Well, yeah, that's a pretty good assumption. Well, I'm glad you won't keep them in prayers as well. Max is traveling this morning.

We may hear from him tomorrow from Jersey. He's going to try to check in from out there using our remote station here. So we'll hold our breath and see if that happens.

This is Jeff, AK6OK, for the West Coast Bible Study. And I'm sitting in the same chair as Max today. And we're going to be studying Job 36 and 37.

That will be our last double chapter study. Tomorrow is going to be Job 38. And Friday 39, Saturday 40.

And that's going to be exciting when God starts talking back. Don't you love that? Will, would you open us in prayer this morning, and then we're going to have Beck and, okay, who just jumped in about 37?

I'm sorry. Somebody else is going to read. chapter 37 there I just had a brain thing here Thank You Jerry okay got it will KM 5s can you open us in prayer this morning yep KM 5s sure Christ, Heavenly Father, we thank you for being able to all of us be on the West Coast Bible Study and also on the prayer time that we have, Lord.

We just ask for your continued blessings on each and every one here. Lord, we just lift up those that have health concerns. and those caregivers for those that have self-concerns, Lord.

We just pray that you would be with us as we witness to people daily, that you would help us to draw others to you, to have a relationship with you, Lord. We just thank you for being able to be in God's Word. And we just thank you for each and every person that's on the net, those that log on and those that are just listening, Lord.

We lift them up to you, too. We pray that you would... be with us as we put on our armor daily, that we would pray to keep Satan and his minions out of our lives and out of those lives of our loved ones.

Elihu also proceeded and said... bear with me a little and I will show you that there are yet words to speak on God's behalf I will fetch my knowledge from afar I will ascribe the righteousness to my maker for truly my words are not false one who is perfect in the knowledge is with you behold God is mighty but despises no one he is mighty and strength of understanding he does not preserve and the life of the wicked, but gives justice to the oppressed. He does not withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but they are on the throne of the kings, for he has seated them forever, and they are exalted.

And if they are bound in blunt fetters, held them the cords of affliction, and he tells them their work and their transgressions, that they have acted defiantly. 10. He also opens the ear to instruction and commands that they turn from iniquity.

If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures. But if they do not obey, they shall perish in the sword and they shall die without knowledge. but the hypocrites in the heart store up wrath.

They do not cry for help when he binds them. They die in youth, and their life ends among the perverted persons. He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression.

and the rumbling that goes off in his mouth. Through the whole heaven he lets it loose, and his lightning to the ends of the earth. After it, a voice roars.

He thunders, and his majestic voice. And he does not restrain the lightning when his voice is heard. God thunders with his voice wondrously.

doing great things which he cannot comprehend, which we can't comprehend. For to the show, he says, fall on the earth, and to the downpour and the rain be slain. He seals the hand of every man that all men may know his work.

It's verse 8. Then the beast goes into its lair and remains in its den. Out of the south comes the cold and out of the north the cold.

From the breath of God, I, it says, in the expanse of the waters, and firm. Also with moisture he loads the thick clouds. He disperses the cloud at his lightning.

He changes direction, turning around by his guidance, that it may do whatever he commends, on the face of the inhabitants. Verse 13: "Whether for correction, or for his will, or for loving kindness, he causes it to happen." Listen to this, O Job. Stand and consider the wonders of God.

Do you know how God establishes them? and makes the lightning of his clouds to shine? Do you know about the layers of sixth world, the wonders of one's perfect knowledge?

You, whose garments are hot when the land is filled in the face of the self's wind, can you, with him, spread out the sides, strong as a molten mirror. Teach us what we shall say to him. We cannot arrange our peace because of darkness.

Shall it be told him that I would seek Or should a man say that he would be swallowed up? No, men do not see the light which is bright in the sky, but the wind has passed and cleared them. Verse 22: Out of them are some golden splendors; around God is awesomeness and majesty.

The Almighty, He cannot find you. He is exalted in power, and he will not devalue justice and abundant righteousness. Therefore, men, fear him.

He does not regard any who are wise as a pirate. That's U.E.E. 7-A-R.

All right, Jerry. Thank you so much for that. Well, this all sounds like truth to me.

And I know that Job's friends weren't quite so righteous, and I know that God was upset with them. Any comments on these two passages? Go ahead.

So that last phrase kind of challenges me. This is WB7VZL, over. Yeah, go ahead and pick her up.

Well, I just -- that very last phrase that Jerry read, "He does not regard any who are wise of heart." So he -- is that "wise of heart" in quotation marks? Over. In my version it is.

Yeah, but you know what, it shows the quotation at the very end, where it's the first quote. I don't know where the first quote is, but it ends with a quote, yes. Yeah, in the NASB, the whole verse is in a quote, kind of like all his speech here.

But yeah, he begins this whole section, I noticed, with a level of arrogance here in chapter 36. He says in verse 4, For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

Now, again, I hope he's inferring that the Capital One is God is with you instead of Himself. But he certainly feels like he is at the very least speaking for God. But I was challenged by that very last phrase of 37, that he does not regard any who are wise of heart.

fascinating juxtaposition in my mind over yeah very very true now one question that keeps coming up in my mind with Elihu is he being arrogant here and yes I detect a little bit of that and why was God so upset with these other three gentlemen his friends but not so much with Elihu here any good comments on that one Is that extent? Then extend, go ahead. Hey, good morning Jeff and morning everyone.

Yeah, could be seven that extent. Yeah, this is, uh, you know, or Elihu's starting off on his 4th speech here if you will, and he's shifting from the. : Prosecutorial, you know, argument and accusatory argument a little bit toward the majesty of God.

And I think what you'll find is interesting, he doesn't know that God's about to speak here when he's finished here, and God's about to enter into the conversation. Job doesn't respond to Elihu, nor does God respond to Elihu. But Elihu does shift to a different perspective in that.

And I think as you picked up on there, Roger, he's really recognizing the majesty of God himself. And he actually, without realizing and without knowing God is speaking, he's kind of recounting what the introduction part of God's speech will be. So he, in one sense, is kind of making the same argument that God will make in the introduction of his speech.

And he introduces the element to, I think, through this, that... suffering might not be just disciplinary. The suffering may have, because of God, who He is and He can do as He pleases, may have an educational element, component to the suffering.

Now we know the end of the story. We have the benefit of seeing things from the, you know, as a whole, if you will, and how this all works out for Job. But at this time, they do not.

Job still doesn't know. He's still seeking an understanding. Um...

you here is trying to provide an understanding though he's getting some things on track he still I think is somewhat have an element he's called an arrogance I think just an element of it still must be something on you job but he is starting to at least shift that presentation to a God may have some other reasons for the suffering here as well give me some of that except Yeah, good perspective, Kevin. You know, I liked it back when Elihu just started this, when he said, Job, let's work through this together. And that kind of indicated to me that Elihu's real life is that he's no different than Job is.

But I do see once in a while he starts to sound like Job's other three friends. And he's walking a real interesting tightrope through this whole thing, trying to make sure that he's putting forth what God's plans are without being judgmental. But he is a little judgmental here and there.

So there you go. That's my limited perspective. Any other comments?

Go ahead. Ooh, gonna need a relay on that one. Oh, Danny, go ahead.

Yeah, more of an observation. I know that the scholars have never pinned down exactly how long Job was afflicted, but some of the scholars have said that he'd been afflicted for several months to up to maybe a couple years. And I wonder if Elihu was in the same situation, would he be so quick to judge?

That is a great question. I was wondering that too. And Dan was saying, if only he was in the same situation Job was in, would he be so quick to judge?

That's a great question, and I wondered that myself. Or put us in Job's position. I would have caved in a long time ago, and I think all of us would have.

So, yeah, that's well said, Dan. I have not thought through that in any detail, but it's something certainly to look at. I've wondered, what's the end result here?

What is God trying to prove through Job? Now, he invited Satan to attack Job, and boy, he did a good job of it. All right, let's say that right up front.

And who is God trying to teach here through all of this? Obviously, his three friends are going to hear about all this. I think it's in 38 where God steps up and says, "Okay, were you around Job when I put this whole mess together?" Other comments?

Go ahead. How does that make sense? Yeah, go ahead.

ZXN, good morning. Go ahead, Kevin. Yeah.

Oh, okay, KB7, ZXN1. I'm not sure if I doubled with someone there. Yeah, boy, some tall questions there.

But, you know, Danny, you make a good point, too. And, you know, it's always interesting to consider if the shoe is on the other foot, right? And I think, too, the question you ask, Jeff, is an important one, too.

And I would be not so quick to dismiss your faith because I think what we see here, one of the things we see is that God's grace and the faith that God has given Job is living out here in the midst of all of this. And that grace is something that allows a person, I think, to suffer beyond what they can imagine they're capable of. No one goes out and sets forth to...

TO BE TESTED AND TO BE PERSECUTED AND TO SUFFER LIKE THIS. YOU KNOW, WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR THAT. BUT I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS WE SEE IS THE WORK THAT GOD CAN DO IN SOMEONE CAN CREATE SUCH A FAITH THAT EVEN UNDER GREAT SUFFERING, THAT FAITH WILL NOT WAVER.

So the anguish can be excruciating beyond our understandings almost here. And so I think that's one element. We see that lived out, as I mentioned before, in the saints through the centuries, the early churches.

Many that we call martyrs have been killed and tortured and killed. just in just horrendous ways hard to even talk about they're so bad yet they never would denounce their faith and and and glory be to God for that faith And even in Hebrews, he tells us that we will not be tested beyond our ability. Sometimes I know in life we may wonder that and we may question God.

And God does not... admonish Joe for seeking understanding and questioning. It does admonish him for some things.

So on that element, I think that's one huge thing that we can learn and grow from in this. is that the faith that to endure suffering as job did comes from and through God and and the grace that he gives us in the faith that he provides us I think another element on the the bigger picture too as we see the typology of our Lord and Savior I believe Job was a king And as representing ultimately Christ our King who entered into the suffering as well, not because of anything he did, but because of the evil, as Will pointed out yesterday, Satan himself inflicted upon him. And yet, but he took that suffering in our stead as well as the wrath of God on the cross.

So he suffered beyond any man. And yet out of that suffering came our salvation. So, God can use suffering in many ways.

So, I think we have the big picture as being as God really entered into our suffering through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who stepped into humanity and took God's wrath that belongs to us upon Him. KB7 is that example. Yeah, good point.

Good point, Kevin. You know, one thing I've noticed through all of this is Job's responses. And, you know, in the beginning, I kind of think he was responding very, very well.

But occasionally he would kind of jump off the train a bit. And I shouldn't have been born. I didn't deserve this.

All of this. But I think as we get further into this, you're starting to realize Job is recentering himself. And correct me if I'm wrong, guys, because I'm not a biblical scholar.

But it sounds like Job is recentering himself and getting back to the middle where he should be. And I just find that fascinating. We would never, none of us would ever endure any of this.

I don't know how Jobe, well I do know how Jobe did it, but it's impossible to think about. Any other comments? Go ahead.

Roger, go ahead. Yeah, Kevin was talking about the suffering of our Lord as the leader of all suffering. And as some people have described it, He took the wrath of God, the second death, so to speak, the ultimate death, the final death that we find in Revelation chapter 20.

In other words, the wrath of God that, as John Stott talks about, the annihilation of the soul of Revelation 20. But here we talk about Jesus himself. I like this promise.

to all of us here in Revelation chapter 2 verse 10. Revelation chapter 2 verse 10 where Jesus says, "Hear none of these things which thou shalt suffer." so you could see you will suffer, but we're not to fear none of these things which thou shalt suffer. Over.

Absolutely. And we're commanded that throughout the entire Bible. Do not fear because I've got you covered.

I still don't understand it. I remember I'm real good friends with Billy Graham's family. And I remember when Billy was asked before he died, why do babies die?

And I remember his response is, and talk about suffering, why do these things happen? And his response was, I don't know, but I'm going to ask the Lord when I get there. That's one of the questions that Billy Graham even had.

Why does this stuff happen? And there is obviously a higher purpose, and it's very hard for us to understand. But there's a message in all of this, and I think we're going to see that in 38, when God starts speaking back and saying, you know, there's a much higher purpose higher thing going on here that you guys will not understand until someday when you get to have it, I assume, we'll hear about some of this and we'll realize it.

But that's what faith is all about, and faith is difficult at times. I can tell you, I was in a discussion last night about when I had cancer. and went through heart disease and all of this stuff, God was really good to me.

It was very easy for me. I know that sounds almost stupid, but going through open-heart surgery was not that bad. God protected me greatly.

I was in bed for seven weeks with radiation treatments and all that kind of stuff. But you know what? I survived it and now I've got an incredible story to tell, which is a great blessing.

And very, very carefully I have said to many people I would go through it again because of the people that have been impacted by that story. But when you're in the middle of it, it doesn't seem quite that way. So anyway, Roger, that hopefully gives a little more meaning to what you just said.

We don't understand the suffering totally, obviously, but there is a higher purpose for all of this, over. Yeah, apparently true. And the Bible actually has quite a few passages in which the innocent suffer.

In Hebrews, the very end of Hebrews, those last five or six verses from 35 to 40 in chapter 11. Hebrews 11, 35 to 40. We have terrible suffering of the innocent saints that God has allowed to be martyrs for him.

Over. Yeah, isn't that something hard? And just think about when babies die, for example.

What about the parents? the suffering the parents go through as a result of that. Over.

Oh, yeah. The suffering of the survivors. Good point.

Thank you very much, Jeff, for reminding me of that. Over. Yeah, I know, you know, we're all going to go through that someday, but gosh, it's a very, very difficult thing to go through.

As I get a little bit older, I'm seeing more and more of this, obviously, as friends pass away. It's almost weekly anymore. I know quite a few people, and it's sad.

But you have to realize, hey, none of us escaped this. This is going to happen to everybody eventually. Great comments this morning, everybody.

Danny, go ahead. Yeah, you know, I just wanted to say real quick that – You know, everybody says that God has infinite wisdom and we have finite wisdom, and I never really understood it. Really, we shouldn't be able to, but somebody once said something that really meant...

you know, kind of opened it up to me. Let's say you're a child in your room and your parent comes in and grabs a chair and throws it out the window. Now, if you were to see that, you would think that something's wrong with your parent or...

your parent needs a timeout or something to that effect, because that is not, you know, not right thinking and everything. But when all of a sudden you start seeing the smoke coming out of the other hallway and the only way out is that window. Now it all of a sudden becomes clear and that's kind of like God's Infinite wisdom is the fact that he sees the broader picture Wow now there's a great Illustration, I don't know if all you guys heard that that was good Dan What dad was talking about is?

when a child sees dad come in and pick up a chair and throw it through the window uh the child thinks maybe something's wrong with my dad what was that all about but uh then you find out that the house was on fire and that was the only exit wow good observation dan and and yes you don't understand it initially but after you look for a minute there was a reason for that that that's a good way to wrap this up Thank you, Dan. How neat is that? Okay, who else?

Go ahead. ZXN. Yes, sir.

Go ahead. KB7, ZXN, and a couple other points, too. Keep in mind, we live in a fallen world of sin and suffering.

And so, you know, there is... going to be a lot of suffering from the consequences of the sin, of violence, of greed, of my gosh, just you name it in this world. And that in and of itself.

it creates a lot of suffering and struggle and strife for mankind. But the other thing, too, is, like in the case of Job here, keep in mind that there was no man like Job, and he was upright. And why was he targeted?

Because he was upright. Because he was right with God. Because he was living...

justly honoring and glorifying God. And Jesus tells us himself that the servant is not greater than the master. How great, again, I'm going to point back to Jesus Christ who suffered the greatest.

And for righteousness' sake, Many of the saints will suffer. Saints will be attacked. Saints will be, you know, persecuted.

And again, for no other reason because we are walking with Jesus. Now, we have the blessing today of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit with us, and which even gives us stronger faith and certainty and hope, I think. But even Job here, keep in mind why he was attacked, because God even said to Satan, have you considered Job?

Well, because he knew that Job was walking upright with him. And so God knew that his grace is sufficient. He knew, even through all the anguish, that Job would remain faithful.

And so sometimes, not all suffering is because of that, because we're walking, like I said, we live in a fallen and sinful world, and, you know, but keep in mind, in the context of the text here, the attacks are from Satan, and they are because Job walked upright. Now, is God teaching us some lessons through this? I believe he is.

KB7 is that example. Boy, that's for sure. And boy, as far as us understanding, we'll understand someday.

And a great point as well. We're about out of time, guys. I think it's time for prayer concerns.

And we'll take your prayer concerns now. And Al's going to pray for us in the closing prayer. Let's hear about any prayer concerns you might have.

Keep Max in your prayers as he travels today. Head back to New Jersey to teach on Revelation. I guess he's doing a seminary class back there for the next few days.

We have many needs today, and we'd like to bring those to you. We want to remember our sister Carol, KK7PTO, and her son-in-law, who is expecting surgery, but that guy, of course, comes to us live. We want to give him a lot of good news.

given the patience to lay out that period and that his surgery was successful. We looked at my brother, Beck, who's now 5 years old, giving praise that his agony made it home safer from his road trip and for Glenn, KJ7's UFW, the continuing healing of his broken neck and his wife, Vicky, from Korea. For Roger, WB107BPL, we list Sandy and May as they traveled to Kenya.

They left recently because of the way these words came in. faithfully created their journey for faith and their mission to be successful among the deaf in the school there in Kenya. George, K2KJS, his wife is that wife Sue is having thyroid surgery today, and we asked her if she can be on her and the direction and guidance of doctors involved in that surgery has worked a good outcome for the healing of George's shoulder injury as well.

For Patrick Mack, he's a pastor, Jeff Black, who has severe ulcerative colitis. We pray for the healing of that condition and that the medical treatment he's receiving will be effective. John W.

B. Seven. WQK who prays for the release regarding his pain that his mobility will be improved and for his health issues his friend Mike also died he died suddenly and he prays for peace and comfort for all who were affected by the death.

For what Bill, you'll make five bucks into elevated TSA. We pray for the radiation treatment to be effective in treating this cancer. And it is the best cancer that moves to next week for praying for children.

For Doc W6, RLJ, we pray for healing of his serious health problem to be seen, that's for the doctors to figure out what the problem is. He's still in the hospital, we pray also for the establishment of the dental clinic on the island of Fiji. AI-7 CRF and his niece Zoe, we pray for her salvation.

Today, AI-7 QQ, we pray for his prison ministry in Idaho State Correctional Facility, at the Volunteer Services Corp., and also for the services he conducts in juvenile correctional facility in Idaho. For Keith, WC7 RKR, and his wife Ronnie, who pray that does not progress, and for the strength that he was able to keep and carry to her. For Bird, W7RKD, his wife Debbie, we pray for the remission of her multiple sclerosis.

For Mike, W7RKD, D.W.O. We praise Betty, a widow of comfort, strength, and wisdom for the happiness of her husband. We also continue to lift up the pulpit as he is in the air traveling to New Jersey for a class in a seminary class there.

We praise the project of that mission. as he's preaching about the prayer. And that we also pray for his same return.

We meet here seven days a week, 6 a.m., in order to read the Bible, understand its meaning and message, and then pray that God will help us live out what we learn and meet the needs in our circle of fellowship.
