In Jesus' name, amen. Back to you, Max. All right, this is WB7MAX.
Jeff, thank you so much for that prayer. I really appreciate that. All right, we're in Psalm 87.
That's Psalm 87 today. Pretty short psalm, only about seven verses. Now, ever since God chose Abraham...
to be the father of all of the saved in Genesis chapter 12, and ever since he made a covenant with him, God has wrought his salvation in and through his chosen people, the Jews. But even though Israel is God's chosen people, and the Old Testament is all about them, Yet there's much in the Old Testament that anticipates the ultimate inclusion of the Gentiles into the kingdom of God. You remember that one of the terms of the Abrahamic covenant is that in Abraham, all the nations of the earth would be blessed, not just the Jews.
And so the Old Testament is filled with prophecies of the inclusion of the whole world. into the kingdom of God. Now, yesterday we looked at Psalm 86.
And you remember we looked at verse 9. Psalm 86 and verse 9, it says, All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord, And so verse 9 of Psalm 86 says, All nations, not just the Jews, all nations, that is the whole world, all people, will become members of the kingdom of God. It is this theme that is begun in Psalm 86:9 that Psalm 87, our psalm today, takes up, expands, and rejoices in: the theme that the Gentile nations will be born again, into the kingdom of God, into Zion, the city of God, here represented by Jerusalem.
And so salvation was never intended for a narrow ethnic slice of humanity, to the exclusion of all other people. Salvation has always had a worldwide scope. And so as we read through the Old Testament, especially in the book of Isaiah, over and over and over again we see that the Gentiles are going to be brought into the kingdom of God.
So what Psalm 87 is, is a glorious foreshadowing and prophecy of the times when the Gentiles will be converted to the God of Israel and will be incorporated into the people of God so completely and so equally that it will be as though they were born among the Jews. Because in fact... Via the new birth of being born again, they have been born into the Jewish nation and incorporated into the Abrahamic covenant.
And so it says in Galatians 3, 29, and if you be Christ, then are you Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise. So what we have here in Psalm 87 is the glorification of Zion through and as a result of the adoption of the Gentiles and of them being born into the kingdom of God. You know, we see some foreshadowings of this in the salvation of the Ninevites and in the salvation of some of the Moabites, Ruth the Moabitess and others.
But it really comes to full fruition there on the day of Pentecost when Peter's preaching and the Gentiles just flood into the kingdom of God via the new birth and thus become heirs. of Abraham counted as the spiritual Jews incorporated into the kingdom of God by engrafting as Romans 11 indicates alright, that's a little introduction to our psalm psalm 87 I'm going to go ahead and read this psalm and just 7 verses there and then we'll discuss it together alright, psalm 87 beginning at verse 1 it says His foundation is in the holy mountains. The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Glorious things are spoken of thee. O city of God, Siloam. I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me.
Behold, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia. This man was born there. And of Zion it shall be said, this and that man.
was born in her and the highest himself shall establish her the Lord shall count when he writes up the people that this man was born there he lost as well the singers and the players on instruments shall be there all my springs are in thee alright interesting psalm there any comments on psalm 87 please come now to call site WB 17. I want to make a comment on this term Zion that's found in verse 2. Zion is a term that has four meanings in the scriptures.
And the context in which that term is used tells us which of those meanings are intended by the use of that word. So the word Zion sometimes refers to the mountain upon which Jerusalem and the temple stood. Zion is a physical mountain, and Jerusalem and the temple were built on top of that mountain.
Okay, so then Zion, secondly, is sometimes used of the city of Jerusalem itself. Jerusalem is called Zion. And then sometimes the word Zion refers to Israel as a nation.
So the term Zion will be used in the place of the term Israel. And then sometimes the word Zion refers to the whole kingdom of God's saved people. And so sometimes it refers to the entire kingdom of God.
And the context will tell us. Now the thought of verses 1 and 2... is this: the sanctuary of the temple, which the Lord has established in Jerusalem on Mount Zion, is the special object of His affection.
And so the foundation and focus of God's kingdom on earth is laid in Jerusalem, whose gates are used by way of metonymy for the city itself in verse 2. And so, The focus here, of course, is on the temple that's in Jerusalem. It's on Mount Zion, and that temple in Jerusalem is called Zion here.
And so what's being said is all the rest of the land of Israel put together, all of her cities, all of her palaces, do not command the affection of God to the degree that Jerusalem does. Because in Jerusalem there's a temple, and the temple is the very throne of God on earth, and it is the center of God's worship. So Jerusalem and the temple that it contains, here called Zion, is the jewel in God's eye as he looks down upon the earth today.
from heaven. And so it's the focus of his attention, and it is the center of his affection. Because it was on the temple in Jerusalem that God bestowed the sign of his ownership and approval by the cloud of his presence, you recall, that gathered on the day of his dedication in 1 Kings 8, and of course the Shekinah glory of God dwelt between the cherubim over the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies.
So that's kind of a little understanding and explanation of what the Zion is there. All right, any comments on this song? Please come in.
Can you hear me? Will, cue mic 5, foxtrot. Please go ahead.
Well, back in Psalm 78 and verse 68, it says, "But choose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion, which he loved." So to me that indicates that Judah is also referenced as Mount Zion. Okay, I'm glad to... Yeah, well, that's a good observation.
Of course, Judah was the tribe. tribal area where Jerusalem was located in the middle of the tribe of Judah was Jerusalem and so when it says he chose the tribe of Judah the Mount Zion which he loved Mount Zion was located in the middle of the tribe of Judah, so that's the reason for the connection there. Judah is not being called Zion.
It's just that Judah was the place where Mount Zion was geographically located. Back over to you there, Will. Thanks for the explanation, Camp Levin.
Alright, thank you for that Will. Okay, any other comments on our passage? Please come out with your call sign.
WB7VZL Roger, WB7VZL, please go ahead. I have always appreciated and I'd love to have you speak to this passage where we have the new covenant in Zion and contrast to Mount Sinai found in Hebrews chapter 12. Here we find the reminiscing of how in verse 12 of this is chapter 12 of Hebrews, and verse 21, it was Mount Sinai was so terrible, and the people said, oh, don't speak to us anymore.
And then Moses said, I am full of fear and trembling. So we have this tremendous fear demonstration of the power of God of Mount Sinai and then in verse 22 but you have come to Mount Zion to the city of the living God the heavenly Jerusalem and to myriads of angels And then verse 23, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect. And to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks better than the blood of Jesus.
This is a marvelous extension of this concept to the church in the New Covenant. That has always been a thrill to read that section. This is WB7V at L.
Back to you, Max. Roger, thank you so much for bringing out that passage, and what a wonderful passage that illustrates what we're talking about here. Now, when I talked about the definition of Zion, one of the things I said, the fourth definition I offered, was that Zion is a term that refers to the whole kingdom of God's saved people, and that's exactly what we see here in Hebrews chapter 12.
And so we have Mount Sinai. What happened at Mount Sinai? Well, you recall that in Exodus chapter 19, that's where the old covenant was made, and that's where the Ten Commandments were given.
And you recall that the mountain had a big smoke and fire and lightning and thunder, and the people were afraid to come to the mountain. And this pictures the terrors of the law of God. I mean, when you look at the Ten Commandments, And you look at your life, you realize, man, I've broken every one of those Ten Commandments at one time or another in one way or another.
And so God says, you know, the soul that does them shall live in them. The soul that sins, it shall die. And so when we look at the law of God represented by Mount Sinai, we are terrified.
But then when we turn and we look at Mount Zion, that is, Jerusalem, and we see there the appearance of the Messiah, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and on that mountain he died on the cross to redeem us, from our sins, namely the violations of God's law that was given on Mount Sinai, we wind up having not terror but peace. So we look at the law of God, we have terror. We look at the cross of Jesus, and we have peace because through that cross on that mountain, we have redemption from sin.
So what it says here in Hebrews 12, 22, well, 21, terrible was the sight. I exceedingly fear and quake. That's Mount Sinai.
That's the law of God. That's what it does to us. It brings us under conviction of sin and dread of judgment.
Verse 22, but you're come to Mount Zion under the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and in innumerable companies of angels. the general assembly of the church of the first four which are written in heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect. And here it is, verse 24, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things than that of able souls.
Yes, we now enjoy our Mount Zion, and it is the Church of God, the Kingdom of God, represented here on earth as the Church Militant, represented in heaven as the Church Triumphant. And one day when Jesus returns, we'll all be in that heavenly Jerusalem, which is the Mount Zion we're looking forward to getting to, and the place that we're going to dwell forever in the new heavens, and in the new earth. So yes, Roger, two mountains, two effects upon us.
And, you know, we need Mount Sinai. We need the Ten Commandments. We need the law of God to show us what we should be, to show us what we're not.
and to show us our need of the Savior, for by the law is the knowledge of sin, and it's the law that drives us to Christ and causes us to rest in Christ and His perfect law-keeping as the righteousness that then is imputed to us. And, of course, our law-breaking is imputed to Him, and He suffers on the cross. God's just penalty for our sins so that the claims of justice could be satisfied and so that forgiveness could be extended in harmony with the principles of justice.
So this is an exciting passage. I appreciate you bringing it up, Roger. Any further comments, Roger?
Back to you. Yeah. The intimacy of the law of God and mercy is reflected in that sanctuary and the most holy place that was only visited once a year.
during the atonement that we touched on the other day when literally the physicality was that the righteousness of the law which could not make human beings righteous because our of, as Hebrews 8 says, because of us. We're defective, but it's still a righteous document. But it's, like Paul says, there's no way that a human being can do that.
it has to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to write that law on the heart. And so the intimacy in the tabernacle, in the most holy place, in the ark, the mercy seat, as we know, is right above. the law, the Ten Commandments.
So that's reflective of when we talked about the truth of God and righteousness kissed each other at the cross. Over. Yeah, Roger, really well said.
Yeah, the Ten Commandments are designed to do a couple of things. One of the things they do is they reveal to us the moral character of God. The Ten Commandments are a reflection of God's own character.
For example, God doesn't lie, right? So that's why he tells us not to lie, etc. And then secondly, the law of God is designed to reveal to us our sin and our need of a savior.
And so by the law is the knowledge of sin, the conviction of sin, which then causes us to flee to Christ for salvation. And then thirdly, as you well said, Roger, the law of God, the Ten Commandments are written in our hearts in the process of regeneration. In the New Covenant, the first promise God makes there in Jeremiah 31, 31 and in Hebrews chapter 8 is that I'm going to write my law on your heart and write it in your mind.
And so now instead of the Ten Commandments just being external to us on a couple of slabs of stone, it's now written in our hearts and we delight in the law of God after the inward man. And so now it becomes the guide by which we need to live. And Jesus says, if you love me, keep my commandments.
Part of those commandments is certainly the Ten Commandments. We see them listed there in Romans chapter 13 and elsewhere. So now we look at the Ten Commandments not as a means of condemnation, but now as a means of guidance for how we need to live our lives day by day in pleasing to the Lord.
And, of course, that's what we want to do because it's written on our heart. Roger, I really appreciate the visual image that you set before us. of the fact that the Ten Commandments are inside the Ark, and on top of the Ark is the mercy seat.
So when we break the law of God, which we do, it's called sin, there is mercy, there's forgiveness. And you remember the blood of the atonement was sprinkled by the high priest on the mercy seat in order to cover our sins. And so we read that the blood of Jesus Christ, his son, cleanses us, from all sin there in 1 John 1:7.
So, wonderful promises. We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sin, according to the riches of His grace, Ephesians 1:7. So, this is a wonderful theme, all wrapped around this whole issue of Mount Zion.
in contrast to Mount Sinai. Roger, thank you for bringing all this up. What a wonderful way to set forth the gospel, the connection between the two testaments, the old and new, and the connection between the law of God.
and the redemption that Jesus provides us from our violations of it. All right, I've got a couple of housekeeping things I need to take care of here. First of all, the man would like to acknowledge Bruce, KD0ETK.
Good morning, Bruce. Good to have you with us. From Minnesota, Bruce is on the Utah SDR.
Thanks for being with us. That's Bruce, Kilo Delta Zero, Echo, Quebec Kilo. All right.
Also, I got the prayer request from Lee, AL7KG, and Lee said this. Hi Max, pray for truck carburetor replacement. The truck is not running well.
The Siskiyou Meadows Senior event was holy and good. We had preaching and singing and visiting and eating and recreation. I was able to play my harmonica with the other players.
There we prayed for extra special needs of many of our people, more prayer requests for absent people and families. who have members who have died. Much thanks, Lee, AL7KG.
So, Lee, good report from your visit to Siscue Meadows, the Bible retreat and conference you had there, and the fellowship that you enjoyed. Lee, we will certainly incorporate... your truck and its new carburetor into our prayer request.
So, Al KJ7QQH, God willing, you can take note of that, and we will go from there. All right. Real good.
That brings us back to our passage. Any more comments, please, on our Psalm, Psalm 87? Please come down to your call, sir.
KB7, ZXN. Kevin, KB7, ZXN. Go ahead.
Yes, and continue prayers for Lee as well as he continues to serve the Lord there. Yeah, what a wonderful passage here today we get to look at. You know, this, and I appreciate the, all the insights brought out in your introduction, Max, and in the text that you shared as well, Roger.
All spot on, I believe. You know, one of the interesting things, this is a very intimate and personal prayer, yet it opens up into probably one of the first epophany. apocalyptic prayers apocalypse meaning uncovering before it was even a category you know but it opens up it uncovers some truths that we are talking about in the new testament here and you know as he includes all these enemies that of around known Israel at the time that would had sought always their destruction one day is praying to the fact that this that the new Zion will be their source of salvation well it is represented in Hebrews 12 22 and 24 But it's also spoken of, I think, too, throughout.
It's our spiritual birthplace is the point of it. We're being born from above, as in John 3, verse 3. As Paul describes it, as our mother, as our place of birth in Galatians 4.26.
So, yes, in this context, being born from above is a familiar term that we talk about. But it does bring together the picture of the Holy of Holies, the place of the Holy of Holies, where God resides. Now, we know, you know, the kind of glory of God revealed himself in the temple at times there.
But we know God always resides in the Holy of Holies place. from above. And what a beautiful picture this paints that is so revealing.
And I think this also really reflects the deep relationship that this psalmist has in writing this psalm, the psalm you know here and so anyway yeah beautiful picture but you know the terms the concepts the understanding that we have of the dwelling place of our Lord the Holy of Holies from above is spoken of right out the gate here KB7 is that example yeah I mean Kevin you know the sanctuary on earth that they had in the Old Testament is just a picture of the sanctuary that's in heaven. It's a model of it, if you will, reflecting that glorious temple in heaven. And so this worship that took place under the Old Covenant was designed to point the minds of the people past what they were seeing to the true worship of God in the sanctuary in heaven.
And of course that's where Jesus ministered and that's where the atonement was secured when he offered his blood there and purchased his people. You know, I want to comment here on on verses 4 to 7. So we've seen the praise of Zion in verses 1 to 3.
Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. And now in verse 4, we have this unusual passage that tells us that Zion's ancient enemies and neighbors are going to be included among the roles of those who were born in Jerusalem. And what's amazing in this section of verses 4 to 7 is that Zion's enemies are going to become her citizens.
So he lists a bunch of them here. Rahab, of course, was Rahab the harlot. We know about her in Jericho.
But Rahab is also a term that's used for Egypt, the nation that enslaved the Jews. And then Babylon here is listed. That's the nation that's going to enslave the Jews in the future.
And yet both Egypt and Babylon are going to submit themselves to Israel, come under the authority of Israel, and be incorporated into Israel. And so these two nations, will both be brought into and become part of Israelite Zion. And so those who conquered Israel will themselves be conquered spiritually by Israel through the gospel to be brought into Israel to live in her new covenant community.
And these Gentile nations are going to acknowledge God, they're going to know God, they're going to submit themselves to God, and they're going to be saved by God. Now, I don't know the background of all of the people on this net, but I think the vast majority of us, if not all of us, are not ethnic Jews. There may be some among us, which is great, but, you know, I'm so grateful for the incorporation of the Gentiles, otherwise I wouldn't be saved.
I wouldn't be brought into the kingdom of God and into the blessings of the Abrahamic covenant, were it not for being born of a Jew, Jesus Christ, by way of the new birth. And so you see that mentioned here. Notice the last phrase in verse 4.
this man was born there verse 5 and in Zion it shall be said this and that man was born in her notice verse 6 the Lord shall count when he writes up the people that this man was born there. And so three times it talks about the Gentiles and these Gentile nations being born into the kingdom of God and becoming citizens of that kingdom as though they were born in Jerusalem itself. And of course, Jesus, it says in Isaiah 53 on the cross, "He shall see the travail of his soul," the birth pangs of his soul, "and he shall be satisfied, for my servant shall justify many." So Jesus brings to birth a whole bunch more Jews, spiritual Jews, those who are circumcised in heart, into his kingdom as he does his work on the cross, and then of course expands that work into a worldwide ministry through the operation of the Holy Spirit.
So it's quite an amazing passage when you look at it and you see the foreshadowing and the declaration of the inclusion of the Gentile nation into Zion through the new birth vis-à-vis the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ. All right, other comments on the passage? Please come down to your call sign.
Roger, WB7VZL, please go ahead. Yeah, a passage. Thank you, Kevin.
I always appreciate the perspective here and the personal nature of this psalm especially and it specifically says and god himself you know i noted that it's amazing but another passage that highlights this incredible wideness of God's mercy. You know, that great hymn, "There is a wideness of God's mercy." Well, it's really demonstrated by Peter, or to Peter, by the angel who says, "There is a wideness Cornelius needs to hear what you have to say. Cornelius, go to him." And so God was noticing Cornelius' praying, and so therefore he was praying.
And so he So, therefore, "Send therefore to Joppa, and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you. He is staying at the house of Simon the Tanner by the sea." And so I sent to him... immediately, and you have been kind enough to come.
And then notice, "Now then we were all present before the Lord to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord." Verse 34: "And opening his mouth, Peter said, I most certainly understand now, finally, now, that God is not one to show partiality. That's our point of our passage. Not to show partiality, but in every nation, the man who fears him and does what is right is welcome.
to him. So, Peter got the message quite strongly. Over.
Roger, really well said. Thank you for bringing out that passage in Acts 10 about Cornelius coming into the kingdom. Thank you.
And you know, Peter got the message of Psalm 87. He got the message very clearly that now God is incorporating the Gentiles. And you know, you see Paul echoing that same thing in Ephesians chapter 2, verses 11 to 22.
In Ephesians 2:11 it says, "Wherefore remember that you being in times past Gentiles in the who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision and the flesh made by hand, that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. That was the condition of the old world. a testament Gentile nation verse 13 but now in Christ Jesus you sometime were far off are made near by the blood of Christ for he is our peace who has made both 1 And is broken down the middle wall and partitioned between it, having abolished in his flesh the enmity, 2 even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, for to make in himself of two one new man, 3 so making peace, and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body, by the cross having slain the enmity thereby and came and preached peace to you that were afar off that's the Gentiles and them that are near the Jews for through him we both have access by one spirit So we have this glorious revelation over and over again by way of doctrinal statement.
in Ephesians chapter 2 by way of visible illustration, and Acts chapter 10, Roger, which you brought out. And this was something that was hard for the Jews to wrap their brain around, that now the Gentiles are brought into the covenant community of the people of God, incorporated as equals, without having to become Jews first. That was the big debate.
You remember Acts chapter 15. Do they have to be circumcised? No they don't.
They have circumcised farts. That's enough. And so anyway this Psalm is a wonderful declaration of what God's going to do in incorporating the Gentile nation into the church through being born of Jesus a Jew, become spiritual Jews, inherit all the promises of the Abrahamic covenant, and be included in the covenant community of the people of God so that in that heavenly Zion...
that we talked about in Hebrews chapter 12, we're going to all be one family in Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, whether bond or free, whether male or female, all been made to drink into one spirit. So what a glorious promise. And see, we're on the receiving end of that promise, right, in the new covenant era.
I mean, the vast majority of the people of God are now Gentiles. And so praise the Lord for the broadness of God's saving purposes, that it wasn't just focused on one nation and one race of people, but it encompasses all people. And that's why it says in John 3, 16, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son to whosoever.
or believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. So God's saving purposes include not just the Jews but all people. All right, we are out of time.
I'm excited about this psalm, especially being a personal recipient of the blessings of that it promises me being a Gentile being brought into the kingdom. I am so grateful for that, and I know you all are too. All right, it's time for us to go to prayer.
Al's going to lead us in prayer. Are there any final prayer requests before we go to prayer? Please come down to your call sign.
Just a brief comment. Kevin, go ahead with your comment. Appreciate that.
Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I just briefly wanted to have you consider, too, verses 5 and 6 and contemplate on that citizenship and that being registered in the new city. You know, this is an eternal citizenship that we have, also reflected in Revelation 21, verse 27, and the Lamb's Book of Life, an eternal citizenship in the eternal city there.
KB 7, is that acceptable? Yeah, well said, Kevin. Our citizenship is in heaven, isn't it?
And Jesus is our king and his word is our law. And what a wonderful kingdom. Thank you for bringing out that concept of citizenship.
That's really an important concept. All right. Any final prayer requests?

really appreciate that we just trust that God will be merciful to us open his ears to our prayers and grant to us the things that we request this is WB7MX I want to thank all the stations that checked in this morning as well as those that stood by to give us a clear operating frequency. We meet here seven days a week at 6 a.m. in order to read the scriptures, understand their meeting message and application, and then to pray for grace and mercy that God would help us to live out the things that we learn and that he would meet the needs of those that are in our circle of fellowship.
I'll be returning the frequency now to regular amateur use, This is WB7VX. We'll be clear and standing by. WB7V, is that L?
WB7V, it's L. Roger. Please go ahead.
Yes. yeah I don't want to take the place of of our friend Beck but I just one of those passages that truly highlights in a succinct way is Colossians 1 27 of this subject of no partiality and I love the passage that you highlighted in Ephesians 2 but but I guess Ephesians 2 is dehydrated by Paul when he does the mystery that God is revealing in Colossians 1.27, Christ in you, the hope of glory. and the revelation to the Gentiles.
When you consider that the Jews disparagingly called the Jews, they kind of referred to Gentiles as dogs. This is the most audacious, audacious, concept that Paul felt moved by the Spirit of God that they could be under one roof, Jews and Gentiles. And of course, it precipitated a lot of riots in Paul's life.
Over. Yeah, copy that. Yeah.
Boy, Paul got to give it a hard time in the book of Acts, didn't he? When he would preach to the Gentiles, turn away from the Jews, they'd want to stone him in the whole nine yards. Well, yes, it's a wonderful passage, Roger, in Colossians 1, where Paul says in verse 25, where have I was made a minister according to the dispensation or stewardship of God which is given to me for you to fulfill the word of God, even the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations.
that is now made manifest to the saints. What's that mystery? Verse 27, God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
And the fact is the Gentiles could have Christ as their Messiah, as well as the Jews, was a mystery. Now, it was there in the Old Testament, but the Jews tended to overlook it. But, you know, Isaiah is loaded with references to God incorporating the Gentiles into the covenant community of the nation of Israel.
And so, of course, we see that fulfilled in the New Testament. But yes, Roger, you're exactly right. This passage in Colossians chapter 1, and verse 27 talks about this mystery of the Gentiles being incorporated into the kingdom of God being part of Christ by way of adoption and by way of the new birth is clearly set forth there thanks for pointing out that passage this is a huge theme in the New Testament and was part of the covenantal transition from the old covenant to the new covenant it was so difficult for those that were just steeped in Old Covenant theology.
But we see over time, they got it figured out. You know, the passage that you brought out in Acts chapter 10 about Cornelius, you remember in chapter 11, the Jews read Peter the riot at. Why did you go in and eat with Gentiles?
And so he recounts the whole story, and then they say, well, then as God also granted to the Gentiles his sentence to life, and they wrap their brain around this transition. And then, of course, by the time we get to Acts 15, right, It's like, no, the Gentiles don't have to be circumcised to be incorporated. They're brought in as equals right alongside of us.
So you can really see that transition from Acts 1 clear to Acts 15 where they had to adjust. to this new paradigm and to embrace what was prophesied in the Old Testament but not really understood all that well until they begin to see it in things like the conversion of Cornelius back to you there Roger oh yeah it's a marvelous transition and it's only actually it's only made possible by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that's that there is there is kind of an unfolding as Paul's hinting you know with the mystery the Holy Spirit broke through and there is a time for everything so to speak it's just like the time of the unveiling of the true Zion and as I was reading in Isaiah, it's not truly unveiled yet.
### Summary of the West Coast Bible Study
**Date and Time:** Monday morning (time unspecified)
**Location:** Utah FDR (Frequency Division Radio)
**Moderator:** Max, WB7MAX
**Participants:** Jerry, Kevin, Kenny, Brian, Keith, Steve, Lee, Carol, Philip, Peter, Jeff, and others
**Prayer Requests:** - Lee requested prayer for a truck carburetor replacement. - General requests for various individuals and families, including health and travel concerns.
**Scripture Focus:** - Psalm 87
**Discussion Points:** - **Salvation and the Gentiles:** The theme of Psalm 87 is the inclusion of Gentiles into the kingdom of God. The term "Zion" was discussed with four meanings: the mountain of Jerusalem, the city of Jerusalem, Israel as a nation, and the whole kingdom of God's saved people. The contrast between Mount Sinai (representing the law) and Mount Zion (representing the new covenant and the Church) was highlighted. - **Verses 4-7 of Psalm 87:** These verses indicate that Zion's ancient enemies and neighbors will become her citizens. Rahab (Egypt) and Babylon are mentioned as examples of nations that will submit to God and be incorporated into Israel. The concept of being "born in Zion" reflects the idea of being born into the kingdom of God through the new birth. - **Inclusion of Gentiles:** Ephesians 2:11-22 and Acts 10 (Peter's encounter with Cornelius) were referenced to show how Gentiles are now part of the covenant community. Colossians 1:27 was mentioned to emphasize the unity of Jews and Gentiles in Christ.
**Prayer:** - Led by Al, KJ7QQH, with prayers for various individuals and families, including health, travel, and salvation concerns.
**Closing:** - The study concluded with a reminder of the weekly meeting times and the purpose of reading scriptures, understanding their message, and applying them to life. - The frequency was returned to regular amateur use.
