I've done some research on that one. Psalm 17, I'm sorry, Psalm 72, 73, 73, 17, about the sanctuary. Okay, we'll get into that one today.

Let's get started. This is Jeff, AK6OK, Rockland, California. I'm going to show the lighting and thunder up there north.

And let's pray, guys. Lord, thanks so much for bringing us all together this morning. It's a beautiful day, at least here in California.

Anyway, and just pray for all the people who have lighting and thunder. Go on real close to their house. Corey up there.

Just sent me a weather map. Oh my gosh, that's close. Get those antennas out of the way.

Lord, I pray that we'll understand Psalm 73 and that we'll observe everything you want us to on this beautiful Sunday morning. And we are blessed to be where we are. And thanks for all the people who have checked in this morning.

Lord, thank you for Maxine. He's heading home pretty soon. He and Kathy.

And thanks for his successful trip to Malaysia and Hong Kong. And he is finished. So that's great.

I have not seen him here on the SDR yet this morning, but we'll listen for him. So Lord, thank you so much. We are blessed in your precious name.

So Roger, if you would read Psalm 73 from one end to the other, you pick the version. Over. Yes, this is from my study Bible, Midnight NASB, and I'll be reading, well, in fact, the title of this thing is, The End of the Wicked Contrasted with That of the Righteous, and it's listed in the Psalm of Asaph.

"Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet came close to stumbling; my steps had almost slipped. For I was envious of the arrogant, as I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

For there are no pains in their death, and their body is fat. They are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued like mankind. Therefore pride is their necklace.

The garment of violence covers them. Their eye emulges from fatness. The imaginations of their heart run riot.

They mock and wickedly speak of oppression. They speak from on high. They have set their mouth against the heavens.

Their tongue parades through the earth. Therefore his people return to this place. the waters of abundance are drunk by them.

And they say, "How does God know? And is their knowledge with the Most High? Behold, these are the wicked, and always at ease they have increased in wealth.

Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure, and washed my hands in innocence, for I have been stricken all day long and every morning. If I had said, I will speak thus, behold, I should have betrayed the generation of thy children. But I pondered to understand that it was trouble in my sight until I came into the sanctuary of God.

Then I perceived their end. Surely thou dost set them in slippery places, thou dost cast them down to destruction. How they are destroyed in a moment.

They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors, like a dream when one awakes. O Lord, when aroused, thou wilt despise their form. Verse 21: When my heart was embittered, and I was pierced within, when I was senseless and ignorant, I was like a beast before thee.

Nevertheless I am continually with thee; thou hast taken hold of my right hand. With thy counsel thou wilt guide me, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee?

And besides thee I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For behold, those who are far from thee will perish.

God has destroyed all those who are unfaithful to thee. But as for me, the nearness of God is my good, and I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all thy works. That is the FTO, Jeff, and I was just thinking when I was reading that, maybe we had prayer already before I joined the net.

Well, I prayed briefly right before you read. Boy, I hope that didn't go where everybody said. My, I need to check out my prayers here.

Roger, thank you for reading. Can you fill us in on 17? I'm curious.

Over. Yeah, that text has kind of troubled me and challenged me, but I came up with some of the possible answers. And the verse reads in my translation, until I came into the sanctuary of God.

Then I perceived their end. And some, including Isaac Newton, wanted to find out why, so to speak, and he took the position in his commentary. Now, this is Isaac Newton.

The guy was, you know, one of the brains in the world. But he... took upon himself to apply himself to the book of Daniel in a commentary and it also wrote on other things in the scripture.

But he noted that Revelation 11:19 mentions the Day of Atonement because it talks about the Ark of His Testament was revealed in that 11 verse 19, you'll find. You were mentioning life, and it is one of the most striking passages that speaks to the Day of Atonement, which is a fall festival. So he took the position that the coming of Christ...

was the Passover in the spring. And the second coming of Christ, those events that revolve the buildup to Christ's coming and the judgment after that related to the fall festival. And including the most holy festival of the year in the Jewish liturgy is the Day of Atonement.

And so he worked on that scenario and I've got a few quotes here from him, but I want to just check in with you right now, Jim. - Yeah, I can see you on Roger. - Okay, so this is the time of year when only the high priest would go before the Ark of His Testament, as I mentioned in Revelation 11:19.

So again, this is built upon the idea that Jesus is Christ our Passover, has been crucified for us. In other words, Christ's first coming represents the spring of liturgical year in the Jewish worship service, but the fall festivals are at the end of the world. And this is what he says, "The same thing is signified by..." Now, this is a Leviticus Dean which talks about the most holy service in the Jewish year, in Leviticus 16.

He says, "The same thing is signified by the two goats..." upon whose foreheads the high priest yearly on the day of expiation, that's the day of atonement, lays the two lots inscribed for God and for Azazel. God's Lot, signifying the people who are sealed with the name of God in their foreheads, and the Lot of Lot-Azazel, which was sent into the wilderness, representing those who receive the mark and the name of the beast, and go into the wilderness with the great whore. And then he says this, he declares his belief in the crisis of Revelation 13 over the mark of the beast and also the sealing work described earlier, multiply to the anti-typical day of atonement.

He places these events in the setting of judgment as typified by Israel's ancient fast day. So anyway, that gives you an idea of a framework where John Newton did his best here to see that the way of the sanctuary, meaning the Day of Atonement, describes the end of the wicked found in Revelation 20. Over here.

Okay, I'm trying to edit this. That was a deep look, a deep dive into this, especially the 17. The 17.

I've got two references to 17 that I want to bring to everybody's attention here. Let me turn this SDR down. First is Ecclesiastes 8:12-13.

which refers also to 73:17. "Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him. But it will not be well with the wicked, and neither will he prolong his days like a shadow, because he does not fear before God." That's Ecclesiastes 8 to 12 and 13.

And the other one is Luke 16, 22 and 23. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and he was buried in Hades being in torment.

He lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. Very interesting. Let's take any comments on all this.

That was a lot to take in. I'm going to give you 7 Zedekson. Okay, B7 Zedekson.

Go ahead Kevin. Well thank you. Well you got my attention Roger.

I was over trying to prepare for two different studies this morning. But that's a very interesting look. You know, and it is interesting to consider Isaac Newton and what he shared there.

And thank you for that Roger. think of Isaac Newton as only the guy that noticed the apple fall and articulated the gravity. But he was also a scholar.

And back in that day, that was, the study of the word was really part of any higher learning. And he took it seriously. I also enjoyed an anecdote where Isaac Newton was challenged to measure smoke one time.

And quite an interesting story on how he accomplished that. measured the weight of smoke. But anyway, to the point here, you know, the Day of Atonement has a lot of connotations to it.

And I think Isaac touched on some of those. Roger, I think you're on the right track too. And one of the interesting things Mark pointed out before we started here as well, is, you know, in the five books of the Bible, or five books of Psalms, are somewhat aligned to the first five books of the Bible.

And so as we enter into Leviticus... alignment here. Now, in some ways, this psalm is kind of reflecting back on the book of Exodus and some of the implications there.

But the day of atonement is a day of blessing and atoning of our sins, as pointed out. But, you know, with that, those that reject God, it will be a great day of judgment, as we did see in the day of the Passover, as we see, you know, in the day of glory when Christ rose from the church, and as symbolized in the Lord's Supper, and further on the day of Pentecost. But here in Leviticus, it's an interesting perspective, because it does ultimately...

Mark, is that there? Yeah, go ahead, Mark. Yeah, I think he finished here.

Yeah, let me read that. I need to find it. Okay, well, we'll let you have some time to do that.

Kevin, any more comments, sir? Well, not at this time. I'm not really able to devote the attention to this Texas as it deserves.

But anyway, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your prayers. I really felt strengthened by God, and I know that was a result of you guys praying for me, and I'm really grateful for that. What's going to happen on Monday and Tuesday is one of the men in the church is going to kind of take us around Hong Kong and show us some of the sites.

And then Wednesday morning, we're going to be flying out. We'll have to fly down to Singapore, from Singapore to Los Angeles, from Los Angeles up to Portland. And we have a 10-hour layover in Los Angeles, which is one of the reasons why we won't get home until Thursday evening.

But God willing, Friday, I'll be back on the net, and I'll need you to text me and tell me. what the psalm is for Friday. I know you don't know that yet, but as we get closer, if you could tell me that, I'd be ready to key up on Friday morning and to be up to speed with all of you.

So yeah, I just got on the radio a few minutes ago. We had a wonderful dinner with our host and all the people from the church were there. And the food in Hong Kong and in Malaysia is just amazing.

So anyway, I'll quit using up time. I know we need to get back to studying the psalm that you're on. But thank you, Jeff, for acknowledging me.

We've had severe lupus, and we go in to pray for his daughter, Tender, who has ongoing multiple chronic health pain. We pray for Mike, KK7N, who had a full-body scan and found stage 4 cancer, praying for treatment options. Lord, we pray for protection of all church leaders.
