So, uh, in the word, if that is necessary, I will do it with pleasure. Well, copy that.

I will definitely have you read tomorrow. And the section tomorrow is going to be verses 21 to 30. You can be looking that over, and yes, now that your amp is going, you can participate a lot more.

Everybody can hear you, and that is just wonderful. So thanks for that offer, Bert. Appreciate that.

We'll put you in that rotation. That's Bert, W7RJD, and you can read tomorrow, 21-230. All right, WB7MAX here.

Looking for check-ins. West Coast Bible Study, please come down. And 6TMI.

Dan, N6T and I, how you doing this morning brother? How's the neck? The neck has finally started to go away to where it's back to normal.

I'd say I'm probably 99% back, able to turn my head both ways, and praise the Lord. Well that's good news, Jerry. AE70R, we can turn that prayer request for Dan, N6T and I, from a request to a praise.

He's got full mobility back in his neck, freedom from pain, so praise the Lord for that. So good to hear. Dan, glad that God's given you mercy on that because that is a terrible condition to be in.

And God had mercy, so praise the Lord for that. All right, Dan, in 6 TNI. Anything else there, brother?

Just that Jeff, I talked to Jeff on UHF and he's mobiling into work, so he said he'll try to be there here about 6 o'clock, so he's on his way. Copy that. Okay, real good.

We'll be looking for Jeff's voice when he gets here. All right, that's Dan, in 6 TNI. Copy there, Jerry?

Copy. Thank you, Jared. Appreciate that.

All right, any other check-ins at the West Coast Public City, please come down. 10:00 a.m., Flight S. Good morning, Brian.

How you doing? All right, how's that brand-new little filly doing? .

yeah copy that well it's sad that her own mom didn't want to accept her but sometimes they have those strange things especially the first one so uh hopefully that maternal instinct will kick in one way or the other with the uh substitute mom or the real mom and that baby will get some good milk like she needs. So anyway, Brian, appreciate all the effort you make on your farm to bring us produce and animals and food and all those things. And really appreciate you guys up there.

All right, that's Brian, KJ7PWM. Alright, any other check-ins this morning, please come down. Okay, this is Mike 5F.

And there's Will, KM5F. Good morning, Will. How are you doing?

Well, I'm awake. I have a prayer request came from the WS7SAB and Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee. Good morning, Pastor Max, Kathy, and the group.

Okay, so we had a double there, but I got everybody. We've got... Will, KM5F, all checked in with no prior requests.

And now we've got Sandy W7SAB and we've got Beck ALPHA 5Y. Good morning, Beck. How's the Beck family?

Beck ALPHA 5Y, come back to me. One last check, audio. Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee, clear.

Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee, yeah, I hear you just fine. Beck, can you hear me? Over.

Yeah, now I can since I switched to the SDR. How are you this morning? Yeah, doing real good, Beck.

Yeah, I heard you check in, and you and Sandy are doing okay there. Any prayer requests, over? Doing fine here.

Thank you so much, though, sir. I hope you're doing well, too. Alright, we've got Beck Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee and Sandy W7SAB checked in.

Appreciate you guys being there and understand about the SDR. Alright, WB7MAX here, looking for check-ins, please come down. WB7VZL.

Okay, I think we had a double there, but I did pick up Roger, WB7VZL. Good morning, Roger. Good to have you with us.

Any prayer requests, Roger? Yeah, day of prayer tomorrow. I need to represent the media to the group of gathered Christian's highlighting the day of prayer and I'll probably be out early tomorrow because of it because they want us there at quarter to seven.

Over. Copy that. So you probably won't be making the net here then tomorrow, is that correct?

I may check in at the beginning, I don't know. Okay, fine. If you've got to have it early out, no worries.

Okay, Jerry, AE70R, we're praying for Roger WB7VZL. He's going to be the media representative for the day of prayer tomorrow that they're having up there, which means he's going to be talking to the press, representing the Christians and what they are doing. on this day of prayer, and there'll probably be a write-up of some kind in the newspaper based on what Roger says.

So we need to pray that Roger will have wisdom in representing God, His kingdom, in prayer well, and then that whoever writes this article will be favorable in the way in which they write it. Copy there, Jerry? Okay.

You're welcome. All right, real good. Roger, thank you for that.

Anything you want to add, Roger? Yeah, I don't know how much coverage we'll have, but anyway, it's an event and it's tended quite well. Copy that.

Okay, real good. All right, there was another station checking in right alongside. Roger, other station, please come now.

AK6OK, good morning. And there is Jeff, AK6OK. Yep, Dan told us you were on your way, you have arrived, and we got you checked in.

Jeff, any prayer requests? We're in good shape, thanks very much. Alright, real good.

Jeff's in good shape, and he's ready for the Bible study. Alright, any other check-ins to West Coast Bible Study, please come now. Alright, WB7MX here, I'm looking over my STRs, we've got everybody checked in.

We are going to get started with the West Coast Firewall Study. We are in Philippians chapter 1 verses 12 through 20. And in this section Paul continues to talk about his present circumstances.

And of course his present circumstances are that he is in prison. And of course there's always conflict, there's always spiritual warfare, there's always challenges and Paul talked about those. And so we're going to discuss those together today.

Before we get started with our Scripture reading, though, we want to open our time in prayer. Ed in XXOH, if you could open a prayer for us today. Appreciate that.

Sure. Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you this morning.

We ask that you bless our Bible study. You touch each heart here that's participating and listening. You know, all of us here are just really always get a blessing from our study in the mornings, Lord.

And we just honor you with being able to be here. Watch over each and every one of us, Lord, be it Pastor Baxter leads out the Bible study, help us all to gain a blessing, today from this study. And Lord, I just ask you to watch over each and every one of us and help us all to be ready when you come to take us home.

I pray in Jesus' name. In 6XOH. Amen, Ed.

Thank you for that reading. Pardon me, for that prayer. Thank you for that prayer.

I appreciate that. All right, Steve, W6YSI is going to do a reading now for us. Steve, if you could read for us, please.

Philippians 1, verses 12 to 20. Unmute the microphones. Here we go.

Philippians, first chapter, verse 12. I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress in the Gospel, so that my imprisons in the cause of Christ has become well-known throughout the whole Praetorian Guard and to everyone else. and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.

Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from goodwill. Latter, do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed. There's defense of the gospel.

The former, proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed.

And in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice. For I know that this shall turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit, Jesus Christ. According to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall not be put to shame in anything, that with all boldness Christ shall even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

Stop there at 21. 26, why is that? Steve great reading thank you for that that's Steve W6YSI reading to us Philippians 1 verses 12 through 20 great passage here all right any comments on this passage please come down to your call site Roger please go ahead it reminds me of one of my buddies in in the expansion of Positive Life Radio into eastern Washington is that he taught communications here and he said, in a sense, the way the media is, the bad news is better than the No news at all.

So in a way, Paul is tending to this. Whether the source is genuine or transparent, in a sense, it's similar to Jesus. When Jesus reacted to the disciples saying, They're not supposed to be using your name, and Jesus said, "Well, whether they have authority or not to use my name, it's better than nothing at all." Yeah, and you bring up an interesting point there, Roger, that Paul is speaking of in this passage.

And he's talking about two things: he's talking about the content of the preaching, And then he's talking about the motive of the preaching. And I think, you know, we have to look at verse 18 first of all. He says, "Christ is preached, and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice." So the end of the matter is that Christ is being preached.

Now sadly, there were factional groups, some of whom supported Paul and preached Christ. and some of whom were in competition with Paul, and were speaking poorly of Paul. Nevertheless, they still had orthodoxy in their message.

They were still actually preaching the true gospel. And so Paul's saying, "You know, it isn't about me. As long as Christ is being preached, whether people love me or whether people hate me, whether people are slandering me or whether people are supporting me, it's all okay.

And so, you know, we have different denominations. Sometimes those denominations conflict over this issue or that issue. But as long as they're preaching the biblical gospel, you know, salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, then, you know, the Lord's blessing be on them.

They may not see things the way we do with reference to this or that, and they may speak poorly of some of the preachers we think are doing a good job, but we have to stand back and see the bigger picture. and realize, okay, the kingdom is growing, people are getting saved, people are coming to an understanding of the gospel, and that's what we're going to rejoice in. And so we've got to major on the majors and not get all wrapped up in things that are not of the essence of the gospel.

It's not that those things don't matter. They do. And I think we need to care about them, and I think we need to obey God as best we can with reference to them.

Nevertheless, as long as Christ is being preached, then we can support what's going on there. And that's what Paul was doing. Back to you there, Roger.

Yeah, in a way it was similar to what we were participating in. We participated in a music situation for Easter in the season that was definitely a tremendous Mormon presentation on the life of Jesus and His resurrection. And so it probably is similar.

The presentation was very biblical and it was basically all scripture, but it certainly was a way to bring many faiths together. So that's kind of how I viewed it. Yeah, you know, as long as the content was fundamentally biblical.

And oftentimes the people who write these musical pieces, you know, are writing sound theology. You know, you look at Handel's Messiah, right? Anybody who sang Handel's Messiah would be singing the gospel, even if they themselves didn't necessarily believe that gospel in their theology they preach in their churches.

So understand, Roger, the conflicted... condition you were in there with reference to that, but when you look at the content, well, then that's something that you could support because the words of the music were still biblical. All right, Roger, thank you for that input.

Any other comments on this passage, please come down to your call time. 10-6, TNA. Is that X-10?

Okay, we had a double there Dan in 16. I you go first and then we'll get Kevin Dan, please You know, it just amazes me about Paul I have to figure by now. He's been in prison for a fairly long time and you know A lesser man would probably give up and just basically ask the Lord to take him.

But he is torn between leaving, you know, this earthly realm and preaching, you know, the word to people, even though he's still in prison. He has to have some really spiritual convictions to do what he does in prison, and it just amazes me of that. Yeah, Dan, great comment.

And boy, what an example for us, right? I mean, Paul's in terrible circumstances, and yet not only do we see him filled with joy, we see him filled with zeal. to continue to preach the gospel.

And so, you know, if he couldn't go out and establish churches, he's going to preach to the Praetorian Guard. So his prison--the people who kept him in prison, the guards, he preached the gospel to them, and the gospel spread. throughout that section of the palace there and beyond because he was in prison.

And so, you know, the attitude Paul had there, Dan, was that this is just a different mission field. I'm still a missionary. I'm still preaching the gospel.

God in his providence has me in this jail instead of out going from town to town. but it didn't change the message, and it didn't change the mission. And that was to reach people with Christ, whoever those people were, in whatever circumstances he was in.

So if we're in the hospital, we preach Christ. If we're out on the street, we preach Christ. If we're in prison, we preach Christ.

If we're at work, we preach Christ. Wherever we're at, the savor of Christ arises from our lives and from our lips. and provides an opportunity to share the gospel.

So, Dan, the lesson for us, as you well stated, is don't be discouraged because of your circumstances from serving Christ. Recognize Christ put you in those circumstances precisely so you could serve him in those circumstances. because you've got people for you to reach that couldn't be reached any other way.

I mean, Paul probably could have never shared the gospel with a Victorian guard if he weren't in prison, right? So God had his people that he wanted to have reached, and it's like, oh, I'll put Paul in prison so he can reach these people I want to reach. And we just have to have that perspective instead of getting in a state of self-pity or...

getting in a state of quitting because things are tough, we go, okay, this is the place that God wants me to minister. Back to you there, Dan. Exactly.

And, yeah, that's exactly the point I'm getting to, and you said it quite well. So thank you for that. All right, that's Dan in 16.

Dan, thank you for that. Kevin, GB7ZXN, you had a comment. Please come ahead.

WB7VZO WB7VZO go ahead Yeah I distinctly heard Kevin there and his signal was really pretty good Maybe... Kevin are you hearing me? WB7VZO He must have had to step down, but we're just contemplating Chuck Colson and the born again.

And I imagine this passage really inspired Chuck when he was behind bars with all his notoriety and all his, you know, from the president's office. Now he's behind bars and look what he did. Over.

Yeah, amen. If nobody's ever read Chuck Colson's biography, it's called Born Again. And he was part of the Richard Nixon administration.

And, of course, as we know, there was a lot of controversy there over the whole Watergate affair. And Chuck Colson wound up getting convicted of some sort of a crime that escapes me now exactly what it was. And he got sent to prison for a couple years.

And he got saved, and he began to minister to the prisoners. And then when he got out, he started something called Prison Fellowship, which is still going to this day. And it was just a huge blessing to the Kingdom of God.

that this guy got tossed in prison, because lots of prisoners were reached for Christ as a result of what happened to Chuck. So that's a great illustration of this passage and a positive response to a negative circumstance where the individual kept preaching Christ even though conditions were way, way less than pleasant. All right, Kevin, KB7ZXN, are you there with us now?

All right, somehow we lost Kevin. Kevin, we want to let you talk, but we're not hearing your voice. All right, the net would like to acknowledge Gene, K7GWR.

Gene, you were there from the beginning. Just now calling out your name. Appreciate you being there, Gene.

AK7GWR. Alright, any other comments on this passage? Please come down.

AK6OK. Alright. Okay, we had a double there.

We're gonna go first with Mark, KJ7PVT, and then we're gonna go with Jeff, AK6OK. Mark, KJ7PVT, please go ahead. *Distorting audio* Mark, that's a great comment.

Thank you for that. And copy all with good copy. And what Mark is referring to here is in verse 12 through 14.

where he's saying, "The things that happen to me fall out rather to the further into the gospel. My bonds in Christ are manifest in all the Victorian guard, all the palace, all other places." Now here's what Mark was talking about, verse 14: "And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear." And so what Mark was saying is that the example that Paul set of boldness and faithfulness in the midst of persecution helped others to be bold as well. And, you know, we draw courage from each other.

And when we see a Christian who's standing up and standing strong and standing faithful and standing boldly for Christ, then we draw inspiration from that example. We draw encouragement from that example. And we speak up as well.

So we provoke each other to love and to good work. And, you know, that's one of the reasons why, Mark, I think Jesus sent out the disciples two by two, and so that they could encourage each other in doing the work. And so our example, when we serve Christ, not only achieves ministry through us to others, but it also inspires our fellow Christians to step up to the plate and be involved in ministry too.

So, Mark, thank you for pointing that out and the fact that we're not just reaching the lost, we're also encouraging the believers when we boldly serve Christ. Excellent point. All right, Jeff, AK6OK, you had a comment.

Please go ahead. Yeah, good morning. Max, I'm not sure exactly how far we went here, but I love how Paul is making it very clear that there are even those that are speaking about Christ for profits.

It sounds like to me that was their motivation. Paul's saying, I don't care either. Even if they profit, I don't care what their motivation is.

I'm good with it, and I'm going to cheer them on. And down toward 21, and I don't know, again, if we went this far, but this stuck out to me in the message. They didn't shut me up.

They gave me a platform. Alive, I'm Christ's messenger. Dead, I'm his prize.

Life versus even more life, I can't lose. Yeah, that's exactly right. You'll notice in verse 16 it says, the one preached Christ.

And then it says in verse 18, Christ is preached. So even though, as you said, their motives weren't the greatest, the message was still the gospel. Christ was being preached.

They weren't preaching some heresies. They weren't preaching a false gospel. And so even though, as you said, Jeff, their motives may not have been right, their message was sound.

And so therefore, Paul is saying, good for them. I'm just glad that Christ is being proclaimed. well great I'm going to magnify Christ and if in this trial I'm condemned and put to death I'm going to magnify Christ in my death by being faithful to him and I'll bear witness either way and so that's the attitude we have to have is that our success In the gospel and in being faithful to Christ, it's independent of our circumstances, because in any circumstance, you can serve Christ.

And as long as you're doing that, then Christ is magnified, which is what our whole goal is. I love that phrase, Jeff, there in verse 10. He says, Christ shall be magnified.

And he talks about how he's going to be magnified, but really that's the goal right there. Christ is preached. Christ is magnified.

Those are the overarching two concerns that Paul had. And whatever people were doing, whatever was going to happen to him in his circumstances... As long as Christ is preached and Christ is magnified, we're good to go, because that's what we live for and that's what we're all about.

All right, back to you there, Jeff. Yeah, it reminds me of a conversation I had last night. We were at a Bible study with our church, and we started talking about the enemy trying to take you out, and the subject was that when you're proclaiming Christ...

There is no success without a battle. How about that? That's very interesting.

You're not going to see success without some battle. When we first started Operation Worship in 2006, this is something I brought up yesterday, we had a ministry call us about a month into this. We had deployed about 25,000 Bibles.

They called me up and they said, "You know, we've got this really covered. You don't need to go down this road. We've already got the military completely filled with Bibles and we're going to continue." Straightly enough, I was offended by that phone call.

And I thought, "I don't care who's deploying the Bible, man. Everybody should be doing that." And they have disappeared. They're no longer here and we're two and a half million Bibles into it.

You've got to be sold out. And when you listen to Paul here... He sold out for Christ, no question, right?

If that ever comes up in your mind with Paul, you're not paying attention. Well said, Jeff, really well said. And you know, you are so right.

Just because somebody else is doing a ministry doesn't mean there doesn't need to be more of it. And so those other folks who are distributing Bibles, great. You know, for them to say, "We got this covered.

We don't need you doing this." That's like me saying, you know, "I've got the ministry here in Hallsie covered. I don't need anybody else doing anything else." That's ridiculous. There's never enough ministry going on.

We always need more ministry. And so it's not competition, it's reinforcement. I mean, those people should have seen you as reinforcing their ministry, not saying, oh, you don't need to do this, we got this covered.

And of course, that very attitude of self-sufficiency and self-importance is why, you know, they eventually failed and went away. And so, Jeff, I'm glad that you didn't let that discourage you. And as you said, I love that statement, Jeff, there's no success in ministry without a battle.

And, of course, we're on a battlefield, right? And we have Christ and his kingdom in competition with us. I should say in conflict with, is a better word, in conflict with the kingdom of darkness.

And so we're never going to do anything for the Lord, but what we don't get is some pushback from somebody somewhere. And oftentimes, sadly, that pushback comes from fellow professing Christians. And we just have to not allow that to discourage us and say, well, you know, they'll serve Christ in their area, we'll serve Christ in our area.

Right. and would just go along. And you may see that with Paul and Barnabas, how they went on their first missionary journey together, and then they separated.

And Paul wound up going with Silas, and Barnabas took John Mark, and they went their separate ways, but they both preached Christ. And that happens in ministry, and we need to think two things here about what Jeff has said. Number one, we can always use more ministry in the same area we're ministering in.

And number two, You know, there's always going to be a battle in trying to do ministry, and we have to not let that discourage us or cause us to give up and quit. All right, Jeff, great comments. Any other comments, please come down.

Mark, KJ7PVT, go ahead. *Motorcycle engine noise* Yeah, Mark, that's right. Yeah, when a Jehovah's Witness shows up to your door, a Mormon shows up to your door, well, there's a mission field that just came to you.

What an opportunity to preach the Gospel to them. Right, instead of being offended and running them off, if you have the theological ability to combat that heresy and to set the Gospel before them, by all means do that, and do that with a good attitude. So, yeah, it's an opportunity that God brings to you.

You know, I think a lot about these immigrants that are coming in illegally. And while I absolutely support secure borders, And while I certainly think no one should break the law coming into this country, what a mission field to go out to these folks who are displaced and to preach the gospel to them. And oftentimes it's in the midst of migration.

that people come into contact with the gospel. Let me be very clear. I do not support in any way, shape, or form illegal immigration.

But if it's going to happen, and if they're here, well, let's preach the gospel to them and see them brought to saving faith in Jesus. And then if they're deported back to their country, well, then we're just sending a missionary back. If they're naturalized, then there's a point of light here to share the gospel.

Okay, any other comments? Please come down. WB7, visit L.

Roger, please go ahead. Yeah. I heard the topic here about the Mormon missionary, or the person at the door.

And it says they're hanging on to the original way of sharing. They didn't have printing presses. There was no printing presses.

Can you imagine? No radio stations. No TV stations.

Everything was done, so to speak, in the public square. They had to make personal contact, rub shoulders, so to speak. And the person that had the wonderful, outgoing tenor voice, that could be like a trumpet.

I think he had a lot of advantage in making a broadcast, so to speak. Yesterday morning, I have a tradition because of blood sugar issues, just trying to keep blood sugars from staying below 150 after you eat. And so I walk deliberately.

I just move right after I eat. Sure enough, early, early, fairly early in the morning, two Mormon missionaries were out. And by the way, they're looking younger all the time, if you know what I mean.

In other words, as we age these kids, they were just really, really young. And they wanted to know whether I wanted to share a scripture with them. And guess what I shared with them?

It was from our Bible story, Bible study, Philippians 1-6. And I shared with them what it was that we were so pleased about, the promise that God will finish what he has started in us. And then also because the main person, the main Mormon promoter, of the Lamb of God musical was...

She's a household word among the Mormons for this whole region. And she was honored at the end of these two performances. And everybody knows her, and so...

I enjoyed dropping her name to them. They knew immediately that I was in connection with them. But Philippians 1-6 was my hearing yesterday morning on my walk over.

Yeah, amen. And, you know, Gus, the best thing you can do in sharing the gospel is... give out scripture verses, you know?

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. And one of the things I really work at doing when I'm sharing the gospel with people is quote the Bible verses to them, because the power is in the scriptures, it's not in me. the powers in the Spirit of God who inspired the Word of God.

And they're born again by the Word of God, which lives and abides forever. So good for you in bringing Scripture to bear on their consciences. And may the Spirit of God be pleased to use that in bringing them to saving faith in Christ.

So, yeah, you know, wherever we go, God brings us into contact with people. Those people are our mission field, and we need to reach out to them like you did and appreciate you doing that and sharing that. All right, any other comments?

Please come down to the call sign. All right. Mark, KJ7PVT, go ahead.

She says I'll meet you on the way. She goes, I'll meet you tonight. And when it comes over, she makes her way.

She says, okay, cool, I'll go pick that up, and I'll go steady that machine. And she comes back, and she has the right to I'm ... Praise the Lord for that good report, Mark.

Thank you for sharing about Amy's ministry to the Mormons there at the coffee house every Friday. Good for her. And we just pray for her ministry there, that God will open their eyes to the truth.

And praise the Lord that they have consented to come to her church, at least to visit. And we need to pray for their conversion for sure. So thank you for sharing that.

And you know, there's another example of someone taking the opportunities that God brings into their life, and just sharing the gospel with whoever it is that God has brought them into contact with. So that's Mark, KJ7PPT's daughter Amy, who meets with a couple of Mormons every Friday at a coffee shop to share the gospel with them. And they have some good Bible discussions and just praying for their salvation.

You know, and Mark, that brings me back here to verse 12, the very first verse that we read today, where Paul says, but I would that you should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel. You know, a lot of stuff happens to you. A lot of stuff happens to me.

Why does that stuff happen? It happens so that the gospel can be furthered. So when something happens that you weren't expecting, the first thing you need to ask yourself is, okay, I wasn't expecting this.

How can the gospel be furthered in this circumstance? And then, you know, this phrase in verse 17, "I am set for the defense of the gospel." So we're here to defend the gospel. We're here to propagate the gospel.

We're here to see Christ preached. We're here to see Christ magnified. And so our circumstances are our mission field.

========== ### Scripture Reading (KJV) Philippians 1:12-20

12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; 13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; 14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. 19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

### Study Summary The study focused on Philippians 1:12-20, where Paul reflects on his imprisonment and the unexpected spread of the Gospel as a result of his circumstances. Despite his challenging situation, Paul saw his bonds as an opportunity to further the message of Christ. The passage describes how his imprisonment became known to many, including the Praetorian Guard, and inspired some of his fellow believers to speak the word of God with greater boldness and without fear.

Paul acknowledges that some preached Christ out of envy and strife, while others did so out of goodwill. Despite the varied motives, Paul rejoiced that Christ was preached, emphasizing the importance of the message over the messenger. This perspective encourages believers to focus on the essential message of the Gospel, rather than getting entangled in non-essential matters or the motives of those sharing it.

Paul's attitude towards his imprisonment was one of zeal and joy. He saw his prison as a different mission field, a place where he could continue to share the Gospel. His example of not being discouraged by his circumstances but instead using them to further the Gospel is a powerful encouragement to others. The study drew parallels to modern examples, such as Chuck Colson's ministry to prisoners, emphasizing the need for more ministry in similar areas and the inevitability of facing battles.

Participants shared personal experiences that illustrated the broader applications of the passage. For instance, Roger's experience with a Mormon presentation on the life of Jesus, Jeff's encouragement to not be discouraged by ministry calls, and Mark's daughter Amy sharing the Gospel with Mormons at a coffee shop, all underscored the importance of using every opportunity to share the Gospel, even in unexpected encounters.

The study concluded with a reminder that despite the challenges and varied motives of those sharing the Gospel, the message of Christ remains central. Paul's example teaches us to maintain a joyful and zealous attitude, seeing every situation as an opportunity to further the Gospel. ==========
