Hey, you're two minutes early. Unbelievable. I'm really proud of you, brother.

Yeah, I had enough hydrotherapy of it. Talk it out. Well, you're making up for your sins of yesterday where you slept in and didn't check in until way late.

So you're forgiven, brother. That wasn't quite that bad. I actually was listening.

Good morning, AE7PG. How are you doing? Uh, we're doing a little bit less.

Just fine. Well, real good. And I kind of recognize the call sign, but help me out with your first name, please.

My name is Al, or Alan, and I'm from the U.S. Okay, well, Al, real good to have you with us. Appreciate you being here.

Have you been on the West Coast Bible Study before? No, but actually what happened is I got on here this morning and said good morning on the palm frequency. Copy that.

Well, Al, it's good to have you with us. Yeah, we meet here seven days a week at 6 a.m. on 3975.

And yeah, it's just kind of like morning devotion. We just read a section of the Bible. We talk about its meaning and its application in our lives.

And then we pray. And then we go about our day. So welcome, Al.

Glad to have you with us. Appreciate you being here. And if you want to participate or comment on the passage throughout your call sign, I'll recognize you.

and you'll have the floor. So everybody just shares as they have insights and have something to say, and it's just kind of like a roundtable Bible study. So, Al, 8780G, good to have you with us.

All right. Well, I have listened in before, but unfortunately I have another method. I'm supposed to be on it.

I just checked in on the wrong frequency. Do I apologize? No.

you guys carry on thank you very much we'll see you next time okay copy that Al no worries okay we'll talk to you later alright WV7MX here looking for check-ins please come down if you're close alright we're going to get started with our Bible study we are in Job chapter 6 Now yesterday we looked at Eliphaz the Temanite who uttered his exhortations and advice to Job and of course as usual it was very accusatory, it was very abusive, and it was very offensive It was very condescending and quite obnoxious. And so, you know, in chapter 15 and verse 2, he said, "Should a wise man utter vain knowledge and fill his belly with the east wind? Should he reason with unprofitable talk or speeches wherewith he can do no good?" And for this one, he's accusing Job of.

no compassion, no kindness, no patience, no empathy, just crushing accusations in order to beat Job into submission to the counsel and advice that he is giving. And so anyway, Now we see Job's response in chapter 16 and 17, which we're going to be reading together momentarily. But before we read our passages, we want to open in prayer.

So, Roger, does there be some detail? Please open in prayer for us today. Dear Father, we are in the desert of the dialogue of...

misunderstanding in the lack of the back story and it is symbolic of how we are we seldom understand the reason even with human beings what motivates to have a discussion and so we need your Holy Spirit And we also thank you for your holy word that encourages us to put on the whole armor of God so that we have your spirit to give us insight as to the motivation behind people and our interaction today and then what's going on behind the scenes in heavenly places. Thank you so much, Lord, for the word as we chew on this challenging section of Job in Jesus' name. Amen.

Amen Roger, thank you so much for that prayer. Okay, so now we're going to have Job's response. And so Beck, Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee, if you could please read for us Job chapter 16, and then following that will be Jeff AK6OK reading chapter 17.

So Beck, go ahead please. Roger that, thank you. Chapter 16, New King James Version.

And Job answered and said, I have heard many such things. Miserable comforters are you all. Shall words of wind have an end?

Or what provokes you that you answer? I also could speak as you do, if your soul were in my soul's place. I could heap up words against you and shake my head at you, but it would strengthen you with my mouth, and the comfort of my lips would relieve your grief.

Though I speak, my grief is not relieved, and if I remain silent, how am I eased? But now he has torn me out. You have made desolate all of my company.

You have shriveled me up, and it is a witness against me. My leanness rises up against me and bears witness to my face. He tears me with his wrath and hates me.

He gnashes at me with his teeth. My agitatory sharpens his gaze on me. They keep at me with their mouth, they strike me reproachfully on the cheek, they gather together against me.

God has delivered me to the ungodly and turned me over to the hands of the wicked. I was at ease, but he has shattered me. He also has taken me by my neck and shaken me to pieces.

He has sent me up for his target. His archers surround me. He pierces my heart and does not pity.

He pours out my gall on the ground. He breaks me with wound upon wound. Well, it was wound, maybe.

Upon wound, sorry. He runs at me like a warrior. I have sewn sackcloth over my skin and laid my head in the dust.

My face is flushed from weeping. and on my eyelids is the shadow of death, although no violence is in my hands, and my prayer is pure. O earth, do not cover my blood, and let my cry have no resting place.

Surely even now my witness is in heaven, and my evidence is on high. My friends scorn me, my eyes pour out tears to God. Oh, that one might plead for a man with God as a man pleads for his neighbor.

For when a few years are finished, I shall go away of no return. That's the end of that chapter. Alpha Alpha Phi Yankee.

All right, real good, Jeff. AK, good. Okay.

AK. Let me get this right. AK-6.

Okay. Go ahead, Jeff. Okay, I'm back.

That's hard to say. Let me turn down my receiver here just a little bit. Thanks very much.

Okay. My spirit is broken. My days are extinguished.

The grave is ready for me. Are not mockers with me? And does not my eye dwell on their provocation?

Now put down a pledge for me with yourself. Who is he who will shake hands with me? For you have hidden their heart from understanding, therefore you will not exalt them.

He who speaks flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children will fail. But he has made me a byword of the people, and I become one in whose face men spit. My eye has also grown dim because of sorrow, and all my members are like shadows.

Upright men are astonished at this. And the innocent serves himself up inside against the hypocrites. Yet the righteous will hold to his way.

And he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger. But please come back again, all of you, for I shall not find one wise man among you. My days are past.

My purposes are broken off. Even the thoughts of my heart, they change the nights. And today, the lightest mirror, they say, in the face of darkness.

I wait for the grave as my house. If I make my bed in the darkness, I say to corruption, "You are my father." And to the worm, "You are my mother and sister." And then is my hope. As for my hope, who can see it?

Will they go down to the gates of Joel? Shall we have rest together in the dark? And there you go, Mac.

Jeff, AK-6, okay, great reading. Thank you, and back for those readings. All right, well, this is the totality of Joe's reply, please, to Eliphaz the team-knight.

All right, any comments on this section? Please come down. Jeff, you go first and then other station.

Yeah, I think just a question in my own heart, how could you get any lower than that? Yeah, Job is kind of at the bottom right here. And he has been not only beat down by his circumstances and by his health, but now by his friends.

And so, you know, we look at this and our hearts just break for him. and we think he's at the lowest of the low right now and it doesn't get much worse than this. Death at this point in time would be a relief and he's asked for that several times.

He's not getting that. He's just having to endure at the lowest grinding level of sorrow and hardship and pain and brokenness. And yeah, you're just seeing a man that's laid out in every respect to that word.

Back to you, Joe. Yeah. Again, I think about this.

This is good for me to hear. And the reason being is we've got to look at our own spirits. and just consider what would we be at this point just as individuals and I would have lost it a long time ago I think I probably would have checked out so we need to inspire to be like Job however difficult that would be I can't imagine yeah copy that ok Jeff thank you for that comment and um I certainly agree with that.

All right, there was another station that culminated right alongside Jeff. Other station, come down if you're called, bud. I had a question.

I was going to do a QOC or something, you know, but I guess it reminds me when I was about 19 at Fort Knox, and I found out that I get contact dermatitis, which is like eczema already bad. They told me to go home to state school. dry, put powder on, and then they finally gave me some I found out my mom at Ben and Carol worked really good at I wish I would have known that, because I had eczema all over my body.

I really couldn't listen to her. And so I wasn't convinced exactly. She was a jolly bop.

I had that extra mile all over. I think that, you know, this could make me somewhat empathize. And, uh, you know, it kind of goes to show you how, uh, how the, uh, the, the vibrations and so on, and, and how, uh, it's like, that's kind of how it all started.

Uh, you know, uh, you, uh, you got the, uh, - Yeah, Ted, I'm sorry to hear that you went through that. I have also had hives break out over my entire body. Unfortunately, I was able to get some prednisone and that beat it back.

But boy, while that's going on for a day or two before you get treatment, it is absolutely miserable. And I'm not sure the hives are the same as eczema, but to have a skin... disease like that where most of your nerve endings are deposited in your skin.

That's where you feel pain first. And to have your skin completely broken out and to... not be able to get any relief.

It's kind of the worst of all situations in terms of the, you know, generally pain is localized like in your hip or your shoulder, your hand or wherever, but to have it all over your whole body all at once, it's like being on fire. So, Ted, I'm glad that you were able to read the book of Job and get some degree of spiritual counsel and comfort. in understanding and I'm glad you got some relief too what a blessing it was that there was Benadryl for that Benadryl works really well too when you get a bee sting the wife really swells up when she gets bee stings and so she takes Benadryl as soon as she gets stung it makes a huge difference in how much she swells up so Ted thanks for sharing your experience with us alright any other comments on the passage please come down WB7DZL.

Roger, WB7DZL, go ahead. Yeah, thank you, Ted, for sharing what would happen if you looked at how it looked, the case that you're describing. And it does tend to segregate one from the rest of the population.

And it's either these chapters or thereabouts very close by that... he loses his infrastructure he loses his family support he loses his service and they just kind of give up on supporting and I was thinking about these cases in Africa that it's been isolated here remember Remember in COVID, they were concerned about having hospitals overwhelmed. And I was pondering as we were reading the scriptures this morning, how easily our communities are vulnerable.

to amend the experiences of Job. Not just Job, but whole cities and communities. We didn't have the infrastructure, the garbage pickup, the water coming out of our tap, the showers, the water.

We are in the food, the food supply. We would have, in short time, we would have a scene that would be like, you know, the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy very quickly, over. you know it does and imagine a whole city of jokes um and uh you know i think about the cities over in africa where they have ebola and um you know how that there's just bad casualties and mass sickness and um they don't have you know the medical infrastructure and a lot of times um the uh the rebel groups keep the doctors from coming in and treating people which is insane but You know, we in America have, you know, such access to medical care and treatment that other countries simply don't have.

So one more reason to be so proud of you. Thank you for sharing that to Roger. All right, other comments, please come down.

Kevin, KB7 is at X-Men. Good morning. Got you checked in.

Appreciate you being there. Go ahead, brother. Well, good morning, KB7 is at X-Men.

Sorry, a little late. I overslept, and it's my own fault. But anyway, yeah, boy, you know, there's some of the strongest descriptions of...

anguish and suffering that he's going through. Eliphaz just won't give up. He's coming for another round of his abuse and stupidity.

And Job is calling him out. Um... Tell them, you know, you're just singing the same old song and, you know, if roles were reversed, I could easily come up with that, you know.

But one of the things in this text, in verse chapter 16, I think that is significant is God... uh, Job recognizes that somewhere up there, somewhere in glory, there is a witness. And, uh, you know, he doesn't know about our mediator, our Lord and Savior yet, uh, per se.

He doesn't know about, uh, you know, Jesus, uh, being intercessor for us, but yet he, uh, understand spiritually somehow that uh that there is a witness uh for him uh there and uh that that in of itself you know keeps gives him hope he still even under these circumstances does not break he's still staying uh true to the lord kb7 is that acceptable Yeah, and you know, Kevin, that's the comfort we have. When everyone around us misunderstands us, when everyone around us falsely accuses us, we know that God knows the truth, and we know that He understands. And one of my favorite verses is in Romans chapter 2.

where Paul says, "We know that the judgment of God is according to truth." And the problem is that people's judgment seldom is, because they don't wait to get all the facts. And even if they have all the facts, maybe they don't rightly apply them because they don't understand the biblical principles that are involved. You know, to come to a proper conclusion, you not only got to have all the facts, you also got to know the biblical principles that apply to those facts, and apply them properly.

so that you come out with a proper counsel and conclusion. And so we know that God certainly does that. And so a lot of times, all you can do is just rest in his evaluation and in his judgment.

Kevin, good comment. Thank you. Other comments?

Come on. I'm developing a B7. He's an L.

Roger. Please go ahead. Yeah, I don't want to take any...

time from anybody else that wants to work on this section. I have a Zadarvan publication here in front of me and this is their take of 16. I'm going to go ahead and get started.

He...well, yeah, this is a section that I'm looking at. If God had acted as though He were a wild animal in verses 9 and 12 and following, He would not blame men for acting similarly in verse 10. And then, He had been the mark of God's arrows.

verse 12 and 13 a fortress attacked by the strongest warriors in 14 in spite of all his reply had been humility and prayer and in verse 15 where he's in sackcloth so So God is even implicated here. He had been attacked by God's arrows. My grandson and I just did some archery when he was here about a week and a half ago for Dad's memorial service.

We had a target. and we had a couple of bows and numerous arrows, and that's pretty vivid for me when I see what we did to that target. And when this chapter mentions bows and arrows, that related to me.

Over. Yeah, copy that. Well, you know, to feel like that God has set you up as a target and is shooting at you with the arrows of his anger and wrath, That's a terrible situation to be in.

No believer in Christ should ever think that that's his condition in the eyes of God, because God doesn't shoot his arrows of wrath at his people. He may shoot them at the ungodly. But for his people, there is no condemnation.

And so we need to recognize that whatever is happening to us is not designed by God to hurt us. I'm not saying it's not going to cause some pain. It does.

But his intention in allowing that pain to come into our life is not just to shoot us down. It's to shape us into the image of his Son. And so it's hard to believe that by faith when we're going through pain.

But we have to remember that the character of God is not to be interpreted in light of what is happening to us. The character of God is to be interpreted in light of the revelation He's given of Himself in the Scriptures. And we reason from what He says of Himself.

that he's going to work all things together for our good and that nothing can separate us from his love. And then we reason from those things and interpret our circumstances in light of them. To interpret our circumstances in light of revelation, we don't start with our circumstances and reason from that to who God must be and what God must do.

be thinking. And that's one of the problems that a lot of people have when they arrive at wrong conclusions about God. All right, real good.

Thank you for that comment. Any other comments? Please come down.

KK7, OKQ. KK7, OKQ. Go ahead there, Ted.

Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, as unpleasant as the circumstances can be, we're talking about a foundation-building trial at the convention. I try to think we're in the middle of a story of these countries' trials.

You probably know the story. I thought I was referring to... Yes, sir.

It could be, you know, a turnaround in the relationship of the Bible. I don't know. Yeah, that's interesting.

That's a good topic. That's a good topic. Yeah, that's interesting.

Not to be an authority, but I think that's a good thing. I'm not sure. It turned out to be all right in the end.

Yeah, but the glory's on it. Yeah, Ted, that's right. In the end, he got back double of everything that he got before.

Okay, I would like to comment a little bit on verses 1 through 8 of chapter 16. In chapter 16, verses 1 through 8, Job answered and said, I have heard many such things. Miserable comforters are you all.

Shall vain words have an end, or what emboldens you that you answer in this manner? I also could speak as you do, if your soul were in the place of my soul, I could heap up words against you and shake my head at you. But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should assuage your grief.

And, you know, what Job is saying is, look, if I were in your place, I wouldn't be saying the things you're saying. Instead of beating the person down who's suffering, I would be trying to actually comfort them and lift them up. And so I think there's a principle here is that when you're counseling people who are in difficult circumstances, whatever they are, put yourself in their shoes.

and speak to them the way you would want to be spoken to if you were sitting in the chair they're sitting in. And, you know, it's the principle of doing to others as you would have them doing to you. And so you guys have all been in hard times.

Maybe you're in hard times right now. And, you know, a better speed just lost its mark. How would you want to be spoken to if that had just happened to you?

And that's how you speak to others. So instead of having a superior condescending attitude of, you know, I'm going to straighten you out, It's like, enter into their feelings, understand their situation, and work at healing their heart and bringing comfort and peace to them, rather than condemnation. And I mean, if they've clearly done something wrong, by all means, you have to address that.

But we're told in the book of Galatians, If a brother's overtaken in a fault, you and your spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of meekness, considering yourself that you also fall into that same sin. So I guess I think one of the applications of this passage for us this morning, is do it to others as you'd have them do it to you, and especially when someone is hurting, don't add to their hurt. Do what you can to bring relief from that hurt and comfort in the midst of that hurt and try to be a means of healing.

It says that Barnabas, that he was the son of consolation, He was just always going around finding people who were hurting and bringing comfort and consolation to them with his words and with his ministry. And I think that that's an important takeaway for us. All right, WB7MX here.

Other comments on the passage, please come down. Thank you. ZXN.

Okay. All right. We had a double there.

First we had Kevin, KB7, ZXN, and then we had Jeff, AK6, okay. Kevin, you go first, and then we'll get you, Jeff. Thank you, Max.

KB7, ZXN. And very excellent point there, and very true. And one of the other things I think to me that I see in that text in the first eight verses is not only the extra weight added to the suffering by the false accusations, you know, by his friends, you know, already on top of the enormous physical suffering.

But then, you know, I think of our Lord. When here he stood in our place, he stood in our stead, as they say. And not only did he take, you know, here's a real true innocent one only that was ever truly fully pure.

He endured enormous physical suffering beyond any man, but then again too. You know, as it speaks of them shaking their heads at him. Well, we read in the account of the crucifixion how they wag their heads at him, falsely accusing him.

And all the false accusations and all the way to the physical suffering. And then on top of that, he had the weight of... of all of our sin, receiving truly the full wrath of God.

And so, you know, to me, my heart breaks for Job here and the suffering that he's enduring and the betrayal from his friends And the false accusations, which just adds more weight. But then if you contemplate our Lord and Savior, how much greater was the weight and the burden that he took upon himself at the crucifixion. Not just the physical suffering, but all that combined.

with the false accusations, with the weight of the sin of each and every one of us and all that will ever live. What an amazing sacrifice our Lord made for us. KB7, Zedek Sin.

Yeah, Kevin, really well said. And thank you for pointing out that our Savior voluntarily signed up for that suffering. Job was just a victim, right?

He didn't ask for this. Jesus asked for it out of love to us and knew what he was getting himself into and voluntarily chose it. so that we could be redeemed from our sins.

And that's even more amazing. Imagine Job raising his hand and saying, Okay, God, go ahead and kill all my servants, take all my wealth, take my children, turn my wife against me, destroy my house. and cause my friends to hate me, I'll sign up for that.

I mean, no human would ever do that. But the Son of God did. And so, Kevin, thank you for pointing that out.

What's interesting is that there are a number of verses in this 16th chapter that can be applied directly to our Lord Jesus Christ. For example, verse 10, they have gaped upon me with their mouth, they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully, they have gathered themselves against me, God has delivered me to the ungodly and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. And so that echoes Psalm 22.

And verse 13, follow it. And so in the sufferings of Job, you can see the foreshadowings of the sufferings of Jesus, but as you said, far greater, because God was for Job, but God was against Jesus. He forsook him.

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me on the cross? So what love? that Jesus would sign up for everything that Job went through plus the rejection of God in order to redeem us from our sins and to cause us to love him with all of our heart and soul, mind and strength.

Okay, that brings us to Jeff AK6. Okay, Jeff, you had a comment. Please go ahead.

Yeah, there's two things I have comments about. One of them is that Job's wife is not mentioned after, I believe it's chapter 1. I'm kind of curious about that.

And second thing is that it's interesting to me. Can we assume that this ongoing banter back and forth is Satan continuing to go after Job? Or is this just sinful guys that are going after Job?

Go ahead. I don't think there's any question that Satan is continuing to go after Job. Okay?

And so Satan works through instruments. Sometimes he even works through believers who are ignorant and foolish. Okay?

and have a little bit of pride. I mean, you know, Satan walks about as a roaring lion speaking to the devourer, and it says that James were to resist him, steadfast in the faith, and he'll flee from us. So, yes, Jeff, answering your second question first, I think that Satan was definitely working through these three men to further discourage Job, to further break him, Because, see, the trial didn't end when all the things happened, because the things that happened go on and on and on and on.

And so he continues to suffer the loss of his financial assets. He continues to suffer the loss of his services. He continues to suffer the loss of his children and the despising of his wife and the loss of his health and the accusations of his friends.

And Jeff just goes on and on and on and on for a long time. I don't know how long this took, but we know that they sat there for seven days and said nothing. So we can say a week.

This is going on. How long this discourse took. I don't know, but this was not, you know, the act of the moment, and then it was over.

So all during that time, Satan was continuing to attack Job through not only the sufferings he was having in his body, but also through the accusations that were thrown at him by his friends. So, yes, I think it's just like when Jesus had to say to Peter, you know, get me behind me, Satan. The things that should be of God, but the things that should be of men.

And Peter was clearly a saved man at that point in time, but he was voicing Satan's words in his ignorance, his immaturity, and in his pride. And we can do that, and we've got to be careful about that. Second question: What happened to Job's wife?

Well, the last we heard from her is in chapter 2. And we don't hear from her ever again. But what we do know in chapter 42, which is the last chapter of the book, that he also had seven sons and three daughters, and we're assuming this is the same wife.

So I think that she eventually repented. You remember Job reproved her, and maybe in the judgment of charity she received the reproof there in chapter 2 and realized she was being foolish. And in the end, she's still married to Job and still having children with Job.

So... I trust that she turned out well. Back to you there, Jeff.

Okay, makes sense. And yes, boy, Satan keeps the heat on, doesn't he? Yes, he does.

And while God does give the seasons a reprieve, and we see that Job eventually had a reprieve, Nevertheless, you know, we have these seasons of trials, and then we have seasons of relief, and then seasons of trials, and seasons of relief. It kind of comes like waves on the shore, you know. Sometimes there's calm, and sometimes there's a big storm.

I'm glad it's not stormy all the time. I wouldn't be able to bear it. And I don't think most of us would.

The net would like to acknowledge Dave, KE7WKI. Dave, I've seen you there for a long time. But I want to take time to acknowledge your presence with us at the West Coast Wildlife Center.

Dave, KE7WKI, thank you for being there. All right, any other comments on this section, please come down. Over to B7VZL.

Roger, please go ahead. Yeah, I really appreciated your parallel with Psalm 22 and then also this wonderful Matthew Chapter 25:46, or I think it's 26:46 where it's, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" according to the scriptures. I really appreciate Joe's honesty, especially in verse 10.

He says that God has smitten me. He still has. Yeah, they have gassed upon me with their mouth.

and God delivereth me to the ungodly. That is so portrayed on the cross. Thank you, Kevin.

Thank you, Max, for those parallel passages. It's powerful and powerful. And so I think in us interacting with even Christians, I, if they're honest and feel like God has forsaken them, they're in good company, over.

- Yeah, you know, and that's the beauty of the book of Job is it fits into our situations in one way or another so well and so often. And so therefore we need to understand the message of this book. And the message of the book is that, you know, Satan means it for evil, but God means it for good.

You remember that that's what Joseph said to his brothers in Genesis chapter 50 when they approached him after their father died. and he said, you know, you're selling me down into Egypt. You meant that for evil, but God meant it for good.

And in the same way, Satan means what God allows him to bring into our lives for evil. I mean, Satan had evil intent towards Job, and that was to expose Job as a hypocrite and get him to attack and deny God. But God meant all of this for good.

And you know, when it was all over with and Job looked back, he would say, you know, the Lord has done all things well, including my affliction. Because through it, God received glory. I received blessing and reward and a deeper understanding than I ever had before or I ever could have had had I not gone through this.

So Job gained a perspective on God and a perspective on himself that was something he would have never had had he not gone through these difficulties. trials are the means of growth and you know we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God as it says in Acts and suffering is something that is a normal part of the Christian life it prepares us for heaven it sanctifies us in the image of Jesus it strengthens and deepens our faith and it equips us to be able to minister to others who are suffering so there's a lot of good that comes out of evil intentions. And the amazing thing is that God can take the most malevolent intentions that he has toward us and work them together for our good and his glory and the salvation of his people.

Imagine Satan sitting back grinding his teeth that because of him... We have the book of Job now and Christians for thousands of years have been able to resist the devil because of the book of Job which Satan was in many respects the cause of having been written. So this is really a counterproductive exercise on the part of Satan as is everything he does.

God uses it in such a way as to further defeat him and further strengthen his people. So every time Satan sits down to play a game of chess with God, he winds up getting defeated. All right, any final comments?

Let's see, we're out of time. I think we're done for the past day. Any final prayer requests?

Father, we thank you so much for this wonderful book of Job. And Father, while our hearts break for Job and the suffering he went through, Yet, Father, through it, you have brought phenomenal blessings out of the book of Job to the lives of millions and millions and millions of your people through the thousands of years that have unfolded soon. And so, Father, help us to have the confidence that whatever Satan is doing right now in this world, whatever he's trying to do right now in our lives, all that's doing is setting him up for defeat and setting the people of God up for making progress in their spiritual walk in life and growth and maturity in Christ's life.

And so, Father, help us not to fear the evil one. He is defeated. He was defeated at the cross.

Jesus crushed his head there, as was promised in Genesis 3:15, and as Paul says in Romans 16, that Satan's head is being crushed under our feet, as we obtain victory over him through the power. of the Word of God and the Spirit of God and the saving work of the Son of God. Go ahead. Call me. Call me.

Go ahead. I just wanted to let John know I'm so blessed to have met him on Saturday morning and our talk. prayer for the Mike family and your prayer for you John with your description.

It's going to be something real. Yeah, Roger, thank you for that. I appreciate you ministering to John.

on Saturday morning when I wasn't able to be there. I was listening on my phone. I appreciate the way that you stopped and prayed for Joe.

All right, WB7MAX here. Anybody else want to chat? That's all right.

Your call is put. All right. Thank you, Max, so much for your intercessory prayer for so many.

It's quite an incredible spectrum. I was just thinking of your prayer of thanksgiving for Amy with her cancer healing. Over.

Yeah, for sure. And you know, we need to always remember to return thanks for the request that God grants at our prior time. And you know, Carol, KK7TPO relayed Amy's healing with rejoicing, and so we're rejoicing with her in that.

Over. Yes, yes. I'd like to add Daylene's name to that incredible miracle.

It's still a miracle in my mind that I was able to find that tumor. The circumstances were just unusual. to both of us were amazed and we found it soon enough that it didn't get to the lymph system but she, Daylene, is actually to my pleasant relief and I think to Daylene's relief that she is doing quite well with the chemotherapy to, I view it as part of a for therapy to send that hormonal estrogen down to rock bottom or below.

And Gaylene seems to be doing quite well, thanks to prayers. Over. Yeah, copy that.

So, yeah, Daylene had surgery, then she had radiation, now she's having chemo. And, yeah, stage one breast cancer is very curable. Kathy was relieved from it twice.

And so, yeah, we're just continuing to pray. And how long is her chemo going to go on? Roger, go ahead.

Well, the ideal is five years over. Okay, so this is kind of a maintenance chemo thing then, right? Okay, copy that.

So is she on Tamoxifen? Is that the drug, over? I haven't read the bottle's name.

I haven't written it down. But it's designed to, like I say, send the estrogen to zero or below so that there's nothing to feed on. That's Yeah, copy that.

They said the same thing about Kathy's cancer, that it was estrogen receptor positive. And so she had other issues besides cancer. And so they wound up doing an oophorectomy, which means they took her ovaries.

and completely removed them. So that was the end of her estrogen, and that says the ovaries are what produced it. And, yeah, that was the second time around that they did that.

So, yeah, it's... you know difficult to not have estrogen but it's a lot more difficult to have cancer so you just have to pick your poison over. Isn't that so true in this world of sin?

Oh my. Yeah, temperature regulation is one of the big, big factors and in a sense my wife because androgen replacement, which had the side effect of cancer. And sure enough, she's one of them.

She's kind of, you know, going through the menopause now. Yeah, well, tell her those aren't hot flashes. Those are power surges.

Oh, Max, that's great. Yeah. I'll share that with her.

I hope I remember that one. Yeah, I made a mistake on Matthew. I was looking at my Matthew reference.

It's Matthew 27 where he says in verse 43, quoting Scripture, about he killed Jacob. see yeah my god my god what has self-retaken me you know the honesty of that according that scripture passage as a portrayal of jesus agony and yeah that passage that we looked at 16 and i also noticed that Job makes one reference to his wife as far as I've gone in Job, and you were preaching on Job 19. I noticed in 19th chapter he talks about, I haven't felt my wife's breath for a long time.

Over. Over. Yeah, that's an interesting phrase.

Let's see, I remember that. And, yeah, what verse It's at a 19. I'm grabbing this book here.

Yeah, so in 13 he says, "He has put my brethren far from me, and my acquaintances are verily estranged from me. My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me. They that dwell in my house and my maids count me for a stranger.

I am an alien in their sight. I called my servant. He gave me no answer.

Oh, there it is. I entreated him with my mouth 17. My breath is strange to my wife, though I entreated for the children's sake of my own body.

yea, young children despise me, verse 18. So it sounds like maybe at this stage his wife is still distant from him. So getting back to Jeff AK6OK's comment, whatever happened to Joe's wife, I guess this is another reference when he says, "My breath is strange to my wife." What does the NASB say in 1917?

Over. Okay, hold on. I was looking at the Brookwood Chet scripture and I was following you.

Let me go back. I thought I had a pencil here located for jokes. Hold on..

Oh, hey, that's interesting. My breath is offensive. This is where they landed on that.

My breath is offensive to my wife. Bad breath. Max, over.

Well, you can imagine, you know, when your health breaks down, a lot of things break down, including your digestive system, which is the source of bad breath. And so, yeah, basically I think what he's saying in this whole section here, and we'll talk about that, is that I'm repulsive to everybody around me. Nobody wants anything to do with me.

They look at me and they withdraw. And, you know, when people have, like, severe physical disability, oftentimes people see

========== ### Scripture Reading (KJV)

Job 16:1-17:24

Then Job answered and said, I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should assuage your grief.

Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased? But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness, which causeth me to loathe myself.

I am escaped with the skin of my teeth. Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me. Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

O that my words were now written! O that they were printed in a book! That they were graven in the rock for ever! For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Behold, my hope shall not be cut off: and my eye shall not fail, while I wait for my hope. Keep mine ordinances, and let not mine heart depart from thy words. Accept, I pray thee, the terror which I have felt, and the desolation which hath overtaken me. Is my complaint to man? and why should I not be patient, when my soul is troubled?

I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me. Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked? Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? Then I would quickly understand of thee, and I would come to thee: but, behold, I am ignorant of thee; therefore I am afraid to ask thee.

But thou art for terror to me: and by reason of my desolation I am deprived of my answer. For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat. His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out. Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth: He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

Then he shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him; and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers: Till he fill his mouth with laughter, and cover his bones with peace: Though he cast many upon the bread of tears, yet his eyes shall see the reward.

### Study Summary

In Job 16 and 17, Job responds to Eliphaz's accusations with frustration and despair, highlighting his deep suffering and the lack of comfort from his friends. Job feels attacked not only by God but also by his friends, who he feels are not offering the support he needs. Despite his pain, Job holds onto his faith, expressing hope in his "redeemer" who will vindicate him and restore his life (Job 16:18-22).

The group discussed the profound suffering Job endures, both physically and emotionally, and how God uses such trials to bring about a greater purpose. This discussion paralleled the suffering of Jesus, emphasizing how even in the face of Satan's intentions, God can bring about good. The importance of offering comfort and understanding to those in pain was also emphasized, reflecting on the role of Job's friends and how their actions impacted Job's emotional state.

The study also touched on the importance of recognizing the role of Satan in Job's trials, noting that he continues to attack Job through his friends. The group reflected on the need for patience and understanding in times of suffering, and how God's purpose can often be seen only in retrospect.

The session concluded with a variety of prayer requests for those facing various challenges, including health issues, financial decisions, and personal conflicts. The group sought to apply the lessons from Job's story to their own lives, praying for comfort, healing, and wisdom in their respective situations. ==========
