Psalms 46, verse 1. God is our refuge and strength. a very present help in trouble therefore we will not fear even though the earth is be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea though its waters war and be trouble so the mountains shake With its swelling, there is river whose streams shall make glad the city of God.

The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her. She shall not be moved.

God shall help her just at the break of dawn. The nations raged and the kingdoms were moved. He uttered his voice.

The earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come behold the works of the Lord who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars safe to end a error. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two.

He burns the chariot in the fire. Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations.

I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Good morning. Yeah, I wanted to make sure I wasn't on top of somebody or not recognized here. Yeah, I have the very powerful Lutheran hymn, A Mighty Fortress.

is our God. I have it before me. It was written in 1529 by Martin Luther, and it became actually the hymn of the Reformation, and it's based upon verse 1.

of this hymn, but it got described through the four verses many of the aspects of this entire psalm. So I just wanted to, when I heard we were going to do 46, I just had to bring back some Reformation history. So back to you, Jeff.

Yes, that song goes back many, many years. When I started going to church at about five years old, I remember that being sung every single Sunday. Do you want to sing it for me?

I think I'll pass on that. Go ahead, Jim. No, that's not my thing either.

I don't sing well. But, yes, that is a great reference, and it brings back some old memories. I went to church.

I was forced to go to church. Man, I hated church when I was a little tiny kid. It was in the Odd Fellows home in Concord, California.

And I still remember the building. I still remember the pine floors in that place. It just gave me the creeps.

But look what I'm doing now. How much of a change is that? Thanks so much for your comments there.

If you feel like singing, man, just go for it. All right, who else wants to comment on this one? I'm looking up a reference here, and it talks about applying Psalm 46 to daily life means treating God as your safe home and letting go of panic when life feels loud.

And isn't that what's going on right now? Just listen to the news once in a while. Oh my gosh.

And remembering that he's in control and you can live out these truths through three daily habits. Finding shelter, practicing stillness, and trusting stability. it's interesting this is a great thing to pray every morning that the God you've got this under control even though it looks like things are spiraling out of control and it sure does look like that I don't ever remember a time in my 72 years like this it really has changed so any more comments go ahead good morning this is the West Coast Bible study ak6 okay go ahead Roger, go ahead.

Okay, I'll step in here in the vacancy. But what I have always, and I've commented upon this before too, when God in verse 7 and then in verse 11 says, "I will not be a sinner, but I will not be a sinner." his identity with Jacob. Here's the guy whose name means deceiver.

That's a pretty strong identity in the negative, a deceiver. And those of you who have read the story of Jacob and Esau, know that he was persuaded by his dear mom to deceive his father over, of all things, the spiritual birthright. So a deception regarding spirituality.

Ever hear of that? But here God is saying, I'm the God of Jacob. And what I love about it is that God ends up wrestling with Jacob at the brook, and Jacob says, I will not let you go, God, until you bless me.

And from that time on, the angel of the Lord, which is our pre-incarnate Jesus, he touched Jacob in the hip. And from then on, Jacob limped. but his name change was Israel so he became Israel the overcomer through God's strength anyway the identity of God with Jacob I think is such an amazing great statement in the Bible back to you Jeff okay good Roger and and in the message and I know the message is a translation But it says it will.

Just what you're talking about. Jacob, wrestling God, fights for us. God of angel armies protects us.

Attention all, see the marvels of God. He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, bans war from pole to pole. Breaks all weapons across his knee.

Step out of the traffic. Take a long, loving look at me, your high God above politics and everything. Jacob, wrestling God, fights for us.

God of angel armies. protects us there you go so interesting and and back to Psalm 46:1 our message God is a safe place to hide ready to help when we need him we stand fearless at the cliff edge of doom are we all doing that quite often I think of Glenn here Look at his situation. Good morning. I wasn't able to hear Mark, so I'm not sure what he said. I might have to start logging into the Weazer SDR as well.

good comments on this and I have heard and it is interesting and thank you Roger for pointing that out this was also quite a go-to him for Martin Luther during his many troubles he found much comfort in in that that him our mighty fortress and it's interesting even in this it denotes a being sung by women likely soprano to have a very clear distinct singing and we three see it kind of presented in three stanzas three seven and eleven It was a little pause in between for meditation or to reflect. And there is too much to reflect on. And one of the things, just right out of the gate, is such a powerful statement.

Whether the mountains slide into the sea, the foundations of the earth shake, the sea The idea here clearly is everything we know in this world is shaken and can be broken apart and can be dismounted. But one thing that will never change, one thing that is the solid rock that is available to us as believers and our refuge is God. and not only is he great and mighty and and the stable force but he's a very personal and accessible God as well and we can find comfort and shelter and peace in him and go to him and when when everything in in our world seems to shake and eat whether it literally takes place as sometimes happens or will in in circumstance we can always take comfort and find refuge in our walk with the Lord because he cannot be shaken kb7 is that except all the experiences that I've gone through, even though they were painful, and I went through chemo, radiation, all that stuff, went through lots of hospital stays and everything.

But I did come out the other end, and if you don't come out the other end, you end up in heaven, and that's the ultimate awesome outcome anyway. Settle in on and take to the bank and that's the beast still knows that I am God and that's the bottom line. So that's my general message.

Go ahead there earlier Eric at KJ722H. Yeah, take it away Eric. And so we could be going, like with your situation, we could be going through so many things in life, but he brings you through that and stronger.

And it's just like what the Apostle Paul wrote that he said, you know, all things work to good for those that love God. And so he. and I man I hang my hat on that one even though we see what's going on in the world right now and here in the US all of the crazy stuff stuff you couldn't even imagine years ago that's going on you look around and think God are you there do you really have a handle on this and the answer is of course it's sin in the world that's causing all of this, which is spoken about in the Bible all over the place, right?

The world's full of this. So anyway, it's a great comfort to read Psalm 46 here and realize... God's standing right there with us all the time and we have nothing to fear.

And I talk to my wife about this all the time, about fear. This hospital stay that she had recently has caused her to be a little bit fearful, but she loves the Lord, always has and always will. And it's great for all of us to comfort our wives, husbands, whoever, and say, hey, hang on a second.

As you go through this, remember who God is. God trumps all of this stuff. So anyway, great.

Okay. Cam 5F, good morning. Yeah, I think it was Al that was trying to focus on verse 10, which in the NLT says, Be still and know that I am God.

I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. I think he was focusing on the be still and know that I am God.

Cam 5F. Yes, be still and know that I am God. And eventually all of these countries, all of these horrible people that are out there causing such grief are going to be on their knees praising the Lord.

And that's right, be still, sit back and relax and watch God do his work. It's a very tough thing to do because as humans we're not wired that way. We are wired to be fearful when something happens.

And yeah, there's a lot of reflection in this text here. I just wanted to comment too on the picture you have too on the city and the river of around the city from the throne. This is a theme that is also throughout Scripture, whether in Ezekiel 47 or Revelation 22, John 7, 37, he talks about a river of life.

All of this denotes the divine river that gives life to all that would partake. AND OF COURSE THE HOLY SPIRIT, BUT THE DIVINITY, THE DIVINE RIVER THAT FLOWS FROM THE THRONE OF GOD THAT WE SEE HERE BOTH IN EZEKIEL AND IN REVELATION 22 IS THAT RIVER OF LIFE THAT GIVES LIFE just because of what I'm thinking. But when I get home at night, a place of peace, my blood pressure drops like a rock.

This becomes a problem with many patients because just naturally when I get home to a place of peace, I'm in good shape. My blood pressure drops. Let's relax.

Everything is good. We should be doing this all day long from the minute you get to your office or the minute you get to going in the morning, whether you're sitting in a Starbucks restaurant or you're in the most stressful job there is, we need to have peace in our spirits because God's who he said he is. And right here in Psalm 46, you're correct.

Down there in verse 10. to cease striving and know that I am God I will be exalted among the nations I'll be exalted in the earth great great comment there okay who's next ak6 okay anybody had a similar situation to mine where you've gone through some pretty bad stuff I know Beck has just gone through that as well and the prayers of the people I'm convinced help take care of that Beck you want to say something about that you just went through some bad stuff you know I'm kind of I'm not lost but what I do know is this What happened to me increased my faith in God. It didn't take away.

I'm not saying, God, why did you let this happen to me? I'm just not saying that. I don't feel that.

And I'm kind of wondering in the back of my head if the reason why it didn't happen was to... reinforce the fact that I believe in God and that give me more strength and as a stronger belief I don't know what else to say Jeff well you said enough that's exactly what it's all about so it is just increased for those you haven't heard didn't hear back it's just increased his faith and back just it just a comment you're not you're not upset at God that it happened are you I just am curious No, not at all. Yeah, because sometimes we blame God and say, God, why did you let this happen to me?

Unfortunately for me, I did not go that direction, but you certainly could. Your mind could take you there, and the enemy can certainly convince you. Oh, gee, your God did that to you?

No, I don't think so. But we tend to kind of go that direction at times. Why me?

And as I listen to the prayer concerns, I talk to my wife about this all the time. As I listen to the prayer concerns right here on this net, wow, we've got it pretty well. There's a lot of really big suffering going on out there.

But we've got to remind ourselves that God is good. He's there when he says he's there. He's there constantly.

And we have nothing to fear. And we just have to remind ourselves of that. And this passage is a great...

A great thing to remind us and kind of center us again when we get into the middle of this stuff, and just remember part of our job is to tell people about our testimony. That is part of what this is all about. It's hard to tell your testimony when you haven't been through anything.

People who haven't gone through diversity in their lives, probably don't have a lot to talk about with respect to God, but when you go through things like people are going through right now, boy, mighty, mighty powerful testimony. So, anyway, all right, let's wrap this up pretty quick. Anybody else have any comments on Psalm 46?

Go ahead. The comments about people going through a lot reminded me that I had a change of plans. I was going to go through Spokane.

And am I going to lean on the God who is their refuge right now? So I just want to encourage us to include this cocaine area in our appeals. that God's Spirit will move hearts to hang in with Him.

Over. Yeah, boy, that's something we'll add to the prayer list, of course, and to all the people in the Spokane area that are on the run right now because of the fires. All the believers who get burned out there are going to have an incredible testimony.

Though you have to go through this stuff, it's horrible. I was thinking about that yesterday. Of course, the remote that I use here is in Coeur d'Alene.

It's not too far away. And I was just thinking, you know, could that happen to Coeur d'Alene? It could.

It could. And as you watch all this, you've got to just remember God's still running this show. And that fire, does it represent sin?

Very much so. And so let's keep those people in and throw it up there. Who else is in there?

Yeah, go for it. Okay, well, part of this is going to sound like a broken record, and I apologize, but... You know, it's part of me and part of my story.

I'm sticking to it. No. Gert said to me the reason why the accident happened to me, he believes, is because the devil was attacking me.

I stated that to Pastor Max, and Pastor Max said that, God knew that this was going to happen to me, but he watched over me to make sure that I didn't die. And I have all these different thoughts of other people's, what they said, running around in my head. And the part of the devil attacking me, the Holy Spirit gave me a song.

And I really believe that's the reason why I survived. I'm supposed to put this song together. and get it out there.

It's a good place, though. And that's why I'm here. And the other thing is that runs through my mind that I've heard all my life is God never gives you more than you can handle.

So that there makes me feel like this is all part of God's plan, and I'm just going to try and do what he wants. I'm not exactly sure what he wants, but I'm praying that the Holy Spirit will guide me to do what's needed. Alpha Alpha Phi Yankees.

yeah becky what a good great comment uh and and absolutely uh we all we all to go through this stuff aren't we blessed and and the fact that we put our trust in god is worship in the middle of all this. You say to yourself, "You know what? I know I'm going through this.

I know this is going to come out okay in the end, and I'll have a testimony." I was thinking about this yesterday, I think it was Psalm 45 we were reading, as you go through this stuff and as you put your trust in God that's a form of worship and God loves this stuff obviously so great comments you guys let's open it for one more comment or prayer concerns we're about ready to close things up here any prayer concerns hanging out there yeah Kevin go ahead I'm going to Well, and kind of concluding here, good comments and observations and applications shared for sure. And wow, Roger, yeah, that is devastation in Spokane. It's just heartbreaking to see that.

and folks certainly need our prayers. But I just wanted to reflect on this. You know, this is citing a real event that took place where God intervened.

Some say maybe back in the situation with Jehoshaphat, many scholars believe it was likely the siege of, Jerusalem and 2 Kings 19 by Syria but the nevertheless God stepped in and let and as we look at the text here consider the mighty works that God has done and we can and we we see throughout his word we see throughout his life where God has stepped in and has shown His authority over whether the disciples in the boat in the wild sea of Galilee and they were feared for their life and Jesus calmed the seas and ye of little faith, He certainly has control over all nature. Whether His promise in Matthew 16, 18, upon this rock I shall build my church... on the foundation of him, because he is the head of the church, his church will stand.

It will not fail, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against her. And we see the assaults throughout the centuries against the Lord's churches. but they will not fail because the Lord is present.

And we see the future promises and the future hope when the heavens and earth shall pass away and we shall have a new heaven and earth. We know we can trust God in that. He is the Almighty and our refuge for today and our assurance for tomorrow.

He was a person who saw the residents in stage 4 colon cancer. He was healing for his uncle Doug, a believer with a severe head injury. The first of his uncle was treated in recovery.

Only Steve and Zoe need salvation. Lord touched her heart. Keith, didn't he say in the NKR, "Pray for Keith to trust God in the typical things we do?" It's circumstances, Keith, man.

You can make godly decisions regarding them. Suppression of wildfires in the western U.S. Safety for the firefighters.

Keith, in the case of an enemy, sunny granite is currently fighting fire. or he asked for safety. He didn't take YFR.

The wisdom in finding a new home purchase and two new windows to let him. Pronounce that bad. County, California.

Go ahead. Yeah, this is Roger, WB7 News and Health. And yeah, thank you for running the net.

And just wanted to know whether you were a pilot. I was not a pilot. I'd love to have been a pilot, but I'm not, no.

Yeah, I'm not either, but I heard a good illustration to me, at least it fit, this preacher on the Moody Broadcasting Station. or one of the religious stations I was listening to this week, said that Christians need to be very, very skillful of running on instrument ratings. In other words, IFR instead of the visual flight.

And I was thinking of our psalm this morning. The visuals are so extremely strong that no wonder they would have anxiety, but you have to go on instrument rating at that time. In other words, you have to fly by faith, fly by your instruments, and the Word of God is the instrument.

I thought you'd like that, since you pass out a lot of a lot of instruments meaning the holy word of God so that we can fly with our instruments instead of with our feelings. Over. Oh, what a great observation.

Isn't that fun? Yeah, absolutely. It reminds me, and I'm certainly familiar with VFR and IFR and all that, I've been flying a lot lately, especially in a private jet.

But you know what's interesting? As you mentioned that, that's a great illustration. But when you're flying mainly in clouds, just think about this.

You can be flying upside down and not even know it. and as you're well aware and that's why instrument ratings are so important because you're gonna go through clouds once in a while so wow what a great I'm gonna use that one over yeah it really caught my attention and I'm not a pilot But really much of what we read this morning, et cetera, is that we have to fly by instrument instead of by feeling. As you say, you can fly upside down and think you're all right.

And the disorientation of -- so at any rate, I knew you could use it, especially passing out all those NLTs. Yeah, absolutely. And we got an update on the NLTs.

They are arriving here on the 15th. That's coming up next week. 60,000 Bibles on 30 pallets.

Over. Wow. That will keep your team busy.

Over. Yeah, you know what's crazy? I think 20,000 will go out the same week going to bases all over the world.

I just love this time of life. Yeah, that's a big Roger, Roger. Well, anyway, I knew you could use it when you speak.

You do a lot of speaking and you can enlarge on that quite easily. Over. Oh, there's another subject for me to cover, yeah.

One of my biggest problems when I speak is I have so many different stories, and they're all super impactful that I don't have enough time. They give me an hour and I'm thinking, "Is that all? There's too much to talk about." You may have to edit that one as well.

yeah go ahead were you calling me well over no I was trying to get net control yeah go ahead well yeah I have a couple people that are vets one of them on a prayer list She's a disabled vet. I was wondering, is it possible to get one of those Bibles? It would be kind of neat for her to have one.

And then I had another person that was in my ham radio class that's also a disabled vet that passed and got his license. I was wondering if I'd be able to get a couple of those Bibles, K and 5S. Absolutely.
