### Bible Study Summary: 1 Corinthians 13

#### Overview

This Bible study session, facilitated by Scott despite his radio issues, centered around 1 Corinthians 13, with a focus on Paul's third visit to the Corinthians. The group, which included Dave, Bert, David, Roger, Kevin, Will, Beck, Al, Keith, Peter, and Max, delved into themes of leadership, faith, and the importance of a quiet place for reflection. The study also highlighted the role of teamwork and leadership in challenging situations, emphasizing the importance of not putting leaders on a pedestal.

#### Themes and Discussion

**Paul's Third Visit (1 Corinthians 13)**: The group discussed Paul's third visit to the Corinthians, where he emphasizes the new covenant and the importance of leadership. Paul's message underscores the need for strong leadership within the community, which can guide and support members through difficult times. This theme resonates with the group's own experiences, where leadership and teamwork have been crucial in overcoming challenges, such as Scott's radio problems and the technical setup for the study.

**Weakness and Faith**: Paul's acknowledgment of his own weaknesses and how they strengthen his faith was a significant point of discussion. This theme encourages the group to rely on God, recognizing that our weaknesses can be transformed into strengths when we trust in Him. This discussion ties into the broader context of the study, where participants like Scott and Beck faced and overcame technical difficulties, illustrating the importance of faith and perseverance.

**Leadership and Teamwork**: The group emphasized the importance of leadership and teamwork, especially in challenging situations. This theme was evident in the collaborative efforts to resolve Scott's radio issues, with Al, David, Kevin, Beck, and Steve providing support. The discussion also highlighted the role of Pastor Max, who usually leads the study, and the importance of not putting him on a pedestal. This reflects the broader principle that leaders are human and should be supported and encouraged, not idolized.

**Quiet Place for Reflection**: Encouraging a quiet place for reflection and honesty with oneself was another key theme. This theme was discussed in the context of finding a space to connect with God, away from the noise and distractions of daily life. This quiet reflection is crucial for spiritual growth and understanding, allowing individuals to assess their faith and actions honestly.

#### Discussion Questions

1. **Leadership and Weakness**: How can acknowledging our weaknesses strengthen our leadership and faith? Can you think of a time when your weakness became a strength?

2. **Teamwork in Challenges**: How does teamwork play a role in overcoming challenges, both in spiritual and practical contexts? Can you share an experience where teamwork helped you overcome a challenge?

3. **Reflection and Honesty**: Why is it important to have a quiet place for reflection and honesty with oneself? How can this practice enhance your spiritual journey?

4. **Supporting Leaders**: How can we support leaders without putting them on a pedestal? What are some practical ways to encourage and assist leaders in their roles?

#### Prayers and Technical Notes

The session concluded with prayers for Aunt Marian's recovery, George's test results, Eric's well-being, Pastor Max's quick movement through long lines in New York and New Jersey, and Kathy's safety on her journey. The group also discussed technical issues, including Scott's radio problems and the best frequency for the study, which was Utah. Keith and Peter's participation via SDR and CW paddle added a unique dimension to the study.

#### Conclusion

This Bible study session not only delved into the rich themes of 1 Corinthians 13 but also provided practical insights into leadership, faith, and teamwork. I have a Thurston Hills advertisement here. It comes in different forms, Beck, in that, you know, we got Dave out there, W7CX, running around helping people with their antennas to put out a better signal. You know, Bert with his SDR, you flying the planes the way you do with relays and lifting people up at the end of the net. You know, David and Roger and Kevin, all with their experience that they're able to dissect our scriptures. Will, you know, I see Will as somebody that he pays close attention to what each individual words say. He taught me the other day. not seeing a messenger instead of the message. And I thought, that's wonderful. That is absolutely wonderful. And just a lot of different folks that bring stuff to the table and appreciate each and every one. And it makes it a real, you know, a mark. Anyway, I've still got my comment. Alright, go ahead and start it. Yeah, I wanted to thank you for your persistence yesterday, Scott. And the reason why I'm doing that is because I'd already given up, thinking that we weren't going to have the net because the signals were so rotten. But you pushed on it and followed through, even though you were having all the radio problems and everything. And I think we had a pretty decent net, considering how bad the signals were. And I just wanted to thank you for that. I appreciate that, Beck. Well, I have a lot of confidence in everybody else that's around the table. And everybody brings something, and we are a team, Beck. And I knew that if I couldn't get my radio to go, that somehow, someway, we would give it a try. here as of late, and that my remote had taken over my radio, and I didn't realize it. And part of that stemmed from I was up on a mountaintop where I could get a cell signal with my laptop and cell phone that previous day, trying to get my remote to work on different IP addresses, and the laptop died. The battery died in the laptop, which inadvertently shut down the remote system in a way that it did not release it from the radio. And I didn't realize it. I get up the next morning. Of course, I had powered up the laptop, you know, when I got home, I plugged it in back. and put it on the charger and never even thought that the remote software had a grip on the radio. So when I sat down here... Yesterday morning, it, uh, I couldn't get it to do anything until I got over to the laptop and turned it on and unshackled it. And then it was good to, good. And then I worked on it yesterday afternoon And, but before I shut everything down and before I went downstairs last night, I made sure that the radio worked. So I was tripped up a little bit back, but we got her. We got her. So that's a little bit of the back story of what happened yesterday. Over. Yeah, Roger. OK, just for an update, I checked Crooked River Ranch. It worked for me today for some reason. And it's not much better. Utah's doing the best so far. All righty. All righty. Well, thanks for that. Utah looks like it's the go-to one this morning. All right, we'll do a final check-in. We're running a few minutes late, and that's of my design, hoping that the band will get better, and we'll squeeze everything in today. Looking for check-ins, looking for last-minute check-ins to the West Coast Bible Study Group, and everybody listen up in 7 MPA. Okay, hearing nothing. Hearing nothing. And I've seen this roll along here. We could roll along here in a little bit difficult. for perhaps five hours. Father, I just pray that his back and his extremities can be free from pain. I know this would be extremely difficult, and oh my, Our Holy Spirit be with you for all. Amen. I'll talk with Farley and keep that for next. All righty. Appreciate that reading, Beck, of these 14 verses. And we can kind of break up these 14 verses like one through four. Paul announces his third visit and reminds the Corinthians, Okay. Well, back in chapter 12 again, in verse 14, he said, this will be the third time that I am coming to you. He starts off chapter 13 to remind again, this will be the third time I am coming to you. You know, in the Old Testament, it was only the high priest that could go into the Holy of Holies. Well, here with the implementation of the new covenant, we are... If not, you need to get out. That's pretty much what he was saying. And what I know when I was reading a church, I was confronted with this multiple times. Our God is bigger than his millfold. And so these are just a couple instances, and I'm sure Kevin has dealt with this, and I'm sure that David has dealt with this, and Roger's dealt with this. Anybody that's been in leadership has dealt with it. is what needs to happen. And I do this on a daily basis, and I encourage each and every one of us to have a quiet place where... And it really was yesterday as my radio wouldn't work at the beginning of the net. It was a disaster over here at the crow's nest. But Al and David and Kevin and Beck and Steve really come to my rescue. And it was a beautiful thing watching the whole team come together, all the brothers and sisters. It was wonderful. Okay, I'm hearing nothing. I'm just looking through the SDRs. I see Keith there, K7NEB. Good morning, Keith. Glad to have you on board. your heads up and what you bring to the table. And, yeah, there was Peter. I believe I heard Peter on the CW paddle this morning. Good morning, Peter. Let's see. There, do-do-do-do-do-do. of what the scripture is talking about. Trust solid in the faith. And so when you go to your quiet place, I really encourage us to be honest with ourselves. For when he says, "For we're glad when we are weak and you are strong." And he says, "And also this we pray, that you may be made complete." So what is Paul saying here to them? He acknowledges Paul, when he was weak, is when he's the strongest in his faith. That's when God's able to utilize you, and to the most of the benefit of His Word. to move your spiritual walk forward, we have to become weak and rely on Him. And I think that I'm probably a lot like many of you. We have grown to appreciate Pastor Max so much. But Pastor Max, if you watch a lot of us, we rely on Pastor Max to pack the weight The last few days, Max has been gone, and he asked me to facilitate this. Well, I'm no pastor man, but I do know that in order to move forward, I do what he asked me to do. But I look at it and... uh are thankful that uh we're getting through this and uh through his weakness uh that each and every one of us are are stronger each and every one of us are uh are doubling down so uh i uh i hear what you're saying there david and it's uh we're watching it if we stop and look we're watching this uh Yeah, you bet. And that's a key verse in chapter 13. So when I feel that, oh, Pastor Matt, choose somebody else. I'm not your guy. But I go ahead and take it. I have to rely on him. You know, my brain doesn't work like it used to. Beck's sharing when he reads verse 9, he sees Jesus loves me. This I know. And so that's how that spoke to Beck. And these verses will speak to each of us in different ways. And so thanks for sharing that, Beck. Over. Thank you. that we have Max every day. So I don't want you guys to take him lightly, but also don't put him on a pedestal. It's just a beautiful thing. So any other thoughts before we go to prayer? All right, well, I'm going to close out in prayer, and tomorrow we'll be in, I believe, now I don't know the... Hey, go ahead there, Pete. I can hear you now. Yeah, that was crazy this morning. I'd like to say to my Aunt Marian again, she's going to make it. She's going to follow me on the train. So I'll play the game. And if it's not a deal, then I win. OK. I have your Aunt Marian here on paper. Father, as we close out, I pray over each and every one, each and every one that's grabbed a chair and sitting around the table, whether they're in front of their transmitter receiver or have a receiver laptop and tuned into an SDR. for a miracle and healing. And we pray that if Marian's in any pain, that that pain will dissipate. And so, Father, we lift up Marian to you. and a lot of us around the table can say amen to that. Father, as we wait with George for this test results for this ultrasound can be get back to normalcy. Father, I'm thinking of Eric this morning and know that Ann is there and she gets the point to Israel. Father, I just pray for he and the other... Father, as we prepare to close, with one voice, we want to lift up Pastor Max's standing in line in New York, New Jersey. Father, we pray that these long lines can be moved through quickly. for our brother. And Father, we lift him up and we just ask that you put a hand of strength upon him, put a hand of encouragement upon him, but most of all, Father, put a hand of safety around him as he prepares to fly home. Father, we lift up Kathy here as she prepares to take a journey drive Thank you, Scott. This one's similar to the other day, what musical instrument is found in the bathroom? A tube of toothpaste? Well, this is kind of lazy English, too. I hope somebody gets it. Why did the mushroom go to the party? Anybody? My wheels are spinning, but I'm just throwing mud, and I'm not going anywhere. But if you did, I could give you some of the numbers, and you could link into the different repeaters around here. I don't know all the answers yet, but some of the people in Idaho Falls came by this. Yeah, yeah. It's pretty popular. Can you find that there, Ben? Yeah, he didn't catch the second person because Scott was doubling with you. Who was that? I'm not sure who you're talking to, but he gave you a second contact that was out there. And you guys doubled, so you didn't hear it, Scott. kind of help you along there. But that's available. And sometimes George and David and Jeff and a bunch of us, we just visit whenever we have the time, especially when the band is bad. I talked to David this morning, and it works well. Can I get an audio for the two? You can get an audio hummed in stereo, if you like. One is on 75 meters, and the other one's on 2 meters, Harold, or UHF. However, whatever frequency, you are tied in right now, Dan. Oh no! So we're going to take a rain check. What I'd like to do is maybe, and what I have in the back of my mind, what I'd like to do when I get a little bit stronger is come down when you guys do a chapel install on one of the Navy ships and kind of help out. I'd really enjoy doing that.
