All right. Well, let's see. Jerry, thank you so much for checking in and asking for safety for that here, that A mission.
This is WB7ZL looking for check-ins to the West Coast Bible Study Group. KB7ZXM. KB7ZXM, good morning.
Good morning, Kevin. Yes, I'm glad that both Beck and myself, we hear you, Kevin. Over.
Well, good morning, Bec. Good morning, Roger. Good to hear you guys.
And anyway, just wanted to check in and all is good here this morning. Looks like it's going to be a nice warm day. Yesterday was the...
50th anniversary of what the teton dam flood that's when the 76 the uh we had a dam here that burst and flooded the area pretty good uh 11 lives were lost which is really kind of a miracle that there wasn't more but anyway commemoration of that each year they have a big marathon race And they start out at the area where the dam was, and then they run, you know, 26 miles and variations of that out there. But anyway, all is good here. Good to hear you guys this morning.
I'll let you grab some other check-ins. KB7 is at Exxon. Well, hi Kevin.
Thank you very much for updating us. I do recall, now that you jog my memory, that there was some sort of dam experience. That doesn't sound very good, but yeah, a defect or an earthen dam or a situation in eastern Idaho that, yeah, I'm not sure if How many fatalities?
Around a dozen, over. Yeah, that's correct. I think there was 11 they attributed to that.
Of course, a lot of livestock and property damage. It was a lot of water. It wasn't a very big river, but it held back quite a bit of water.
and it was a it wasn't built. Well the geology of the canyon where they built the dam, they didn't calculate that too well. It apparently did breach.
I lived in western Idaho at the time so I wasn't here at that time but but anyway that's KB7's at extent. So Idaho Falls has this anniversary marathon and it's now it's commemorating or remembering back of those 11 lives and lots of property damage and the flooding that occurred and has the run Yeah, okay. Well, I guess I was about 25 years old at that time.
And let's see, where was I? I was back in, um, I actually had just graduated. I may have been back in Michigan at the seminary or...
But, yeah, but I do, now that you mention it, I think I feel like I remember hearing something about that. Over. Roger, roger.
Okay. Anybody want to respond to Kevin's report? Over.
All right. Anybody else want to check in? This is good morning from the West Coast Bible Study Group.
KJ7, QQA, Sal and Jerry here with you. We know Oregon. KJ7.
QQH, good morning. Al and Jerry, nice signal this morning. And I'm really pleased that you checked in.
How are things? And any prayer requests? Over.
We are doing very well here. Thank you. It's 49 degrees in Carly County.
We're looking forward to a good day here. I'm not here to help anyway. I can't help it.
I heard Jerry say that he didn't hit me. It's not fair request. I have my proof from the third.
If he's like that, we can't find one sooner. That has to affect the detail of it. you are.
Thanks a bunch. I just dug out yesterday some wastebasket and so we're good to go. Well, that sounds great, guys.
I'm just kind of unaware of what happens at this time. As you know, I'm Unfortunately, my schedule is such that I haven't been involved here at this time. But, yeah, good morning.
And we are gathered together on behalf of NSFATSA. a break for Kathy and Max on their anniversary and also connecting with the HAM radio group at Seaside. I haven't been there, don't know hardly anything about it, although I just heard rumors to the effect that that's a place to be for HAM radio.
And we know that our leader of this net is an outstanding connector for sure. And so anybody else want to check in before we go for a prayer? KG6J.
That's also 5-inch? Yeah, Beck, and we hit another station. The other station before Beck takes that over?
Yeah, KG6J, down here in the southern Mother Road. You guys sound great. Standing by for next.
KG6J. And your handle? Jerry.
Did I hear Jim? Jerry Juliet Echo Romeo Romeo Yankee. Okay, we've got you so far.
You're the fourth Jerry that we have. At least three here. Did I count four?
Anyway, three. And glad you joined us for the Bible study group. Yeah, anyone else?
Oh, go ahead, Beck. Yeah, Roger, I've got the list here that I've pulled up from the SDR on Half Moon Bay and Utah, and there might be some duplicates because I don't know what you've written down, but I'd like to give them to you, and what I'm thinking is that I call out the... the call sign and then you can respond with the person.
Does that sound good? I think just read the names that have checked in, okay? I'm not that great at writing down and hearing all the details, especially with my noise level.
Roger, okay. I don't have the person's names because I didn't bring up QRZ, but I have the call signs. Are you ready?
Sure, go ahead. Kilo, Kilo, Seven, Tango, Papa, Oscar. Kilo, Juliet, Seven, Papa, Whiskey, Mike.
November 6th. Tango, November, India. Kilo, Juliet, Seven, Bravo, Alpha.
All right, well, thank you very much, Beck, for letting us know that we're... We have a group here on the digital SDRs, and thank you, everyone, for joining us for the Bible study. And it's time to start doing the Bible study.
And I was wanting to know... Kevin, would you be able to, let's see, Kevin, would you have our prayer this morning before, as we begin, over? Sure, I'd be honored.
With heads bowed and eyes closed, let us go to our Lord in prayer. Amen. Our most gracious and loving Heavenly Father, we do thank you for this time, this day, that we can come to you to look into your word, Lord.
We pray for our hearts of understanding to be open to you, Lord. We also pray that we would learn to apply the wonderful truths in your word in our own lives. Father, be with these prayer requests that we lift up through the day and each day.
Be with each and every one here, Lord, and bless each and every one according to thy will. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Okay. Well, thank you very much for bringing us to the Lord. and asking for his guidance as we open the Word of God.
And it's Chapter 13 that we'll start out first with, and then we'll move into 14 as well. And I'll take a break after I read Chapter 13, and then we'll work on that, and then in a few minutes later we'll do Chapter 14. We're in the middle...
of a response from Job. And we have chapters 12 through 15 is Job's response. And in a book that I've been looking at, it's titled Who Gets the Blame When Things Go Wrong?
These four chapters that we're looking at from Job responding to the so-called comforters that have surrounded Job as to trying to figure out what's going on. And all four of these individuals, Job and his three close friends, have no idea what happened in Job 1 and 2, where Satan is challenging God as to why he has blessed Job in such a substantial way. And so God...
wants to show Satan that Job is for real. And Satan, of course, is challenged by that. So here's further response from Job.
Job chapter 13. Behold, verse 1 says, Behold, my eye hath seen all this; my ear hath heard and understandeth. What you know I also know; I am not inferior to you.
But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue with God. But you smear with lies; you are all worthless physicians. Oh, that you would be completely silent and that it would become your wisdom.
Please hear my argument and listen to the contentions of my lips. Will you speak what is unjust for God and speak what is deceitful for Him? Will you show partiality for Him?
will you contend for God? Will it be well when he examines you? Or will you deceive him as one deceives a man?
He will surely reprove you if you secretly show partiality. Will not his majesty terrify you, and the dread of him fall on you? Your memorable sayings are proverbs of ashes.
Your defenses are defenses of clays. Verse 13. Be silent before me so that I may speak.
Then let come on me what may. Why should I take my flesh and my teeth and put my life in my hands? Though he slay me, I will hope in him.
Nevertheless, I will argue my ways before him. This also will be my salvation. For a godless man may not come before his presence.
Listen carefully to my speech and let my declaration fill your ears. Behold, now I have prepared my case. I know that I will be vindicated.
Who will contend with me? For then I would be silent and die. Verse 20.
Only two things. Do not do to me, then I will hide from thy face. Remove thy hand from me, and let not the dread of thee terrify me.
Then call, and I will answer. O let me speak, then reply to me. How many are my iniquities and sins?
Make known to me my rebellion and my sin. Why dost thou hide thy face, and consider me thine enemy? Wilt thou cause a driven leaf to tremble, or wilt thou pursue the dry chaff?
For thou dost write bitter things against me, and dost make me to inherit the iniquities of my year. Thou dost put my feet in the stock, and dost wash all my paths. Thou dost set a limit for the soles of my feet, while I am decaying like a rotten thing, like a garment that is moth-eaten.
Some of the, well, we'll turn it to our listeners for the reaction as you follow along in Chapter 13 of Job. Anyone want to share your insights? Yes.
All right, Kevin. Well, thank you, Roger. I'll get the ball rolling here, I guess, and I'd love to hear other thoughts.
You know, it is so powerful and impactful. when Job speaks. And here we see that he's pretty much had it with his friends.
And he's you know he's first of all he you know he condemns them and that you are forgers of lies well first of all he says you know you haven't told me anything i don't already know theologically but you've applied it all wrong and by doing so you have forged lies and accusation And your remedy as a physician to me is misguided. And as we know, when a physician prescribes the wrong medicine and does it with conviction, to you know the wrong weather is that an ailment that can be quite damaging well that's what he's accusing his friends of look terrible physicians are forger's of life you manufacture A case against me out of thin air, using the law of retribution, and your remedy is not helpful at all. In fact, it's harmful, and I'm done with you.
But then here he also makes a—this is just beyond courageous, if you will, and bold. on Job's part where he is asking for an audience directly before God. He wants to basically tell him, the Lord, I want to have my day in court with you.
I want to make my case with you where I can present my case and I can hear your case, Lord. But I want to stand before you, come before you directly. I've prepared my case.
and I really want this audience directly with you. Show me my error. Show me he's wanting understanding, and he's not getting it any other way, and he wants that direct audience with God.
And... even despite his reverence for God, even despite his fear for God, he's saying, in essence, I'd rather face the judgment of God directly, but I want the opportunity to make my case and hear your case, Lord. Why?
And, you know... even with this boldness, we see toward, now he does, God does grant him this audience, this direct opportunity, but we see it not in verse 13 or 14, but we do see that toward the end of the book here. But God does grant him this opportunity.
But it's just incredible the boldness that Job has here in humility, but at the same time just to call to God, look, I don't want you to come to me in just a dream. I don't want you to come to me in a vision. But I want to have a direct audience with you, God.
KB7, Senate Central. Yeah, Kevin. You see, he certainly could wish for silence rather than the so-called assuming friends that are really, as you say, worthless physicians, as verse 4 says.
And I, verse 3 is where he says, I desire to argue with God because these friends are certainly worthless. He said, it would surely be better if you were silent. And I looked at Proverbs 17, verse 28, where it says, where it says that when you are silent, even a fool is considered wise if you are quiet.
But unfortunately, these three friends, in this case Zulfur and I guess all three of them, Bildad and Eliphaz, they are talking in such a way that they are assuming that Job is at When I was reading some of the comments on this passage, I came across this chaplain at a hospital, a hospital chaplain, and he writes from the chaplain perspective, why do we always blame the human beings when things go wrong? and even deny the message of our senses in order to protect God's reputation. And then he goes on and says, Why do God's counselors, and I suppose we could apply this to Zophar and his other friends, Why do God's counselors feel they must rush in to defend God from the outlandish cries of a despairing human being?
Who needs more comfort in a situation like that, God or the poor human being? Job would contend that God can take care of himself. Job needs an intercessor to stand up for him before God.
His friends should be less concerned with defending God and more interested in comforting Job. Instead of comfort, he feels condemnation. Even the truth becomes distorted.
In other words, they must try to make Job out to look like a heinous sinner in order that God might be protected. What do you think of that, Kevin? Do you sense that that kind of applies to this situation where it talks about partiality for him and wishing that these people, these so-called counselors, be quiet at least rather than talking an untrue experience.
Go ahead, Kevin. KB7ZXN. Well, Roger, I think you're spot on, and I appreciate the Proverbs text there that you pointed out because, you know, I thought of that text also.
I actually came across that in my notes and study on this text. And it is so true how sometimes in our desire to sometimes find explanation where there is none or apply principles where they're not appropriately applied, supposed to be applied. here, it really kind of doesn't work.
And we see that instead of honoring God, you know, you're just, you're doing more harm. And silence is really underutilized. I know I need to exercise it more myself.
Because as we've talked about in the past, you know, when there is great suffering, and one of the... SOMETIMES WE DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT WORDS TO SAY. WE CERTAINLY DON'T HAVE THE ANSWERS.
AND WE DON'T HAVE THE UNDERSTANDING THAT GOD HAS IN WHY THERE MIGHT BE SUFFERING. BUT WE CAN BE PRESENT. And even that present silence can be quite meaningful to the person that is suffering.
And we see that, you know, for the first seven days as we've studied Job, the friends sat in silence. And that was probably the highlight of their time in support of Job. was during that time of silence.
But then they started misapplying the laws of retribution against Job, and it just caused nothing but harm. And, of course, alienated Job from his friends because they were trying to, accused Job of things that he had not done. And I think Job clearly understood that if his only hope for understanding and justice, even if the judgment comes down upon him, at least he would have some understanding if he had an audience directly with God.
KB7 is that example. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you so much for how you ended that, because it reminds us of probably the most famous passage in chapter 13, verse 15, though he slay me.
Though he slay me, I will hope or trust in him. Nevertheless, I will argue my ways before him. That's how the NASB puts it.
This is WB7VZL with the West Coast Bible. And thank you, Kevin. And I have others to respond here on Chapter 13, knowing that the beginning of the book, God declares that Job was perfect, perfect in his eyes.
In other words, he was in relational resonance with God. in all that God had revealed to Job and now to State. Two comments, over.
Beck, were there any responses on the SDR? Not that I heard. this whole theme of who gets the blame when things go wrong.
And so in the light of us not knowing the back story of, of course, putting ourselves in Job's place, and are even the three friends they don't know the background scene between satan and god so you can possibly identify with some of the relationships that are under stress for sure as job suffers with his so-called counselors or well-wishers so to speak um I really wanted to move on to Chapter 14. Is there anyone else that would like to touch base on 13? Over.
This is WB7, have you seen that? Okay, let's go to chapter 14 and look at the passage and I'll be... I'll read this passage as well.
This is WB7VZL reading chapter 14 of Job. Man who is born of woman. is short-lived and full of turmoil.
Like a flower, he comes forth and withers. He also flees like a shadow and does not remain. Thou also dost open thine eyes on him, and bring him into judgment with thyself.
Who can make the clean out of the unclean? No one, since his days are determined, the number of his months is with thee, and his limits thou hast set so that he cannot pass. Turn thy gaze from him that he may rest.
until he fulfills his day like a hired man. Verse 7. For there is hope for a tree when it is cut down that it will sprout again and its shoots will not fail.
Though its roots grow old in the ground and its stump dies in the dry soil. At the scent of water it will flourish and put forth sprigs like a plant. But man dies and lies prostrate.
Man expires and where is he? As water evaporates from the sea and a river becomes parched and dried up, so man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens be no more, he will not awake.
nor be aroused out of his sleep. Verse 13. Oh, that thou wouldst hide him in shore, that thou wouldst conceal me until thy wrath returns to thee.
that thou wouldst set a limit for me and remember me. If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait until my charge comes.
Thou wilt call, and I will answer thee. Thou wilt long for the work of thy hands, for thou didst remember my steps. in a mirror-like structure, a literary structure.
They call it chiastic structure, and it is structured in a sense that the end of the poem relates to the beginning so that verse 22 is reflective of verse 1. But his body pains him and he mourns only for himself in verse 22. And it's related to verse 1.
Man who is born of woman is short-lived and full of turmoil. And anyway, just a number of aspects. a very well-known chapter, in fact, so well-known that we find quite a bit of reflection in the three chapters in the scriptures from the chapter that we just read, Psalm 90, the verses 5 and 6.
That's again Psalm 90, 5 and 6. And then Psalm 103, 15 through 18. You'll find resonating there in those two psalms.
And then in Isaiah 40. 6 through 11 has passages in it that are similar to this famous poem in literature. Anyway, those are some of the introductory remarks for Chapter 14.
Come now with your calls if you'd like to comment on Chapter 14 of Job. This is WB7VZL listening. Okay, B7, is that okay?
Yeah, go ahead, Kevin. Yeah, Roger, I'll share a couple of thoughts here, and well read and well said. You know, and that's a really important point for us to understand.
This is still part of the poetic part of the book, and it's fascinating in the, just from the literary structure standpoint, how he presents the text in that form. But yet still with such great substance and impact of what is taking place in his life and what he's documenting here. But we mentioned the other day about the progressive revelation of the scriptures, and it really takes the Redeemer.
Job has an insight in chapter 19 coming up about, My Redeemer lives, and I shall live. I think of the two passages that have comforted many, many Christians who have known about our Lord, knowing that He wakes Lazarus out of sleep in John chapter 11. And I notice But Job didn't really have these concepts in his mind other than we have that wonderful passage that I mentioned in Job chapter 6, chapter 19, and verse 25.
It seems to be that wonderful revelation from the Holy Spirit to him as he talks about his hope. Well, that's probably enough. Anybody else want to respond?
Over. ZXN? Yeah, Kevin.
Thank you. KB7, ZXN. well well well said Roger and I really appreciate your preparation and understanding of the text here and it's so true you know the questions and as I You know, we see Job really, you know, recognizing his human condition and how it is really can cause man to lose hope.
But, yeah, you mentioned, I think, the... shield and and you know throughout the Old Testament we see even in the new I think with the rich mentalizers the the shield is a place of departed spirits and so they always you know though they didn't have a lot of understanding of what that was or how you know but they just that was kind of the identifying place of the place where where people went when they departed from this life and um anyway uh but uh yeah this is um some very uh sobering uh text here but it's a very profound questions and honestly the to me that the the the steadfastness of Job's faith and as you pointed out a little bit ago You know, he was upright and walked right with the Lord. And I was thinking back when you pointed that out in the beginning of, you know, we see in chapter 1.
As he made sacrifices, he knew that there needed to be atonement for sin. And as he made sacrifices according to what he understood to be present at the time to the way to worship God, he knew that he also made sacrifice for his children and for those sins that he may not even be aware of. So his heart was...
He recognized that he was not perfectly holy and on the level of God, but he really sought to worship God and sought to be right with God and rock uprightly for the honor and glory of God. And so this is kind of, you think of the contrast where he finds himself now. And he's at the ash heap of facing death.
And, you know, judgment, it feels like judgment has come against him greatly. And so as he seeks this audience with God, he does still have some questions. and not only does he want to make his case, but he wants to understand, Lord, what is ahead?
What am I looking forward to? I don't want to lose hope here. KB7 is that example.
Thank you, Kevin. Thank you, Kevin. We appreciate that.
That probably will be the summary of our time together wrestling with these two chapters. All I know is that ever since I learned that cemetery means, the very meaning of cemetery means a place of sleeping. when I go to a cemetery I remind myself this is a place of sleeping as our passage mentions today, thank you very much everybody and it's time for a time of prayer and we're especially praying for John as he relates to the sudden unexpected passing of his dear friend Mike that came to us this morning.
And the family is in the midst of the shock of his loss. So we want to lift up that name too. And Jerry has that.
on his way. Jerry, thank you for leading us to the prayer. Time over.
You leave it, and you're ready to pray. I'm going to be out of the way. I'm going to be out of the way.
So, God, we thank you for your knowledge of the Holy Spirit. And we thank you for your praise. they asked you to do this after just yes why he's feeling some large intestinal information his face is an opposite diagnosis of colonoscopy and they begin thinking kevin kevin's daughter on the far left, first is Succession Ballast, which is cold time, too.
WB7 is at a rigid base, at rest 3d, so that's the right place to bring it out. We're getting, we'll be right in the race, There's a chance of a turn from out the hospital. Yeah, that's what they say.
That is a second round. Congratulations. And you're turning to the green out for the emergency stop.
That's 85-1. Awesome. That's your second.
Thank you. You're a good doctor. - - Well, and uh, TLCM 580.
TLCM 580? No, it was TLC. Pray for radiation de-essencement and freemium ACM 580.
What? The ACM 580 is cheap. ACM 580 is cheap.
How does it work there? TLCM 580. Phil, TLCM 580.
Just pray and pray that John and the class pray for an easy process to be done to the TLCM 580. Sure. I I'm just going to figure out what that means.
So, it's an established number, don't you think? I don't see, see, doesn't it look like the size of the tree? That wasn't the same thing from the north.
It's kind of all over the place. I'm afraid that's the living situation in the North. I don't know.
Yeah, it's not that bad. Where's the living situation? - It's the same thing.
It's unbelievable what we would have had if it hadn't been seen out and tested. According to the research, in the US, one day, the healing of white people is fine. And in Texas, it's so weird.
These trees are made from time-straight from the ashes of the ancient Soviet. Which is beautiful. And so these trees were from the French Soviet era.
That's what I'm talking about, sorry. So they were made from time-straigt from the ashes of the ancient Soviet. - I'm going to go ahead and start the video.
Thank you. today is - thank you jerry thank you jerry very much and yes we lift up jerry and he and his family and whatever helped uh getting that hay in from uh for the sake of those 30 animals that are so dependent upon that. Thank you so much, Jerry, for that prayer, including also John, WB7, WQK, whose good friend Mike passed away a very week, something he just found out.
He's in a very mourning state of affairs, and we reach out to you, John, in empathy for this need in your heart and for the family of Mike as they walk through this valley of the shadow of death with each other. Thank you all very much. I'm WB7VZL sitting in for WB7MAX of the West Coast Bible Study.
We certainly want to thank all the stations who checked in this morning. and those who sit by to give us a clear operating frequency. We meet seven days a week at 6 a.m.
in order to read the Bible, understand its meaning and message, and then to pray that God will help us to live out what we learn. and to meet the needs in our circle of fellowship. And so we'll be returning this frequency to general amateur use.
This is WB7VZL, and I will be clear, and I'll stand by if anybody wants to say a few words and try to get past my answer. 7.9 level. Alpha Alpha 5 inky here.
We'd like to thank Kilo Delta 7 Whiskey Bravo Victor. Kilo Echo 7 Whiskey Kilo India and Whiskey Bravo 7 Mike Alpha X-ray for joining us. And I'd also like to thank those who went back and added their names to their call signs.
Thank you very much for that. How about the 5 Yankees? Oh, thank you, Ben.
I should have invited you to give them a special welcome before we closed the net, but I'm so glad you jumped in there and back. Thank you very much. I'll listen.
Roger, no problem. There's probably seven or eight people on there, Roger, that have no call signs, so I'm not sure who they are. Do they have radio operators or just listeners?
But it's wonderful that they're there. Yes. And I want to thank all those that contributed, especially our theologian, Kevin.
Thank you, Kevin, for doing some work along with me, as it's usually said. those that have to at least act as if we know as kind of teachers and leaders this morning. We learn things that we didn't know before, and it kind of brings us together.
more into almost like a speechless state of affairs in awe of the poetry that we tried to describe them. But we're just praising the Lord that we have those first two chapters and know the back story where Job and his so-called comforters did so. We'll plan on Chapter 15 tomorrow.
We'll certainly give that a back look before the so-called comforters take over in the next chapter that we're going to take. Well, I see. Let's see.
I think it's Chapter 15. Yeah, LFH. He responds to jokes outbursts in the last several chapters that we read.
So Max will go down and take a look back on some of the chapters that we just covered from the response of jokes to his so-called comforters. Looking forward to back tomorrow morning and may they have a wonderful day today. This is WB7VZF and thank you all.
Bye bye. KB7ZX. Oh, okay.
Yeah, Jared with me. Before I lose you back, over. Did I hear that right?
Where does a snowman keep his money? Roger, roger. Roger.
I am. No idea. I like the...
I... I... I like the other last one about the snowman.
That, um... What is he like in the summer? He's a puddle.
That was good, but where does he keep his money, over? In a snow bin. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Oh my, I love it. Over. Roger, I'm glad you and others enjoyed.
You have a wonderful day, Roger. Good job. Thank you so much.
And Kenny, thank you for kicking in there. You covered a lot of territory and helped out a lot. We appreciate it.
Yeah, there's a lot of territory. That's pretty good. But where does the snowman keep his money when it's no fun?
Thank you very much. I have a note on my floor that now that the season has morning, which is probably over with his memorial service, he promised you that he'd have to leave on a Tuesday. So that's on a 22X that's the one I'm going to show you how to apply the F2W system.
I have this model and I've got it out of the machine today. I'm going to use the same model as John, but I'm going to use the same model as John. I'm going to use the same model as John.
And usually when you're in the house, the other people can hear it, and I have to turn the volume up to about 55 degrees. - and then how to do things in the right way. Your creative mind is quite amazing and the limited space both audio wise you want to be rejected for the quietness as well as the social restrictions.
Well, it's a miracle that we're able to talk to you just through a vertical antenna. Go ahead and have a good time. Thank you.
So, yeah, we got to get that on a piece of music to kind of cue on. So, anyway, it's a note on the living room floor. It's a note that we'll see that we promised that we'd try to get something on tape here at least.
So, good report about your music. Yeah, interest for sure. 80 AA51, WB7VZL, are you putting out weather response?
Yeah, load loading, we'll check in. Very wonderful. Very good.
You are now carrying. Thank you very much for being part of this marvelous family. Thank you Pat.
You got any questions at all? Anybody else? Just a note Roger, you guys don't have to do anything.
If you want you can race the light out of the weather and I think it turns into full time. It's a lot easier. Okay, whatever makes it easier.
You know, whatever happens, you have to keep in touch on that. You know, if you want to commute to Utah, you want a piece of paper and, you know, that sort of thing. WB7, you get on.
I'll be clear and tell tomorrow. Thank you, guys. Bye-bye..
*Distorted* Thank you. .. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
*car engine noise*. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. *Train noise* Thank you.
========== ### Scripture Reading (KJV)
**Job 13:1-22**
Then Job answered and said, 1 Behold, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it. 2 What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you. 3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. 4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value. 5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom. 6 Hear now my reasoning, and hearken unto the pleadings of my lips. 7 Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him? 8 Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God? 9 Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him? 10 He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons. 11 Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you? 12 Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay. 13 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will. 14 Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. 16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. 17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears. 18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. 19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide from thee. 21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid. 22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
**Job 14:1-22**
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. 2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. 3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee? 4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one. 5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass. 6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling his day. 7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; 9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. 10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? 11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: 12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. 13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! 14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. 15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands. 16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? 17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity. 18 But the falling mountain shall destroy the rock, and the power of the stones shall wear away. 19 The waters wear the stones: thou overcomest the dust of it. 20 Thy waters are worn away, and the flood destroyeth the earth: the mountains are consumed with the lifting up thereof. 21 The waters of the sea shall be dried up, and the flood shall be wasted and consumed. 22 But as for me, thou wilt lift me up from the gates of death, when thy wrath is past. Thou wilt deliver me from the power of the grave when thou rememberest me.
### Study Summary
The study focused on Job chapters 13 and 14, where Job responds to his so-called comforters with frustration and a desire for direct communication with God. In Job 13:1-12, Job expresses his frustration with his friends, accusing them of offering worthless advice and lying. He desires to speak directly to God, emphasizing his trust and hope in Him despite the trials he faces. Job 13:13-22 sees him willing to face God's judgment and argues his case before Him, expressing his hope and trust in God.
Job 14:1-12 reflects on the brevity and turmoil of human life, contrasting it with the hope of a tree that can regenerate. Job acknowledges the inevitability of death and the human condition, asking if there is hope for life after death. In verses 13-22, Job pleads for God's mercy and acknowledges his human condition, hoping for a chance to face God and be justified.
Kevin highlighted Job's boldness in wanting a direct audience with God and discussed the harm caused by Job's friends' misguided advice. He referenced Proverbs 17:28 to emphasize the importance of silence in times of suffering. Roger explored the idea of Job's faith and his need for understanding and justice, noting the chiastic structure of Job 14 and its parallels in other scriptures. Beck shared insights on the theme of who gets the blame when things go wrong and acknowledged the stress in relationships and the importance of comfort over condemnation.
The group discussed themes of faith, hope, and the human condition, emphasizing the importance of understanding and comfort in times of suffering. Kevin's question about partiality and the value of silence was discussed, with the group agreeing that silence is often underutilized and can be more meaningful than misguided advice.
The study concluded with a reminder of the group's weekly meetings and a thank you to all participants, with a look forward to studying Job 15 in the next session. ==========
