### Bible Study Summary: Galatians 2:1-10

#### Overview and Context

The Bible study session centered on Galatians 2:1-10, a passage that delves into the life of the Apostle Paul and his interactions with key figures in the early Christian church. This passage is rich with themes of transformation, reconciliation, and the defense of the gospel. The group engaged in a detailed discussion, reflecting on these themes and their relevance to contemporary Christian life.

#### Transformation and Reconciliation

The passage opens with Paul recounting his visit to Jerusalem to meet with the apostles, particularly Peter, James, and John. Paul, who was once a persecutor of Christians, had undergone a profound transformation after his encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus. This transformation from an enemy of the faith to a devoted follower and apostle is a powerful testament to the redemptive power of Christ. The group discussed how Paul's reconciliation with the apostles, who initially doubted his conversion, mirrors the process of reconciliation within the Christian community. This theme of transformation and reconciliation is crucial for understanding the early church's dynamics and can serve as a model for overcoming divisions within the church today.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How does Paul's transformation from persecutor to apostle inspire you in your faith journey?
- In what ways can we foster reconciliation within our own communities, especially where there are deep-seated disagreements or prejudices?

#### Humility and Sin

The passage also highlights the importance of humility, particularly in the context of Peter's and Paul's respective falls. Peter's initial hesitation to eat with Gentiles and Paul's subsequent correction of him underscore the importance of humility in recognizing and addressing sin. The group reflected on how humility can prevent us from becoming complacent in our faith and blind to our own shortcomings. This theme of humility is essential for maintaining a healthy spiritual life and fostering a community that is open to correction and growth.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How can we cultivate humility in our daily lives and within our communities?
- What are some practical steps we can take to recognize and address our own sins?

#### Gospel Defense

A significant portion of the discussion revolved around the defense of the gospel message. The group noted Paul's steadfast commitment to the gospel, particularly in his opposition to the idea that circumcision was necessary for salvation. This defense of the gospel message against additions like circumcision is a reminder of the importance of adhering strictly to the core message of salvation through faith in Christ alone. The group discussed how this principle applies to contemporary issues where the gospel message might be diluted or compromised by human traditions or legalistic practices.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How can we ensure that we are not adding unnecessary requirements to the gospel message?
- What are some contemporary examples of legalism or human traditions that might detract from the simplicity of the gospel?

#### Prayer and Community

The session concluded with a variety of prayer requests, reflecting the diverse needs and concerns of the group. From health issues to housing needs, the group demonstrated a strong sense of community and mutual support. The importance of prayer was emphasized, not only for addressing personal needs but also for fostering a spirit of unity and care within the group.

**Discussion Questions:**
- How can we better support one another in prayer and action?
- What are some ways we can strengthen our community and ensure that no one feels isolated or forgotten?

#### Closing Thoughts

The Bible study session provided a rich opportunity for reflection and discussion on key themes from Galatians 2:1-10. The themes of transformation, reconciliation, humility, and the defense of the gospel message are not only historically significant but also deeply relevant to contemporary Christian life. As the group moves forward, they will continue to explore these themes and apply them to their lives, fostering a community that is grounded in faith, humility, and mutual support.

**Next Steps:**
- The group plans to continue their study of Acts 15 in the next session, focusing on the Jerusalem Council and its implications for the early church and contemporary Christian communities.
- Participants were encouraged to reflect on the themes discussed and to seek ways to apply these principles in their daily lives and communities.

They will. Alright, any other check-ins this morning? Please come down to your call sign. KE7WKI. Alright, good morning David, KE7WKI. Good copy on your voice. How you doing brother? Doing great. Just waking up and set the alarm just for the call in. I appreciate that. I have to set an alarm to run the net. By nature, Dave, I am not a morning person. And so the alarm is what has gotten me up all of my life, and it's what continues to get me up now. So, Dave, thanks for setting your alarm so that you can join us. We always appreciate your fellowship and you being here. Any prior requests there, Dave? No, apparently not. All right, copy that. All right, we've got Dave checked in. K-E-7-W-K-I. Any other check-ins, please come down. Hey, L-7-K-G. Lee, L-7-K-G, good to have you back, brother. How was the trip down there to the camp and all the work you did? Oh, that was just pretty perfect. That was really good. Safe driving and good fellowship and working and prayer, eating and visiting and Good night. Well, praise the Lord for that. We prayed for you while you were down there and trusted that the Lord would give you wisdom and grace in the work you did and the fellowship you had. And it sounds like the Lord answered that prayer. So, Lee, we are really glad for you and appreciate your check-in and the fact that you're back home safe. All right, that is Lee, AL7KG. Any other check-ins, please come down. All right. *train noise* All right, I see that Keith K7NEB joined us on the Utah SDR. Good morning, Keith K7NEB. Are you on your radio? Please come back to me. All right, we've got Keith down as a listener. K7NEB, Keith, you're checked in by way of... of the Utah SDR. Thank you for being there. Okay, give me a second here to look at a text message. I'll be right back with you. Yeah, copy that, George. George says, "I wake up at 5:00 a.m. whether I like it or not." He goes to bed at 9:00. Well, that's good, George. You know, early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's what I was always told, but I'm not sure if I believe that or not. But that's the logic, so good for you. All right, so I have a text message from Jeff AK6OK. Jeff is listening in from Charlotte, North Carolina, this morning. Jeff, we've been praying for you about your trip. In fact, we got you on the prayer list today for your meetings with the Billy Graham Association folks and others as well. So thank you for checking in by way of text message, Jeff at K6OK, and we're praying for your journey and for its blessing and for its success. All right, I also got a text message here from Keith, K7NEV. He says, can't hear you today, band is poor for me. Understand that, Keith, it's poor for everybody. and we are going to just carry on and do the best we can. Hopefully it will improve a little bit over time. So anyway, that's my text messages, and I will get back to the radio now. Anybody else want to check in, please come down. WB7VZL, good morning. And good morning, Roger. WB7VZL, how are you doing? Better than I deserve. Copy that. Yeah, the band is really workable today. Yeah, it's pretty poor. I can hear you. I can hear pretty well between the Utah SDR and my radio. I'm picking everybody up and able to listen to what they're saying, and I can hear you just fine. A little noisy, but I can hear you just fine. So anyway, we're praying that Autumn will find a new place to live, and we're praying for Daylene for her radiation treatment. Has she gotten the first one yet, Roger? Yeah. So just the measuring, it's all calibrated, ready to go next week. Yeah, copy that. Yeah, they've got to tattoo those dots on and make sure everything is all aligned every time. So I've been down that road, and I can see her in there. So anyway, God's blessing on both of you, and may the healing process proceed. So anyway, let us know when that actually gets started, and we will be praying for her constantly. Thank you, Roger, for that. All right, any other check-ins, please come down. All right. Is that extent? Is that extent? Go ahead. I just want to let you know, Max, I'm going to have to cut out a little early today, and so I won't be as active and engaged in the conversation today, but that'll be why. And Roger, we're so afraid for you and Daley. There's tippy-summons, is that extent? Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, copy that, Kevin. I'm going to have you open a prayer for us today when the time comes. So I understand you have it early out, and copy that. Okay, let me respond to this text message. I'll be right back with you. All right, WB7MAX back with you. Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. We are going to get started with our Bible study. We are in Galatians chapter 2. And we're going to be looking at verses 1 to 10, Galatians chapter 2, verses 1 to 10. And Al, KJ7QQH, I'm going to ask you to read that section, if you would. So, Al, if you could be looking at that, Galatians 2, 1 to 10. And, of course, Kevin's going to pray for us. But before any of that happens, I want to just talk a little bit about the passage that we are getting into. And it's really an extension of the passage we were looking at yesterday, because yesterday we saw... that Paul was once again having to defend the credibility of his apostleship, and thus the authority and the inerrancy and accuracy of what he was saying in his writings and in his teachings. And so it's the case that true ministers of the gospel are under constant attack from Satan through people in order to try to get people to turn away from them and listen to the false teachers. And that was the case in 2 Corinthians, as we saw. That's the case here in Galatians. And so often in Paul's epistles, he's having to fend off the false accusers who are trying to undermine his credibility and thus his message. So he talked about when he got saved. He talked about how he received the revelation that he had, and the fact that he didn't learn his theology from the other Apostles, but rather he learned it directly from Jesus Christ during those three years that he was in Arabia, as we saw in Chapter 1. Well, here he is in Chapter 2 showing up to the Jerusalem Council, and this is 14 years later, and interacting with the other Apostles. And he declares how that he was accepted as an equal with the other apostles. So they saw him as being one of them, as having all the credibility, authority, and office that they possessed. And they gave him the right hand of fellowship, recognizing Christ's not only saving work in his life, but also calling him to this office. And we see Peter, for example, endorsing Paul as a true teacher of God's revelation in 2 Peter 3, when he talks about our beloved brother Paul who has written many things, some of which are hard to be understood, but nevertheless, they are congruent with the teaching of all the other apostles. So that's our background and the passage we're going to be looking at. But before we get started, we want to open in prayer. And so, Kevin, KB7 Zedekson, could you open in prayer for us today, please? A very good minute, Mal. Thank you. our most gracious and loving Heavenly Father, we do thank you for this time that we have to assemble together here to look into your word, Lord, to contemplate the revelations given to Paul and the other apostles there. And Father, we just thank you so very much for the love and the care that you... have directed toward each of us, Lord, as we lift up the prayer request today and the needs of others and our loved ones and colleagues as well. Lord, we just pray that you administer to every need according to that will with mercy and peace. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Thank you so much for that, Kevin. Really appreciate the prayer. The net would like to acknowledge Keith WB7RKR, Keith, good morning. Good to have you with us. Appreciate you being there. And we continue to pray for your health needs and also the needs of your wife, Ronnie. All right. We also got K7GWR. That's Gene. Gene, see you there on Utah SDR. So we got Keith and Gene checked in off of Utah. And I'll be looking at that as time goes on. Okay, let's get started with our Bible reading. And Al, KJ7QQH, if you could read for us, please, Galatians chapter 2, verses 1 through 10. Go ahead. Thank you, Pastor Max. This is KJ7QQH. I'll be reading from the Bible, B-N-A-S-B, Galatians 2, verse 1. Then after a interval of 14 years, I went up again to Jerusalem and put barclays. taking Isaac along also. It was by tells of revelation that I went out, and I submitted to them the gospel which I bring you among the Gentiles, but I did so in private to those who were of reputation, for fear that somehow I might be run, or had run in vain. But not even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. Yet it was a concern because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy on our freedom, which... we have in Jesus Christ, in order to enslave us. But we did not yield in subjection to them, even for an hour, so that truth of the gospel would remain with you. But from those who were of considerable rebuke, What they were makes no difference to me. God shows no favor to them. Well, those who were of repute contributed nothing to me. But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncertain side, as just as Peter had been to the circumcised. For he was at work for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised, was at work for me also to the Gentiles, and recognizing the grace that had been given to me James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be philarchs, gave to me and Barnabas the right to use a fellowship, so that we might go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. They only asked us to remember the poor, the very things. I will see you soon. And that brings us to verse 11. AJ, that's the Q2H back to you, Pastor. All right, real good reading there, Al. Thank you for that. Okay, any comments on this section, please come down to your call sign. WB7, he's at Al. Roger, WB7, he's at Al. Go ahead. I am just so impressed this morning with the hands across the gulch, or the, the gulch, the chasm, the, the canyon that is expressed here. Over. Well, you know, that is so true because, I mean, here is a guy who used to viciously persecute the church who was responsible for the stoning of Stephen. the first martyr of the church there in Acts chapter 7, and who was trying to do everything he could to destroy the Christian faith. And now here this guy's gotten saved, and he hasn't just gotten saved, he's an apostle! And so here he comes up to Peter and James and John, who were the pillars of the church. I mean, these guys were like the apostles from the beginning. And here's this new boy on the block showing up. And yet, they have this conference. He mentions it here in verse 2. He says, "I went up by revelation and communicated unto them the gospel, which I preached among the Gentiles. But I communicated it privately to those who have reputation." That's Peter and James and John here. "Lest by any means I should run a hard run in vain." What they're saying is, no, you're preaching the same gospel we are. And so to take someone who was formerly a bitter enemy, and now he becomes a co-laborer with full acceptance and equality, Roger, you are right. That was a chasm. And yet it's the nature of Christianity that it brings about reconciliation. between people who formerly were enemies by way of conversion and by way of agreement on the content of the gospel and the necessity of preaching it. So, Roger, thank you for that observation. Any other comments, please come down. Go ahead, Kevin. Go ahead, Kevin. You know, that's exactly right. I always, and it especially reminds me how oftentimes I think of Paul out there sharing his testimony. And because he had to defend himself over and over again. Probably any opportunity he had, if he was on a ship with someone or came through the Roman guard under house arrest or whatever he was. I'm sure. He said, hey, let me tell you about the time I was on my way to Damascus. Because salvation is transformational in the first place. But if anyone, one of the points I mean, he always had the market cornered on. Of anyone that could have added the law intellectually. He was so fervent for the law that he was doing all he could to stamp out the way as they called it then to stamp out the large churches until he was transformed and saved. And if anyone was to hang on to some of the law it would have been Paul. But Paul understood, one, by his own very experience, but two, by the revelation of Christ, that grace is sufficient. Just as we read about before when Paul prayed about his thorn in the flesh, well, even more so regarding salvation. God's grace is sufficient. The work of Christ is sufficient. And I think that's what's one of the more powerful elements of Paul's. establishing that salvation is by grace through faith alone and why he emphasizes it so much. Here's one coming out of one that was learned and passionate about the law. Yeah, he recognizes it's at its place and as he shares many places, it did its work and it does its work, but it's not in salvation. KB7 is an example. Yeah, amen. You know, it says if any man be in Christ, he's a new creation. The old things pass away and all things become new. And you can really see the truth of that in the life and example of the Apostle Paul. And, you know, that's one of the reasons why we know that the Bible is true and that God is real and that Christ's redemption is a genuine event. is because of the effect, the transformative effect it has on people. And, you know, it's not just Paul, of course. We all have witnessed people in our own lives, how well we know who we used to be and who we now are. And there's nothing that can explain that transformation other than a radical regeneration. that removed our old disposition, our old nature. The Bible calls it the heart of stone and replaced it with the heart of flesh. And our complete orientation changes when we get saved. Whereas before we loved sin and hated God, now we love God and we hate sin. And there's a reversal of choices. There's a change of friends that we have. There's a complete new message that we now communicate, and there's a new moral behavior that we engage in. This business of salvation changes every area of our lives so that we can truly be said to be people who are born again, people who are resurrected from the dead, people who are new creations. All of that is illustrated. in the life of Paul and in the life of millions of other people around the world and people that we know personally and in our own lives. I look at myself. Who was I before I was saved, and who am I now after I was saved? That was a supernatural transformation. It wasn't just a personal moral reformation where I decided one day I'm just going to be a better person. No, that was a divine surgery in the operating room in which the old nature was taken out and we were given a new nature. So, Kevin, thank you for that. And Roger, too, this transformative work that God does is a miracle. People say, well, you know, there's no miracles today. The miracle is when somebody gets saved and you see that divine transformation. That's amazing. All right. Any other comments, please come down to your call site. That would be 7VZL. Roger. Please go ahead. Okay. Well, I love this portion that the two most prominent people are basically saying in verse 8, for he who effectually worked for Peter in his apostleship. I think one has put it, the greatest... evidence of the resurrection of Christ is the affirmation after Peter's denial of Jesus and that the church brought him back into this prominence that we see in verse 8. And it's only after the work of humility, absolute humility, that we can see that Jesus is the foundational self gone and total humiliation spiritually, bringing about a humility. And that happened to Paul on the way to Damascus, total humility, on the ground blind, And Peter denying Jesus, and here we see these spiritual giants with only humility, that they're willing to work together for the sake of Jesus. I mean, that's what I see here, and of course, everybody sees it here. You can't miss it, over. Yeah, amen. Well said, Roger. You know, Paul had to be greatly humble in realizing he was completely wrong about the way he was living, about what he was believing, and the whole foundation of his relationship with God. And, of course, as you well said, Peter had to go through that profound humility of confessing his betrayal of Christ. And, of course, we know that Christ restored him when he met him along the shore of the Sea of Galilee in his resurrected body and said to Peter, Feed my sheep, feed my sheep, feed my sheep. What a restoration that was from the fall that Peter had. And so, you know, as we go through the Christian life, we have tremendous falls at times. And yet those provide the foundation for a level of humility and a level of self-distrust that then allows the power of God to flow innocent through us, and we are better able to bring glory to God from that platform of humility as we see our own failures, and yet we see the triumph of Jesus. over those failures. And so where sin abounds, grace is much more abound. And what a blessing it is to know that no matter how bad we've been and how far we've fallen, whether as unbelievers like Saul of Tarsus or as believers like Peter, there is forgiveness, there is restoration. and there is usefulness yet in the future provided that we do repent, we do humble ourselves before the Lord and the Bible says that God gives grace to the humble and that's the good news. So the lower we go in our own estimation, the more God is able to use us and to teach us for His glory and for the advance of His kingdom. So, Roger, thank you for pointing that out. All right, other comments, please come down. K2KJX. George, K2KJX, go ahead. Yeah, before I was a believer in the saving grace of the Lord Jesus, my sin didn't matter. It didn't affect me at all. And I just went on my merry way, doing whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. And the day that I asked Jesus to come into my heart, and saved me, it changed my whole perspective on sin. And it is my whole life as an adult, it's the conviction of sinning is what keeps me knowing, I think in my mind, it keeps me knowing that he has saved me and gave me this new life. Yeah, amen. And that's exactly, George, how you know that you are saved is that you are not comfortable in your sins. You used to be comfortable in your sins. But once you've gotten that new nature, you can't stand it anymore. And it's not that you don't commit sin as a believer, but it is that you're never comfortable there, you're never happy there, and it's not very long before you've got to repent and get right with the Lord. And that is the mark of someone with a regenerate heart, is that our whole orientation towards sin changes. And Paul talks about that in Romans chapter 7, right? He says, the things I don't want to do, sometimes I do those, but I hate it. And then he says, you know, I really want to serve Christ, and I really want to follow him. I'm imperfect in doing it, but that's where I'm at. So, George, what you are describing is the nature of true conversion, is that your conscience is awakened and your heart is renewed so that now, whereas before you loved sin and hated righteousness, now you hate sin and you love righteousness. So that is exactly what happens in every believer, is they just become reoriented in their attitude towards God and in their attitude towards sin, and that's what keeps you going, because you have that new nature, and you can't go on and sin. It's impossible to do, because it says in... in 1 John chapter 3, that when we're born of God, we cannot continue on in sin. And so that's what you're experiencing in your feelings, in your conscience, in your heart. And that's what's manifesting the fact that you are a saved man and that you have that new nature. All right. Good comment, George. Anything else you want to say? Go ahead. No, nothing else. It just popped into my mind when we started talking about Peter and Paul, both on some different perceptions of this race. But anyway, nothing else to add. Thank you, KCJJ. All right, George, real good. Great comment. Thank you for that. All right, any other comments, please come down. All right, well, I'll chatter away here a little bit. The event that is in view here in Galatians chapter 2 is recorded in Acts chapter 15. And I think what we'll do tomorrow is we'll actually look at Acts chapter 15 because it's so woven into what is being said here in Galatians chapter 2. And what he's referring to here is that Jerusalem Council meeting. And what happened there is there were people who were preaching another gospel. You remember back in chapter 1, it said specifically, "If any man preach any other gospel unto you, and that you have received, or that which we preach," he says, "let him be accursed." So what's at stake here is the very essence of the gospel. And there were people coming with another gospel. And that was the gospel that says you have to be circumcised in order to be saved. And it's like people saying you have to be baptized in order to be saved. People always want to add something to the gospel. And so what we have here in this section is debate. Do you need to be circumcised to be saved or not? And, of course, the answer is no. You don't have to be circumcised in order to be saved. And that was the issue of debate. And so it says in verse 4, And that because the false brethren, unawares, brought in, who came in privately to spy out our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us under bondage to whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour. Here it is in verse 5, that the truth of the gospel might continue. And so the gospel is always under assault. People want to add to it or they want to take away from it. And so we need to be very clear about what the gospel is, and then we need to defend it tooth and nail and not yield one inch. Because once we've lost the gospel, we've lost the ability to be saved and to be reconciled to God. And so if people are trusting in something more... than what the gospel demands, then that's legalism. If people are trusting in something less than what the gospel demands, then that is humanism. And so what we need to do is ask ourselves, what does the Bible say and what does it mean when it sits before us, these passages that describe the nature of salvation and what is required for it? And that was the big debate that was going on here in Acts chapter 15, which is the point of discussion here in Galatians chapter 2. Paul's referring to this event. And not only is he referring to the event, but especially to the event in light of how he was viewed by the other Apostles and how the gospel he was preaching was viewed by the other Apostles. And so that was what was at debate here, and it was all over this issue of what is the gospel. And we talked about that a couple of days ago, and we're going to continue to talk about it because Paul's going to take this subject up over and over again in the book of Galatians because the whole book is a defense of the biblical gospel in opposition to those who would add to it and those who would take away from it. Because if we don't get the gospel right, we don't get to go to heaven. Okay? It's a serious business. I think R.C. Sproul wrote a book where it's called Getting the Gospel Right. I have it on my shelf. And it's important that we not fall into errors on the right hand or on the left. So, anyway, that's what's going on here. All right, other comments? Roger, please go ahead. Well, yeah, in Verse 2, I can just imagine that they had to make sure that all the smartphones were turned in because it was a private meeting in Verse 2. But I did so in private to those who were of reputation. for fear that I might be running or had run in vain. So these Judaizers were very interested in listening in, obviously, and provide the next rally of criticism, next barrage. And then in verse 3, You know, Titus is the test case, not even Titus who was with me, nor he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. So, yeah, and of course, as you said in verse 4, the false brethren. But this is huge. And I also find fascinating that we're going to look at Acts 15 because... You know, Peter uses an angel very powerfully in Acts 15. And Paul, here in the first chapter, highlights not even an angel from heaven. That could be somewhat of a reference to Peter's testimony in Acts 15. I've just never seen that before, Max, but it's a fascinating tour, over. Yeah, that's an interesting connection. I'll certainly look into that. But the point that Paul was making here is that, you know, the truth of the gospel is not to be modified by anyone. Even if an angel showed up and offered a different gospel, then you would know that that was an angel of light or a demon masquerading as an angel of light. And so, you know, there's some things in the Bible that are up for debate, right? Like eschatology. Okay, fine. We all know Jesus is coming back. Some people are premillennial. Some people are all millennial. Some people are postmillennial. You know, that's not going to determine whether somebody goes to heaven or not. And we can agree to disagree on those things with goodwill. And we can accommodate one another as brethren with reference to all sorts of secondary and tertiary issues of theology, right? But when it comes to the gospel, there's no wiggle room at all, okay? And so that's why when the issue of the gospel comes up, that's when we have to stand to it and say, no, we're not going to agree to disagree. This is what the gospel is, and anything else other than that is heresies. And so that's what was going on here at the Jerusalem Council. That's what was going on here in Galatians chapter 1 and chapter 2. Because you recall back in chapter 1 of Galatians, he says in verse 6, Galatians 1, 6, I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ. unto another gospel. Verse 7, which is not another. That is, there aren't two gospels. There's just one. But there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ. And of course, we see what that perversion was in the case of Acts chapter 15. And the perversion was, you have to be circumcised. Plus, have repentance and faith in Jesus. And so it was Christ plus gospel. Christ plus circumcision. And so this is a matter that we can't agree to disagree on. Either we have a true gospel or we don't. And the terms of that gospel are very clear. Revenge of sin, faith in Jesus Christ as Savior from sin, plus nothing. And so, Roger, that's what's going on here. And I think it's really important that we recognize the seriousness of how Paul took this seriously, Peter, James, and John took it seriously. They had a big discussion about what the terms of the gospel were. And the conclusion that was drawn is that circumcision is not part of the gospel. And that's why Paul says, Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel in 1 Corinthians 1, because baptism is not part of the gospel. When people try to include it as part of the gospel, it becomes another gospel. All right, any other comments on this passage? Please come down. Well, WB7, WB7? Roger, please go ahead. Yeah, and that really gets at the heart of the Reformation and the Council of Trent and the means of grace through the Church. And how I interpret Daniel 7 and Daniel 8 is that there will be a power that will cast the truth to the ground. In other words, they will try to make what's heavenly actually controlled by the humanity or the human operation of this power that will cast this truth, this gospel to the ground, misuse of the blood of Jesus. Yeah, that's right. The gospel has been under assault since day one. I mean, it was under assault in Paul's day, even before the New Testament was completed, the gospel was under assault. And of course, the New Testament was written in order to define the gospel, in order to declare the gospel, and in order to defend the gospel. That's why it was written down. You know, a lot of people don't want to write down what the gospel is. But Paul wrote it down. That's why we got the New Testament. And so we recognize that there have been institutions, there have been cults, there have been movements, you know, thousands of them across the world and down through history. What do they always attack? They always attack the gospel. And, you know, Roger, I've heard it said, and I think it's accurate, there's only two religions in the world. There's the religion where God saves man. And then there's the religion where man saves himself by his own work, or combining his works with God's works. And so Christianity is a religion where God saves man. In Jonah 2.9 it says, salvation is of the Lord. Titus 3 and verse 5, he saved us. And over and over again, we're told salvation is not of ourselves. It is a gift of God. It's not of works. But any man should boast. And what you see is people constantly trying to sneak work into the gospel as the ground upon which you are forgiven and justified by God. Now, we all know that good works are the result of being saved. But good works are not the source of or the instrumental cause of our salvation. And so when we get saved, the first good work that we do in response to our salvation is baptism, in which we confess Christ before men and we identify with this new life. We identify with this new Lord. We identify with this new covenant community of people. And the waters of baptism are waters of separation, you know, where we're declaring, I'm done with the old life, I am going forward into the new life, because I have repented of my sins and trusted in Jesus as my Savior. So, yeah, good work. Jesus says, let your light show shine before men that they may see your good work and glorify your Father which is in heaven. So we all are huge supporters of good work as a way to witness, as a way to bring glory to God, as an act of obedience, an expression of love to Jesus, but not as the ground of our salvation. And so we have to maintain that sharp distinction and not take some of the things that are involved in our sanctification and use them as a ground of our justification. So we've got to understand some theology here if we're going to understand the gospel. All right. Roger, back to you. I've rambled on here a while. Do you have another comment? Go ahead. Well, yes. That's a fascinating study, and we never outlived that. And I think of all analysis where it's so obvious that... Abraham was reckoned righteous well before, years before, you know, chapter 15 of Genesis. He's reckoned righteous by his faith, and circumcision work was not until years in chapter 17 of it. Yeah, well said. Romans 4 makes exactly that same point. When was Abraham saved? Long before he ever got circumcised. So clearly, circumcision has nothing to do with salvation, because Abraham was declared to be a justified man in Genesis 15, as you said, and then he didn't get circumcised until years and years and years later in Genesis 17. And so while circumcision, every saved person was circumcised, circumcision wasn't the cause of their salvation. And just like every saved person under the New Covenant is baptized, the baptism isn't the cause of their salvation. It's something that happens after salvation. So Jesus says, go and make disciples of all nations. And once they're disciples, once they're believers, then baptize them. And so while circumcision was a universal mark of those who were saved, It was never the cause of their salvation. Baptism is the universal mark of those who were saved in the New Testament. It was never the cause of their salvation. Okay, great comments there. Any other comments from anyone else? Please come down to the call center. All right, the net would like to acknowledge Carol, KK7TPO. Carol, see you there on the Utah SDR. Appreciate you being there, and we got you checked in. Just looking over here, there may be some others. Anyway, we're starting to run out of time here. Any final comments or prayer requests before we go to prayer? Please come down to closing. All right, well, I think what we'll do is we'll go to prayer. Today, Scott in 7NPA is supposed to pray. He's in the rotation here. Scott, are you out there? Would you like to pray, or shall I go ahead and close in prayer? Scott in 7NPA, go ahead. All right, Scott is not with us today, so I will go ahead and close in prayer. And then tomorrow, let's see, Al, KJ722H is in the rotation for prayer. So, Al, hopefully you'll be able to close in prayer for us tomorrow. All right, well, let's turn to the Lord and let's ask His blessing upon our day and our understanding of the Word of God and the needs that we have together. All right, our kind and gracious Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for... the word of God and the clarity that it contains and the urgency that it provides us with regarding the true nature of the gospel. And Lord, I just pray that you would help us to rightly understand the gospel and that it's on the basis of repentance and faith in Jesus plus nothing. Thank you, Father, for the ordinance of baptism and how it clearly... described what happened to us when we got saved and all the symbolism that it contained. But Father, it's not the instrumental cause of anything. It is the declarative statement of what you did do when you saved us. And so we thank you, Father, for that ordinance. I pray that we would understand it rightly and never confuse it with being part of the gospel, but that it is an expression of one who has already embraced the gospel. And now, Lord, we just ask for you to help us to receive brethren who before were maybe our persecutors. I think of Corrie Denbooth, Father, and how that she had to forgive the concentration camp guard who was so cruel to her after he came to saving faith in Jesus and repented and asked for forgiveness. And so, Lord, there have been those who have been very vicious to us. But, Father, if you would be pleased to save them and bring them to repentance, we would be pleased to forgive them and to embrace them. So, Father, help us to have that attitude that Peter, James, and John had here towards Saul of Tarsus. who is now Paul the Apostle. Lord, we have needs that we want to bring before you today. Lord, we pray for George, K2KJX, and his son Tommy, his wife Anna, and their four boys need a place to live. Father, Tommy and Anna are laboring in the work of the ministry. And Lord, I just pray that you would encourage their hearts by providing them with a tent to be able to live in, speaking metaphorically, of course, a home, Father, a place to dwell until they come to their real dwellings. which is, of course, the new heavens and the new earth. Father, we're all just camping through this life. And Lord, we need shelter. You know that. And so, Lord, I pray for Tommy and Anna that you would provide them with shelter for themselves and their four boys so that they can both labor unhindered in the work of the gospel. Father, thank you for Anna and her job as being an operating room tech. Give her skill and wisdom, and may you bless her as she engages in that healing ministry. through the hospital there. Father, we just want to pray for Al, KJ7QQH, and his wife, Jerry. They are going to the Albany Hospital today around noon. Lord, we pray for a safe journey for them. Father, we pray that this MRI would reveal the cause of the numbness in your arms and hands. And I pray that a good diagnosis and a proper remedy would be supplied to them. Father, we thank you so much for Al and Jerry and their witness and testimony for you. And Father, I just pray that whatever health challenges that they have, that you'd be pleased to resolve them so that they can serve you unhindered. Father, we thank you for our dear brother Jeff, a.k.a. 6OK, who's back east meeting with some people from the Billy Graham Association and others. to raise support, Father, for Operation Worship, in which he purchases Bibles and gives them away for free to soldiers in the military, and in which he puts chapels inside Navy ships so the soldiers have a place of quiet and refuge and worship that they can attend upon in the midst of the conflict of war and battle. Lord, I just ask that you would be with Jeff and give him great success and work in the hearts of those who have resources to be able to help fund this ministry that is so vital to the spiritual salvation and preservation of our troops. Father, bring Jeff safely back to us. And Father, just surround him with your love and your peace. Father, we just want to pray for our dear brother, Jerry, 87-ER, who's traveling to Lebanon today to see his brand-new great-granddaughter for the first time. And, Lord, just thank you for bringing this little life into the world. And, Lord, I pray that the family would just rejoice together at this gift of your grace and goodness. And may this little granddaughter become saved in due time. And, Father, may she follow you all the days of her life and walk in the steps of her grandfather, Jerry, in faith in Jesus. Father, we just want to pray today for the war in Iran. Glenn KJ7UMW asked us to pray about that. Father, pray that you would bring a speedy end to this war. We pray for our Father for the defeat and the removal of the Islamic regime that has been so evil and spreading death and destruction around the world through its proxies. And Lord, I pray that a government that is representative of the people and represents your truth and will would be raised in Iran. I want to give President Trump wisdom and Secretary of Defense Excess wisdom in knowing to manage this war and bring it to a successful conclusion. Protect our troops and keep them safe, Father. Father, we just thank you for our brother Wilkie and my tribe, Foxtrot, who's going to be going to men's conference in Nampa, Idaho soon. And Lord, we pray for safety for him as he travels. Good fellowship, good instruction, and Father, good visit with family as well. And so, Lord, we also want to pray for Kevin's wife one day. Father, her health issues, especially her intestines and her ability to eat food. Father, I pray that she would take away those sensitivities and that she would have peace in her body. And now, Father, we just want to pray for our brother Mike, W7CWO. We praise you for the apparent healing of his temporal arteritis. that had reoccurred and has been plaguing him. Father's last blood work showed no sign of it. And Lord, we just pray now that he'd be able to taper off the prednisone without a serious side effect. And Lord, I pray that this temporal arteritis would never come back and that he would know completely from that. So we pray for Mike's grandson, Jordan. Jaden, pardon me, Jaden, who is immersed in the rock and roll culture. Lord, I pray that you would open a door for Mike to be able to share the gospel with him, and that, Lord, you would open the door of his heart to receive the gospel and become saved, and become delivered out of that toxic and wicked culture. Father, we just want to pray for Jeff, I think, okay, if we need healing, if we need salvation. And, Father, I pray that you would just give her grace to process it. the past injustices that were done to her. Father, I pray that she'll be able to commit that into your hands and trust you with that and with your dealings with those who victimized her. And, Lord, we just thank you that she's turning toward the gospel. May she fully embrace Christ. And, Lord, thank you that she's making some progress. Lord, we do pray for Autumn. Father, she needs to find a new place to live. Father, she has been ministered to by Roger and Darlene endlessly. And, Lord, it's time perhaps for someone else to minister to her. And so, Lord, I pray that she would find another place to live. Lord, I just pray for her mental stability. I pray for the development of her social skills. I pray for her deliverance from false theological beliefs. And from worldliness, Father, she's just immersing herself in movies instead of in the Scripture. And Lord, I just pray for her salvation. Father, have mercy on her. Lord, we just want to continue to pray for Mike, W7TWO's brother-in-law Randy, who needs to find housing. Lord, I pray that he would stop being on the list and actually get into a place that would be suitable for him. for the long term. Lord, we ask that he would be able to have this back surgery that he needs, and that when he does, it will be successful, it will be free from pain, and he'll have full mobility. Father, we just want to also pray for little Alice, Carol's seven-year-old great-granddaughter. Lord, I pray that you would protect her from ungodly influences. I know there's a custody battle going on in relationship to her, and Lord, I pray that she would be with the parent who is best for her. and that would protect her from any potential abuse, and that would guide her into the way of the gospel. Father, I just pray for Alice, that she would be saved, and that you would allow Carol to have some access, to be able to share the gospel with her, and be a loving grandparent to her. And now, Lord, we just want to thank you for your goodness, your mercy, and your grace to each one of us. And thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. Father, may he be glorified in our lives. And Father, may we become like Him in our character, our speech, our thinking, and our behavior. Father, we ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen. That sounds like a great presentation, and you guys have done a lot of work to prepare for that. And praise the Lord. Is Darlene able to play her instrument, or is this radiation surgery preclude her from doing that? Well, she's really taken vacation from the Symphony. She certainly has been so bonded to that for years, and that's been kind of hard to go to the concerts with her, so to speak, knowing that she would rather be on the platform than with me. I don't take that literally. You know, but I mean, that's kind of describing some of her angst about what she's been going through and not being able to be in this company. But, you know, the Lord has some incredible ways to grow and mature us as we age and go through these losses of our lives. But, yeah, she'll be playing, and I'm so pleased to be able to say that she'll be able to do that, Owek. Yeah, they're real good, Roger. You know, things come and things go in life. And, you know, we're both old enough now to see that things we used to be able to do, we can't do anymore. And we have to just accept that graciously as God redirecting our ministry. And, you know, it's like, okay, if I can't do what I used to do, well, I'll do what I can do now. And, you know, maybe it would be a switch from, you know, playing an instrument to teaching a Sunday school class. I mean, who knows? God willing, she'll be able to get back to it. You know, Kathy continues to play the piano. There was a time there when it wasn't going to work, and while she was healing up, but then she was able to go back to it. So, you know, there's an end and a conclusion to the treatment and all the effects of the surgery, and, you know, Kathy plays as well as she ever did. even after two breast cancer episodes 15 years apart. So there's lots of hope to return back to that. But while she's away from it, just let her rest from ministry and let others minister to her. And that's okay to have others minister to you instead of you being the one who's doing the ministry. So, all right, Roger, I will let you go. 7-3, have a great day. Give Dailene a hug for all of us.
