Alpha 5, Alpha 5 Yankee. Good morning, everyone. and I'm going to read from the New King James, Psalms 72, and it opens with glory and universality of the Messiah's reign.

Come back there, Psalm of Solomon. First verse. Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness to the king's son.

He will judge your people with righteousness and your poor with justice. He will bring peace to the people and the little hills by righteousness. He will bring justice to the poor of the people.

He will save the children of the needy and will break in pieces the oppressor. Number five, they shall fear you as long as the sun and the moon endure throughout all generations. shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, like showers that water the earth.

In his days the righteous shall flourish in abundance of peace until the moon is no more. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea and from the river to the ends of the earth. Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before him, and his enemies will lick the dust.

The kings of Tarshish and the Isles will bring presents. The kings of Sheba and Sheba will offer gifts. Yes, all the kings shall fall down before him.

All nations shall serve him. For we will deliver the needy when he cries before also, and him who has no helper. Verse 13.

He will spare the poor and the needy and will save the souls of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression and violence, and precious shall be their blood in His sight. 15.

And He shall live, and the gold of Sheba will be given to Him. Prayer also will be made for Him continually, and daily He shall be praised. There will be abundance of grain in the earth, on the top of the mountains; its fruit will live like Lebanon, and those of the cities shall flourish like grass of the earth.

17 His name shall endure forever; his name shall continue as long as the sun, and men shall be blessed by it in him. All nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be the Lord God, the Lord God of Israel, who only does wondrous things.

And blessed be his glorious name forever. And let the whole earth be filled with glory. Amen and amen.

And then verse 20, the prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended. Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee, back to them. Thank you, Beck.

Well, there you go. That sounds like just a praise after praise after praise. Any comments on this one?

Get it started. Well, good morning again, Jeff. And let me just start again.

Mark earlier introduced something we should be aware of in this psalm. And then I'll kind of build on that in the way of an introduction. And Mark pointed out that this is kind of the end psalm of the second book of psalms.

So as many of you... are likely aware that in Hebrew, the Psalms were divided up into five books, basically in correspondence to the five books of the Torah, or the first five books of the Bible. And so Mark was making that point that this is now a transition, the end psalm for the second book, which is generally connected to the book of Exodus.

And now, you know, in 73 forward, before the third book, going into, you know, generally connected to the book of Leviticus. But also one of the things we see here, too, a couple of interesting points on this psalm is this is, The only psalm really devoted or recognized to be specifically to Solomon. And there is some speculation whether maybe Solomon wrote it, or was this the last psalm that David wrote.

And the second book of Psalms are really kind of identified as the collection of Davidic psalms, although there are many ahead. that are connected to David. The second book is recognized as such.

But likely, and as we see in the last verse here, this was a psalm written by David as a coronation or dedication to Solomon, and the transition took place, as we saw in our last psalm, that David was at the end of his life. and continued praising God to the very end. But now we have a new king.

And so as we see this introduction beginning in the first, like first four verses of the psalm, the prayers... that the new king would judge in righteousness and be just in his judgments. But we also see an expansion contained in this psalm as well, from the sitting being really Israel and Jerusalem and surrounded by its enemies, now expanding to the four corners of the earth.

And we see that also in this psalm under this new reign of Solomon. But one of the things we also talked about recently is the typology or the eschatology sometimes contained in the psalms as well. And we see that identified oftentimes as a messianic psalm in this case here too, where we see...

these minutes and prayers for the new King Solomon as he transitions in his just reign and the expansion of the kingdom of God and its influence really is speaking to the king of kings in one hand as well. So these are very real prayers and admonitions for a very specific time and for very specific king, it also carries with it a connection to the typology of our Lord and Savior, the King of Kings, who we know the gospel will be brought to the four corners of the earth, who is the just king, who is the righteous king. And so we see a lot of that in here, too.

So just kind of to set that... stage it by way of introduction of this psalm. And your study Bible will probably have a lot of other nuances contained in this that I won't go into yet.

27 Zedek. All right, Kevin. Excellent, excellent introduction to Psalm 72.

And thank you to Mark for bringing that also to our attention. I see a couple things here. They call this a coronation prayer.

As I read a little bit earlier, the psalmist traditionally attributed to King David for his son and successor Solomon. It served as a prayer or hymn for a new king's coronation. It's a call for justice.

The psalmist asked God to grant the king divine justice. and righteousness so he can fairly judge the people. And it's a protection of the vulnerable, a central duty of the king in this psalm is defending the poor, rescuing the needy, and crushing oppressors, and then forcing land out of love and affection.

It expresses the just ruler will bring peace, prosperity, and life-giving blessings compared to the poor. to rain on the mowed grass to the nation. And you see that down toward the end about the, let's see, like the grass after rain.

So neat stuff. Okay, who else has a comment on this section? Hello?

Hello? Yeah, follow up. Go ahead.

Yeah, just briefly, you know, one of the most direct connections we can see here, too, and I think we recognize it throughout, but it's in verse 10. We can find that direct connection in Matthew 2, 11. Verse 10.

when the kings from the east will come and worship him with great pleasure. And so we can see that really there, the connection directly to verse 10. Give me seven, is that acceptable?

Yes, good observation. The kings from all areas will bring gifts. And let me read, if you guys don't mind, as I always seem to do, because when Max is gone, I can get away with it.

I'm going to read the message. Wow. All right, here we go.

Verse 1. Help the children of the... He opens a place in his heart for the downed out.

He restores the wretched of the earth. He frees them from tyranny and torture. When they bleed, he breathes.

When they die, he dies. And 15, I will have all of them live. that you can read this as the "he" meaning the king, Solomon, the blessing on Solomon in his coronation, and the "he" of the kingdom of God and the great future.

And in other words, it's kind of like the presence of the future, the presence of the future. The Kingdom of Solomon was to be a type of God's Kingdom that would certainly include the whole earth through the coming of our, as Kevin says, the Messianic hope of the future. And we're still waiting for that, of course.

when the new heavens and the earth will take place at revelation 21. But Kevin, am I resonating with you on that perspective? I think I put you back to you, Jeff.

Yeah, good morning, Jeff and everyone on the net and I was kind of just following along in the reading. I'd like to highlight out verse 9 here. It says, "Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before him and his enemies will lick as the dust." And that just reminds me of Philippians, I think it's 2:10.

Let me read that. A lot of my thoughts there. Now basically it says that every knee shall bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

And so that psalm there kind of reminded me of that. I don't know how applicable it is, but it just brought to my recall You know that he is a king of kings and lord of lords and every knee shall bow back to you deaf 87 years The same thing let me read you said nine correct or three Don't you were pretty good first line Yeah, that's correct. Verse 9.

Verse 9, over. Yep, there it is. Okay.

"May desert tribes bow down before him and his enemies lick the dust." Yes. And you're talking about Philippians. Let me find a reference here.

I think you said 2:10. Yeah, there's a bunch of references. Interesting, listen to this one.

"They shall lick the dust like a serpent, like the crawling things of the earth. They shall come trembling out of their strongholds. They shall turn in dread to the Lord our God, and they shall be in fear of you." Interesting, this sounds like in the future all the evil kings and rulers will be turning to the Lord.

Go ahead, Eric. And so it's always kind of been my thing. It was like, you know, I want to serve Him and worship Him and give Him all the glory.

And, you know, there's people out there, you know, they wave their fists in the face of God and, you know, just say, "He doesn't exist." They mock, you know, and, but eventually everyone will bow their knee and confess that He is the Lord. and that's to the glory of the Father. So anyway, that was just my thought.

Like I said, I don't know how applicable that is, but I just read that verse, and it just seemed like that was kind of a, you know, Philippians 2:10 there in 11. Just kind of brought back to my memory with that kind of describing right there. Over.

wonderful observation. And here, it's exactly what we're talking about. You know, this is a prayer and praise and a focus on events, and like you pointed out, the coronation of a new king, and a king that...

to justly reign and be a just and righteous king. But in the context of this, we know this speaks of our greater king, of the king of kings, also at the same time. And you're exactly right, Eric.

You know... the saved and the lost will all be accountable to our Lord and Savior. You know, when John 3, 16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.

Well, in the world there, in the Greek, it's the cosmos, all of creation. You know, God redeemed back all of creation. Christ redeemed all of creation.

Our King of kings and Lord of lords. And all of creation will answer to him. And, yeah, there are many that will be accountable for rejecting our Lord and Savior as they were then and now.

And, you know, one day they will all, we will all stand before the king. Thankfully, most of us, you know, I think most of us here at least, will be in the Lamb's Book of Life. And, you know, our judgment will be a lot different because Jesus' righteousness has been imparted to us.

But there are many of those that will live their life shaking their fist at God. But one day we'll bow before the king of kings. You know, I like the picture of, you know, it's like a rebellious mouse shaking its fist at the tractor.

You know, that tractor is so much greater and bigger than that little mouse, and the mouse can shake its fist at it, but it's going to be brought under. But how much greater and bigger is the righteous judgment of our Lord and Savior? And, you know, why...

Thank you, Pastor. But we know that the second death, the judgment, is eternal. And the consequences are eternal.

And the decisions we make in this life have eternal consequences. KB7, go ahead. Excellent.

Well said. You know, I want to direct everybody over to Zechariah 1420. This is one of my favorite verses, and it really makes my imagination run wild.

On that day, even the bells of the horses will be inscribed with these words, "Holy to the Lord." And the cooking pots of the temple of the Lord will be as sacred as the bases used behind the altar. So, indicating, obviously, even the horses will have inscribed, "Holy to the Lord." Alright Al, can you close us out this morning? Roger, roger, and set.

We have some recent reports. I'm afraid that the case is reduced, and so we have to have great conditions to check the progress again. I'll be afraid that that progress will be good, and we'll continue to make this recovery well.

The Tom WWST is recovering from a stroke and spine surgery. He has to take a wheelchair to receive behavioral therapy and to provide relief to his pain and increase his mobility. Please now also please operate at this time.

Thanks, sir. approval of the cultural freedom of the wheelchair community. And we pray that as our Texas team goes back up, they help out with their work and teach me some character here on the map.

And that help out with my Yankee, we continue to pray for. Good healing from the military, and that their vision and hearing will be restored. And also for their neighbor, Nancy, who needs to be healed from terminal cancer.

And she also needs salvation. and the rate that that rain's on will continue to recover well for turn-in surgery. So Dr.

Jeff Black, the head of the severe ulcerative colitis, we pray that as he went through the medical treatment, he will see well and will continue on. Good trajectory as is so far. We give you praise for that.

Cody can't accept TRL and we ask for comfort seats for Cody at the cabin. This time, we ask you to pass you to Robert Rogers from his Stage 4 captain. Also, we continue to praise for Cody's level down.

A believer with severe head injury. We pray for this ongoing treatment and recovery. Please be still with me at the date of salvation.

And we give you praise, Lord, for the favorable weather conditions we're having right now to support the lifting of wildfires and other disasters. to uh with your candidate the inspection over the uh first market a new The captain would be agreeable and acceptable to the camp operation. and keep up the well-being of faith and authority in God through you and your will. And so thank you, Lord, for your goodness and mercy and your grace in each one of us. And also, in most people, give your son Jesus Christ.

Yeah, so when I was flipping Philippians -- pardon the pun there -- I was turning over to Philippians chapter 2, and I was highlighting verse 10 and 11 there. I also went back up and kind of read from the beginning there, In verse 9, I think you will find this very interesting, and this goes back to our Psalm 68:18 conversation a few days ago. But if you don't mind, I'm going to start from verse 5 and read down.

It says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation, taking on the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men, and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. And here's verse 9 highlighted here. Therefore, God also has exalted...

Therefore, God has also... highly exalted him and given him the name which is above every name and then um this is the Gilp line that's interesting I think in my little conference reference note here it's highlighting Psalm 68:18 so I thought that you'd find that interesting I'm kind of thinking this is the God gave him the name above all names, every name. That was his gift.

And then he gave the gift to men, you know, the Holy Spirit to equip the saints for the spreading of the gospel. So back to you, Roger. What do you think about that?

Okay, I want to go back to Psalm 68. Did you say verse 18 over? Yes, that's the one he received.

Yes. And then in Ephesians 4:8, that's what he gave. Yes.

Ah, yes, yes. Yes. Wow.

That is, that's pretty neat. Yeah, that tension between the interpretation of giving and receiving. Yeah, thank you.

And also, you highlighted Philippians verse 10, and I noticed that that's a quote. where it says in Philippians 2 verse 10, at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow. That is a quote that Paul pulled from Isaiah 45, 23, according to my side reference here.

Isaiah 45, 23 says, and it also refers to Romans 14, verse 11. So a little bit of connection there. But thank you, Eric, for that follow-up.

I appreciate that. WB7V to hell. Yeah, you bet.

I just want to add to that. When I was reading through, I saw my site. There's a verse line in Chapter 2 of Philippians 9.

that 68 18 and i also uh it's like your bible too i do have in verse 10 here also is the f45 23 um highlighted as well on my my notes as well so anyway i just wanted to throw that out there and let you know because it was definitely a very uh that conversation over uh psalm 68 18 was uh uh very uh i just i got so much out of it i appreciate all your um your effort in the kind of just studying that out and gleaning from that scripture. And another thing I'd just like to say is I always appreciate your presence on the net. It's been a blessing being on this net, everybody here that contributes.

I've just gotten so much out of that over the last several months since I've been back on the air. And it's just a joy to get up in the morning and come here and sit around the table with everybody and just glean from the Word of God and just fellowship. And anyway, I just want to say I love you all and I appreciate you all and this is KT70S and you guys all have a blessed day.
