Okay, so, all right. Any other check-ins to the West Coast Bible Study, please come down. Thank you.
AK6OK AK6OK, Jeff, please go ahead Yeah, Max, I'll have you a full written instruction sheet today, okay, for the remote Copy that, really appreciate that, that's huge, thanks Jeff That would be 70s at L. And there he is, Roger. Good morning.
How are you doing, brother? Any prayer requests? Well, nothing huge.
I'd like to hear what was huge from Jeff, over. Yeah, he's just helping me out with my radio. He's going to send me some written instructions.
That is what was huge, over. Oh, my. Well, some of these radios I've heard are so complex that it's nice to have a mentor, over.
Yeah, Jeff is my local Einstein, and so he takes care of me and makes sure I stay on the straight and narrow, so appreciate that. Yeah, well that's always wonderful to have somebody like that. My mentor, so to speak, has passed away, so please make use of Jeff while he's around.
Yeah, copy that. We're not going to let him die here anytime soon, over. Okay, yeah he's already had nine lives as I recall Yeah, I think he's got 10 or 12 more in the tank there So anyway, we're anticipating him being around for a while All right, Roger, WB7VZL, thank you for being there We got you checked in We're ready to get started with the West Coast Bible Study Are there any more check-ins?
Please come down Alright, we're going to get started. This is WB7MAX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. We're going to be reading today Job chapter 34 and 35.
And so what we have here is Elihu continuing his discourse, providing a new perspective on Job's friends and what they're saying and Job and what he is saying. And so in essence, Elihu is saying, to Job, whatever the reason God sends this affliction, it's not your place to question whether God is just in doing so or not. It's not your place to demand out of God an explanation as though he owes you one.
And it's certainly not your place to think that somehow you're being treated unfairly or inappropriately, because God's purpose in affliction is to do men good. It's to save them. It's to enlighten them.
It's to restrain them from sins that they would engage in if they had too much prosperity. And so we just have to trust God even though we don't understand God. So he's saying that Job is not suffering because he sinned.
But in his suffering, he is right at the edge of falling into sin and/or maybe committing some, although God, of course, does not rebuke him for it. So I think in the judgment of charity, we have to say that Job is not rebuked by God, although the three friends are. it's not fine to start falsely accusing God and that's where we've got to make sure that we're not stepping over that line alright well that's kind of where we're at we're in the middle of Elihu's discourse we looked at But my puny brain and my corrupt nature is not in the position to question him.
So the absence of Satan in all the rest of the book, I think, is for those two reasons. Incomplete theology and understanding on the part of the people, and God not saying, Satan caused this. though he did, but ultimately that I am in charge of all of this, which he was.
And he doesn't pass any responsibility along to Satan or any credit to Satan. He's just simply saying, I'm managing it. So...
God isn't going to say, "Oh well, you know, Job, I'm really sorry, but Satan stepped in and he did X, Y, Z." Which would imply then that somehow God is not in control of Satan. So that's the best I can come up with, Will. Back to you.
Go ahead, Will. Well, in our lives and our families and friends, We often have problems where people have died or something and then people blame God. And clearly here, Satan has the power over life and death too and a lot of our problems.
And we don't recognize it. TAM, 5S. Yeah, you're right, Will, and we have the benefit of much greater revelation so that we can say, you know, Satan is behind this or Satan is driving this person or Satan is responsible for what's going on here.
We can say those things and say them rightly with the greater body of knowledge we have, and we should. But that wasn't the case here in this book. We're clearly told Satan's role in chapter 1 and chapter 2.
And that helps form part of our theology about Satan and how he functions in this world. As well as we have a vast amount of other information, especially in the New Testament. So yes, we can say things that Job and his friends couldn't say, because we have more knowledge than they have.
But even as we look at Satan and the role he plays, ultimately he's on a leash. And God limits what he can and can't do without getting into the interpretation of the passage. In Revelation chapter 20, it says that Satan is bound by God in a pit with a chain and a lock and a key.
And an angel has got control over it. So the bottom line is that Satan is not a free agent. He's always under the control of God.
And so therefore, ultimately, we have to look past the second causes to the primary cause, who is God himself. and recognize that whatever happened, He was in control of it. Back to you there, Will.
Go ahead. Yeah, that's pretty much all that I had. We can also ask God to shorten that leash, as you said, to Satan in our lives.
But we don't do that a lot, or at least not as much as we should. KM 5S. Yeah, well said, Will.
To pray for the restraint of evil is a really good thing to do. You know, I pray for the restraint of evil in our political leaders. I pray for the restraint of evil with reference to false religions and their false and destructive teaching with reference to atheism and all that it attempts to do.
So, yes. in praying that God would shorten the leash, what we're acknowledging is that God is in control. And we're asking for mercy.
And we're asking for protection. And those are really good things to do. And that's an excellent way to pray.
I really commend that will. Thank you for those comments. Alright, anyone else have any comments on our passage, please come down.
KB7, ZX. KB7, ZX, Kevin, please go ahead. And so the answer to that is in 1 Corinthians 15 and verse 58, be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as you know that your labor for the Lord is not in vain.
and what Job is really implying here is it's the vain things that serve God and you know it seems like the wicked do fine, the righteous are oppressed why bother to be righteous And once again, this goes back to what Kevin was saying. God plays the long game. And while in the short term it may seem that the balances of justice are all askew, in the long term it was always a blessing to serve God.
In fact, we prayed for her today. And so we have on our West Coast Bible Study website, it's called westcoastbiblestudy.com, all one word. We have a list of prayers there that we pray for day by day as well as current requests.
And we keep her on the list. We continue to uphold her that God would save her. and that God would expose her to good influences.
And so, anyway, good news. How are you doing with your insomnia, Cody? Not very well.
I've been on the radio. But I haven't been to the medics a few times. I don't think that I've been to the medics, but my mind seems to be on the radio.
Yeah, call me. Well, I appreciate you plugging in here whenever you can, and appreciate you keying up and having a chat with us, because I really appreciate you and your ministry and your family. And I'm sorry for your insomnia, but I guess one of the blessings is that you're able to catch the West Coast Lava Study.
Anyway, yeah, I just have to go to bed like at 9:20 at night so I can get up at 5:20. That gives me eight hours. Although I seldom get in bed at 8:20 or 9:20 and sometimes it's only six.
Yeah, copy that Cody. You know there's a passage in the scripture that says, "For so he giveth his beloved sleep." I think it's in Psalms somewhere. And I've often thought of that, "Lord, give me sleep." And I know sometimes praying doesn't put you to sleep, sometimes it does, but my heart really goes out to people who struggle with insomnia.
because you need to rest but you can't sleep and that's a terrible state of affairs to be in. How's work going for you? Alright, copy that.
Well, we'll put that on the list too. That God will help you to find a good job. So anyway, yeah, I am going to be gone for the next four days.
Jeff, AK6OK, is going to be running the net for me. I'm going back to New Jersey to teach a seminary class. But I will be back Sunday morning.
So anyway, hopefully you can check in and we can hear you. even contributors' thoughts come to your mind. So, Cody, KI-7TR, thank you for being there.
Yeah, very much. The trip definitely brings a new state feeling from airing the hard time for people that are going to sleep with the vaccine for worse. It was a heated one.
Yeah, thank you. That's deeply appreciated and well said. That's my grand conclusion.
concerned. We're just preparing men for the ministry and I remember back in the days when I was in seminary and I had teachers that were up there instructing me and now we've come full circle and I'm in that position. So in any event, yeah, thank you for those prayers.
This is a supernatural work and it needs supernatural grace, strength and enablement if it's ever going to accomplish anything at all. We don't go in the arm of the flesh, we go in in profound dependence upon God and His grace and mercy over me. Roger that.
Very well, thank you. You too. All right, Cody, KF7TRF, 73 to you, thanks for checking in.
This is WB7MX. Anyone else want to chat, please come down to your call sign. AK6OK.
Jeff, AK6OK, go ahead. Yeah, Max, let's get on the phone in the next hour sometime and we'll kind of go over everything. All right, yeah, so it's 7 now.
How about if I call you at 8, does that work? Yeah, perfect. All right, thanks, Jeff.
Thanks, Jeff. Thanks, Jeff. Thanks, Jeff.
Thanks, Jeff. Thanks, Jeff. Thanks, Jeff.
All right, I'll ring you up at 8:00 and we'll have a chat. Jeff, thanks for that. Okay, anyone else want to chat, please come down to the call line.
Ready for a good safe flight there and back, Max, and I hope you have a good day. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
*car engine noise* Thank you. I'm sorry. *car engine noise*
========== ### Scripture Reading (KJV)
Job 34:1-35:16 (KJV)
<blockquote> 1 Moreover Elihu answered and said, 2 Hear my words, O ye wise men, and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. 3 For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat. 4 Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good. 5 For Job hath said, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my judgment. 6 Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression. 7 What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? 8 Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. 9 For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. 10 Therefore hearken to me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. 11 For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. 12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. 13 Who gave him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? 14 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; 15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. 16 If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words. 17 Shall even he that hateth right persuade thee? and shall he condemn when he is more wicked than thou? 18 And will thou say, My righteousness is more than God's? for he said, I am pure without transgression. 19 Behold, he will be glad to recompense thee; for thou shalt have thy portion from him. 20 Wilt thou not be afraid of his presence? and will thou not be afraid of his anger? 21 Thy wickedness may hurt thee, and thy iniquity may take hold of thee. 22 Will thy cry be too strong for the sea? will thou imagine to talk with him? 23 For he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: who will appoint his equal? 24 Therefore men fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. 25 Therefore do the wicked not prosper? doth even the labour of the workers of iniquity cease? 26 Doth he not leave to the evil man according to his work? 27 For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it? 28 For the hope of the hypocrite shall perish: and his trust shall be cut off. 29 He shall not succeed that is wise in his own eyes: if he will not be let, he shall fail, and ensnare himself. 30 He shall not be wise, he shall not attain: but the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil is understanding. 31 Therefore he accepteth not the persons of the wicked: he will not regard iniquity. 32 He will keep the just, and he will take away the wicked: he will also cut off the help of the wicked. 33 Yet shall he be in the hand of hisstructors: but he shall not continue in the land of the living. 34 His fruit shall be cut off before his time; and his branch shall not green. 35 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive. 36 For the violence of the wicked shall destroy them, and they that have taken a gift for him shall perish: but the righteous shall hold on his way. 37 Though he be as a signet upon his right hand, yet shall he go back unto his place. 38 But he is passed away, and behold, he is gone: yea, he shall perish, and cut off as all other, and his root shall be dried up. 39 This also is known of the wicked, that the wicked man shall not be established, even in the holy place. 40 He shall be cut off, and his name shall rot. 41 He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night. 42 The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him. 43 But the righteous shall have good things in his hand: and the wicked shall be cut off in the place of the righteous. 44 When the hand of the wicked is lifted up, he is punished: but the righteous is delivered from death by the hand of the righteous. 45 Therefore the people of the wicked shall be desolate: and prosperity shall be taken away from the tabernacles of covetous men. 46 He shall open his hand in the destruction of the wicked: he shall fill his belly with famine. 47 Yet he shall flee from the iron weapon, and the steel sword shall not wound him. 48 He shall be delivered from the iron weapon, and the staff shall not wound him. 49 He shall be delivered from the iron weapon, and the staff shall not wound him. 50 He shall be delivered from the iron weapon, and the staff shall not
