### Detailed Bible Study Summary: Galatians 3:15-18

#### Introduction
In this Bible study, we delved into Galatians 3:15-18, focusing on the themes of covenants, promises, and the purpose of the law. The passage, taken from the New American Standard Bible, is a pivotal section in Paul's letter to the Galatians, where he argues against the legalistic tendencies that were threatening to undermine the gospel of grace. The study was led with a focus on understanding the historical and theological context of the covenants and promises made to Abraham, and how these relate to the broader narrative of salvation through Christ.

#### Covenants and Promises
Paul uses human covenants as an analogy to explain divine covenants, emphasizing that once a covenant is established, it cannot be annulled or altered. The covenant with Abraham and his seed (singular, referring to Christ) is highlighted as a cornerstone of God's plan. This covenant, made long before the law was given, stands firm and cannot be invalidated by subsequent legal requirements. The law, introduced 430 years after the covenant with Abraham, was not intended to replace or negate the covenant but to serve a different purpose.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How does the concept of a covenant help us understand God's relationship with humanity?
- What does it mean for the covenant with Abraham to be unchangeable, and how does this affect our understanding of salvation?

#### Purpose of the Law
The purpose of the law is multifaceted. Given through angels, it was added to restrain transgressions and to preserve the lineage until the coming of Christ. The law does not save; instead, it reveals sin and points to Christ as the solution. This understanding is crucial for grasping the relationship between the Old and New Covenants. The law acts as a tutor or schoolmaster, guiding immature believers towards Christ, but it is not the end goal. The ultimate purpose of the law is to lead people to Christ, who offers salvation through faith, not through law-keeping.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How does the law function as a tutor or schoolmaster in our lives?
- In what ways can we recognize when we are relying too heavily on legalism rather than faith in Christ?

#### Salvation by Faith
Salvation is by faith, not by law-keeping. Abraham's salvation was by faith, predating circumcision and the law. This underscores that the promise of salvation through Christ is for all peoples, not just Jews. The Abrahamic covenant includes promises of a seed (Christ), a land, and a blessing that extends to all nations through Christ. This universal aspect of salvation is a key theme in Paul's argument, emphasizing that the gospel is for all, not just a select few.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How does the concept of salvation by faith challenge our tendency to earn salvation through works?
- How can we better communicate the universal nature of salvation to those outside the faith?

#### Old Covenant vs. New Covenant
The Old Covenant was temporary, serving to restrain transgressions and preserve the lineage until Christ's coming. The New Covenant, in contrast, brings final maturity and adulthood in Christ. This transition from the Old to the New Covenant is not about discarding the old but about embracing the fulfillment that Christ brings. The law, while important, is not the end goal; it points to Christ, who offers the ultimate fulfillment of God's promises.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How do we navigate the transition from the Old to the New Covenant in our understanding of God's plan?
- What does it mean to move from a legalistic mindset to one of faith in Christ?

#### Spiritual Growth and Maturity
The law acts as a tutor or schoolmaster to guide immature believers, but the Holy Spirit is essential for salvation and ongoing spiritual growth. The need for daily quiet time to listen to the Spirit amidst worldly noise was emphasized. This practice helps believers maintain a strong spiritual foundation and resist being drawn away from their initial faith and love.

**Discussion Questions:**
- What practices can we adopt to ensure we are listening to the Holy Spirit daily?
- How can we guard against backsliding and maintain spiritual health?

#### Closing Reflections
The group thanked Max for leading the discussion and emphasized the importance of daily spiritual practices. Prayer requests were made for ongoing needs and challenges faced by members. The group looked forward to continuing discussions and support for each other. The analogy of social media's impact on youth and the need for parental guidance was paralleled with the Old Covenant's role in Israel's growth, highlighting the importance of guidance and direction in spiritual maturity.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How can we apply the principles discussed to our modern lives, especially in the context of social media and technology?
- What steps can we take to ensure we are spiritually mature and not just following legalistic rules?

This study provided a rich exploration of the themes of covenants, promises, and the purpose of the law, all centered around the overarching message of salvation by faith in Christ.

And I'll be reading from, as usual, the New American Standard Bible. Brethren, I speak in terms of human relations, even though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds conditions to it. Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, "and to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, and to your seed, that is Christ. What I am saying is this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God so as to nullify the promise. "For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise." "Why the law then?" "It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed should come to whom the promise had been made." Now a mediator is not for one party only, whereas God is only one. Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. But the Scripture has shut up all men under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe." Back to you, Max. Max Keiser: Hi, Roger. Excellent reading. Thank you for that. Real clear, and appreciate the way you articulated those passages. All right. Interesting section here. Any comments, please come now. ZXN. Kevin, KB7ZXN, please go ahead. Yeah, talked about some of this yesterday a little bit and You know, this is a, Paul really is making some important points and arguments that we might understand. And as he started down in chapter 3, you know, as he talks about salvation, the gospel, and how we are saved, he first of all asked him five questions. What about your salvation? How were you saved? Not your philosophies, not your theological philosophies. But how were you saved? Well, of course, you were saved by faith. And then he goes into the Old Testament and actually quotes the Old Testament seven times here through chapter three at this point. And points even back to Abraham. You know, Abraham's salvation was by faith as well. It was counted to him. unto faith. 14 years before circumcision and 430 years before the law was. The promise of God and the promise looked forward even through the law and the law even pointed to was Christ who came and fulfilled the law on our behalf. The law, of course, as he talks about here and in different places, played a specific role and some very specific roles there. But the law does not save. The law reveals our sin. Like I mentioned yesterday, it's like a mirror to us. But he also makes the point here, too, and as we read the text yesterday, that it was God's plan that salvation would be made available to all peoples, to all peoples. And that salvation is still through the seed of Abraham. This is one of the wonderful evidences of God's, in him keeping his promises as he made promises to Abraham before the Jews, before the law. He made promises that the big one, there's still some yet to be kept or fulfilled, but the big one here he focuses on is the Messiah through Christ. And that is significant because that is how we are saved, because of the work and the role of Christ. And as he continues on from here too, which in the chapter 3 and 4... as he talks about what that is, because, you know, the church is not simply an affinity group. It's not like, you know, a bunch of hams getting together that have an interest in ham radio, or a bunch of fishermen that get together frequently because they love to fish, or musicians, or whatever interest you might look at. When we are in Christ, we are in the family of God. And this is one of the directions that Paul is going to in his discussion and his argument here. But here it is important to understand that it was always God's plan that the gospel, one, would go out to all nations, that we don't need a church for the Jews. We don't need a church for the Gentiles. We don't need to become a Jew to be saved. It's Christ alone. It's the work of Christ. And that salvation by faith and that promise of God was true for Abraham. It was true for all the patriarchs of the Old Testament. And it's true for us today. KB7 is that example. Yeah, Kevin, good comments. You know, this whole argument that is here in Galatians, as Kevin said, is rooted in the Abrahamic covenant. And in particular, in two of those promises: one is that Abraham would have a seed, and And the second, that all nations would be blessed through Abraham. The blessings of Abraham would come upon all nations. And so the Abrahamic covenant is a really big deal. Covenants are a big deal in the Bible. In fact, covenants are the central organizing principle of the Bible. You know, you have the New Age covenant, you have the Abrahamic covenant, you have the Old Covenant, you have the Davidic covenant, and of course we have the New Covenant. And so under each of these arrangements, God administered his redemptive, his saving plan. And so here we have God making a covenant with Abraham. And you can read about that in Genesis 12 and Genesis 15 and Genesis 17. and in Genesis 22, four times God articulates the terms of the Abrahamic covenant. And those terms are fundamentally, number one, He promises him a seed, and He promises him a land, and He promises him a blessing. And that blessing would not just be to him, but it would eventually extend to all the nations of the earth. And so what Paul does here in our passage is he picks up the promise of the seed, and he remarks on the fact that this word seed is not in the plural. It's in the singular. And so he emphasizes the fact that the seed is referring to an individual. not just a bunch of descendants. And of course the Abrahamic covenant was fulfilled approximately in Isaac, he was the seed, but it was fulfilled ultimately in Jesus Christ, who is actually the seed. the ultimate fulfillment of it. So this whole idea that salvation flows to us out of the Abrahamic covenant and the promises it contains and the seed that it promised and now has been fulfilled in Jesus is a key element in this passage that we're looking at. So Kevin, thank you for those comments. All right, other comments, please come down. Roger, please go ahead. Yeah, you both, and thank you for both of you. Verse 18 certainly moved my heart besides the singular seed. Verse 18 was moving to my heart in that respect. Yeah, that's for sure. So we got the Abrahamic covenant, and some 400 years later, the old covenant came along. But when the old covenant came along, it didn't disannul or set aside the Abrahamic covenant. Because the promises of the Abrahamic covenant are not received by our performance, but rather they're received on the basis of God's promise. And that's that last phrase in verse 18, God gave it to Abraham by promise. So it's the promises of God. And what's interesting is that when you look at the Abrahamic covenant, only one person made promises, and that was God. And so there was no need for a mediator because there weren't two parties. It was just God. of making promises. And then of course when the Old Covenant happened, you had a mediator, of course that was Moses, and what happened is both the people made promises and God made promises. So that's the argument that's going on here in the passage, is that God was alone in making the Abrahamic Covenant, but then when the Old Covenant was made some 400 years later, the people and God both made promises. And so, but that covenant that came forward 30 years later did not set aside or disannul the promise that was made to Abraham and the covenant that was made with him. So good comment there, Roger. And yes, verse 18 says, The inheritance is not of the law. Salvation doesn't come by our law keeping. It comes by the promises of God. He says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." That's a promise. And that's how we get the inheritance of eternal life and redemption and reconciliation with God. is by believing in the promised seed, who is, of course, Jesus Christ. All right, other comments. Please come now. Well, I think it's important for us to understand here that Paul tells us that the... The Old Covenant had a different purpose than the Abrahamic Covenant. The Abrahamic Covenant was redemptive. It promised salvation. And so it's going to give us the seed, who is Jesus. It's going to give us the blessing, which is salvation. And it's going to give us the land, which is the new heavens and the new earth. That's our ultimate land that is promised to us. And of course, all of those promises had proximate fulfillment. Isaac was the seed, and of course, the land was the land of Israel as we know it today. And the blessing was that they received the scriptures, and they received God's protection and God's... prosperity as they obeyed the Old Covenant. And He was their special protector, and they were a kingdom of priests to Him. So they had a special relationship with God. That was a blessing. And of course, the ultimate fulfillment is the seed is Jesus, the land is the new heavens and the new earth, and the blessing is salvation. So all of that arises out of the Abrahamic covenant. Well, we've got this Old Covenant coming along some 400 years later. What's that all about? So verse 19 tells us, we're then servants of law. And I want to just make a point here to all of us, is that the word law is used in a variety of ways in the Scripture. And so in this passage, clearly from the context, it's referring to the Old Covenant. So when he talks about the law, he's talking about the Old Covenant. Sometimes the word law is used in the first five books of Moses. Sometimes the word law is used in the Old Covenant. Sometimes it's used in the Ten Commandments. So we have to discern in the context what the word law means. Sometimes it talks about the condemning power of the law. So, verse 18, "...for if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more a promise, but God gave it to Abraham by promise." For what purpose, then, does the Old Covenant serve, is the idea? Well, it was added because of transgressions. That is, he knew that if there wasn't a law and a structure and a government and a nation and a people, the lineage of Jews, both from Abraham and also from the tribe of Judah and also from the tribe of David, would not be preserved. So he provided the law to restrain transgressions, to create national unity, and it is going to be until it says the seed should come. That's Jesus, to whom the promise was made. The promise is the old covenant of the Abrahamic covenant. And it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. So there were two parties. and the mediator with the Old Covenant. So the Old Covenant was never meant to last. Abrahamic Covenant's meant to last. New Covenant's meant to last. But the Old Covenant, no, it was temporary just to hold the fort, if you will, until Jesus showed up. All right, other comments on the passage? Please come now. WB7VZL? WB7VZL. Go ahead, Roger. Roger. Yeah, I don't want to take anybody else's place. Maybe I should ask that right now. Anybody else want to comment? OK. I was listening to NPR discussion on 1A. And I'm doing a kind of a Scott right now. I'm trying to make a parallel between this passage. and what's happening in our culture. They were responding to the court case in which said that the social media on teens that with minds that are underdeveloped, where the emotions are all go, But the frontal lobe, the frontal lobe has not developed, and that's the stop capability. They have taken advantage of this, and so it's all go, and unless Terrans and other schools have put in place a stop regarding their social media addiction, 'cause it's all go, it's all emotions. And the frontal lobe doesn't develop until in your 20s. And that has not been implemented by most homes, especially if they're not biblically based, and if there's no law. And the United States is about the last to put laws around social media companies and age issues regarding the ugliness that comes through social media. And so I'm paralleling between the 430 years of slavery under a totally idolatrous kingdom empire of Egypt. And so these slaves had 430 years of really not...with few isolated cases, like Moses, I'm sure, was taught very carefully to believe, so to speak, from the scriptures. in order that the slaves would have the spiritual and mental capacity to even appreciate the promise that came through Genesis 3:15 and the Noah heritage. But you get my point. I'm just doing a Scott here. Over. Yeah, copy that and well done, Roger. I really appreciate you bringing out that analogy because our passage brings out that analogy. Now, we haven't read it yet, but we're going to read it at the end of this chapter. And that is the picture of national maturity. And so Israel starts out, right, with Abraham, okay? One guy. Ultimately he has Isaac, Isaac has Jacob, Jacob has 12 sons. They go down to Egypt, right? And what's happening in Egypt is for 430 years, roughly, 400, however many years it was, they were down there. They grew into a nation. And so they went from 70 people who went down to Egypt to a couple of million who came out of Egypt. So the first phase of Israel's growing up into national maturity was... being in bondage in Egypt. Well, once they got out of Egypt, then they were given the Old Covenant. And that was to help them grow up as a nation to the next stage. And ultimately, when Israel gained her adulthood, her maturity, the New Covenant was given. And that's what brought them to that final maturity and adulthood as nations. And so this whole idea of a child growing up and not being able to make wise decisions because of their immaturity, as you mentioned, was the case with Israel. Until Messiah came, she didn't have the maturity. that she needed. And so what was the purpose of the law? It was a schoolmaster. It was a tutor. It was a supervisor to keep this wild child contained and controlled until she finally grew up. And then she entered into her adulthood. And so we're going to see that argument developed in the next section. But you're right. This nation needed restraints because it didn't have any of its own. And we see that when they ignored this parental guidance, if you will, this parental restraint of the old covenant, man, did they ever get in trouble. But it was there to keep them from doing stupid things, just like parents are there to keep kids from doing stupid things. like permanently mutilating their bodies or going off into drugs or bad friends or all those things that would destroy them if they didn't have a supervising parent to hold them back and keep them in until they grew up enough to realize how stupid of a choice that would have been. So that's what the old covenant did. with reference to Israel. All right, any other comments, please come down. KJ7PVT. Mark is in there. Mark, KJ7PVT, I forgot you. Please forgive me. Oh, man, I'm a complete airhead. I really fouled up here, folks. Mark yesterday, KJSF PBT, had a comment on the previous passage. He told me that it was going to take too long for him to say it, so he's going to say it today. And I wrote it down here, and I highlighted it, and I even marked it in yellow. And Mark and I had this conversation, and then I forgot. Mark, please forgive me. Mark, please go ahead with your comment. Uh, Max, why don't we have you lay this another day? Okay Mark, I can hear you just fine on the Half Moon Bay SDR. I know you're having trouble hearing me, so I'll let you decide. If you want to wait, that's fine, but please forgive me. I really fouled up here. Over. Oh, no problem, man. Let me give it a shot. It's going to work. Okay. I'm going to give it a shot. Okay. I'm going to give it a shot. Okay. I'm going to give it a shot. Okay. ... Yeah, Mark, I got a real clear copy on you right now on the Half Moon Bay SDR, so everybody can listen to you there. Over, go ahead. Okay, man. Well, this is a bit of a concern to this, where we're at today, of course. This is right up on Chapter 3. So, if you bear with me here, I'm just going to read a couple of the things that I think are important that hold the relation. The needy birds identify the fact that if somebody has led these people astray. I'm just going to read it here, fully related. who has bewitched you, and you should not obey the truth. Before whose eyes Jesus was clearly betrayed, before you saw the same thing right there, that, you know, the gospel was clearly presented In such a way, it could have been a movie, I'll bet. These people heard everything about who Jesus was, everything that he did, and this was made very clear to them. And out of this, they followed Christ. and what I'm seeing here is kind of a typical slide that happens to Christians it happens to me early on, it happens to most people you know there's the there's the time where we accept Christ, there's but there's a, there's a, there is a time where we get involved in other things, and this is kind of what happened. Somebody slipped in there and gave them something else to pay attention to, and they did that, and he's talking about this, and then he goes on to say, having begun in the spirit, Are you now being made perfect by the flesh? What has changed here? They were given the Spirit of God that's identified here, that this was something that happened to them. And so I'm going to kind of paint a picture here. I'm going back to John chapter 3. Of course, John 3.16 is easily remembered. But here Jesus is talking to Nicodemus. And he says, Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and of spirit, he cannot enter. ...the kingdom of God, that which is born of the Holy Spirit, and that which is born of the Spirit, and the Spirit is born of the Holy Spirit. And you know, Mark, what I said, you must be born again. The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit. So he's identifying something here that happened to the Galatians. In fact, this has to happen to all of us in order for us to be saved. We must be born again. And this is the work of the Spirit. And then later on, Jesus, in talking to his disciples, in chapter 15, or I should say chapter 6 of John, says this, Now I am going away to him who has sent me, and none of you ask me where I'm going. I'm going to skip. down here. I'm not going to read all this. The meat of the subject here is I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the spirit, the truth, will not speak of his own authority, but whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will tell you these things to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All things of the Father's hand are mine, and therefore not his. I think there is a gift. So the spirit here is identified by Paul. And I think that the first man to stand in the first place is our King of the Church, the first of the Holy Spirit. I didn't really get that early on. the things of Christ to us. So when we are born again, I know when that happens because family is a gift of God to all of our lives. As Christians, when we finally come to the understanding that what Jesus did for us, that is what we're gonna do. That is brought to us by the Holy Spirit. You can see it's kind of longer on the plan. And he tells us very plainly that the Holy Spirit is the best. And the work of the Holy Spirit is hard to think that that fails the deal. In fact, the Holy Spirit is sealed. And he talks about that in the document in the spring. I'm trying to bring up the scripture for brevity here, but... So we have to picture the process of the work of the Holy Spirit. He goes on to talk about work and miracles, which is basically talking about the power, and Paul talks about the power that is at work in him. And I'm going to pull up one last thing. We're rolling back to the book of Revelation in chapter 2. The very first church that's talked about. It's kind of interesting to me that the first church that talks about this, this thing would happen. to them too. And this is the slide that I'm talking about. He says, the angel of the church of Ephesus. Now you would think that Ephesus would be perfect. These things, says he, holds the seven stars in his right hand, walks in the midst of the seven golden lamps. And I know your work. And he gives them a bow on the head. He gives them a bow on the back. Your labor and your patience and your... you know, those who are evil and you are, you've tested those who say they're apostles and are not. He gives, you know, he is talking to them. This is a good church. And he goes on to say that you have persevered and have patience and have labored. for my name's sake, you have not become weary. Imagine that the never-to-live hand that's in me, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore, where you have fallen, repent and do the first work for help. I will come and take of you, take of you, and I will hold your last name in the place that you repent. With this you ask that you make me to a negative, negative. And then he goes on to say he went here to hear the Spirit of God's presence in the church. And the whole kind of plan here in a nutshell is, yes, this happened to the church in Galatia. Yes, this happened to people. And yes, it happened to the churches this one year. I have a little note on my wall here. It says, listening to what the Holy Spirit has to say for us. There's so much noise that can take away our attention. It takes a little bit of time to make room for quiet, because God whispers and the world is loud. JJ7, BBC 6, Matt, back to you. Yeah, Mark, copy all. Thank you for that. And, yeah, make time for quiet time because God whispers while the world shouts. What a great statement. And, yeah, this slide that happened to the Galatians happened to the Ephesians. We read about that, as you well said, in Revelation 2. And so it's incumbent upon us to guard ourselves against backsliding, against being sluggish. bewitched or drawn away from our former faith and our former walk. So every day we have to maintain that. And Mark pointed out the gift of the Spirit and how the Spirit of God is the one who keeps us close and who preserves us and protects us. He talked about the sealing of the Spirit. And so the point is that sliding back or drawing away from God is something that happens. And so God gives us the Spirit of God not only to save us, John chapter 3, but also to teach us, to lead us, to protect us, John chapter 16. And so we have to check ourselves every day, Mark was saying, to make sure that we're not beginning a decline in our Christian life. And so many have spoken here about the need for their daily quiet time and their time for the closet. And Mark was talking about the fact that we have to make time for quiet time because God whispers while the world shouts. And so we've got to set aside that time every day for God. So Mark, thank you for that great comment. And once again, I apologize for forgetting the promise I made to you at the beginning. beginning of the net. Okay, any final comments or prayer requests anybody wants to make before we go to prayer, please come down to call on. How's that X-ray going, Kevin? Yeah, just very good discussion. I appreciate your comments, Mark. I was able to catch most of it there. And this is an important study. And Paul unpacked more of this as he goes forward here to the role of the law. And Paul, to make the point, really, You know, the perspective of the Judaizers and their perspective of their position before God and following these rules, if you will, of the law really is spiritual immaturity. You know, our relationship has changed positionally. The three barriers that were big barriers at the time and still can be today, one is ethnicity. And, you know, the Galatian churches predominantly Greeks and some Romans and maybe a few Jews as well, the church throughout Galatia. But there was the ethnic barriers. And, of course, you know, the Judaizers' perspective as well, you know, you have to really become Jew, you know, it's faith plus, but you know, preaching Jesus is fine, but you really still need to become Jew. And you need to follow these laws, these dietary laws, the ceremonial laws, but you know, when the gospel is preached to them and they work, practicing living in faith and honoring Christ. You know, churches, they weren't keeping the Sabbath. They weren't keeping the dietary laws. And so these Judaizers are going to say, well, this is needed. You need the law, too. Well, Paul makes that clear, no. The law had a purpose. But it's, as you pointed out, it's like children need laws. You know, it's an old... you know, break out of the toilet or put things up their nose or whatever. But, you know, our relationship, and Paul goes into this, going into this chapter in 4, that we are now not separated by our ethnic barriers. We're not separated by social or economic barriers. And we're not separated by even our gender barriers as far as our relationship is. to God, we can now call God the Father, Father or Abba. And that is made possible because of the work of Christ. And that makes us brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus even used the word Adolfo. And that's, you know, from the same womb. We are brothers and sisters in Christ, and he'll go on and talk about the, um, the teaching of adoption here going forward too. So our relationship with God has changed in Christ because of the work He did. And yes, it's all done through the work of the Spirit, the transformation that takes place. The walk, the sanctification that takes place, and ultimately the glorification that will take place is because of the gift of the Spirit. So what good calm is throughout that today? KB7, is that a cap? Yeah, you know, God gave us two gifts. He gave us the gift of the Son, and then He gave us the gift of the Spirit, both of which are essential for us being saved and being preserved in our salvation. So, Kevin, thank you for that, and Mark, thank you for your comments also. Let's make time for quiet time because God whispers while the world shouts. Mark, thank you for that. All right, this is WB7MX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. It is time for us to go to prayer, and so let's turn to the Lord. And are there any final prayer requests before I lead in prayer? Go ahead. All right, hearing nothing, let's go to the Lord in prayer. for all of the fruit that flows out of it, clear up to and including Christ and the eternal state that we enjoy with you in the new earth. And so, Lord, we're grateful that we can understand these covenants. The Abrahamic covenant brought us salvation, and the old covenant preserved the nation until the Savior should show up. And so, Father, we're grateful that Christ has come and that we're no longer under the old covenant, but now under the new, And, Lord, we're grateful for the liberty we have. We're grateful for the guidance that is provided. We're grateful especially, Father, for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who keeps us close and keeps us discerning so that we're not drawn away by those who would strive to, with cutting craftiness, draw us away from Christ to another gospel or to some other object of trust besides Him. Jesus Christ. Father, we just pray that you would give us the illumination of the Spirit, so that as we read these passages, we would understand them. Father, thank you that our salvation doesn't depend on us. And so you made this unilateral covenant with the Abraham and, of course, the unilateral covenant, the new covenant with and through Jesus Christ. And so thank you, Father, that salvation is of the Lord. Lord, we pray that as we read what Paul says about the gospel and about what it is and what it isn't, that we would have wisdom and discernment to be able to embrace the truth and reject error. Now, Lord, we just want to pray today for our dear brother, George, K2KJX. His wife, Sue, has a swollen thyroid gland. Went to the doctor yesterday, and they're talking about removing it. Lord, I just pray for a miracle here. I pray that you would heal Sue's thyroid. Lord, whatever is causing that swelling would be remedied. But, Lord, if it's your will for it to be removed, just give wisdom in managing all the hormonal replacements that need to be achieved. Father, we just ask that you would have mercy on George and especially on Sue and that this thyroid issue would be healed by you. Lord, we also want to pray for George's son, Tommy, that you would help him and his wife be able to find housing. And, Lord, just open a door for them. Father, we want to pray today for Sandy, W7SAB. Lord, she is having hip surgery right now. as I understand it. And so we just pray for Beck and Sandy that you would give them the peace that passes all understanding. We pray for the surgeon that you would give them extraordinary skill and wisdom, help them to make right decisions and to take right action in the opening and the replacement and the closings. Father, may Sandy know full mobility and freedom to walk as a result of this hip replacement. Give them a safe journey over and back. And Lord, just have mercy on them. Father, our brother Jeff at K6OK, his wife Patty, is having cataract surgery this Friday. day after tomorrow. So Father, I just pray that you would be pleased to cause that surgery to go really well. May she have clarity of vision in this eye as well as the other. And Lord, I just pray that there would be a perfect procedure accomplished there. Father Al, KJ7QQH, his wife Jerry, is having eye surgery right now. It's going to start at 7. It's 6.48 roughly now. So, Father, I just pray that Jerry would have successful eye surgery, whatever that is. I'm not sure if it's a cataract or whatever, but, Lord, may her sight be fully restored. Lord, we just want to give you praise for our brother, Bert W7RKD, that his insomnia has been cured. He got eight hours of straight sleep last night. And so, Father, we're so grateful for that and for the way you answered prayer for him. Lord, we just pray for others on the net who struggle with insomnia. Lord, that you would help them to have good sleep. and memorable for those who are taking the class. Thank you, Father, for Will's willingness to share his knowledge with others. And Lord, I pray your hand of blessing would be on him. May he have good connection and communication with all the students. And Father, may they absorb the material and then be able to pass it on to others as well. Father, we just pray for our dear sister, Dailene, Roger WB7V's wife. Lord, I just pray that her radiation treatment would be effective in eradicating any remaining cancer. And Lord, we just pray that she would know physical strength, freedom from side effects, and Father, ultimate deliverance out the other side, cancer-free and able to carry on with her life. Lord, give her physical strength. And Lord, I just pray that she would keep her faith and trust in you. And Father, may she look past this circumstance to the glories that lie ahead and be patient in the midst. Father, we thank you for our dear brother Brian, KJ7PWM, who is having baby lambs and baby goats. And Lord, thank you for the good news of some safe deliveries this morning. And Lord, Brian is weary from staying up all night and all day doing this lambing and having these baby goats, as well as running his business and all the other things that are going on. Father, just give Brian strength. Give him fruitful flock. And Father, we pray that your good hand of blessing would be on the farm. And Father, that he might flourish like Jacob did as he was taking care of Laban's flock. Father, we just pray today for our brother Steve, W6YSI, and his daughter, Elisa Medina. Father, we pray for upper back and neck pain. We pray, Lord, that you would bless her work at this Pregnancy Crisis Center. And, Lord, we ask that many babies would be saved as a result of her ministry. May her pain not hinder her ability to minister to these pregnant young girls. Father, our hearts are broken for Howie at 6J. Father, his sister Karen died at 70. She had leukemia and it seemed like she had beaten it, but then when she had the bone marrow replacement, she got an infection and wasn't able to overcome it. And so Lord, I just pray that you would comfort Howie and the family. Father, it's not clear at all that Karen was saved, but Lord, you know. And so, Lord, I just pray that Howie and the rest would just be able to trust Karen into your hands and know that the judge of all the earth will do right. Father, give them peace. Father, I just continue to pray for Tisha, that she would be saved. spiritually and physically that you would provide her with a liver transplant if she needs it. Sure, Lord, I've heard that her liver has improved somewhat and so she's moved down on the list, but Lord, in any event, we're way more concerned about her salvation than we are about her liver transplant. So, Father, work grace in her heart, draw her to yourself, humble her under her sins, bring her under conviction, and cause her to flee to Christ. Father, we just pray today for our dear brother, Glenn, KJ7UMW, and his wife, Vicki. And Father, for their deliverance from the chronic pain that each of them have for the various maladies that they're afflicted with. Father, just cause them to draw close to each other, to draw close to you, and Father, may they know your mercy. Father, we just continue to pray for Ed, and 6XOH's niece, Ruth, and her three children, Macy and Mika and McKee. Father, address and heal the health problems that each of them have. Father, I pray for Thomas, that he might do well in the military, reserves, and with the job training he's receiving. Father, I just ask that the family would just draw together around Jesus. Lord, we pray once again for our brother Eldon, KF7FIA, that you would heal him of his back pain. Have mercy on him, Father, and may he be able to get through today praising you for your goodness to him. Lord, we just got a great report from JRW6LBT about Gary. W6GLB, who has stage 4 cancer, the immunotherapy is working fantastic. So Lord, we thank you for that. And Lord, I just pray that Gary would know complete deliverance from his cancer. Thank you, Father, that the treatment seems to be working really, really well. Lord, we just continue to pray for Mike W7TWO, his sister Barbara. Father, she needs salvation. Father, she has witnessed the death of one of her sons. And Lord, cause her to reflect on the fact that she needs to be prepared for her own death. And Lord, I pray that she would humble down, that she would repent, and that she would submit herself to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. And Father, may the rebellion be removed, may the self-will be removed, and Father, may humility replace it all. And now, Lord, we just want to thank you for your goodness and your mercy and your grace to each one of us, and for the gift of this son, Jesus Christ. And Father, be pleased to enable us to be a burning and shining light in the midst of this crooked and perverse generation among whom we live. And Father, as Mark exhorted us today, may we walk in the Spirit so that we would not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. We ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, this is WB7MX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. I want to thank all the stations who checked in today and those who stood by to give us a clear operating frequency. We meet here seven days a week at 6 a.m. in order to read the Scriptures. understand their meaning, message, and application, and then to pray for grace and mercy, to live out what we learn, and for God to meet the needs of those that are in our circle of fellowship. I'll be returning this frequency now to regular amateur use. This is WB7MAX, and I will be clear and standing by. Thank you, Max, for your intercessory prayer for us. and the intensity. Thank you very much for you being called to the priesthood of all believers. We praise the Lord. Thank you for the discussion today. And I wish I would have heard Mark. I got the bottom line. Thank you for summarizing Mark's emphasis, but oh my Yeah, after that NPR presentation from people who are brain specialists and it was a perversive -- the degeneracy that comes through that is just shocking. Even the tech company kids don't -- they don't want their kids to be sucked into it. Isn't that amazing? Yeah, for sure. Social media is a nightmare for children to be involved in. You know, the Internet came along in about 1992. And, of course, I'm raising my kids. And, you know, social media was, you know, beginning. There was something called MySpace back in the day. in different social media sites. I didn't let my kids even get on the internet until they were 18. And the reason is exactly what you're saying. Their brains are unformed, their characters are unformed. They are not able to make sound judgments about things. And so you have to be very careful about what you allow them to be exposed to. And I think the worst thing a parent can do is get their child a smartphone. Keep them off the screen, keep them off the phone, keep them off of social media. Let them grow up and be kids and build forts and play out in the street. We used to play baseball on the street, of course, residential neighborhood, right? Cars would come and say, "Card!" We'd all run to the side, card go by, we'd go back out and play. And that was my childhood and I'm so grateful for that. So, yeah, Roger, social media is a tool of Satan to draw children into a false world, a false set of values, and into very wicked and immoral behavior. And we need to protect our children from it. Back to you there, Roger. Yeah, yeah. The frontal lobe is the brake for the go in all of our youth. We remember that. And thanks for the great... And it's not developed yet. It's not formed. There's stages of life. And as you say, the front lobe is the brake for the go. wise, very wise counsel. And no wonder Moses says, you know, in Deuteronomy 6 and 8, you know, walk with your kids and have the word of God prominent for them because they're still in formation. But yeah, thank you for the description of how we grew up, Max. Growing up where we could play games, and sometimes it was the street if it wasn't well-traveled. So, yeah, thanks for bringing back some good memories. Appreciate that. WB-7, Visa Dome. Talk to you tomorrow. Looking forward to tomorrow. Bye-bye. Okay, Roger, you can't leave yet because we've got another joke of the day. But before that, the net wants to acknowledge Carol, KK7TPO. Carol, I see you there on the Utah SDR, and we got you checked in, girl. Thank you for being there with us. All right, so Beck and Sandy are at the hospital, right? And so Beck last night sends me a text saying, And he says, "This is for tomorrow." Now, here's the joke, all right? What did the shark say after eating the clownfish? Wow, no idea. That tasted funny. Okay, there you go. That's a good one. That's a good one. All right. Well, you can thank Beck for that one. He texted that to me. He's looking out for you guys. He knows you're not going to be able to survive the day if you don't have the joke of the day. So he sent that to me. He said, "We have to be in Springfield to check in at 5:15 a.m." So they've been there a while, and I know that Sandy is probably in surgery now. Anyway, continue to uphold Sandy, W7SAB and her need for God's guidance for the surgery. All right. Any other comments before we go? Please come now. Yeah, I didn't hear the answer. Oh, you didn't hear the answer? Okay. So the question was, what did the shark say after eating the clownfish? And what he said is, "That tasted funny." So Kevin got it, huh? Yeah, yeah, he did. Okay, see, because you didn't repeat what Kevin said, and so I was in the dark, Oh, I'm sorry. Okay. Anyway, we got it. Okay, real good. We'll let you go, Roger. A 7-3 to you and give Daylene a giant hug from all of us here on the West Coast Bible Study. And we just will continue to uphold her and you in prayer, and we'll see you tomorrow. God bless, brother. Yeah, copy that. Okay, I thought I heard a voice out there, not sure who that was. So, let's try again. Okay, I think that's mark KG7 PVT, but Mark, you're pretty much gone. I think the band has gone to pieces on it. So, if you want to try, go ahead there, Mark. Thank you. This is WB7MX, I'll be clearing to RT Thank you. you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you
