I really appreciate that, and may the Lord be pleased to grant those requests. All right, we are in Psalm 32. Roger is going to read for us in a minute, but before he does, I want to introduce this psalm a little bit for our understanding of what it is we're going to be reading.

In Psalm 32, what we have is what's called a penitential psalm. one in which confession of sin is made and forgiveness of sin is sought. This psalm was written as the aftermath to Psalm 51.

Now, most of you are familiar with Psalm 51. In Psalm 51, David confessed his sin of adultery and murder after being confronted by Nathan the prophet. You'll recall that David had concealed those sins for at least nine months and silently labored under the guilt of them all during that time.

Of course, he had committed adultery with Bathsheba, he had murdered her husband Uriah, He tried to keep it to himself, he tried to keep it under wraps, but when confronted by Nathan the prophet, he confessed his guilt, he expressed his contrition, and he pleaded for forgiveness, all of which we read in Psalm 51. One of the statements that David made in Psalm 51, in verses 12 and 13 of Psalm 51, he said as an example to other sinners of their need for repentance, confession, and cleansing by God, so that they too might obtain forgiveness. And David kept that promise, and Psalm 32 is the result.

And so here in Psalm 32, David is looking back on his fall. He's looking back on his concealment of his sin, of the problems if we don't, and then the blessedness we obtain if we do. So it's really important for us to remember and practice as Christians, our spiritual experiences that we have are not merely to be used for our own sake.

They're also to be used for the instruction and encouragement and sanctification of others. So when God does something in your life, Tell others what great things God has done for you. You remember that when Jesus healed the Gadarene demoniac, Jesus said to him in Mark chapter 5 and verse 19, Go home to thy friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for thee and has had compassion on thee.

Reading from the NIV: "Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped, as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord; and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

And God is the one who watches over us with his eye. And we just have to listen. You know, God speaks plenty plainly in his word.

And, of course, he speaks in our conscience. He speaks through our circumstances. And we need to listen.

You know, it doesn't do any good to fight against God. You know, who has resisted God and has prevailed? Well, no one has.

So, you know, we just need to humble down. We need to do the right thing. We need to confess our sins.

And we need to repent of the wrong we've done and establish a new pattern of behavior, cultivate the opposite positive virtue of our sin. And when we do, we always have forgiveness. The Bible is very clear that if we confess our sins, He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

And you know, to be cleansed from that sense of guilt and that sense of shame and the hiding out, you know, from God and even from others if our sin is against them, that's a heavy, heavy burden to bear. And so it's just good to recognize that there is restoration, there is forgiveness, and there is hope, and there is cleansing, and there's peace. All of that comes as we follow God's instructions and as we live under his eye and walk up before his face.

Roger. Please go ahead. Verse 7.

There is a "You are my hiding place. You will protect me from the trouble I'm thinking." of that song, "You Are My Hiding Place," and what a moving experience. And Corrie Ten Boom, too, the movie "The Hiding Place," I think she exercised some of these thoughts in '32 Yeah, she sure did.

Yeah, she wrote a book called The Hiding Place as well. And I think I've seen both the movie and read the book in years, years past. But yes, God is the refuge.

He's the one we can run to and find forgiveness, find acceptance, find cleansing, find protection, find provision. Find comfort. Find peace.

All those things are to be found in God. There's nothing that we have or enjoy that God does not provide, and why would we run away from the central source of our blessing and our encouragement? So, Roger, that's a wonderful passage.

I'm glad you brought that up. And, you know, we read earlier in one of the earlier psalms, And, you know, God's that way is what I'm trying to say. His door is always open, and he's always welcoming, and he's always ready to protect, preserve, forgive, cleanse, meet needs, supply, whatever it is that we have.

So, yes, indeed, he is our hiding place. He will preserve us from trouble. He will surround us with songs of deliverance.

That's a great passage there, Roger. Okay, other comments? Please come down.

Roger, please go ahead. I'm waiting for the horse people. I'm not one of those, but I'm waiting for the horse people to respond to verse 9.

All right, we've got horse people here on the net, and verse 9 is talking about the stubbornness of horses and mules. Be not as the horse or as the mule, which have no understanding, whose mouth must be held with a bit and a bridle. My version says lest they come near unto thee.

Roger, yours says something a little different. Go ahead, read what you got there. - Says, do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding, but must be controlled by bit and bridle, or they will not come to you.

I have a feeling that there were, there are people out there that would say, oh, that's pushing it, that's stereotyping. I've got a horse that will come to me, huh? Well, yeah, but as a general rule, and that's the thing, there's always exceptions, you know, and people focus on the exception.

The exception only proves the rule. The bottom line is here is that, you know, animals don't do anything unless they're forced to do it. that's contrary to their will.

And what he's really saying here is don't be stubborn. Don't be ignorant. Don't be forced to have to come.

Come of your own choice. You know, God always sees to it that we come, right? And we can either come willingly, or He can put enough pressure on us to make us come.

You know, the thing about God is He never loses a battle with any individual person, and especially with His own children, right? If we're off base, He's going to bring us back. He'll start out gently, and if we stubbornly refuse, He'll just turn the pressure up.

And if we stubbornly refuse, He'll just turn the pressure up. And eventually we'll come one way or the other. And it's really important for us to not wait until we're being compelled by circumstances to have to come.

Let's just come easy. You know, one of the things I taught my children was repent easy and repent quick. Don't sit there and defend yourself.

Don't lie. Just confess, and we'll put this behind us, and we'll be done with it. And that was the example that we set in our home to repent easy and repent quick.

And boy, that saves a lot of trouble that all that resistance brings to us. Anybody got horses out there want to comment on verse 9? Go ahead.

Jeff, go ahead. Well, our family and mainly our grandkids have four horses. And I can tell you that they do their own thing.

They're like a bunch of little kids, including when they don't like the way things are going, they'll kick somebody. Wait a second. Who's running the show here, Mac?

Yeah, copy that. Okay, well, thanks for that illustration, that real-life illustration. And, yep, let's not kick against God and his will and his ways.

That's great. Yep, you know, we're always okay. God has his arms wrapped around us, and he is not like an unpredictable animal, is he?

It's not like we go from, I'm okay, to God's going to kill me. No, God isn't like that. We're always okay with the Lord, so praise the Lord for that.

But yeah, sin's always ready to kick us in a moment. and trample all over us, and we just have to be on guard. All right, real good.

Five Yankee. Five Yankee, go ahead. Okay, the old farmer was getting ready to plow the field, and he hooked up the mule, and his son's standing there watching him, and he goes, Yeah, mule, yeah.

The mule didn't move. So he walked over and grabbed a two-by-four and smacked him upside the head. Walked back to the end of the plow and goes, "Yeah, mule!" And that mule took off.

The son says, "Daddy, why did you hit the mule in the head?" And he goes, "Because you have to get his attention first if you want him to do what you want to do." And that is the point of the moral of the story is keep your eye on the Lord. don't let your attention drift away and then you won't need that two by four or the bridle in a bit to direct you where you need to be out of a fire you can well said that well said yep we don't want to be stubborn we want to pay attention to Lord when he speaks to us with his voice we need to respond to that and not wait for the two by four for sure that great illustration great comment thank you for that all right Let's see, Eric, KD70S, let's check in the Mark KJ7PVT. All right, WB7MX here looking for other comments on Psalm 32.

- You know, in reading my concordance this morning, it was talking about how, some people are habitual sinners, but David went in and out of sin. Basically a good guy, but he slipped here and there. And that's an interesting observation in this.

David's remorse shows that he was true in his case. And that was fascinating. Also, it mentions Augustine.

It said to have this psalm written on the wall in front of his bed, where it was always in view, reading it incessantly, weeping as he read. And then it lists all the other psalms that are, they call penitential psalms, Mac? Yeah, that's correct.

Penitential psalms is the proper term. Psalm 32, Psalm 51, and there's others as well. Yeah, very interesting.

But it talks about wicked people who purposely, willfully, and habitually, slout all the laws of decency. So, interesting, it references 2 Samuel 11. Yeah, yeah, for sure.

Well, you know, David was a great sinner, but he also had great repentance. And, you know, when we look at the language he uses, the descriptions he gives, what you see is this was no superficial confession. "Yeah, I'm sorry, God, let's move on" type of a confession.

There was a thorough examination of the evil of what he did, the depth of the sin that he committed, and the humility that he had for what he had done. You know, I think of these first two verses here: "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile." That is, no deceit, no lying.

And so we have to be honest before the Lord. And it's honesty that brings forgiveness. It's honesty that brings cleansing.

And so we have to say what we did And we have to ask God to forgive us for our specific sins. You know, it's easy to say, yeah, I know I'm a sinner. But God requires specific confession of specific sins for specific forgiveness.

And that's what David is doing here. And he talks about the pain of not confessing. Verse 3.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my groaning all the day long. Day and night, thy hand was heavy on me. My moisture turned into the drought of summer.

So there's a really graphic picture of the physical impact of sin and also the spiritual impact of sin. So, you know, when Nathan confronted him, you know, we see that he confessed to the sin that he actually committed. And he said, "I will confess my transgression to the Lord, and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin." So that's what happened to him, and now here's his counsel, verse 6: For this shall everyone that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found.

Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near to him. So what we see here in verse 6 is that when we pray, we have God's forgiveness, we have God's protection, and we have the restoration of God's smile, fellowship, and goodness towards us. All right, other comments on this passage?

This may have been something that the Lord gave to me, specifically for me, but I'd like to share it. And as has been shared by you and others contributing, you know, the sin was forgiven. But there were consequences that came also, and the prophet Nathan shared those in 2 Samuel 11 and 12.

There were consequences, and yet David was forgiven. He was completely forgiven, but there were consequences that came as a result of that sin. And some of those consequences were fairly significant, followed him the rest of his life.

And then an example of God... taking something bad and turning it into something good. Later, that union between David and Bathsheba would produce Solomon.

Great King Solomon. So, just an example of God turning something bad into to hear it. Back to you, Pastor Ben.

Yeah, Jerry, thank you for bringing that out. That is so important to realize that sin has consequences even when it's forgiven. Because there's natural consequences that flow out of it.

For example, if I rob a bank, right, and I realize I did evil, I did wrong, I confessed my sin, I asked God to forgive me, that doesn't take away the jail sentence. I might get sentenced to jail for 10 years or whatever, right? And just because I've been forgiven, the natural consequences of my sins don't just go away.

And so here's David. He commits adultery with Bathsheba, and the new little baby dies, and David has war in his house for all the rest of his days. But as you said, God also redeems people.

our failures to bring about good in spite of ourselves. And part of that good is that Bathsheba had Solomon. And, of course, Solomon was a tremendous blessing both to Israel and to us.

And, you know, he is in many respects a foreshadowing of the Lord Jesus Christ. So good came out as well in spite of the evil that was done. So, you know, a lot of people think, well, I'll go ahead and commit this sin, and then I'll just ask God forgiveness and everything will be fine.

Well, you know, that attitude, number one, indicates that, you know, maybe you're not even saved if you have that attitude, because sin is a terrible thing to the believer, right? It's defiling, it's polluting, it's corrupting. And, you know, we do fall into it, and we do sometimes willfully commit it.

But, you know, there's this hostility and this hatred of it, and we don't want to be in it. But nevertheless, I've seen people make those kind of choices. Well, what happens is, yes, God forgives them, and yes, they're restored.

But, boy, for the rest of their life. they have terrible consequences that they have to deal with that flow out of what it is that they did. And so sometimes, you know, the cost is attached to the sin, even though it's forgiven, so that we can see the...

the folly of thinking that we'll sin, we'll confess, and everything will be just fine. Sin always has consequences. The Bible says, whatever man sows, that shall he also reap.

And that doesn't go away in the natural realm, even though it goes away in the judicial realm, when we confess our sins or when we commit sin and then receive forgiveness from them. All right, any other comments? Please come now.

Governor B, 730. Roger, go ahead. Yeah, the topic of consequences in light of forgiveness as well.

I was just scanning 2 Samuel chapter 12 and the consequences that have been brought up for sure are highlighted in that chapter in a big time way and how God used Nathan. Beck mentioned you had to get the mule's attention and Nathan was a very good example of that. use this marvelous parable about the two men.

One was a very rich person and a poor person, and a large number of sheep and cattle, and then the poor person. In a way, that's I'm summarizing the beginning of Chapter 12. That the Spirit of God apparently said to Nathan, use the empathy, the level of empathy between rich and poor that David has a heart for.

I've prepared his heart to respond to that parable. And, you know, he just, you know, David was left speechless and said, yep, yep, I'm the guy. And so he confessed his sin.

We don't have the full record of it there, but we do in Psalm 51. And God forgave him. So, you know, if God calls us to confront others about their sins, like God called Nathan to confront David.

You know, we need to do it in the spirit of meekness. You know, it says in Galatians chapter 6 and verse 1, if you see a brother over there taken in a fault, you and your spiritual restore such a one. in a spirit of meekness considering yourself lest you also fall into the same sin.

And so Nathan was clearly capable of the same kind of sin that David actually committed. There's no sin we're not capable of. And so we need to approach our fellow sinners who need restoration with compassion.

We need to approach them with humility, with tact, with wisdom. Mark, KJ7PVT, go ahead. Thank you.

And so I guess I want us to all go away here. I mean, every time I read a psalm like this, right, I remember my sins. And if I have any present sins, I remember them especially.

And it's like, okay, let's go to this journey. Let's humble down before the Lord, Max. Confess your sin to the Lord.

Ask forgiveness based on the shed blood of Jesus. if they become reconciled to God through faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. So let's be glad in the Lord.

Let's rejoice. Let's shout for joy because God has made us upright and God has forgiven us. Alright, this is WB7MX, Net Control for the West Coast, Follow Study.

Any final comments? Please come down. One of the things I would like to point out is that these first two verses, verses 1 and 2, He quotes these two verses here in Psalm 32:1-2.

And so verse 2, "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputes not iniquity." Well, you know, we committed sin. Sin was on our record, and God took our sin off of our record and placed it on Christ. doesn't it bother me thank you for another day thank you for the lessons here and in the time of your work and you are present with us through that your guidance direction we thank you for your many questions thank you for hearing our prayers and we'd like to bring you some that are indeed today we lift up Our brother Ed, M6XOH, his brother-in-law Ed is recovering from a heart and leg surgery.

Ed and his wife need to sell their house. We also pray for the elimination of the wildfires and we pray for favorable weather conditions. and they fear the firefighters should all be affected.

We pray for Jerry, maybe he has some healing for his mom from the heart and face surgery that she was planned. And we now pray for her. We are afraid that the follow-up appointment went well, had the bandage removed, and she's responded well to the treatment.

We joined our brother Mark, a J-7, in the meeting, and listened up his mother, a believer, who is at the end of her life, and we prayed for a gentle passage into the arms of Christ. for will to give him like five months. We pray for his hormone treatment and radiation to be effective in restraining and removing this bomb they can't.

AK7 TPL for the healing of her lower back pain. We also pray for her son-in-law, Chris, that his diabetes will be controlled, but he can have his back turned green on July 30th. He needs to have a good A1C, a blood sugar average for that appointment.

We will be appointed tomorrow to come with the German F, weapon that back to the street, and proceed. For WW7D, Tom, he lost his life a few months ago, straight for... His feet some comfort.

In fact, Tom is recovering from a major spine surgery. And he's flying to a wheelchair. He's in serious need of daily assistance.

We pray for his leg cramp to subside and his legs will heal. All we pray, church, his needs for electric wheelchair to be met. I'll be continuing to pray for our brother Beck, I'll provide the aid.

The genie's healing of his head injury and the double vision that he's experiencing. We pray for a full restoration of his human and his right ear and for it also being a favorite family. And that he's healing from cerebral cancer.

He also needs to be saved. We want that Also ask for safe travel for Beck and Sandy. If they travel to UT back today for a problem like the one for Sandy, please reply.

And for Pastor Jeff Black, who has severe ulcerative colitis, we pray for him to be leading through the medical treatment that he is receiving. For Cody, KISF TRN, we pray for him to be leading the father rogers and the bay-minded who hold to purchase this quality county California and meet at, for safe travel, that two-and-a-half-year-old bay. Pray for our brother Jim and his BKE for his opportunities to share the gospel with others. Pray for the salvation of all of our children grandchildren and great grandchildren were known to live in the dead, and for you, God, too, for the praise you have on our Father, protection from the rays of the world and the attacks of Satan. We lift up our brother, Brian, KJ7PWL, and the Salvation of our Father, Brian, to check with you.

Brian gave our Bible to me, and so we pray that God will and bring her to a closer relationship with Jesus. And also we pray for Brian's son Avery, his girlfriend Zoe, to become married and to become saved. And that they are the parents of six-year-old Alex and a born Adam.

Zoe's been reading the Bible We pray that that will bring burden to both your relationship with you as well. Also, as the kids will age, we pray for his nephew, Eric, and the military. God's to manage with them and in case that their needs will be met.

Well, that's what's on our hearts and minds today, Lord. We pray for all those that are suffering throughout the world. We just ask that you keep us protected and safe and focused on you and that we will be learned today and tomorrow.

I can hear it in the background, so it's low enough so it doesn't come back through my mic while I'm talking, but high enough so that I can hear somebody if I need to, and I can just crank the volume up, so... It worked fabulous. I'm super pleased that we've got that resource.

You know, it's unusual. I heard Carol KK7TPO really well this morning on my radio, so I didn't listen to her on the Maestro, but I'm sure in the future it'll be really useful. Over.
