Will, thank you for that. Yeah, our brother Will KM5-Best is getting radiation for prostate cancer. He's about a third of the way through getting another treatment today.
That really beats him up. And so we need to pray for our brother Will and for his ongoing radiation treatment. Will, thanks for letting us know.
Appreciate that. All right, WB7MAX, looking for check-ins. WB7MAX, good morning.
Good morning, Roger. WB7VA, how are you doing today? Well, I love our passage, and looking forward to those dwelling places that Johannes Brahms highlighted in his Requiem.
I recognized it as soon as I read the Psalm. I said, "Oh, no wonder that's where Brahms got that." Yeah, copy that. You know, the old composers really picked up on scriptural references and incorporated that into their music.
And, of course, we know all about Handel's Messiah, right, which is nothing but scripture references. And the same way there. Roger, thanks for that musical reference.
Really appreciate that. All right, and I would like to acknowledge Bruce K. Let's see.
I got it here. Yeah, KD0EQK. I didn't write it down properly here, Bruce.
First mistake I ever made. All right, we got KD0EQK, Bruce, checking in with us. Bruce has a technician's license.
We had a little email correspondent, and he's going to work on his general, but he's listing in from Minnesota on the Utah SDR. So please keep happy with us. Thank you for being there and looking forward to the day when you can key up.
All right, that's Bruce, KD0EQK. All right, any other check-ins, please come down. Thank you.
All right, I see Brian, K87ZIP. Brian, I don't know if you're on the microphone or not, but we got you picked up on the Utah SDR. Good morning, Max.
Still on the first cup of coffee, so it's a little rough this morning. But I'm here, and it's good to hear from you all. All right, Brian, K87ZIP, after you get that cup of coffee swallowed down, you'll become fully human, and we'll chat with you in a minute.
All right, any news on Jay and how he's doing with his chemo over? No news at this point. All right.
Copy that. Thank you for that. Okay.
I think we're all caught up on the Utah STR. That's the only one I can see this morning. Oh, there's Peter, KJ7B.
Good morning, brother. How you doing? Good morning.
All right, Peter says good morning to everyone on the Utah FCR. Good morning to you, Peter. Good to have you with us.
All right, yeah, we got Phil, K6HSV, Let's see, anybody else here? No, I think we've got them all. I don't know that Brian, KJ7PWM, ever keyed up for us.
He may just be a list of us today. Brian, one last chance to check in. KJ7PWM.
Well, there he is. We threw our fishing line out in the water and he got hooked and reeled in. Good morning, Brian.
Any prayer requests? Go ahead. No new prayer requests this morning.
I did check in earlier. I'm a little befuddled at the moment, so you probably... Yeah, well, I've been known to be befuddled more than once, so...
All right, Brian, I'm glad to know you checked in earlier. I now have you checked on my list that you've checked in. So that's what makes it official.
If I don't... Mark it down, you know, my short-term memory completely forgets. Not that I don't love you, I'm just getting old and cranky and forgetful.
All right, Brian, KJ7PWM, we got you. All right, any last-minute check-ins, and we're going to get started here. Please come with your call sign.
Relay. Relay, go ahead. Yeah, this is KD-70S.
Looks like we have N6TNI, Dan, on Half Moon Bay. Push the right button. Okay, I've got the right button pushed this time.
Yeah, Dan, N6TNI, good to have you with us on Half Moon Bay. Appreciate you being there, brother. All right, any other check-ins coming up?
All right, this is WB7A, control for the West Coast Bible Study, and I'm managing my monkeys in my circus here with all of my buttons and computers running. And thanks to Jeff, AK6OK, we're operating remotely out of Rockland, California. I am actually in Pleasanton, California, in a hotel room.
right now. So we are in Psalm 84, and we're going to be looking at this psalm today. Before we read this psalm, we want to open in prayer.
And Roger, WB7BGL, do you think you could open in prayer for us today, please, brother? Go ahead. Heavenly Father, it is going to be, and we can already by faith be in your dwelling places As Paul wonderfully puts it in Ephesians 2, verse 6, that we are in heavenly places.
And as we see this psalm, some think it might have been David when he was exiled temporarily in Egypt. in the Lord's providence. Lord, we know we're kind of exiled here on this planet until you have a much better place for us.
Thank you for imagining with us this morning with your blessed Holy Spirit in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, Roger, thank you so much for that prayer.
I really appreciate that. Okay, before we read Psalm 84 and get a little introduction to it, you know, it's never always the case that Christians love Christ. And the Christian loves to be in the presence of Christ.
And he loves to be ministered to by Christ, and he loves to praise the Lord of Christ. And where does he best find these things? He finds them, as our psalm says, in the sanctuary of God, in the church of God, in a word in the house of God.
Jesus declared in Matthew chapter 18 and verse 20 that when the church is gathered in his name... There is he in the midst. And so it's in the church that we meet with Christ and experience Christ, receive ministry from Christ in a way that we don't anywhere else.
And we know that Ephesians 5 tells us that Christ loved his church and gave himself for his church. and he ministers powerfully in his church. And for this reason, the Christian loves to go to church and builds his agenda and his week and his life around being at church.
And if in God's providence he's kept being in church through no fault of his own, He's in a soul that cries out for God to work so he can quickly return to church. And this is David's attitude in this psalm. He wants to be in the temple.
For some reason, he's providentially hindered, but that's where he wants to be. And so Christians are glad to have the opportunity to go to church and make every effort to make sure that they're able to attend. And so it's at church that we meet with Christ in a deep and personal way.
the love and fellowship of Christ and the peace of Christ. And so for us, church is not just a formality, it's not a duty, it's not an obligation. It's a place where we go to meet with Christ and with Christ's people.
And that's where we draw near to him. I hear his voice as a preaching and the prayer and the singing. And the scripture reading, there we experience his love through other people loving us.
And so we have an attitude David has that wants to be with the church. And so this is the reason for all of David's enthusiasm, and this is the reason for all of his excitement. Because we want to go and praise, we want to worship, we want to minister.
and we want to be near to God. So that's what church is all about. That's why it's so exciting and attractive, because then we come face to face with God.
And so that's what David is expressing in this psalm. Of course, for him, church was the sanctuary, right? The Old Testament temple.
For us, the new covenant temple according to first chapter 2 local church so little background on or song I'm going to go ahead and read this to us today Psalm 84 out of the King James Version let's start reading at verse 1 Verse 1 says, How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yea, even faints for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found a house and a swallow and nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even on altars, O Lord of hosts! my king and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in my house and will be still praising thee, Selah.
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee, in whose heart are the ways of them, who passing through the valley of Baca Make it a well, the rain also filleth the pool. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appears before God. O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer, God of Jacob, fill on.
Behold our God, our Savior. Look upon the face of thine anointed, for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand I'd rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is the sun and shield.
The Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
All right, there is Psalm 84 and David's longing to be in the house of God. Any comments on this passage, please come forward. Alright, well, while you're thinking, I will comment a little bit on this Psalm, verse 1.
Oh, how amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord! That is how lovely, how pleasant, how delightful it is. And so his tabernacle is God's dwelling place, okay?
And, of course, his dwelling place under the Old Covenant was the Old Covenant Temple. And so what's his attitude towards going to temple to worship and to offer sacrifice and to express his prayers? Well, verse 2, "My soul longs and faints for the courts of the Lord.
Of my heart and my flesh cry out to the living God." So within the courts of the Lord, they have fellowship with the living God. Now, it's not that God's not omnipresent. He is.
He's everywhere. You can worship God wherever you're at, in your home, in your hotel room, when you're at work, driving in the car. But the sanctuary was the place of God's special presence in the Old Testament.
You remember the Shekinah glory of God was over the Ark of the Covenant. And... That was the place God appointed to especially meet with his people and for them to have a level of interaction with him that they couldn't have elsewhere.
And so it is with church. It's a time of focused, concentrated fellowship, hearing the teaching, engaging in the worship, experiencing the special presence of Christ. You know, he said where two or three are gathered together in one place, And so Christ is especially appointed to meet with his people in the new covenant church.
Just like he is especially appointed to meet with his people in the old covenant temple. And so what David says there, verse 2, is that when I'm in the courts of the Lord, that's when I'm with the living God in a very intense and personal and special way. So a couple of comments there in the first two verses.
In the comments, please come down if you're called, sir. Deputy B7, please let out. Roger, Deputy B7, please let out.
Please go ahead. Well, this is a personal... experience.
We know that Autumn with her autistic desire to rather be alone than to be with people and doesn't mind at all when we leave. So we're going to have to figure out how to I, we were in conversation in the kitchen with Daylene and I invited her to go to church with us tomorrow because Daylene is the leader of and so she declined but she said she'd to listen to the message of daily news, either before or after it is delivered. But there are, and I'm feeling that I'm speaking for more and more, unfortunately, more and more people that just have a tremendous hesitancy.
They may not be autistic per se, but they do not look forward to being subjected to what they would call the negativity of being with people worshiping do have a desire to worship at times and sing, as Autumn does at times, rarely to be heard. Unfortunately, I think the culture is becoming more optimistic all the time, especially the influences of the Internet with individualism emphasized so much to their downfall in a sense. This time you meet some of these at home with a little bit of insight, inviting somebody yesterday to church.
A copy of that, Roger, and thank you for bringing that up. Yeah, you know, we live in an increasingly anti-social culture because people are so individualized on their phones and on the Internet in terms of shaping a world that only pleases them and never challenges them and never creates any stress in their life. And it's easy to retreat into that.
But nevertheless, the commandment of God stands very plain, and that is, don't forsake the assembly of yourselves together as the manner of some is, and so much the more as you see the day of birth, as it says in Hebrews chapter 10. And, you know, when you look at the New Testament, Roger, half the books in the New Testament are written to local churches. And the assumption is always and everywhere that Christians will be involved in a local church.
The book of Revelation opens with the letters to the seven churches. And so Christ loved the church. He gave himself for it.
And, you know, when God saves us, he saves us as individuals. But he doesn't save us individualistically, which means that as soon as we're saved, we're placed into the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 13 for by one spirit have ye all been baptized into one body whether Jew or Greek, whether bond or free and have all been made to drink into one spirit and so the whole idea of evangelism is to not only bring people into union with Jesus Christ, but also it brings them into union with the body of Christ, with the people of God, with the covenant community.
And so we have to self-consciously fight this desire to withdraw from interaction with other believers. And I think the fact that we have the West Coast Bible Study indicates that there is a longing in the heart of believers to be involved with other believers in mutual encouragement and fellowship and stimulation and accountability in our walk with the Lord. And so we have to fight this antisocial, individualistic, I'm just going to do what pleases me, a type of mentality.
And, you know, one of the things I feel, Roger, when I go to church is I'm here to serve and to minister to others. Other people come. They're hurting.
They have needs. They need encouragement. I go and I provide that for them and to show them the love of Christ and the love that Christ has for them.
And so, yeah, it's true that that's the direction that a lot of people have gone. But the question we have to ask ourselves is, is that a good direction to be going in? And is that something we need to encourage?
And, you know, there's a further problem, and that is it's hard to find a good church. There's lots of faith churches out there. It's really difficult to find a good church.
But, yeah. What I have said to people is find the best church you can. It's not going to be perfect.
Just find the best way you can. Go, serve, worship, minister in any way you can and try to build it up and improve it by your presence and by your ministry. Back to you there, Roger.
Go ahead. Yes, you sure have highlighted it. highlighted the situation and depression is certainly a turning inward in an unhealthy Some have theorized that it's the lack of circulation in the frontal lobe, and it probably is.
In other words, that's the worship center of the brain where the parts of the brain function in the altruistic mode of thinking of others besides your animal brain portion. Yeah, it really requires, you say, thinking of the other person, the opportunity to support one another in this wonderful community. And we've endeavored at appropriate times to highlight community.
And we had some rejoicing yesterday. She's a tremendous cook in the kitchen. We had a wonderful community feel of and she yeah she's just one of those possibly depressed you know the autistic type of mind really a different look at times and I I just just Anyway, she's willing to receive prayers.
I told her at one point regarding her history of fleeing under PTSD moments that she invited me or did not reject any sort of... prayer on her behalf. So I thought that was at least good news.
But yeah, this is certainly a fellowship with him. I think of that first verse. How lovely are the dwelling places, O Lord of hosts.
He's not alone, is he? Over. Yeah, that's exactly right.
So anyway, Roger, thanks for relating to us a lot of issues. And, of course, autism is a legitimate mental disorder. But it certainly isn't normative and it's certainly not something that we need to use as any kind of an excuse or guideline for the rest of us who are not autistic for avoiding our involvement in a local church.
and of course we need to talk to others here on the net as well. But you look at verse 3, it says, "Yea, the sparrow has found a house to swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young even by altars, O Lord God of hosts, my King and my God." And so apparently as David went to the tabernacle, He saw birds, and there were birds perhaps building nests on top of the temple. And he's saying, in essence, even the animals have a desire to be near to God's house and to participate in that worship to the degree that they can.
We see the animals worshiping in the temple. in the book of Revelation in chapter 5 there towards the end of the chapter and so everything God has made has been designed to worship and everything that worships must worship in the way that God tells them to do so and so so Anyway, we were made to worship. We were made to worship in community.
When you look at the book of Revelation, all the worship that's going on there, with the exception of John. In chapter 1, it's worship this covenant, where you have the entire body of the people of God in heaven together, worshiping God around the throne. All right, any other comments on Psalm 84?
Dr. Crosby. 87 ES.
87 ES. Eric, please go ahead. Yes.
Yeah, thank you, and good morning to everyone on the net. This poem, I've read through it many times, as I'm sure most of us may have. But there is one verse that's overly spread out and kind of spoken to me.
And that's verse 10. And I usually read from the New King James Version, or I mean, excuse me, the King James Version, or the New King James, but verse 10, it says, "For a day in your court is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness." And I think some other translations that I've read and said that for a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere or something along those lines.
But I'm always reminded what our Lord Jesus said. It just reminds me of the passage in Matthew 16:24-26. it's okay I'll read this chapter 16 verses 24 through 26 it says that Jesus told his disciples if anyone wants to deny himself and take up his cross and follow me whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? Thank you.
And, you know, every day we're presented with things in our life, and we must choose every day to follow Him and not the ways this world or what this world can offer. that verses, you know, quite a bit, and it's kept me grounded. And on the path, you know, I start to see things.
I get pulled away, and I've got to come back and redirect myself. And anyway, that's my thoughts. You know, that verse there in verse 10 is always kind of reminding me of what Jesus said.
Anyway, back to you. Over, this is KD70S. Yeah, KD70S, great comment.
Thank you for pointing out verse 10. Wonderful passage. First of all, he makes a comparison of time, doesn't he?
He says, a day and night course is better than a thousand. And what he's saying here is one day spent in the house of God, in the worship of God, is better than a thousand days spent doing something else. And so this tells us how important church is.
To miss one day of church is like missing a thousand days of life. So interesting comparison of time. And then he makes a comparison of position when he says, I'd rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.
And what he's saying here is the lowest position of service in the house of God is more important than the highest position in the world. And the least church is a better place to be than the most opulent palace that the wicked might dwell in. So what we have here is a comparison of time and a comparison of position or place and the relative value of the house of God and the worship of God vis-a-vis being outside of the house of God and the worship of God.
So, Eric, thanks for pointing out that passage and the powerful comparisons it contains. And, yeah, we have to engage in a lot of self-denial to serve the Lord. It's not easy.
And so we have to take up our cross daily and follow him, as you said. And, you know, there's times when I felt reluctant to go to church, but I thought, you know, this is what God wants me to do. I need to do this.
You know, I'm going to a legitimate, true church of God. And, you know, I'm always glad after I went that I did go because the encouragement, the uplifting, the challenges that come have always been... another incremental point of growth in my life.
And so really what church is, when it's a biblically functioning church, it's a little outpost of heaven. It's a little foreshadowing and foretaste of what heaven is. is going to be like all worshiping together around the throne of God, expecting the truth of the word of God and giving praise to the Son of God.
And so what a delight to be able to experience a little taste of heaven in church that we're going to taste in the full when we wish the Lord there in that great day. All right, any other comments on the passenger? Let's come out to call signs.
All right, I heard a call sign there. Station, just come ahead. Let's see if we can hear you.
Go ahead. This is Brian, NWVIP. Yeah, Brian, K-7ZIP, go ahead.
Yeah, it reminded me that parts of this sounded familiar. And as he turned on the first tail, I thought, yeah, that's it. This was a song that was written in the last 10, 20 years.
And that song was called... It uses quite a bit of sound. So if you're one of those people that forged some music and you're not very powerful, you might check that out again.
The name of the title is Better Than One Day, or Better Is One Day. Yeah, copy, Brian. There are a lot of static crashes there, but I understand you to say that verse 10 has been set to a song, and the music has kind of stuck in your mind in a day and night court.
is perhaps the title of the hymn. And yeah, you know, when we take the Word of God and we put it to music, it really does stick in our minds. That's one way we taught our kids to memorize scripture, is that Kathy would take a verse like John 3.16 or whatever, and she would create a tune on the piano, and then she would sing it to the kids.
And to this day, they still remember those tunes, and of course, because of the tune, they remember the verse. So, Brian, it's good to know that you heard a song about verse 10, and that that song has stuck in your mind and motivated you. to go to church.
You know, look, I recognize that church is not always a happy experience. For some of us, we've experienced some abuse in church. We've experienced some false teaching and rogue pastors.
You know, that's I'm sorry that you have experienced those things. I have too. But just because we experience those things doesn't mean that we can throw the whole institution away and decide, you know what, I'm never going to go to church again.
We have to just go find a true church. It's not like if you have a bad doctor, you know, you throw all doctors away, you go find a good doctor. And it's the same way with church.
And if there's one within a reasonable driving distance, Check them out, look them over, see if there's something there, and try to attach yourself to a community of the people of God, and you'll be glad you did. So don't let one or two bad experiences sour you on the church as an institution. There are true pastors out there.
There are good churches out there. We just have to make the effort to find them and then make the effort to attend. All right, WB7MAX, looking for further comments on FOM 84.
Please come out to call us. Follow up, 8070X. Follow up, go ahead.
Yeah, this is KD-7ES, and I was listening to you on verse 10 there, and it was kind of like, you know, like you're talking about time. Who are you going to spend your time with, in the world or with the Lord? And it's kind of like what you're talking about.
Yeah. decide, hey, I'm going to get up and go to church or I'm going to lay in bed and I don't want to go. And it's kind of like, you know, it's a decision to follow and go to church and fellowship with the congregation and whatnot.
And so it's just kind of like, you know, It's better to do that than to, like you were saying, any experiences keeping you away from church. So anyway, that was just kind of my follow-up thought, and I appreciate the comment. earlier on my comment.
So anyway, this is Katie 70S. Eric, Katie 70S, thank you for that follow-up. Well said.
I received a message from a guy called 5Yankee. He said the fellow that Brian Katie 7ZIP was referring to is by a guy named Matt Redman. That's Matt Redman.
Redmond and the title to him is Better Is One Day Better Is One Day so Beck thank you for that reference y'all can probably find that on YouTube Matt Redmond Better Is One Day so I've not heard of that song before I'm going to go look it up after the net and listen to it And so, Beck, thank you for that reference. All right. Any other comments on 734?
Please come out your call time. WB7, is that help? Roger, WB7V.
Please go ahead. Yeah. The only reference in my NASB that is associated with verse 10, thank you so much, Thomas, about verse 10 and Eric and your commitment.
Well, it's kind of like... having, like Jesus, was committed to go to the synagogue as his custom was in Luke 4.16. It needs to be a regular life of devotion.
The only text next to this verse, surprisingly, is highlighting the day, Psalm 27, verse 4 and I'm looking at it and if I may read it Matt yeah please go ahead and read it Roger okay one thing I have asked from the Lord that I shall seek that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, and behold the beauty of the Lord, and to meditate in his temple. I don't know how many, it could be decades ago, I print here Keith Green. So we're talking about songs.
If there was one person that was animated, and I thank you, Beck, who knows so much about music, Christian music, way beyond all I ever know. but yeah Keith Green certainly highlighted enjoying the presence of the Lord in the temple uh over yeah thank you for that that's Psalm 27 4 that Roger read to us and um once again we see the attitude of David here being expressed one thing I desire to the Lord that while I seek after that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and the quietness of the temple Roger thank you for reading us that verse you know another verse that comes to mind is Psalm 122, Psalm 122, in verse 1, it says, I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the house of the Lord. And so it's the nature of believers that they love to meet with other believers, they love to worship with other believers, they love to fellowship with other believers, they like to talk with other believers about their Lord.
about what he means to them, and about how he's working in their lives. And that's exactly what we're doing here on the West Coast Bible Study. And that's why we're all here.
That's why we get up here. Thank you. Any other comments on this passage, please come down.
WB7VZL. I think Pastor Max dropped out. I think it's linked on part.
Yeah, I think maybe it is. AK6OK. See you next time, yeah.
Thank you. Does anybody know the Bible records? Yeah, this is WB7MAX.

Go ahead. I hear you just fine. Go ahead.
Okay, yeah, for some reason I got disconnected from the Rockland radio, and now I'm reconnected again. I think I missed some stuff. I think last I heard there was Brian K7ZIP talking.
Brian K7ZIP, come back to me. Yeah, Max, can you give us the reference to that Psalm 274? Yeah, Brian, the reference is Psalm 274.
Psalm 274. 274. Over.
Yeah, Eric said someone gave that one, and then you gave another one. Yeah. 122.
Yeah, copy that. The one I gave is Psalm 122 and verse 1. Psalm 122 and verse 1.
Over. Roger. Copy.
All right. Real good. We got Brian taken care of.
Okay. Did somebody else have a comment? Please come down to the call center.

All right, WB7MAX here. Pressing buttons, flipping switches. Any other comments?
Please come down. All right. Well, our time is about gone.
I did want to comment on verse 6. Okay. It says, To passing through the valley of Baca, make it a well.
The rain also sealed the poles. Now, Baca was a place that was very dry, it was desert-like, okay? And the idea there is that you can turn a desert into a well-watered green garden, okay?
And the way you do that is your soul is dry, your soul is empty, your soul is desperate. You go to church and you get watered with the Word of God. You get watered with the fellowship of God.
You know, you get watered as you pray and have communion with God. And when you went in dry and thirsty, you come out refreshed and filled with good things. And so interesting metaphor there.
It says in verse 7, they go from strength to strength. Every one of them in Zion appears before God. Every week you go to church and you get new strength, and the next week you go back and you get new strength, and the next week you go back and you get new strength.
And so you just keep on being strengthened as you go to church, and you keep on getting the water of life for your thirsty souls. And so, anyway, another metaphor there is used in this passage to talk about the importance of communion with the people of God and the covenant community of God as we meet together in the local church. All right, we are out of time.
