We've got one just east of town here, a little ways that popped up in some pretty going into some pretty rugged terrain there. So they've been hitting that with the air. But, yeah, prayers for all the fires and the firefighters around the northwest here, soon to really be lighting up our areas there.

Let us bow our hearts and heads. Most gracious Father, we do thank you so much for this day. We thank you for the opportunity that we can gather together to open up your words, Lord.

We thank you for all your many blessings, Lord. We thank you for hearing our prayers. We ask for your forgiveness for our sins and our failures.

Lord, guide us through this Word today. Open our hearts and help us to learn and grow and walk closer to you today. In Jesus' name we pray.

Thank you so much for that prayer. Much appreciated. All right, we are in Psalm 41.

Now, in Psalm 41... We find David a very sick man. Physically, he has been stricken with some kind of an illness in his body.

And it's severe enough that he's flat on his back in bed. Apparently, the illness is so bad that it appears to be life-threatening. But he's not just sick in his body, he's spiritually sick as well.

His soul is under conviction of sin. He's not at peace with God, and he's burdened with guilt. So David in this psalm, Psalm 41, is sick, both in body and in soul.

But even that's not all. As he lays there, sick in body and heart, he's also acutely aware that at the same time he's being assaulted by disloyal friends. They pretend to be his friends, they come and visit him while he's sick, and they feign an interest in his well-being.

They speak empty words of concern about his condition. They pretend to be oh so caring for his recovery. really the purpose of their visit is to bolster their hopes that he will die really soon so they can be rid of him and so they leave his presence and gathered together with their friends and speak evil of them and devise ways to bring him down and encourage one another that soon he's going to be dead and will be rid of him so what makes this so painful for David is that these are men that David had been friendly toward.

These are men that David had trusted. These are men that David had loved and served, and they were requiting him evil for all the good he had done for them. Now, unfortunately, that's fairly common.

people we have endlessly loved and served and given to, will suddenly turn against us and become our enemies because of wounded pride or for the sake of some personal advantage or whatever. And while David is conscious that he has sinned against God, he's not sinned against these disloyal friends at all. He's done them nothing but good, he says here in this psalm.

So the tougher it gets, the stronger we need to believe, the harder we need to go towards God, the more we need to pray, and the more we need to draw near to the Lord. So that is the overview of the general theme of Psalm 41. All right, Roger, WB7VZL, if you could read this psalm to us, I would sure appreciate that.

Go ahead, Roger. WB7VZL reading Psalm 41 from the NIV. Blessed is he who has regard for the weak.

The Lord delivers him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and preserve his life. He will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.

The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness. I said, O Lord, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you. My enemies say of me and Malak, when will he die and his name perish?

Whenever one comes to see me, he speaks falsely while his heart gathers slander. Then he goes out and spreads it abroad. All my enemies whisper together against me.

They imagine the worst for me, saying, "A vile disease has beset him. He will never get up from the place where he lies." Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he has shared my bread. and has lifted up his heel against me.

But you, O Lord, have mercy on me. Raise me up, and I will repay them. I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever. Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and amen.

I'm overstation beyond here. This is also looking for a um The near version of it is exactly what you described. And you're going through.

Backward. I'm sorry. all right mark kj7 pvt great comment yeah mark was saying that um verse 9 gave my own familiar friend and whom I trusted which did eat of my bread has lifted up his heel against me mark was saying this has a double reference and of course the first reference is in David's life it's a reference to 2nd Samuel 15 and verse 12 and that's where a hypocell who was David's trusted friend betrays him and takes the side of Absalom and works hard at seeing David die and get killed.

And so, of course, that's the first historical reference in the life of David. But then the second is that this passage is quoted... in John chapter 13 in verse 18 and it's applied to a Judas Iscariot and how that he turned against Jesus and betrayed Jesus as well and the point mark was making is that there's at least a thousand years between these two events and yet we see how God's Word is a single book and how that it's all connected together, and how that what is prophesied in the Old Testament comes true in the New Testament, and, of course, ultimately into the future, into eternity.

So, Mark, thank you for pointing out those connections and what this is referring to, and how that David, as the progenitor of the Lord Jesus Christ, And we see constantly in the New Testament that Jesus is called the son of David. The reason for that is because God made a covenant with David and said that his son was going to be the son of God. His son was going to build him a house and his son was going to sit on the throne of David forever.

And of course, all of that had proximate fulfillment in Solomon and ultimate fulfillment in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is now building the church, the new temple, and is, of course, sitting on the throne of David right now in heaven. and he is of course the son of God. All right, Mark, great comment.

Go ahead, Mark. Thank you for that. Mark drew out another parallel here, and that is a hippocampal.

in second samuel 1723 went out and hanged himself after his betrayal was made clear uh and of course judas went out and hanged himself so there's another parallel between uh these events that separate one another by about a thousand years Roger, okay, thank you Pastor Max, I appreciate that Yeah, you bet, and you know the Son of David, the Lord Jesus Is also going to requite all of those who betrayed him And who fought against him And we're going to see that on the Day of Judgment back where they are all cast into hell. So once again, David here is speaking as the forerunner of the Lord Jesus, and this is a looking forward to the day of judgment. And, of course, Jesus is going to be laid in the grave, right?

And Jesus is saying here in verse 10, But thou, O Lord, be merciful to me and raise me up out of the grave, that I may requite them. And of course, Caiaphas and Annas and Pilate and all those who cried, Crucify him, crucify him. All of those will be requited by the Lord Jesus on the day of judgment.

Any further comment? Go ahead. You know, I've been bouncing around in my head.

We've been discussing about how when somebody does something bad to us, that we shouldn't worry about it, that God will basically take care of it for us or, you know, somehow get... get even we don't need revenge God will do that for us I'm not sure that God would call it revenge but in the same sense if a person repents of their sins I think that God would forgive them as from my understanding There are human channels for seeking justice. However, once you've sought all those human channels and you're not getting justice, that's when you say to God, Lord, you take care of this.

I'm letting it go into your hands. You've said vengeance is mine. I'll repay.

And yes, God does get revenge. It's called vengeance. because the scales of justice have to be balanced back.

Now, let's say that somebody does sin against you. Let's say that they repent and you forgive them and there is no satisfaction of the harm they've done to you. Well, understand that justice is gotten in Christ...

to us too. Because when it all comes down to it, we are all in poverty spiritually before we come to God. And by His grace, He enriches us with His blessing of salvation and fellowship there.

But just a thought here as we kind of come to this final statement. when he's on his bed of languishing. So there's a lot of reward here given to those who show compassion on the weak and on the helpless and on those who are struggling.

So we need to echo and reflect God and his love Thank you. Yeah, Mark, thank you for that. And this reminds me, Mark, of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, right?

are the poor in spirit, the blessed are the meek, etc. Right? And so the happy people are those who are imitating the happy God.

And you're right. God is blessed. He's not up there grinding his teeth.

He's not up there wishing things were better or wishing people would do this or that. He's completely... happy in himself.

He's happy in his work. He's happy in his son and his spirit with whom he has fellowship. And he's happy with his people because he has cleansed them from all sin.

And as he sees them striving... And as it says in Psalm 2, why do they even rage? And the people imagine a vain thing.

The kings of the earth set themselves against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, let us break their bands of thunder, let us cast their cords from them. You know, he that sits in the heavens shall last. But then there's others, right, who kiss the feet of the Son, who acknowledge him as God's King and as their Lord and as their Savior.

And for them, there is nothing but benevolence and love and joy. So I think the question we have to ask ourselves is where am I standing in relationship to God? Am I standing under Him, with Him, for Him, in submission to Him?

Or am I standing against Him in defiance and rebellion and hostility? And He will be a different God to different people based on how they stand in relationship to Him. So they can either experience...

his forgiveness and love or they can experience his wrath and judgment it's up to them and the Bible freely sets out the plan of salvation and the way of reconciliation and the good news is that whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved and so what an encouragement that is Alright, any other comments on our passage, please come down with your call sign. 87ES Alright, we had a double, we'll pick on both. Oh, my God. Yeah, so the day of the Lord is a constant theme in the scripture. You pointed out a number of passages that refer to it.

And yes, the day of the Lord is coming. And that's the day of judgment. That's the day we need to be ready for.

And that's the day in which it will be. declared where we stood in relationship to the Lord. Were we reconciled to Him, redeemed by Him, or were we in defiance against Him and rebellion?

Yeah, just wonderful comments and conversation today. I really appreciate it. And I was just thinking about the universe in Deuteronomy 30:19 where it says, "I have set before you life and death." blessing and cursing therefore choose life that thou both thou and thy seed may live and i guess my thought my point is um you know ultimately in the end um it's that person choosing to be obedient or disobedient and um So, you know, God is true to his word, to his law, true to everything that he does.

And, you know, if those people decide to rebel and be disobedient, you know, it's really ultimately that person that decided their fate and their, you know, their destiny. eternal life. I mean the Bible says that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.

So in the end, it's that person choosing where they will spend eternity and that's just my thought. Anyway, that is 8:7ES. Back to you, Max.

Yeah. It also reminds me of that passage in Joshua where Joshua said to the children of Israel, Choose you this day whom you will serve. Will you serve the God of your fathers or will you serve the gods of the people of the land?

Make up your mind. And so that passage you pointed out in Deuteronomy 30 and verse 19, same thing. And so this is the reason why the Bible constantly says to us, you know, today's the day of salvation.

Here's the opportunity for redemption and forgiveness. Embrace Christ as Lord and Savior. And if you do, you'll have a good outcome.

If you don't, you won't. And that's the choice. that is constantly set before us.

We lift up our prototype W7RC-E, told us about the red flag points, fire danger, field area. We also want to pray for the suppression of all the wildfires in the ecosystem. in the United States right now and the safety of all of our firefighters and the whole state.

We pray for Cherry KB-6J and Joy Newman and the rest of the personnel for the success of her procedure and for the group of doctors who are planning for her and that success. For Ed, we expect big relief. and his brother-in-law Ed and his wife, they still use the summer house.

We have to keep them, qualified fire to them. For Will, he will make five-mile drives. He prays for his home on the beach, radiation, to be effective, and renew his A/C on the day after.

And he gets praise that his A/C, his air condition is working, First of all, I want to thank the first fire chief, Sister Carol, aka WTPO, who prayed for the healing of her lower back pain. And her son-in-law, Fred, who recently had a back tear treat. And we pray for a good and healthy child.

B, recovery for him. Sir, WWF says he's off. He lost his wife two months ago.

He's free from his peace and comfort. And Tom is recovering from a major suicide surgery himself. And he's in a wheelchair.

Sir, you need to leave us. We pray that his blood cramps will be fine. and his legs will heal.

He's ready to continue to need for an electric wheelchair to do that. Thanks to the Lord, you are the safe arrival of Jimmy and Angela there at Alphapalm, helping him there. I'm running back to Alphapalm to find in.
