I'm good, Max. I've got a couple of prayer requests and praying for this morning. First is, the first praise is that I get to join the net for the next week each morning because I'm taking a week of vacation next week.

The request is safety and success next week as I use that week to paint my house. um, praise for Jay's cancer numbers. He's had his round of chemo and, uh, I should get the text to speak a little more, uh, correctly about it.

But basically, um, it shows, uh, the latest test shows that he still has cancer cells in his body, but they're not active and they have not increased any. Uh, so next step is the round of, um, radiation to get rid of those. So praises for the numbers and reports that we're getting back.

And then continue prayers through to the total eradication of these cancer cells. Over. AL7KG?

Yeah, copy that. Lee, AL7KG, I heard you. I'll get back to you in just a second.

Hang in there, Lee. Brian, glad to hear that you're going to be with us for the next week. That is wonderful.

My pleasure. Let's all bow our heads. Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day.

We thank you for this Bible study. We thank you for your word, which holds true and always will be. and we thank you for the psalms that we are reading.

And hopefully today you'll give us discernment. As we read the psalms today, we read discernment of your wisdom. And could you please impart it upon us so that we can be better fishermen and men for you and understand your will much clearer.

In Jesus Christ's holy name we pray. Amen. Amen.

Good morning, Peter. See you there on the Utah SDR. Good to have you with us.

And Peter says, good morning to everyone. Good contact there. Okay, I think he's the only one I didn't get checked in.

All right, we are in Psalm 56. Now, in our psalm, the psalm that is before us today, David was in a situation that he did not feel safe in. He had fled from Saul, who was seeking his life, and he'd gone into the land of the Philistines to get away from Saul.

But the Philistines, of course, were the perpetual enemy of the Jews. And David was recognized by some of them. They began to speak against him.

and to stir up hatred and hostility toward him. And so his situation was really precarious. His enemies were vigorous and active and aggressive and relentless, and they plotted and planned his destruction.

and sought every opportunity to destroy him also. And so many of them wanted to take his life just like Saul did. So humanly speaking, David had every reason to be afraid.

He was between a rock and a hard spot. And so he was really concerned about his safety, security, and well-being. And so his fears were not irrational fears.

They were well-grounded fears. They had reason to be afraid. And like David, we have many legitimate fears as well.

We're afraid of the government and the direction it's headed. We are worried and afraid of perhaps a coming economic collapse. We fear the moral degeneracy of our society.

We fear for the future and the safety of our children. We fear for persecution of our health. We fear criminal assault on our persons and our property.

We fear for our children and what might happen to them And so the question arises, how do we deal with our fears? We can't pretend they don't exist and they're not legitimate some of them are So how do we overcome the fear of men and the fear of the future and the fear of circumstances? And the fear of what might happen?

Well the only thing that that's going to assuage our fear of men is to know that someone greater than man is in control of our circumstances, and that people can do nothing without God's permission. It says in Proverbs 3.25, Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither the desolation of the wicked when it comes. For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

And so the lesson of our passage today is faith in God is the antidote to the fear of man. Faith is the antidote to fear. When you know God is for you, and when you know that God is greater than those who want to harm you, then you can lay aside your fears.

And that's what David is doing in this psalm. He says, what time I am afraid, I will trust in you. And so he knows there's many people working against him, but he also knows that God is working for him.

And that being the case, he really has nothing to be afraid of. And so who can ever thwart God and overcome him and do what he does not permit? to happen in your life.

So as we read earlier in Psalm 46 in verse 1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. So faith in God is the antidote to the fear of man. That's the theme.

of our psalm today, and we're going to be looking at that together. So, Eric, KD7ES, if you could read for us Psalm 56. Sure appreciate that.

Go ahead, brother. Okay, yeah, thank you. Reading from the New King James Version today, Psalm 56.

Okay. Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up. Fighting all day, he oppresses me.

My enemy would hound me all day, for there are many in fight against me, O Lord my. Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God I will praise his word.

Amen. In God I have put my trust. I will not fear.

What can flesh do to me? All day they twist my words. All their thoughts are against me for evil.

They gather together. They hide. They mark my steps when I lie and wait, when they lie and wait for my life.

Shall they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples of God. You number my wanderings, put my tears in your bottle.

Are they not in your book? When I cry out to you, then my enemies will turn back. This I know, because God is for me.

In God I will praise His word. In the Lord I will praise His word. In God I have put my trust.

I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Vows made to you are binding upon me, O God.

I will render praises to you, for you have delivered my soul from death. Have you not kept my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? And that is the end of Psalm 56.

Back to you, 8070A. when Saul was in hot pursuit, relentless pursuit, I should say, of David. And David was so desperate that he really jumped out of the frying pan into the fire, as they say, and he went into Gath.

And then he was recognized by those around him he's surrounded by these philistine warriors and he didn't know if he's going to live through the night uh at this point um and you can imagine the the fear you know you're you're first you're hunting being hunted down uh like a wild animal and and to escape uh He goes into Gath, into the Philistine city of Gath, and then he's recognized. And the text there in verse 3, I was afraid, but I will trust in God. I think this is an important connection.

You touched on this in the beginning too, Max. is that connection of fear and trust in God. This is not trusting God in the absence of fear.

This is in trust in God as a result of this fear. And there's many times in our life that we will certainly have that unknown will be faced with fear. You know, maybe sitting down in front of a doctor and we hear the word cancer or the word terminal or the word, hey, our company's coming back and we need to be doing, we're laying you off or whatever the circumstances, there's circumstances in our life that can create great fear.

And so anyway, but the connection between the fear and trusting in God, I think, is important here. And David's response was, you know, I am afraid, but I'm going to trust in God. And then looking at verse 8, one of the most tender verses of this psalm as well.

But anyway, the connection, though, in psalm, And verse 3, I think, is important for us to understand. It's not just trusting Him in the absence of fear, but even and especially when we are faced with fear. KP7, is that acceptable?

Kevin, great observation there. Thank you for that. Yeah, you know, we have a general trust in God all the time.

But, you know, when our feet are in the fire... and there is fear all around, that's especially the time to trust in God. So when he's afraid, he will trust in me.

You know, Kevin, verse 3 is kind of precious to me because I taught that to my kids when they were very young. Our children have lots of fears, right? And some of those fears are irrational.

Some of them are rational, but they're trying to sort out life and figure out what it is they're supposed to be afraid of and not afraid of. And that's a great verse to teach your grandchildren. as they're figuring out life.

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. It's easy to memorize, and a three-year-old can memorize it. And we started teaching our kids Bible verses as soon as they could talk, and this was one of them, verse 3.

So... Yeah, and then, of course, thank you for pointing out verse 8. You know, there's a lot of sorrow in this life.

There's a lot of shedding of tears and crying and grief. We need to know that God counts every one of our tears. He keeps track of them, which is a metaphorical way of saying that He keeps track of our griefs and our sorrows.

And none of our griefs, none of our sorrows are lost on him. He recognizes all of our emotional turmoil, the depth of it, the degree of it, the length of it. And he has compassion on us.

You know, he had compassion on us in our sins. How much more is he going to have compassion on us now that we are his children and that he is our father? So, you know, whatever sorrows you're going through that nobody else sees and nobody else understands, God sees it.

God understands it. He has compassion with reference to it. And He's going to replace every one of those tears with joy and with peace, both in this life and in the next, for sure.

Kevin, thanks for pointing out those two passages, and especially the present tense of when we're in fear, that's the time to trust. All right, any other comments? Please come down.

WB7VZL. Roger, please go ahead. Did you give it back to me?

Roger, I did. I gave it back to you. Go ahead, Roger.

Okay. Yeah, I have some interference on the frequency from a transmitter way far away making a funny sound. Yes, when you were going through the background, of David actually in the proximity of the Philistines and quotes under their protection, which is very unusual.

And you can imagine that he is on the alert because they have long memories. and here is the fellow that slew Goliath and precipitated into a tremendous victory. So David was aware of someone who would love to be able to have the reputation that I paid back or I took care of David.

There's always those in the world that would love to have that reputation in their life. So you can imagine that there was good reason for him to be looking over his shoulders all the time and to those hidden enemies, etc. I think, yeah, I wish I could have heard Kevin, but verse 8 also has that wonderful reference in Malachi, Malachi 3:16.

about the book of remembrance since we're talking about memory. God has a wonderful memory, and he illustrates it in this passage of Malachi 3.16. It has a book.

A book of remembrance was written before him, our Lord. for those who fear the Lord and esteem His name. And that's the one that I wanted to focus it on.

Over. Real good, Roger. Thank you for that.

Yeah, I have Malachi 3.16. It says, The day that feared the Lord spoke often one to another. and the Lord hearkened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord and that thought on his name." So yeah, Steve said the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the earth.

He sees everything. He hears everything. He knows everything.

And he knows who his people are. He knows the sufferings they're going through. He sees the sacrifices they make on his behalf.

He observes the service that they give for the glory of His name and His people. And He takes account of all of that, and He rewards, protects, and provides for us in those times of crisis. And, you know, Roger, you're so right.

God doesn't ever forget. there's there's a verse in Hebrews let me just turn to it for a second there and I think it's in chapter six I'm trying to turn here with one hand yeah here it is Hebrews 6:10 Hebrews 6:10 for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love which you have showed toward his name In that, you have ministered to the saints and do minister. So there's another one about how God remembers what we have done for him and for the sake of his name and for his people.

Jesus says, if you've done it to the least of these, my brethren, you've done it to me. So, yeah, our psalm. And so, you know, Satan desires to devour.

You know, in 1 Peter chapter 5, it says, Your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. *Mutual Radio* - - I'm not going to get into that, but They could look back to the time of Exodus when they had their backs against the walls and the entire Egyptian army was after them and they had no hope at all. And it was a horrifying thing to be back against the wall like that.

And then to see God lift the waters and stand and stand on the other side and watch, watch that entire army get engulfed in the water is a tremendous, tremendous idea. I just saw that these are things that happened and we can take real confidence and real shelter in the idea that we served the God who did that. My goodness.

And he is all power possibly doesn't do that in respect to our person. Mark, great comments. For those of you who weren't able to hear Mark, he was just talking about this section of Psalms echoes the stories of Exodus.

in which Israel was leaving Egypt. She had her back to the Red Sea, or her front to the Red Sea, and behind her were Pharaoh's armies. And he was referencing the fact that Israel was delivered through the Red Sea, while Pharaoh's army was drowned in the Red Sea.

And so from that retrospective, looking back on the history, of how God fought for his people, God stood with his people, God delivered his people from their fears, we can draw confidence in the present. You know, and this is one of the reasons why God gives us so much history in the Bible, is because it's a record of how he deals with his people, and the same God who delivered Israel during the Exodus. is the same God who delivered David during all of his times of struggles.

It's the same God who delivered the Lord Jesus from those who wanted to harm and destroy him. That same God is protecting us and looking out for us. So, you know, it's really important in the present to look back over the past and draw encouragement from the past as we see what God has done.

And since he's the same yesterday, today, and forever, that same power that delivered Israel through the Red Sea and away from Pharaoh, that same power that delivered David from both Saul and the Philistines, is that same power that's working with us and for us. So, Mark, thanks for that retrospective and that framework from which to view these passages. All right, any other comments?

Please come down. Roger, please go ahead. Well, yes, in that light, I was unable to hear Mark, but thank you for your summary.

But yes, the same God of David also moves Hezekiah. And God is not afraid to reference that in this marvelous passage referring to tears. and the illustration in 2 Kings 20:5.

And here's what is said to the prophet: 2 Kings 20:5 Return, and say to Hezekiah, the leader of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of your father David, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord." And that's where he gets 15 more years. So God responds to the great, great, great grandson of David.

And don't take me literally on that anyway, but yeah, the continuity... spiritual continuity the Davidic is Davidic covenant and that God is listening to all of our tears over came in yes he is and you know it reminds me of how Jesus was at the tomb of Lazarus and it says Jesus wept you know as a mayor he understood sorrow he understood grief he understood loss And, you know, he wept over Jerusalem. You know, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, how oft would I have gathered thee?

And so we see our Lord Jesus was a man of tears. And so for us to weep and shed tears and to be grief-stricken and filled with sorrow... Yeah, well said, Brian.

Yeah, the fear of God casts out all other fear. And so when God says, "Don't fear those who kill the body, and after that they can do no more, but rather fear Him who is able to kill both body and soul in hell," you say, "And you fear Him?" Yes. We only have one object of fear, and that's God.

And of course that fear that we have is not the fear of dread and terror. It's the fear of respect and honor and the recognition. that he is above us, we are beneath him.

It's the fear of humility. It's the fear of thankfulness. It's the recognition that God is a great God and that he is greater than all of our enemies.

So thank you for sharing. that passage in Luke 12 for Brian. All right, over to you, Kevin, KV7 Zedek Sin.

Go ahead. KV7 Zedek Sin. Boy, what wonderful comments.

And it's so good that I can hear Mark on the SDR, Brian here on the SDR, and Roger, good to hear you again. Such wonderful thoughts and comments. I just was reflecting on here where David says, "In God whose words I praise, in God who I place my trust, I will not be afraid." Here we see this beautiful trust in the covenant relationship of David and God too.

Despite the circumstances, he is trusting in he's still afraid but he's not going to be governed by that fear and it really to me reflects Romans 8:31 if God is for us who can stand against us and you know you we met he faced enormous human opposition surrounded by his enemy here And as Roger pointed out, you know, I'm sure it's still fresh in your mind that this is the guy that slew Goliath. You know, they knew the song that Saul slew his son. 1000 and David is 10,000 and yet here he is right in their hands and it's surrounded by their warriors but but again the perspective of you know the temporary human nature that we have this life when you hold up the opposition of man against a divine eternal promise of God, there's no comparison.

Well, David clearly trusted in that divine promise of God and the God of eternity, the God of creation, the God of assurance. And we have access to that same promises, the same promises of God. And in our eternal hope, thank you to our Lord and Savior Jesus, which has also been pointed out here because of his promise, because of his fulfillment of his word.

And anyway, but Psalm 831 also came to mind in reference to we're not going to be ruled by fear. We've got the eternal hope in Christ. KB7, is that acceptable?

Yeah, Kevin, thank you for that. I'm going to turn over to Psalm 8 and verse 31 and just read that to us. Well, there is no Psalm 831.

I got that reference wrong. Try that again, Kevin. Go ahead.

Did I get that wrong? Maybe it's Psalm 833? No, I think...

that had to be Romans 831. I think I misheard you. I think you meant Romans 831, which is God is for us, who can be against us.

I think that's it, Kevin. Go ahead. You're exactly right.

It is Romans 831 I was referring to. My mistake. Yeah, no worries.

You know, Carol, KK7TPO, I have seen you forever there on the Utah SDR, and I keep thinking I got to call out Carol's name, and I keep forgetting. Carol, KK7TPO, we got you checked in, girl. We know you've been there a long time.

Thanks for your patience with net control. All right, back to our song. We're out of time, by the way.

We've got to stop. But Kevin brought out something really important. In God will I praise His Word, in the Lord will I praise His Word.

So it's in the Word of God that all of the promises are contained. It's in the Word of God that all the revelations of God's love and protection and power are contained. And so when we're afraid, not only do we pray to the Lord and trust in the Lord, but we remind ourselves from the Scriptures...

about who this Lord is like and about what He does for us and about what He's promised to us. And so when you're afraid, you need to pray and then open your Bible and start reading. And I find that the more I read my Bible, the less worried I am about my circumstances because the more I see God and the more I see the promises He's made, the more I see, as Mark KJ7PVC said, the past deliverances that God has provided.

And so reading the Word is an important part to overcoming our fears. And so God delivers us. God will continue to deliver us in the present and God will deliver us in the future.

All of that is promised in the scriptures. Alright, I got a text message here from somebody. Let me see who that is.

Yeah, CodyK7TRF, okay. Cody sent me an update on his uncle and father. He says, "Yesterday, my uncle," he's the one who had the severe head injury, "was transferred to the rehab facility and sent to start physical therapy on Monday, has a long road ahead of him, It went from 300 pounds to about 150 pounds.

Wow. My father is in more pain, can't sleep and is getting weaker, can't eat. They've delayed starting his chemo until the 19th.

They're both in the Lord's hands. The Lord is faithful. Cody, KI7TRF, thank you for that update.

on your dad who has stage four cancer and on your uncle who had the severe head injury, Cody. We got those. I will be praying about those when I close in prayer today.

All right, well, let's go to the Lord in prayer. Father, thank you so much for this song. What an encouragement it is.

Father, all of us have fear about a whole variety of things. The Lord, we know that you are the solution to every fear and that in the new heavens and the new earth, there will be no more fear. Amen.

Father, until then, help us to exercise faith in you, help us to read the scriptures, and then help us, Father, to recognize that you are managing our enemies. They are known to you. They are under your control.

And whatever plans they have for us, if they're not your plans, then they will never come to pass. And Father, whatever plans you have for us, we know that those are plans for good and not for evil, to bring us into that glorious expected end that you have provided us with, and that is to be like your Son and to be with him in heaven. And so, Father, we thank you for all the past deliverances from fears we had.

that you have brought us through and out of. And Lord, we just stand today in confidence in your promises and in your character and in your power, Father, that you will deliver us from our present fears. Father, we just want to bring before you now the need for the group.

Father, we just want to continue to give you praise and thanks for Keith K7NEB, his son, coming home safe from the fire lines fighting wildfires. Lord, we're grateful that you sustained his life. Be with the rest of the firefighters who are out there.

Lord, give them safety, give them strength, and give them victory over this evil. THAT THREATENED SO MANY AND HAS TAKEN LIVES ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR. FATHER, WE WANT TO PRAY FOR KEITH, K-7 NEB'S DAUGHTER, SIERRA, FATHER, WHO IS PREGNANT WITH A BABY THAT'S NOW BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH SPINE ABYPHETUS.

LORD, I KNOW THERE'S TREATMENTS IN UTERO THAT THEY CAN DO, AND, LORD, I PRAY THAT YOU GIVE DOCTORS WISDOM IN KNOWING WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO MANAGE THIS SITUATION. LORD, GIVE SIERRA AND KEITH. and Ciara's husband, just the peace that passes all understanding.

And, Father, I just pray that you would have mercy on that situation and that you would provide grace and that, Father, that you would be pleased to take this baby and wrap your arms around it and, Father, bring it into your heavenly kingdom. as you see fit, either through a lifetime or, Father, you know, in other ways. Lord, we just want to pray today for Ted, KK7OQQ, who's taking some prednisone for his eyes.

Father, I pray for the healing of his eyes. I pray, Lord, that you would have mercy on him and that you would enable him, Father, to be able to see clearly. so he can reach your word.

Father, I just want to pray today for our brother Ed in 660H. And his brother-in-law Ed and his wife need to sell their house. And, Father, we pray that when Ed flies home from Sacramento on Monday that she would have a safe trip.

Father, we want to pray for Brian, KA7ZIP. Thank you, Lord, that he's going to be able to be with us for the next week. Lord, bless his efforts to paint his house.

I pray that would go well. I need to be really pleased with the results, and you give strength and grace for that. And then, Lord, for the good news on Jay.

Lord, we've prayed a long time for Jay. Thank you for answering those prayers. Lord, continue to heal Jay.

Thank you that the cancer has been beaten down. and is inactive, but Lord, we just pray that it would be eradicated. May the radiation treatments coming up be effective in achieving that goal.

Father, we just want to pray for Will. Keep him like five foxtrots. He's going to be gone the rest of today through Monday.

Father, I just pray that you give he and Martha Faye a safe trip, that you would bless them greatly, Father, in their celebration of 52 years of marriage. And, Lord, we just look forward to seeing them back early next week. Father, I pray for Carol, KK7TPO.

I just want to thank you, Lord, for healing her lower back pain. Lord, we're really grateful for that answer to prayer. We continue to pray for her son-in-law, Chris.

Lord, that his rehabilitation and recovery from his back surgery would go well. I pray that he would have wisdom in what he does and doesn't do in the process of healing. Father, just give him wisdom.

Father, we continue to pray for Tom. WW7T, Whiskey, Whiskey, 7 Tango. Father, just continue to heal Tom from his spinal surgery.

Lord, relieve him from pain. Give him mobility. And, Lord, may his need for an electric wheelchair be met.

Father, I pray that Medicare would approve that and pay for that. Father, we just want to continue to pray for Beck Alpha, Alpha 5 Yankee, for the healing of his double vision, for the healing of his hearing. And for his wife, Sandy, Father, who has a severe cold, pray for her healing as well.

Lord, we pray for their neighbor, Karen. pardon me, Nancy is her name. We pray for their neighbor Nancy, who needs salvation and healing from her cancer also.

Father, continue to pray for my pastor, Jeff Black. Lord, that you would have mercy on him. Heal him, Father, from this ulcerative colitis.

And Father, I pray that his body would work well and function well. and that he would be able to return to preaching. Father, we pray for CodyKI7TRF.

Father, he just gave us an update on his dad who is in more pain, can't sleep, is getting weaker, and can't eat. Lord, they've delayed his chemo because of his physical debility. Lord, we just trust Roger into your hands.

And, Lord, we pray that you would show him mercy today either in healing or, Father, in taking him to be with yourself. Lord, we know that we're all going to die one of these days of something or the other. And if this is your will, Father, just pray that you would take him quickly and easily.

And, Father, if it's not your will, then bring him healing and strength. Lord, we pray for Doug, Cody's uncle, Father, who is now in rehab. Apparently God is feeding two about.

We're grateful for that. Lord, we just pray that his physical therapy would go well and that he would be able to recover and return to a normal life that he had before this accident that he fell into. Father, we continue to pray for our brother Jerry, KG6J, and for his acute and chronic back pain.

Pray for relief for that. Thank you for the good report he gave this morning. That's your presence and blessing on his life yesterday.

May that continue day by day. and may you labor together with him in the work he has to do. Father, continue, we pray, to suppress these wildfires in the western United States.

We pray for the safety of the firefighters. And Lord, we just pray that the smoke would clear. and that no more lives would be lost or structures.

Father, we pray for Steve, W6YSI, the sale of his home in Challenge, and for wisdom in finding a new home to purchase in Tuolumne County, California. Father, just pray that you provide him with a place where he can... put up an antenna and continue to enjoy the ham radio hobby.

Father, we continue to pray for Scott, KD7YQT, for his wife, Pam, who has severe lupus. Father, I pray that that would go into remission. Father, we pray for his daughter, Kendra, and her ongoing multiple chronic health needs.

And Lord, we pray for Scott as he travels Thursday through Monday to a family gathering. Father, we pray that you would give him safety and blessings as Pam remains home alone. May you care for her.

And, Lord, we also pray for Mike, Kilo Kilo 7 November, who has an elevated red blood cell count, Father, whatever that indicates. and whatever needs he has in the area of his health, we pray that you would provide healing for him. Lord, continue to heal our brother Al, KJ7QQH, from his cellulitis.

Lord, we pray that his Fern Ridge Christian Church would get a pastor. And Lord, we just want to pray for the silent multitude who listens to the West Coast Bible study. We pray that God would meet their needs.

Lord we pray that blessing would flow to them through the ministry of the word and prayers here on the west coast Bible study father we continue to pray for Brian kj7 PWM thank you Lord for his new antenna we pray for Chris his friend who has been kind of distant and Lord we pray for his salvation We pray that Brian would be able to reconnect with him and that, Lord, you would open his heart to the gospel. Just cause Chris to call Brian up and discuss the issue of his soul's condition with Brian. Lord, we want to pray for Jeff AK6OK and his ongoing Bible distribution to the soldiers.

and the installation of chapels and the Navy ships, Lord, as you provide funds and opportunity. Lord, may those Bibles go out, may those ships be equipped and made worship, and salvation of the soldiers be advanced as a result. Lord, we thank you that Leal 7KG is going to church today.

And, Lord, we pray your blessing on him as he goes. And Lord, we just ask that he would be edified and be a source of blessing to those that he is going to minister to. Father, others are going to church today.

We think of Roger. And Father, we think of Ed and others. Lord, just pray that the pastors would have good messages.

Pray for those who go to church on Sunday, Lord, for their pastors, that they would be able to preach in the power of the Spirit and build up the faith as well. And now, Lord, we just want to pray for the unsaved and the unchurched in our communities, that as we reach out, that they would have open hearts. and that, Lord, you would cause the gospel to go forth and a multitude of people to come to saving faith in Jesus.

And now, Father, we just want to thank you for your goodness and mercy and grace to each one of us. Thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. And, Lord, we just thank you for the promises he's made.

and the provision he supplied for us to be reconciled to you through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Father, we pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

I wanted to ask a question but I didn't want to distract from our conversation there. But I heard KB7ZXN mentioned about how this song was written. when David was captured by the Philistines in Gath.

And then I know under my heading here, it says, a mictum of David when the Philistines captured him in Gath. And so my question is, is this the part where... when he went in there and he was like, uh-oh, what am I going to do now?

And that's when he started kind of acting insane and acting like a, like a wild animal and drooling and everything. And, and then they said, Is this not the David? Is this the David that they sing songs about?

The song is "Late His Thousands" and "David His Tens of Thousands" and this surely can't be the same person. And that is the part, I believe it is, I can't recall, but every time I read that I just get a chuckle out of that when David did that. Yeah, that's exactly right.

That is the situation. That is the background. And we had another psalm that related to that same incident.

And so anyway, you're correct. That's the background. That's the situation there.

and that was the deliverance. So thanks for pointing that out. And that is the background.

I didn't really want to flip around and try to remind you 'cause I just didn't want to get distracted from what was being said. But anyway, I thought that was the case. And like I said, every time I read through that, I just kind of get a chuckle.

And anyway, WV7VZL, Roger, it's good to hear you back and missed you for those days. And definitely was praying for you because I wasn't really sure what was going on, but it turns out that you're at the coast and enjoying a little bit of rest and relaxation. So anyway, back to you, Max.

Yeah, it was, I think, 1 Samuel 21, 10 through 15. which gives the account that you just described there. And, yeah, before he had escaped, this is, you know, this is the fear he was certainly dealing with when he was kind of caught between a rock and a hard spot, if you will.

So, but, yeah, I thought that was... I chuckled, too, how his... pretending to be insane and then them just wanting to get rid of him so anyway uh agree good net good to hear everyone and honestly it is so good to hear brian and and i could hear mark today on the pretty well and roger always good to hear him back too so anyway and and the others too steve and other good comments anyway uh blessings to all today kb7 is that extent All right, real good, Kevin.

Thank you for that. Yep, wonderful net today and good things to take away and some good passages to commit to memory so that they're there when we're in times of difficulty. I've used that passage many times.

What time I'm afraid, I will trust in thee. One of the nice things about teaching memory verses to your kids is that you get to memorize them too. And then they stick with you for the rest of your life.

yeah this is katie 70 years again and uh i was just gonna say uh sounds like you have a pretty uh busy day today there uh maps uh uh sounds like you're gonna be uh doing quite a bit of things today so yeah tracy and i also we have kind of a full I tend to go out to get our pictures taken, and we haven't done that for probably 10 years. Anyway, that's always fun, getting your picture taken. Copy that.

I'm glad you guys are doing that. You know, we've got those hanging on the wall. From time to time, we go to a professional studio.

and have a picture taken of us and our kids and whatnot. And you know, at the time you think, "Ah, you know, that's expensive and it's a hassle." But I'll tell you, you know, here I am 70 years old, right? I've been married for 51 years.

And you look back at those pictures of you when you were 35 or whatever, and the kids were little, and you're really, really glad you have those. And so good for you guys. I'm glad you're doing that.

And you will really appreciate 10, 15 years from now looking back on those pictures. And it will be good memories and a source of smile to your face. So good for you guys, Eric.

I'm glad you're doing that. Over. Yeah, and we're going to be going to be on a friend that's a photographer, and we actually won the, I guess the sitting key or whatever they call it.

We won that in a raffle that we... put some money in for like this fundraiser that's going on for Christmas. And we won that and so we got a friend of ours to shoot a photographer.

So we're going to be actually, we won't be in a studio, we actually will be in a park. And there's some nice settings and whatnot, backgrounds and whatnot. We'll be doing that.

And anyway, yeah, another thing I was going to say, too, out of nowhere, I haven't really kept too close in contact, but I have an uncle in Michigan. Originally I was born in Michigan, but I got this letter in the mail. Well, it wasn't a letter, it was some pictures.

Right. Some pictures. One was from 1988 and I was visiting my grandmother in south, well, Osceola, which is a little bit of a suburb of South Bend.

So I think I was like almost 19. And actually I was 19 actually, when I think about it. Anyway, I just got done with my basic training in the Air Force, and I went through my technical training, and I was in Illinois.

And so I thought, I need to go visit my grandmother in Indiana. I hadn't seen her in years. And anyway, so he sent me that picture.

And then there was another one with my grandmother when we were real little. I think I was eight years old. And we were standing outside her house and it was a picture.

So it was a wonderful blessing and a surprise. I don't know when I -- my wife gets these alerts from the political service. And it says, "You're getting a letter from your Uncle Steve in Michigan." And I'm like, "Oh, what were you sending me?" And so it was supposed to show up, I think, Saturday, last Saturday, but for some reason it didn't end up in the mailbox.

So then we had to wait until, I think, Monday. And then we got it, and it was these wonderful pictures that just brought back so many memories. It was such a blessing.

Anyway, this is 27ES, back to you, Max. Back to you. Yeah, well, you know, they all say that one picture is worth a thousand words, and that's really true.

And, you know, to be able to see those pictures, and call back those memories. What a blessing that is. So, praise the Lord, Eric.

I'm glad that that connection was made, that memory was stirred up, and that joy was experienced as you reflected on those pictures. So, you guys get all spruced up. We expect every hair to be in place, fancy clothes on.

And an outdoor setting, that's pretty cool. And... Yeah, I think that should provide some interesting backgrounds and situations for you guys to have those pictures and you'll look back on those with great fondness.

Hopefully the sun will come out today. It's overcast here right now at my place. I don't know what it's like up there in Salem, but it'd be nice if you had some good sunshine for those photos.
