One last opportunity for a check-in and we'll get started. Any last word to check in, please come down. Hi, we're going to get started with a West Coast Bible study.

Really appreciate you all being here. And we are going through the Bible, and we just discuss each passage as it comes to us. And it's kind of like morning devotions where we make an effort to say, okay, what does God say here?

What does he mean by what he says? And what am I supposed to do about that with my life? So we have lots of people here from lots of different denominational backgrounds and all.

united together around the authority of the Word of God and the salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. All right, we are going to be looking at Ephesians 4:7-16. In this passage, it continues to deal with the sanctification that we have in Christ.

Yesterday we talked about the unity that we needed to preserve, and we needed to endeavor to pursue this unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace. on the basis of a common faith in Christ and in the fundamentals of the doctrine. So we saw verse 3, we endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace.

On what basis? The fact that there's one body, one spirit, one hope of our calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in you all. So there are common things that we confess together that constitute our unity theologically, and then we have unity in terms of the fact that we're all for it again, We all have the indwelling Spirit.

We all have the same Savior. We all have the same destiny. So lots of things that tie us together in spite of the differences we may have at the edges of our beliefs.

Things that don't impact salvation. We allow liberty. Things that involve salvation.

we have unity. So I'm thankful for that. All right.

Well, this discussion of unity continues on here in verses 7 to 16. And in this section, we see that there's a diversity of spiritual gifts that we possess, and that we exercise these gifts in the context of Christian fellowship in the church. And in that context, the vulnerable and the vulnerable, the vulnerable, the vulnerable immature are protected, and everyone grows up into spiritual adulthood, as it says, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

All right, that's where we are at in our study together today, and what we want to do is open our time together in prayer, and then we'll have our scripture reading together. So, Jerry, 8E7ER, could you please open in prayer for us today? Okay.

I'm a slip, right? That's what I'm doing. We come to you Lord this morning, Rachel, for the opportunity to take a step in this myth.

Which makes that trust. And we ask you to be a teacher to this myth that's being given to you. Peace and safety.

help us to understand and employ what we read in this gospel, and we ask all that from Jesus, amen. Amen, real good. Thank you for that, Jerry.

Appreciate that prayer so much. All right, Steve W6YSI is going to read for us this morning, and Steve, if you could read for us Ephesians chapter 4, verses 7 to 16, that would be great. Go ahead there, Steve.

Now the reading from the New American Standard. - Yes, being in verse seven, verse four. "But to each one of us grace was given "according to the measure of Christ's gift.

"Therefore, it says, when he attended a high, "he led captives, a host of captives, "and he gave gifts in the name of Jesus Christ." Now this expression, he ascended, what does it mean except that he also had descended to the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is himself also he who ascended. far above all the heavens, they might fill all things.

And he gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service the building up of the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, the major status which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children tossed here and there by waves, carried away by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness and deceitful scheming, but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted, held together, by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes growth of the body, the building up, of itself, if loved. I stop through at Route 17.

Flight, Steve, great reading. Thank you for that. W6YSI, much appreciated.

Okay, any comments on this section that Steve just read to us, please come down with your callsign. Flight team, go ahead, Wireside. Go ahead, Wireside.

The first thing that pops up to me is just verse 7. You know, a lot of times growing up as a Christian, and knowledge and wisdom and whatnot. Sometimes, you know, we think of, "Oh, what's my part in all of this?

What am I to do?" And the thing that just really speaks to me is that each one of us, each and every one of us, has been given a gift. a gift from Christ and let's just keep the hustle and that gift and why we have that gift so great observation and great comment every single believer without exception has a spiritual gift given to them that is a God given ability for service that's what a spiritual gift is it's a God given ability what does God give us that ability for it's to do service to our fellow Christians And so whether it's the gift of teaching or the gift of exhortation or the gift of help or any of the other spiritual gifts, those are given so that we can serve other members of the body. Now, when you think about your own physical body there, Steve, you have a hand and it has a certain ability and you have a foot and it has a certain ability.

And each of those are essential to the well-being of the body, but neither of them are interchangeable. You can't walk on your hands, and you can't grab things with your feet. So, you know, you have something to bring to the body of Christ that I can't, and I can bring something that you can't.

And when we add it all up together, where every person brings their spiritual service, that God has equipped them to be able to do, then all the needs in the body are met. And that's why it's important for us all to show up. That's why it's important for us all to be there.

That's why it's all important for us all to have some place of service that we engage in. And so the Kingdom of God isn't a spectator sport, you know, where some people sit and do nothing while other people do a whole bunch. But everyone has something to contribute.

That's what it's saying there in verse 16, when it says, "From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working and the measure of every part, makes the increase of the body to identifying of itself in love." So I think the question we have to ask ourselves today, Steve, is simply this: What is my God-given ability for service, and am I using that faithfully to bring blessing and ministry into the lives of the people around me at church and in my home and wherever else I may come into contact with believers? Brother Jim in 7BKE has the gift of evangelism, and so he's constantly sharing the gospel with others. So every one of us has something to bring and something to share.

Steve, thanks for pointing that out. All right, WB7MX here looking for other comments on our passage in Ephesians 4:7-16. Please come down to the call sign.

AK6OK? Jeff, AK6OK. Please go ahead.

Yeah, I can speak to that one. And I have the most unworthy guy in the world to be doing that job, and that's the job we do with the military. And the job gets bigger and bigger every day.

I think this might be the gift of, you know, the mission. Matt, go ahead. Yeah, so there's called the gift of help, okay?

And elsewhere it's called the gift of ministry. And it's the idea of just getting in and serving both physically and spiritually when you see a need and you just go out and meet that need. For example, Jeff, in a church you've got the highly visible gifts like a pastor, right?

And everybody goes, okay, and he has a gift of pastor, teacher, maybe a gift of administration on top of that. But then in order to make the church work, you've got 50 other people who are serving as or behind the scenes. It's not visible.

People generally don't take note of it. But there's a thousand things that have to be done in order to make the highly visible gifts be able to function and be able to be effective. And I think of myself, Jeff, as a retired pastor for 34 years.

But in the scene, there were people preparing the food. There were people cleaning the building. There were people making sure the sound system was working.

There were people who were going out and ministering to the poor. There was a lot of people doing things behind the scenes. So Jeff, yes, we're all unworthy.

I am unworthy of ever standing in a pulpit and preaching the Word. But God makes us able. And you're right, you are unworthy yourself, but God makes you worthy.

He gives you that gift and that ability. And a lot of what you do is behind the scenes. But that is a spiritual gift.

It's called the spiritual gift of help or ministry. And so good for you for exercising that gift, Jeff. Back to you.

Okay, well, thanks. Good explanation. I've got to tell you, it's interesting because not only am I unworthy, I sit back and all we do is push stuff out and get it to the right place.

And it's a humbling experience because I had no indication in my life ever that we'd be doing something like this. Wow, it's crazy. It's crazy cool.

And God has opened doors for us all over the planet. It is humbling to know. Especially trips that I've made to the Pentagon, spoken at the Pentagon years ago, and all the different stuff we get to do.

And all of it started with... We want you to suck monkeys out of a cannon. I don't know if you guys have ever heard this story.

I'm not going to tell it now, but it started this entire ministry back. So, you know what? Don't be surprised when God picks you and says, hey, I want you to do something for me.

Yeah, amen. And also, Jeff, there's a gift of giving, you know, and that is, you know, God has given you. access to resources that you can direct to meet physical needs, and that's a spiritual gift, too.

So, yeah, you know, you look at the Apostle Paul, right? If the church were ever to vote for the least likely guy to ever do anything in the church, it would have been Saul of Tarsus. And yet look at how God grabbed this guy, saved him, and then called and equipped him with unique, extraordinary spiritual gifts and abilities so that he wound up evangelizing the entire known world and writing half the New Testament.

What an unlikely guy. And Jeff, that's you and me and everyone else on this net. We look at who we are.

And then we look at what God has called us to do and equipped us to do and provided us with the opportunity to do, and we just stand back kind of dumbfounded. It's like, wait a second here, I'm less than the least of all saints. I'm the chief of sinners, and yet God is using me to accomplish this in his kingdom?

I'm not worthy of that. And the point is, we're not worthy, but God makes us worthy. And so he doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

And so if his call is on your life, Jeff, he'll give you the ability to do what he calls you to do. As it says in Philippians, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." So if you're sitting there saying, "I'm unable," then amen, you are, but God is able. And that's where our confidence is.

And then when he does something in us, with us, through us, then to God be the glory, great things he has done. And so our unworthiness causes us to... Now we have that attitude of dependence and faith and trust, but also when anything's achieved, we realize that was God, that wasn't me.

To Him be the glory. All right, Jeff, great comments. Thank you for that, and thanks for that illustration.

All right, any other comments on this passage? Please come down here closer. K6LBP.

JR, K6LVP, good to have you brother. What's your comment? Go ahead.

My comment Max is exactly what you stated a moment ago. I learned quite some time back from a mentor that I need not be full of fear when I've got God's power. When I take Jesus with me, I have nothing to fear.

I used to be afraid to get in front of people and do... Well, you know, I see people all the time, and I think we all do, who are full of fear of stepping out and trying something new. And the statement that you just made about that God does not call on the prepared, but God prepares the called on, is a huge statement.

And we know that the evil spirits are the ones who fill us with fear. and keep us from stepping out and doing God's work oftentimes, and we need not fear anything. Step forward and give it a go, and as long as you've got Him with you, He's going to give you the power to do it just right.

K6LBP. What a great comment, and that is absolutely the truth. You know, God meets us when we start to minister.

and not before. You know, I preach thousands of times, but every time I'm afraid. And every time I have to say to myself, no, Max, God is going to give you the ability when the time comes.

And then once you step out and you actually start, it's amazing how the ability and the strength comes in that moment. You know, JR, think about the children of Israel on the east bank of the Jordan River during flood time when Joshua had led them there, right? And it's like God says, okay, cross the Jordan River and go to the other side and conquer Jericho, right?

And it wasn't until the priest bearing the ark actually put their feet into the water that God stopped the river. And so it was when they stepped out that God met the need not before. So it wasn't like he stopped at the river and it's like, okay, now you guys can walk across.

It's like, walk across, and as you are stepping out, then I will stop at the water. And that's exactly what happened. So, yeah, the fear is there, and the fear is real.

But faith overcomes fear, and faith says... I'm not able. God's able.

And so I'm going to step forward, and I'm going to speak. And I know as I do that, God will meet me and help me. There's a passage we read, J.R., not long ago in 2 Corinthians 3 that has really stuck with me through the years.

It's 2 Corinthians 3, 5, and 6. 2 Corinthians 3, 5 says, Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God who has also made us able ministers of the new covenant. And so we're not sufficient, but God makes us able as ministers.

So, JR, thanks for pointing out your experience and those principles. You are spot on, and those are things we need to remember. Don't be afraid.

But if I say step out knowing God's going to need us in the moment and God's going to help us in the task, and then when that happens, there's nothing more amazing than to experience the supernatural enablement of God as you're doing something that in and of yourself you're not able to do. And that's such an exhilarating experience. All right, any other comments on this passage?

Please come down to the call line. It'll be easy. Okay, we had a doubler, a triple there.

I think I heard Al KJ7QQH. Al, go ahead. We'll catch the others in a minute.

KJ7QQH, this is George. I was just wondering if maybe that's where we got our phrase, "getting your feet wet" was just taken on our new challenge, KJ7QQH. Yeah, Al, I think that's exactly where it came from.

And so, getting your feet wet, that is stepping out and starting out. And then seeing how God meets you in that, I think that's probably where that phrase came from. I'm not an expert in etymology or the provenance of phrases, but it certainly makes good sense to me.

Back to you there, Al. Dr. Dent, I've been there many times, and I know the feeling of taking on a job.

Amen. And you know that's what serving God is all about. It's about going outside of our comfort zone, going outside of our natural abilities, and trusting God to meet us in our inability with his ability.

And, you know, Paul says that, you know, God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. And so, you know, when we feel weak, we feel unable, we feel inadequate, that creates not only fear, but humility. And in that humility we say, "Lord, without you I can do nothing, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

And so, Father, strengthen me as I step out here in faith to serve you and to bring glory to your name. Be a laborer together with me as I seek to serve you in your cause and in your kingdom." And God will always honor that prayer. I can't tell you how many, literally thousands of times.

God has supplied what I didn't have in the time when I needed it in order for his work to get done, his people to be edified, and his glory to be proclaimed. And that's something we do by faith. And it's kind of a supernatural, invisible thing.

Nobody else sees it, but you experience it, you know it. And, you know, as you look back, Al, and see how many times God did meet with you and did help you, when you did step out, it gives you confidence to do it again. All right, Al, great comment.

Okay, were there other comments from your other call signs? Please come now. LBP.

LBP, JR, go ahead. Yeah, I just wanted to add on to that that we are rapidly coming up to one of my favorite passages in the whole Gospel, and that is Ephesians 6, 10, where it says, "...Finding my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might." that has proven to be true for me so many times. And I have, you know, I've done many talks, and I have people ask me after the talk, what did you say?

And before I do these talks, I spend a little quiet time, and I ask for the words to be his and the voice to be mine. And when people say, what did you say? I tell them quite clearly and honestly that I don't know.

I only spoke what was there, and if the talk was recorded, they can listen to it later. And oftentimes it's stuff that I've never, there are things that come out of me that I have never thought of. They are new thoughts created in the moment, and I do not take credit for them.

K6LDP. Yeah, and you know that divine illumination that takes place in the moment is something that is extraordinary. I know exactly what you're saying.

I've said things, you know, in counseling or in preaching or teaching or whatever, and somebody says, could you go back and say that again? Yeah. And I'm, you know, thinking, well, God gave me the words in the moment.

I'll rephrase that, but I don't think I can say those exact words again. They're not written down on a piece of paper. And, you know, God says that, I believe it's in Matthew chapter 10, where when you're called before magistrates, you know, when they're persecuting you, he says, don't take any thought about what you're going to reply.

You know, I will be with you at that time in that moment. And of course, that's a unique circumstance of pressure that it's impossible to prepare for. I mean, I always studied the passage.

I always had notes. I always preached from a prepared sermon. But at the same time, there was a lot that was given to me in the moment that wasn't on the paper.

And so, yes, I understand exactly what you're saying. You have that divine illumination. God gave you the Word in the moment to express the truth.

And that is an amazing experience, J.R. I'm so glad that you've had that. I know others have as well.

And you know, when you have the gift of teaching or you have the calling to be a preacher of the Word of God, at whatever level, God honors that gift with His presence and with His help. And that is something that makes you stand back in awe and in gratitude and humility because you realize, "That wasn't me." That was God and so when somebody says oh I'm so blessed it's always well praised the Lord. Alright real good JR thanks for that.

Other comments please come down. W A7 BXX W A7 BXX good to have you with us this morning how are you doing? Oh, I'm doing great.

And I, uh, well, it's kind of strange getting in here. We're talking about everything in the dirt. And then what happened, I one time hit our camping creek.

I can't even remember the passage now that I've preached it on. But one of the things the Lord did for me, my gift of service, and there's no doubt about that, that our Damascus community church in here in Oregon, many, many years ago we had a choir director that asked me to build something that 52 people could get in and it would look something like Christmas tree. And I told him that my service, I mean my occupation here is a carpenter.

And so many Many, many days went by, and finally, I was sitting in the living room, and I had just read my proverb through the day, and I got this feeling that you know exactly how to build that singing Christmas tree. And it dawned on me how to do it. And it was not me that did it.

It was the Lord told me how to do it. And I built it in the church there in the driveway. And then we tore it down and built it in the church.

And that is still going today. Many, many people have still seen that singing Christmas tree and how it was designed and built. And it was not me.

It was the Lord. Go ahead. Yeah, Lloyd, thanks for that testimony.

Really appreciate that. And you're exactly right. And what happens to you in the physical realm happens to others.

in whatever realm it is that they are ministering. And you're right, what you got was divine illumination. That is, God put together all the knowledge, all the background, all the experience that you had in a new way so that you were able to see something that needed to be done and how to do it.

And God gave you the wisdom. You know, it says in James 1, verse 5, If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and upbraids not, and it shall be given to him. And, you know, how many times we have this task or that task to do, we say to ourselves, I don't know how to do this.

I can't do this. You pray for two things. You pray for wisdom and you pray for strength.

And it's amazing how the God meets that need for, okay, here's how I can do it, and then here's the strength to be able to do it. And so praise the Lord for that, Lloyd. Really appreciate that testimony.

of how God's grace worked in you to give you a way to express your spiritual gift, which is the gift of service. All right, Lloyd, great comment. Thank you.

All right, other comments, please come out. All right, the net would like to acknowledge Carol, KK7TPO. Carol, see you there on the Utah STL.

I appreciate you being there. All right, we've got Carol checked in. All right, any other comments on our passage?

There's a lot here we haven't touched on yet. Please come down to call sign. All right, well, I'd like to talk a little bit about the nature of the family of God and how the older ones, protect the younger ones.

Now, you all were raised in families of some kind, and when you were a little kid, mom and dad would look out for you, right? Because there's predators out there, and there's bad things that can happen to children just because they're immature, ignorant, unexperienced, and unaware of danger. And, you know, it talks here about the fact that God gave some evangelists and some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, so that they can then edify or build up the body of Christ.

For the goal, verse 13, that we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God and to a mature man to measure the stature of the fullness of Christ. So we're all trying to grow up into Christ, which is great. But, verse 14...

is the verse I'm kind of focusing on, that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the flight of men and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive. And so you've got mature men here described, mature adults is the idea, includes women for sure, and then you've got children. And so children are susceptible to doctrinal deception.

So when you're a brand-new believer and somebody comes along and starts teaching, you know, it's really easy to be deceived by false teachers. What's the antidote? What's the protection that young believers have from false teachers, these spiritual predators?

these spiritual child abusers who want to take children, young believers, and subvert them into some sort of a cult. But the older believers who are looking out for them, and I think this really speaks to the reason why we need to be in community, why we need to be in church. Because in a church, you've got the mature, experienced, wise, knowledgeable, if you will, adult believers, right?

And then of course you've got folks who just got saved, brand new believers, they don't know anything, hardly, except the Gospel. And they need to be protected from false teachers. And so it's really important that while God saves us as individuals, He doesn't save us individualistically, which means that as soon as He saves us, He places us into the body of Christ, into communion, and connection with other believers.

And that's one reason why we have this Bible study. It's one reason why we have the church. It's the reason why we connect with other believers, because there's strength.

As each one exercises their spiritual gifts, as EW6YSI opened our study with. And also we receive protection. because many false teachers have gone out into the world.

And even these false apostles present themselves as angels of light. And Paul warns us against those in 2 Corinthians chapter 11 there. So let's look out for the young believers, okay?

If you see someone who is maybe brand new in the faith or maybe they're being exposed to some false teaching, get in there and protect them and help them to stay on the teaching of the scriptures. All right, other comments, please come down. Well, you're not talking a bunch.

I don't want to do all the talking here. Anybody want to comment on any of these verses, please come down to the call sign. Boy, what happened here?

I'm not sure, Jeff. I'm not sure. It's like everybody just got tongue-tied all of a sudden.

Jeff, give us a comment here. What do you got? Well, I'm reading down here.

Let's see. "As a result, we are no longer to be children." That means grow up. God's giving you something to do and giving everyone of us something different to do.

We're not like each other. And let's not be talked here and there by the waves carried about. Let's see, are we down that far?

I think we are, right? By every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people and craftiness and deceitful schemes, but speak the truth in love. We're all to grow up in all aspects to him who is the head, that is Christ.

We're supposed to emulate Christ here. as we get more and more mature and understand all of this, and some of this is very hard to fathom and understand. But I think here he's saying step up to the plate, quit being a kid like we are, over.

- Copy that, yeah. We're all supposed to be growing. Nobody's supposed to be static, right?

We've all seen people in adult bodies, but they still act like 10-year-olds in their character. That's kind of sad. And they never grew up, even though they aged.

And Paul talks, well, I don't know if Paul wrote Hebrews, but whoever wrote the book of Hebrews, He talks about the fact that we need to get off milk and get onto strong meat, and not just continue to spin around in circles, but let's make some progress. And what's interesting, Jeff, is we see here the diversity and the unity. The diversity is we've all got different gifts.

The unity is that we're all supposed to have the character of Christ. And twice it says that here, Jeff. It says we're supposed to, in verse 13, grow up into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Last phrase in verse 13. And then verse 15, grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. So we all have the same goal, and that goal is Christlikeness.

We all bring something different to the table. That's our spiritual gift. And we're all supposed to be making progress toward the goal.

And, of course, there are those cunning, crafty, false teachers who try to pull us away from that goal. They're really the servants of Satan. And then there are those who are protecting those young believers and helping them move towards those goals.

And those are our faithful fellow saints. So there's a dynamic nature to Christianity. There's protection.

There is progress. There is mutual ministry. And ultimately, we're all headed to the same outcome, which is to be like Jesus in our faith and in our walk, in our character, in our understanding.

And how is all that achieved? Well, we speak the truth in love. And it's really important that we speak the truth, because it says in John 17, 17, Sanctify them by thy truth, thy word is truth.

That's Jesus' high priestly prayer there. So if we're going to grow up, it's going to be through the instrumentality of truth. And so in our churches, in our Bible study, we don't downplay truth in order to create a false unity that is on the basis of the fact that everything that everybody says is, is all perfectly fine no matter what it is.

No, there is truth and there is error. And we have to distinguish between them because it's only through truth that we grow up. Nobody who believes false doctrine is helped by that false doctrine to be more like Jesus.

So it's important for us to understand what the truth is, define it, and then teach it and live it out in our lives. All right, any other comments on this passage? Please come down.

Let me talk about living it out in your life, Mac. Yeah, go ahead, Jeff. Yeah, I just stick to it pretty well.

And it's not that you have to get in people's faces about who Christ is at all. It's how you live out your life and that they get to see this and people's curiosity comes up and they go, why are you like you are? I've been asked this question for many, many, many years.

People don't even have issues with it. Why the heck are you like you are? And that opens up the door, kicks it open and says, I'll tell you what's different about me.

I love Jesus. That's what it is. And they go, no, no, no, there's nothing different.

You're just not normal. Boy, I can agree with that anyway. But this is how some of the spiritual gifts can come out and how people can see it.

Even nonbelievers can see it. And that's how God kicks doors open for us. to have an impact on other people.

Amen. You know, somebody said to me, Jeff, one time, he said, you're a sermon in your shoes. And what he meant by that is the way you walk, the way you live, the way you talk, communicates a message.

And, you know, you're right. There's that passage in 1 Peter that says, be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. Well, they need to be seeing the hope, and they see the hope in our witness, in our words, and in our actions.

And so we have two kingdoms in this world. We have the kingdom of Jesus, and we have the kingdom of Satan, and people live differently in those kingdoms. And so we are living a distinctively Christian life.

humility, of service, and of a godly character, and of a clear testimony for Jesus in our conduct and behavior. You're right. People see that and they go, whoa, that's way different than most, how most folks live.

And it opens doors for witness. So yeah, Jeff, our actions are are huge in terms of the testimony that we give. And that's what Jesus meant when he said, let your light so shine before men that they may see what?

Your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. So it's our words, our words matter, but our works also matter. And both our words and works need to be on the same page, reinforcing each other, not contradicting each other.

And when they are, it's a light to all of those around us. So... Great comment there, Jeff.

Thank you. Well, we are out of time. We need to go to prayer.

We tried to do rewind this up around 6:40, a little past that, but we are going to go to prayer now. All right, are there any final prayer requests before I leave this in prayer? Please come down with your call, please.

Yeah Yeah, copy that. So it doesn't look like they want to do surgery, they're just going to give you the steroids and try to go from there, is that correct?

Yeah, it's not impeccable. I do not want that surgery. I've had a few new friends that have had it and it doesn't always go well.

Yeah, copy that. The only way I would ever get back surgery is if I absolutely was in intolerable, continuous, unrelenting pain. Because you're right, I've talked to lots of people that have had back surgery and boy, it's a real uncertainty as to whether that's going to help or whether it's going to make it worse.

Over. Yeah, sure. It's much better to try to manage it than try to think it.

Boy, it's like it's going to like that, isn't it? Well, you know, Jeff, there's so many nerves in there that it's really tough for them to get it all figured out. And, you know, I've had severe back pain off and on throughout my life.

And, you know, I know there's degenerative things that never get better, but I just found that time is the solution to most back pain. Now, I do have some chronic pain that's never going to go away. It's going to be with me all my life.

But, you know, I've been blessed by God. I hurt my back the first time probably when I was 19 years old. And, you know, it's flared up off and on through the years, and then I've had other injuries as well.

And God's been merciful to just bring about natural healing in many respects. I have numbness down my left leg and in my left foot from a back injury. But, you know, it's something I'd rather live with than try to fix, for sure.

So I think that's a wise course of action, and hopefully that'll bring some relief if they put that cortisone or whatever it is in there. Jeff, back to you. Yeah, I fully agree, and that's where I've landed to and decided that, yeah, this is the best solution.

Anyway, there should be no non-issue. I think it will work out just fine. Very similar to you, I've had back problems, whatever.

I've abused myself. I've been working too hard for many years, and I learned when I was about 16. So, you know how that happens.

Yeah, I sure do. I sure do, yep. And, you know, the back is so important.

It's vulnerable, and, you know, one of the things I did is I taught my boys as they're growing up, you know, take care of your back. It doesn't mean that you don't work, that you don't work hard, but you work smart. And you don't do stupid things that put unnecessary sudden strain.

And I try to keep them away from impact sports, you know. I don't know how many people who have permanent pain from playing high impact sports. And then doing crazy things like jumping motorcycles off ramps and that kind of stuff.

Yeah, that's all fun when you're young until you have to live with it when you're old. So it's important that we train our young men especially to be wise stewards of their bodies so that in their old age they're not left virtually paralyzed, don't we? Yeah, that's for sure.

And, boy, we don't seem to have good sense. You know, first indication we've got a back problem is, "Boy, we need to keep doing it." That's the follow man right there. Okay Mac, have a good Saturday.

We're heading over to Lone Eagle to watch our grandkids ride over. Alright, real good. Well you and Patty have a great day.

God bless you. We'll talk to you tomorrow, Jeff. AK60K73WB7MAX, clearance, standing by.

Summary

========== ### Scripture Reading (KJV)

Ephesians 4:7-16

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
