### Bible Study Summary: 2 Corinthians 8:10-24

#### Introduction and Prayer Requests

The Bible study session began with a round of prayer requests and updates from members of the group. Pete, W6NOX, shared that his 98-year-old aunt Marian is improving, and Craig, KG5DST, expressed concern for Sandy Muniz, who recently underwent a biopsy and needs a negative result. Will, KM5F, brought good news about Rita, a 16-year-old girl who went missing and was found and reunited with her parents, thanks to the prayers of the group. Others checked in, including Jeff, AK6OK, who mentioned he was preparing to ship books on Wednesday. The session then moved into a detailed discussion of 2 Corinthians 8:10-24.

#### Context and Principles of Giving

In 2 Corinthians 8:10-24, Paul addresses the church in Corinth regarding the collection of funds to support the poor saints in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem church was suffering due to drought and persecution, and Paul sought to encourage the Corinthians to give generously. The passage highlights several key principles of giving:

1. **Voluntary and Discriminatory Giving**: Paul emphasizes that giving should proceed out of love and not be coerced. The giving should be voluntary, and it should be discriminatory, meaning it should be directed towards those in need, not universally distributed. This aligns with the principle of equality, where those with abundance should supply the lack of others.

2. **Local Church Involvement**: The principle of giving through the local church to other local churches is underscored. This ensures that the funds are managed and distributed effectively and with accountability.

3. **Vetting of Financial Managers**: Paul stresses the importance of vetting individuals who manage finances to prevent embezzlement. This highlights the need for character in those handling funds, ensuring that the resources are used for their intended purpose.

4. **Condition of the Heart**: The heart behind the giving is more important than the amount. This underscores that generosity is not just about the quantity but also the quality of the giving.

5. **Forms of Giving**: Giving can take various forms, including money, possessions, time, talent, and prayer. This broadens the understanding of generosity beyond just monetary contributions.

#### Discussion Points

- **Roger, WB7VZL**, emphasized the importance of vetting individuals managing finances to prevent embezzlement, reinforcing the need for trust and integrity in leadership.
- **Will, KM5F**, noted that Paul never explicitly mentioned "money" but implied it through the context, suggesting that the principles of giving apply to all forms of resources.
- **Kevin, KB7ZXN**, highlighted that giving is about the condition of the heart, not just the amount, emphasizing the importance of genuine love and compassion.
- **David, KK7PDI**, shared practical examples of giving, such as providing LED lights and chairs to churches in need, illustrating how generosity can manifest in tangible ways.
- **Jeff, AK6OK**, mentioned preparing to ship books, emphasizing the importance of sharing resources and knowledge.

#### Themes and Discussion Questions

**Themes:**
- The importance of voluntary and heartfelt giving.
- The role of local churches in managing and distributing resources.
- The necessity of vetting and trusting those who handle finances.
- The various forms of giving beyond just monetary contributions.

**Discussion Questions:**
1. How does the principle of voluntary and discriminatory giving apply in your church or community?
2. In what ways can your local church ensure that those managing finances are trustworthy and accountable?
3. How can you personally embody the principle that the heart behind giving is more important than the amount?
4. What are some non-monetary ways you can give to those in need, and how can you encourage others to do the same?
5. How does the Bible's teaching on giving differ from modern concepts like socialism, and why is this distinction important?

#### Closing Prayer

The session concluded with a prayer led by Scott, M7, thanking God for generosity in giving and praying for various ministries and individuals, including Marion, Bob, Sandy, Emma, Jim, Alex, Lee, Sam, Stephanie, Dan, and Chris. The group also prayed for those in need of healing, salvation, and support, emphasizing the importance of continued prayer and giving.

#### Technical Notes

The group meets seven days a week at 6 a.m. for Bible study and prayer. Technical issues with interference from other stations were noted, but the group persevered, demonstrating their commitment to fellowship and study.

Alright, I haven't heard him either. Steve, W6YSI, are you out there? I haven't heard from Jerry either. Pete was on here earlier. Okay, Pete, W6NOX, we're praying for his 98-year-old aunt. And she is doing better, he said. I talked to him yesterday after the net. His aunt's name is Marian, M-A-R-I-A-N, M-A-R-I-A-N, Marian. And he said she's improving a little. So we're praying for her healing. He thought she was on her way out, but it sounds like she's had a bit of a recovery, over. Yeah, yeah, she lives over at Bandit. Yeah, real good. Thank you for that. Okay. All right. Any other check-ins to West Coast Public Study, please come now. KeelDoll 5, Delta Sierra Tango. All right. I had a double there, but I got Delta Sierra Tango. Come back to me with the rest of your callsign, Delta Sierra Tango. Kilo Golf 5, Delta Sierra Tango. Okay, Kilo Golf 5, Delta Sierra Tango. I recognize the call sign. Have you been on the West Coast Bible Study before? Go ahead. I have been a while, but yeah, I was on it before. My name is Craig. I'm in Laloose, New Mexico. I just want to have a prayer request for a friend of mine, his name is Sandy Muniz. He had a biopsy done this last week, let's hope it comes back negative. Okay, so you're asking, Craig, good to have you with us, KG5DST. Yeah, I recognize that call sign, I know you've been here before, I just couldn't come up with a name, so I apologize for that. But Craig, appreciate you being here. We're praying for Sandy. Please repeat the prayer request for Sandy, over. Yeah, Sandy had a biopsy done this last week. He had biopsies before and it was okay, negative. So I guess he had another one come back, so they're doing another biopsy. And let's just pray for him, make sure that that biopsy comes back negative. His name is Sandy Muniz. Let's hope that the Lord has put his healing hands on him and keeps him well. All right, copy that. Sandy's having a biopsy, and we're just praying that it comes back negative. So appreciate that prayer request, Craig, and we'll bring Sandy before the throne of grace for a negative result on his biopsy. Craig, thanks for being here. Appreciate you, brother. All right, any other check-ins, please come now. BKE. All right, there's Jim in for the BKE. Go ahead, Jim. I talked to Steve a few days ago. He's coming up this way, but he didn't say exactly when, and he could stay with me on his way up to Billings, Montana. So he may be already started. If I told him, let me know, so I can get him directed into the place there, and he'll spend a day or so with me. That might be where he is now, but he didn't say exactly when he was heading this way. Copy that. Okay, thanks, Jim. So maybe he's on the road, and that's why he's not on the radio. Appreciate that. All right, any other check-ins to West Coast Public Study, please come down. Oh, I heard Carol. Carol, KK7TPO. Carol, go ahead. Alright, we got Carol checked in. No prior requests. Carol, thank you for being there. Appreciate that. Alright, if I misunderstand somebody today, I got a lot of whistling in my radio and it's kind of driving me nuts and I hear most of what folks are saying. If I don't get something right, then be patient with me and provide relays. Alright, that's Carol, KK7TPO. Alright, any other check-ins, please come now. WB7VZL, good morning all. Good morning, Roger, WB7VZL, good to hear your voice. How are you doing? Well, you know, better than we deserve, over. Copy that. Well, I'm glad to hear things are going well there and appreciate you being there. Alright, I have not heard from Will, KM5F, Will, are you out there? KM5F, I'm here. I just waited for a break to get on there. I have an update on Rita. They found her, but they found her four hours after she went missing, which is why you didn't inform them because they just forgot about her. I got the coordinator, she said she met me yesterday saying that she talked to Rita's father and he said to thank everybody for their prayers. So, beyond half of Rita's dad, I say thank you for all of their prayers. All right, copy that, Will. So we've been praying for Rita, a 16-year-old girl who disappeared from her home. It sounds like that she made it back home and she's reunited with her parents and things seem to be doing okay there. So that's a praise and an answer to prayer. And the father of Rita was to convey his gratitude to all who prayed for Rita's safe return. That is good, good news. Thank you for that. Well, appreciate that. Okay, I've heard from Kevin, KB7 Zedixin. Kevin, you out there? Well, good morning. Just getting ready to key up. So I hope everyone's doing well this Saturday morning. And nothing new here. All right, real good. Thank you for that. Appreciate that. And we got you checked in there, Kevin. Okay, let's see. Who else do we have here? Let me check my SPRs. I haven't heard from Mark KJ7PVT. Mark, are you out there? Come back to me. Brian was in there. Okay, is that Brian K7VIP or Brian KJ7PWM? PWM. Okay, Brian KJ7PWM, come back to me. Good morning, Alex. It's good to hear your voice. Alex, we're so glad you are here with us, and I'm glad you're there with Grandpa. So hopefully you and Grandpa will have a good day together today. And Alex, we really appreciate hearing your voice. So thank you for keying up the radio and talking to us. And Brian KJ7 PWM. All right, real good you guys. Thanks for being there. All right, any other check-ins? Come now. All right, there is Glenn K7 GWR. Good morning, Glenn. Good to have you with us. Appreciate you being there. Who else is with us today? Let's see, just going through the SDRs. Okay, I'm going to go ahead and start the Bible study. I will go back and check those a little later on, and we will get other people checked in as they show up. But we want to get started with the Bible study today. We are in... Scott, I have an email from Jerry, 87ER. Jerry, are you there? Yeah. All right, negative on Jerry. Okay, we're going to get started with a Bible study. We are in 2 Corinthians chapter 8, and we're going to be reading verses 10 through 24. That's verse 10 to the end of the chapter. So quite a little extensive scripture reading there, but I think we'll be able to handle that. If you could read that section for us, we'd appreciate that. So we'll have you read when the time comes back. But that's 2 Corinthians 8, verses 10 through the end of the chapter there, Bec. But before we get started, we want to talk a little bit about where we're at. Paul is speaking to the church of Corinth here about collecting funds. to give to the poor saints in Jerusalem. So Corinth, of course, is over in Greece, and so it's talking about giving to foreign countries and distant churches when they have financial needs. And in this case, the poverty in that church was, was tremendous for two reasons. One, there was a big drought over there, which was harming the economy and the crops, which created a food shortage. And secondly, the church was persecuted, which makes it doubly hard to get funds. So what Paul is doing is he's going to various churches, the ones up in Macedonia, Athosmaic and Philippi, and then he's, of course, talking to the church at Corinth, and he's collecting these funds from these churches. He's going to take it to the church at Jerusalem, give it to the elders there, they will distribute it to the poor in their assemblies. that they know that need those funds. So that's the context in which we're dealing with Paul's giving principles that should guide the giving for giving above and beyond our giving to our own local church for the support of our own pastors. This is giving outside the local church, done through the local church, to other local churches, and then to the people in their areas. So these are the principles that Paul is setting out. They should guide us for our giving to ministries outside of the church that we attend. All right, that's the context. But before we get started, we want to open our time together in prayer. Kevin, KB7, ZXN, could you please open in prayer for us today? Sure, just one moment. Let us bow our heads. Our most gracious and loving Father, we do thank you for this day that you've given us to assemble together over the air here. Look into your word to lift up prayers and praises unto you, Lord. We thank you for your forgiveness of our sins and our failures. Lord, help us to continue to be faithful. Help us to have grace to live in us so we might be forgiving of others as well. Be with us and open our hearts and minds as we look into your word this day. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, real good. Thank you for that. So, K7GWR Gene, I may have mispronounced your name in the fog of my memory. So that's Gene, K7GWR Gene. Thank you for being with us. Okay, Kevin, thank you so much for that prayer. I appreciate that. And we're going to do some scripture reading now. Got quite a bit here, a big section, but it moves easily. So, Beck, Alpha Alpha Phi Yankee, if you could please read for us 2 Corinthians 8 verses 10 through 24. Roger, thank you for the honor, and I'll be reading from the New King James Version. And in this psyche of advice, it is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began, and were desiring to do a year ago, but now you also must complete that, the doing of it, that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have. For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. For I do mean that others should be eased and you burdened. but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack, that there may be equality, as it is written, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Verse 16. Verse 16. all the churches. And not only that, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the Lord himself and to show the unready mind. I believe this, that anyone should blame us in this lavish gift which is administered by us, providing honorable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. And we have sent them our brother, who he have often proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent because of the great confidence which we have in you. If anyone inquires about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker concerning you. For if your brethren are inquired about, they are messengers of the churches of the glory of Christ, Therefore, show to them and these of forth the torture, the proof of your love, and for your boasting on our behalf. Alpha Alpha Phi V, keep back to net. All right, Roe, good, Beck, thank you for that. Great reading, appreciate that. Okay, any comments on this section, please, come down to your call time. WP, shut out, and at all. Roger, WP7VZL, go ahead. Well, it certainly was the vetting of Titus and the team, over. Well, copy that, you know, and I think the point here, Roger, is that if you're going to have people managing the finances of the church in any way, shape, or form, they need to be men of good character. And not only do we have multiple... involved so that there's mutual accountability, those multiple people that are involved are men of proven character. You know, one of the requirements for an elder in a church is that he not be greedy of filthy lucre, as it says in 1 Timothy chapter 3, which means that money can't be an idol in his life and he can't be attached to material things as the highest good in his value system so you've got to have people who are honest people who are proven, people who are not marked by covetousness or by the love of money or by the idolatry of material things, because those are the kind of folks that steal. Roger reminds me of Judas, who had the bag, right, among the twelve. And this was a guy who was covetous, and that's why he was so... that when Barry poured out that box of ointment on Jesus' head was worth a year's wages. And he says, why are we wasting a year's wages on the worship of Jesus? That money, that perfume should have been sold and given to the poor. And that's the guy's the veneer, the cloak that people often use. It's too big money so we can minister to the poor. When in fact Judas had his hand in the bag, as we all know, he was a thief. So anytime there's large amounts of money flowing there's always a track gives the people a bad character who want some of that money to put in their own pocket. And we've seen that over and over and over again in ministries, haven't we? Where people who are involved in organizations that move millions of dollars around, they wind up moving some of that into their own pocket. So, embezzlement's a problem. and men of good character are necessary, and there needs to be multiple points of accountability so that those kinds of things don't happen. Roger, great comment. Okay, any other comments, please come down. Can't wait to find Foxtrot. Can you wait to find Foxtrot? Well, go ahead. Yeah, I was just looking over this whole chapter again and I noted that Paul never mentioned the word "money" at all. Maybe in flight, but he never really actually mentioned it. And I know that's a little... Yeah, the word "money" isn't mentioned there. Clearly, he is talking about money because he's talking about the gift for praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. So, yeah, I, you know, somebody can help us out here if they see a mention of the word money in particular, but it is pretty clear that they're giving money because they're having to transport it across the ocean. It could be that there's a giving of items here as well. But it appears that it's talking about the issue of money. Anybody want to comment on Will's comment, please come down. WB-7, we'll be right back. Go ahead, Roger. Well, yeah, a lot of gifts, because they were gifts in kind, had to be converted. And that's where a lot of the graft would come into play. And that's why the vetting of these individuals was so significant. But I'd say it would be implied. But I really liked the quote in verse 15 of Exodus 16. And although I don't correspond with the issues of kind of a communist experience here regarding the church, but there is a principle. that those that have much should be considerate of those that don't have much. I think of the Lord's Supper in the Corinthian church in Chapter 11 of 1 Corinthians that we covered. That is so blatant. and horrible covetousness and not considering the poor in the church. So verse 15, I think, was significant of the quotes from the Older Testament. Yeah, yeah, Roger, great comment there. Getting back to Will, Will, if you would like to type off, verse 2 says, How good in a great trial of the scriptures the abundance of their joy and their deed poverty abounded under the riches of their liberality. So he's talking about poverty, he's talking about riches, and that certainly implies money. Getting back to Roger's comment, you know, verse 15 is a great principle. It says, as it is written, he that gathered much had nothing, over and he that gathered little had no lack. Now a lot of people use that in order to say that Christianity teaches socialism. But the difference between socialism and sharing is the difference between coercion and voluntary distribution. And so what God is saying to these people is consider... your abundance and their lack and take some of your abundance and use it to meet their lack but we got this principle over chapter 9 in verse 7 which we haven't gotten to yet but it's germane because this chapter 8 and 9 is really all one discourse on giving in verse 7 it says every man according to the purposes of his heart Don't let him give. And so the idea that this principle, this quote out of the Old Testament in Exodus 16, 18, here in verse 15, is that it's a voluntary sharing. It's not coerced. And so when you coerce someone to share, that's called stealing. And it's called extortion. And so government, at the point of a gun, takes money from one group of people and gives it to another group of people. That's evil. But when there's voluntary sharing, that's good. So if the people went out and gathered the manna, okay, some gathered more, some gathered less. And then they voluntarily re-distributed it so that everybody had enough. for that day. So the principle of voluntariness versus coercion, Roger, is the difference between socialism and Christian charity. All right, other comments, please, from now. Is that a good? OK, I may have heard someone else out there, I got ZX in, was there another station, can somebody give me a relay? OK, I just may have heard someone bleeding over from another band, can we get someone ZX in, please go ahead. Yeah, I thought I heard someone come in with Roger initially, but I may have, it'll be good, I'd be curious as well, I don't know. of excellent comments and observations here. You know, this here regarding the giving here, it's just so much to to glean out of this and recognize that this, you know, that God is not looking at the size of the giving, but he's looking at the condition of the heart in the giving here. And as we transition here to, he's reminding them, you know, a year before that they had purposed in their heart to participate in this giving and ask him to fulfill that according to their heart. You know, what an opportunity. This is really the fulfillment of so much. This is practical theology, really. You know, theology really, what makes it valuable is when it's applied, when our love of God and our love of the brethren, you know, makes our hearts that we want to be faithful to Him and to love Him. And this is really... application of that. But all great points brought forth here. And that's why I think, you know, it's not really the focus of money. Money is the gift, I'm sure the majority portion is, you know, not all of the gifts that are being spoken of here. But the point is the heart and the love of the brethren. And how many times have we been blessed by that? I know so many times over the years, I feel so blessed to be able to help support different ministries or individuals or their church needs. And then there's times when I've been in circumstance where the Lord has humbled me and I've been the beneficiary of that same love and generosity. And it's quite humbling, but there's nothing like it. Brotherly love and the love of Christ is such a wonderful thing, and we're seeing it applied here, clearly, in the NWO. for a precedence at NH 40,000. Well, it's really covered a lot of aspects of this. KB7, is that a good? Yeah, Kevin, real good, Cormis. Before I respond to that, the net would like to acknowledge Brian, K7ZIP, Jeff, AK6OK, and Dave, KB7WKI. They have all showed up on our Utah FDR. Thank you guys for being there. Really appreciate that. Okay, back to Kevin, Cormis. Yes, Kevin. You know, you're right. It's all about the heart. In verse 10 and 11, Paul says, Herein do I give my advice, for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward, a year ago. So a year ago they were saying, yeah, we want to help. In verse 11, now therefore perform. the doing of it. So they had the intention to help, and he says, time to follow through now, as there was already enough of will so there may be a performance also out of that which you have. So their intention needed to be moved into action. And, uh, And so it's time now to put faith into your heart and show in your hands what your love to the brethren is by your actions. And so just like faith without works is dead, love without the ministry is also dead. You know, when God so loved, He gave His only begotten Son. And if we love people, we're going to give as is appropriate for their need and for the situation here. And I really like, Kevin, what you said. It's not about the amount, but the condition of the heart. And that provoked in my mind, you know, the widow's mite, how that says wealthy Pharisees, you know, they're given large chunks of money, and she gave her two mites. And Jesus said, her heart is what I'm looking at, not the amount that she's giving. Right. And so when you look at Ananias and Sapphira, for example, they gave a large amount, but their heart wasn't right. And they were doing it for the praise of men. They were being deceitful in the way they were doing it. And they were doing it for their own glory. So, Kevin, your point about the heart behind the giving is actually more important than the giving itself and the amount that it supplies. Thanks for bringing that out. Alright, other comments, please come down. Can you remind me of my box truck? Go ahead, Will. Yeah, I think Kevin kind of gave a good example of a point I was trying to make in that he wasn't limiting it, he was just limiting it. Just money. We should be giving the gift that we were given. just money as you said in some examples that you expressed yesterday. And I noticed on the scope that I've got we have another group that's about 1 kilohertz above us, and that's why we're hearing that sounding like out of the voice of the camp others. Well, thanks for the technical information there, and you are right. when it comes to giving, there's a wide variety of resources God has entrusted to us, one of which is actual money, another of which is possessions, and another of which is gifts. It's time, it's talent. And so I know some guys that are involved in construction and what they do is they go down and and build churches on mission fields, and that's their gift. They don't bring money, but they bring skills, and they bring time, and those are important gifts too. So Will, thank you for bringing that up. Brother Jeff was able to send an Oregon over to a church the other day. That was a physical object. So yes, Will, there's a wide scope of things we can give. We can give money, we can give possessions, we can give time, we can give talent. we can give prayer, that's certainly a gift. So Will, thanks for bringing out the broad spectrum of giving that can be done here. Alright, other comments, please come out. Thank you, I got to just say, you know, God wanted us, the apostles, to go out and spread the word, and in spreading the word we help people with civil trans things, you know, they had to accept us right now on the side of the road, and it took them really years to go, because as they were walking and they wanted to help us, Every time that we shoot something that's good for somebody, I'm asking if it's possible to come down and that's the way we have to look at it. Yeah, thanks. What was your call sign again, please? KD5DSP. Okay, real good. Yeah, KD5DSP, thank you for that. Okay, copy that, correct. Okay, and you're right. Okay, thank you for helping those people along the side of the road. Appreciate that. You know, you're right, we need to meet that giving. And so we need to be sensitive to the needs that are around us. And if that's somebody stranded alongside the road, and if that's somebody that needs a word of encouragement, maybe that's somebody that needs some physical help of some kind, their grass or taking their garbage to the dump forum, whatever, there's a lot of things we can do. So Craig, KG5DST, thank you for that comment. Alright, there was another comment right there along with Craig, other station coming out please. PDI, David, KK7PDI, please go ahead. Yeah, I appreciate Will's comment, and it's true, there's many ways to give different gifts. I remember when the preacher at the congregation where I was attending was going on a mission trip and of course the elders provided the funds for him to go on that trip. But there were others in the congregation that wanted me to go, but I wasn't the preacher. But there were people within the congregation who took care of my trip. They paid for everything and they went above and beyond that. They even gave me $12,000 worth of money for medication that I brought there for the people in the area. Philippines and in Africa, and that they could get hepatitis A shots, etc. We had a doctor over there that was a Christian that administered all those shots all around Manila to Santiago in the Philippines. And so there's a lot of good work that can be done. But when we were in Africa, I brought, because we understood, like up in Zingia, Africa, they don't have lights. I mean, these are very poor people in the jungle. and so at nighttime when a mother has to change your baby. They do it in the dark. So I brought a bunch of LED lights that they could have out in the sun during the day, and at nighttime they had light they could see changing their baby. Those are types of gifts that are really neat. So along with what Will was saying, you can give in many different ways. And it's important, but we also did bring a gift of money to, I had the liberty to look at the churches and the problems that existed there. Like there was a congregation of 25 people that they had no chairs. They sat on the floor. So I bought chairs for them when I was there through the gifts that were given through me to look at the needs and then to fulfill that need. COG 07, Papa Kelp, India. Back to you, Max. Yeah, real good. What a practical illustration there, David, of how people in one area provided money to someone who was going to another area in order to meet the needs in that distant land. So praise the Lord for that, David. And, you know, this is an example of what Paul is talking about here. And we see the generosity of people. And we need to be generous as we're able, as the Lord lays it on our heart. And as we have responsible people who can convey those funds in a responsible way to actually meet the needs of those that are in desperate straits. David, thank you for that. All right, other comments? We can now. You know, my class, I've tried. Uh, KM5F, we'll go ahead. Okay, yeah. Yeah, another example of, yes, the past week, this group has given a gift to a young lady named Rita through their prayers and the time that they took the tank. and make those prayers. I can't say enough about that. Thank you. Amen, Father. Amen, Will. There's lots of ways to give, and one of those ways is to pray fervently for a situation and for a need because that's an irreplaceable gift. The Bible talks about the prayers of many redounding to the glory of God. And so it's really important that we recognize there's sorts of giving and Will is grateful for our prayers as a Bible study as we all join together our hands and our hearts to pray for Rita and for her return to her home and she did return safely home and what a blessing that is to know that God answered that prayer, protected that young lady and she was reunited with her parents. Will, thank you for bringing up that illustration. as something that we as a group have been able to do for another group, clear over in Louisiana, people we didn't know but people God knew, and we did what we could, and God was pleased to use that for the blessing of that situation. All right, other comments, please come down. Is that a clear point? Go ahead. Well, and I just appreciate all these comments and examples, because this truly is the expression of the heart and the love that Jesus talked about, how the world will know it just by the love that we have for the brethren, that we have for one another. And it does express itself in so many different ways, in different ministries, in different ways of giving time and resources. you know, so many times it's the little things. that, well, not really little, in the truth of it, it may be seemingly little, but the things of taking the time to maybe listen to someone's trouble or difficulty that they're dealing with or discouragement or what have you, maybe providing a ride here and there for someone or maybe just showing a small need here and there that you can. And it's the investment that we make in each other and into the love expressed through that genuine and the prayers of others for the need that we lift up just so highly because that is something that we can all do at purpose in our hearts. KB7 is an example. Yeah, Kevin Wolf said, and, you know, love is the paramount virtue. in the Christian life. Now, by these three, faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love. And you are so right. Love can be manifested in many different ways, one of which is being spoken of in this passage, but there's so many other ways. And, you know, in Philippians chapter 2 and verse 2, Paul says, to fill you in my joy that you be like-minded, having the same love. And then he begins to identify what that love looks like and how it's expressed. And one of the ways in which we love is by verse 4 of Philippians 2, I look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. And, you know, Kevin, you're talking about being sensitive to the people around us. You know, when we go to church or when we're out in the world, we can't just be inwardly focused on me, myself, and I. We've got to be outwardly aware, situational awareness, if you will. What's going on in this person's life, in that person's life, in this other person's life? And is there a need there that I can meet and demonstrate the love of Christ And not only be a glory to Him in that, but also be a witness for Him in showing His heart to the people around me. And so we can just pray for them. We can give them a word of encouragement. We can share a promise from the Scriptures. We can help them with a project. We can pray for a physical need if they're sick. We can go all the way down to providing financial resources if that's what's needed. But the vast majority of situations, it's not too much money that's needed as it is spiritual ministry. And so that's a way in which we certainly give as well. Like Fox Trump was saying, and I think it's an important thing that we just speak, situationally aware and ministerially sensitive to the need and meet that need with the resources that we have. All right, other comments? Please come down. PDI? PDI, go ahead, David. Yeah, I just wanted to follow up. I appreciate Will's comments because that comment on prayer is so horrible and it needs to be done. Sometimes that's all you can do, read his case in the prayer. And thank you, Will, for bringing that up because prayer is such a powerful thing and we need to always have that first. When I went on some of these mission trips as well, Max, there were people that needed a lot of things. The need was far greater than the gift in which we brought. So great wisdom and prayer had to be done in order to ensure that you help those who were most in need without offending the others. And how does that happen? Well, you've got to look at each case as you do it privately. And make sure that you let them know, please don't tell everybody else that I've done this, because then they're going to just swarm you. as well. You help her, you need to help me or you help him, you need to help And so you've got to look at the units as they are there and then address it accordingly. Same way when the church where I attend now, we support a preacher there in the Philippines. I met him personally. I traveled with him. I got to know his heart and know his spirit and his ability. And so in doing that, one of the first questions we ask, again, I think this is wisdom that God would have us to do, is, "Okay, are you receiving funds from other churches?" And if so, how much are you receiving? because I'm not going to get a supportive preacher that has all this other money coming in and that's just not right. They make a lot of money. In the Philippines, you give a preacher $500 a month and that's even high on the hog, if you will. That's a lot of money. And so you have to check to see how many other congregations. And so those are just wisdom and prayer and doing it in that fashion. Also, when a preacher starts to go out and he wants to go travel all over, like the Philippines, preaching in all these congregation, because he's all about reputation, or his reputation. I told him, I said, "What about your local congregation where you're at? Are you building it?" Yeah, that's more important than going out and getting your name everywhere. And so there's a lot of wisdom in current that has to be done. Thank you, Will, for bringing that up as well. Kilo Kilo 7, Papa Joe, to get you back to your head. Yeah, David, Walt said, "Supervising, um, the gifts and their implementations is a big, big task. I did receive a comment from Darrell WB7AOT, and he said this. Another difference between a church giving and socialism is that with socialism, everyone gets money whether or not they are lazy and don't want to work, or if they end up spending what they receive on their expenses. addictions. But with the church, the church gives to the poor using discernment and not giving to someone who is not willing to help themselves or wants to spend it on their addictions. And Darrell, that's well said. Not only is the giving voluntary, but the giving is also done with discriminations. which means that you discriminate between those who are worthy and those who are not. You're not discriminating by race or by sex or by age or by ethnicity, but you are discriminating by worthiness. And so in... biblical giving, not only is there no coercion, there is also discrimination between who is worthy and who is not. And that makes the giving actually a blessing instead of a curse. Because if you give to someone... who is unwilling to work, you're subsidizing their laziness and encouraging more of it. You know, what you subsidize, you get more of, right? And so you have to be careful what incentives are you providing by the giving that you are doing, because whatever you're giving to, you're going to get more of it. And if you give money to support someone's addiction, they're just going to go on the addiction. So I think, you know, another principle that I found valuable just from personal experience, okay, is, and it kind of goes along with what David was saying, and that is, you know, to give a lot to a few is better than to give a little to many. So when you find someone who is worthy, like this pastor, you know, giving him $500 a month because you know him, You know what he's doing. He's better than giving $10 a month to 50 people, and you really don't know who they are or what they're doing or you're not able to keep track of them and whether they're being responsible. So a lot to a few as opposed to a little bit to a large number, I think, makes the giving more effective. creates greater accountability and focuses the resources where they can actually accomplish something of significance. All right, other corvettes, please come down. PWM. Brian, KJ7 PWM, go ahead. As we were talking about the difference between socialism to the group that's to Bruce Eames from yesterday, That's why that's in there. and get out of your base. So that's like the, that's the the center. The center of the CWF. Okay, Brian, I was unable to copy your comment. Can anybody give me a relay on what Brian said, please, from now on? Yeah, Papa Alfred. Paul Talfa, Cleve Square. Yeah, uh, uh, Brian, we're doubling down with just exactly how you, uh, just got done laying out. Uh, I think what Darryl's comment, uh, between, uh, the giving that we're talking about and the, uh, the moving around of... and socialism. And he says it just nails it there in verse 8. That's what he was pointing out there, Matt. Yeah, real good. So verse 8, we were scripture reading yesterday... It says, I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others and to prove the sincerity of your love. Okay? And others were commenting about the fact that this needs to proceed out of love. And, you know, Brian KJ7 PWM is exactly correct here. And that is that the difference between socialism and Christian giving is that it's not commanded. It's not coerced. It is – sorry, Brian, I accidentally dialed your number. That was my bad. Let's see. Back to my train of thought here. Here's the wrong button on my phone. Let's see. He says, "I speak not by commandment, but by the taste and affordance of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love." So, there's no coercion in Christian giving. There's no force that is applied. And so it's voluntary. So the difference in Christian giving and socialism are two. There's no coercion, it's voluntary, that's principle number one. And principle number two, it's discriminatory, it's not given comprehensively or universally, okay? so it's voluntary and it's discriminatory which whereas socialism it's coerced it's forced at the point of a gun where everybody gets some of the distribution whether they're worthy or not and that's the problem when you have government programs they're taking it away by forced and they're giving it to people who are completely unworthy of it, and that's why we've got a lot of the problems in our nation that we have today. Government should never be in the business of redistributing wealth. The redistribution of wealth should always be voluntary. Otherwise, It shouldn't be there. All right, Ted. We're out of time here. We need to stop. Are there any final comments or prayer requests? Please come down. All right. Scott, M7, if you could close and perform, that's great. All righty. Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Father, we're so thankful that you made out this scripture about the generosity in giving. And we look inward at our own personal walk and how we fit into this teaching. And then we open that up and we look how this works in our church families and then above and beyond. And it's... There's a lot to glean here. And we see this throughout the land. Some folks that haven't zeroed down on this teaching, perhaps they don't understand the agape love that you have. So, Father, I just pray over each and every one of us around this table this morning that we... Look at just that. And Father, we are around this table here. We have many, many, many. I could go on for 15, 20 minutes just picking out the different ministries that are around this table and give examples on how they reach out. You know, we just stop and think for a second. You know, right now, Doc is in the Philippines. a regular, you know, if he was here in the States, he would have a chair and he would be around the table this morning. But he's stopped it, giving his time and his intellect, his experience, and he's taking that to the mission field and blessing others through his experience and wisdom in medicine. how great is that? And there's many, many other You know, Will just got back from Louisiana, walking door to door. And Martha Faye just reaching out to those that are in need. Jeff putting together Bibles and putting them on the pallets and on the forklifts and sending them out to the different military servicemen that are cleaning on these Bibles now. What a great need. taking in on us who didn't have a place to live. Father, I could just go on and on and on, and I know I miss a lot, but each and every one of us, bring this to the forefront so those that perhaps aren't there yet, they can see how this works and how this moves. And it all comes through the power of prayer, and that's what brings us in this close this morning. And we, so we take this time and we turn it back and we exalt you and we thank you for everything that you've done done for us. Father, just a simple little blessing. In the shadows, you know, the Apostle Paul silently, in some ways, showed how the Church of Macedonia, he was showing the church in Corinth how this all works, just how I explained around the table just a moment ago. But in the shadows is Pastor Max's generator working to give him power so he can be here this morning reading out. And we are so thankful, so thankful and so blessed that Matthew and Kathy had the intellect, the understanding that this was a tool that could be a valuable resource and in turn give back to praise the Lord who built the kingdom. And he was able to do just that with this generator this morning. And we give you praise that Marion, just two short years, you know, 700 days from her 100th birthday, and just a week or two later. It was looking great, and it still is. But she's improving, and we give you the glory in that. So we heard reports today that Bob and Sandy and Emma are back on their feet now. And what, six months ago, they were in this horrific head-on crash just south of McMinnville. I went through there yesterday and can tell that that could be a dangerous stretch of highway. and we were blessed this morning that we heard Jim, and then we also heard Alex, the bookends, and then all of us fit in between Jim's elder age and Alex's youthful age, and then the rest of us fit in there in some form. All of the band of brothers and sisters, and it was just so good to hear Jim and Alex be the bookends this morning. Father, we give you a book of Will and his part of his ministry. And it was a wonder of our hearts that we heard this report that Rita was found and returned home. And, Father, we just give you the glory in that. Father, we give you the glory that Lee, 807KG, in his senior year, you know, up in the 80s, He still has the strength and all the functions to be able to jump in his rig and drive all the way to Cape Junction, to Bible Camp, and get out and do all the landscaping chores there as they return in this ministry. And this is another icon that we can click on when we look at all the ministries that are gathered around the Manhattan. And this is me, what God has put me through. on Lee's heart with his talent in landscaping and gardening. So this is what this looks like and what we studied this morning. Father, with that, with a heavy heart, we want to lift up Sam and Stephanie with the loss of this baby. And, Father, we just pray that the peace that passes all understanding will come upon Sam and Stephanie and that we know that you have the baby in your arms and you have some sympathy and say in the cup of your hand. And as they search for answers, I just pray for comfort for them. And I pray for Dan, Mike's friend, who Mike's been really struggling with. His head is getting long, along with Glenn's. But I come back and I lift up the end of you and I just pray that this mass on his liver, that we pray that the doctors that are attending the end of this this issue that Dan is having, that it can dissipate, and whatever Dan needs, Father, that those around him attending to him can put Dan on a path of healing. Father, we are lifting up Sandy's results to you this morning. He is awaiting his biopsy and the results thereof. As Father, with a band of brothers and sisters around this table, We reach out and we grab. Each one of us are each other's hands, the one to the right and the one to the left. And with one voice, we cry out and we ask for a positive result for Sandy and a comfort for Craig and those that are around in this situation. So we lift up Sandy to you this morning. Father, there's many ministries out there. You know, I spoke earlier about a dock in the mission field, and I spoke of Jeff. Operation Worship Ministry. Father, I lift up the fellowship of Christian Wonders as we are continuing to work and keep a block of time, but it's all done in love. So we lift up the missions and the missionaries, whether they're across the street or across the pond, regardless, all working and moving and building your kingdom. And with that, Father, we look at the churches. And Father, I pray for the health of the churches. Amen. And we do too, we ask for wisdom for those on the signing committee for Kevin and Will and Dave's church, the Calvary Baptist Church. And we just pray that this one man that seems to be rising to the top. cream in one milk bucket. This one man, if he's the one, Father, we just pray that that door, that double doors will open up wide open. And Father, if he is not the guy, Father, we just pray that those doors grow shut. Father, we also pray for the pastor there at Walla Walla University, Albert, who it looks like perhaps he may be tapped. And Father, we pray for the same situation. We pray for Al's church as he's leaving now and headed to fill the breakfast with him in there. We pray that he can bring that church a pastor also. Father, we lift up Chris and his salvation. You know, we talk about the different ministries. We see Brian working and moving in a lot of different ways. We just give Brian the encouragement that he needs as he attends to Chris and shares the gospel story. Professor Panker, Brian's waiting. and she steps out in this new venture. And, Father, I just pray that it can be successful. And she seeks your face as she guides this new venture. Father, I lift up Mark. Didn't hear Mark this morning, but W7UA is an R. We have lift up Mark. Mark Gossett, we've left up Tyler, who's struggling from a drug addiction. We also left up Mark's mom, Brian, who, along with a lot of us, have these health issues as we come around the three-quarter pole. Father, we look back over our communities, and we just cry out for those that are unfazed and those that are unchurched and those that need to hear and believe the gospel, their heart can be opened the cover is that are over their eyes and ears can drop and they can hear the gospel story and shake your face and invite you into your heart. This is what it's all about, Father. And, Father, as we prepare to go close, we just exalt you for your goodness. We cry out in thankfulness for your mercy and your grace. And with that, Father, all of us around this table, as this comes through your Son, Jesus, we all say, Amen. Dr. Eumax, WB7MAX, and 7MPA. Thank you so much for that prayer, WB7MX, your net control for the West Coast Bible Study. I want to thank all the states that you checked in this morning. Turn your notices goodbye to give us a clear operating frequency. We meet here seven days a week at 6 a.m. in order to read the scriptures, understand their meaning, message, and application, and then pray for grace and mercy to be able to live out what we learn and for God to meet the needs of those that are in our circle of fellowship. I'll be returning this frequency now to regular amateur use. This is WB7MX. I'll be clear and standing by. *Mach starting light, AK6OK* Jeff, I saw you there on the FDR and we checked you in and appreciate you being there and don't worry about being late, we're just glad you get here when you can. How you doing brother? Doing great, doing great getting that ordnance lined up and ready to go. Gonna ship on Wednesday and just trying to find a pallet big enough to serve you as big as possible, we'll get it. Yeah, copy that. I might have to build a pallet to be able to handle that. sure exactly how Forklift handles all those big, funny, bulky items, but I've got a great big pallet that I put all my garbage cans on that somebody built for something. It works really well. It's like five feet wide and eight feet long, and I've got it propped up on some brick, and my garbage can's sitting on top of it, so they're not sitting in the mud. So yeah, I'm going to have to actually build the pallet. It'll work The possibility you might have to miss this, though, is going to have to be six feet long. And I think it should be able to get on there with that. But, hey, this is hard, but it's so much fun. Copy that, yeah. Shipping can be a real pain in the neck. I wind up shipping books around the world, and that is a royal pain in the neck. So, anyway, I sympathize and understand. Yeah, thanks. Thanks for the learnin'. Have a good weekend. We got a rodeo here this weekend that our granddaughters get at the end. So, you should all have a good time out there. And you guys all have a great weekend. Alright, real good. Well, got your granddaughters participating in that. And just hope you guys keep your safe. Jeff AK6OK73U, WB7MX, cleared for landing, bye OK, what's the joke? Yeah, what's the joke, Beck? Hold on a second Yeah, we're all in, Jeff, I'm dating you, WB7MX Okay, this is Steve Patrick with the corned beef right now. Um, this is Steve. We can smell that corned beef and we're all jealous. Um, maybe while I'll get in our helicopters and fly down to your place and get them out of the frying pan there. Okay, why was the broom late to class? Why was the broom late to class? Anybody got an answer? The broom was late to class because it overswept. It overswept. Ha ha ha ha ha! That's good, Beck. Thanks for that. Yeah, kind of like Jeff AK6OK. He overswept this morning.
