Scott, W6YSI, prayed for the study, setting a reverent tone for the discussion.

#### Paul's Address to the Church in Corinth

The study began with a review of 1 Corinthians, where Paul addresses several issues within the Corinthian church, including division, immorality, and practices related to meat offered to idols. These issues reflect the broader themes of unity and purity within the Christian community. The discussion highlighted the importance of addressing these issues through a lens of love and grace, emphasizing the need for reconciliation and understanding among believers.

#### Lord's Supper: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34

Jerry, AE70R, read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, which forms the core of this study. The passage discusses the Lord's Supper, emphasizing the importance of proper observance and the dangers of engaging in selfish behavior during the ceremony. David, KK7PDI, provided insightful commentary on the Lord's Supper, noting that it is not merely a symbolic act but a profound moment of communion with Christ.

- **Proper Observance**: The study emphasized the importance of adhering to the prescribed order and elements of the Lord's Supper, specifically bread and wine. Participants discussed the need to avoid public selfishness and disorderliness, which can detract from the spiritual significance of the ceremony.
- **Symbolism**: The bread and wine symbolize Christ's body and blood, representing His sacrifice for humanity. The group reflected on the importance of reverence and mental engagement during the ceremony, recognizing the deep theological significance of the Lord's Supper as a remembrance of Christ's substitutionary atonement.
- **Frequency**: There was a lively discussion on how often the Lord's Supper should be observed. Opinions varied, with some advocating for regular observance to maintain a strong spiritual connection, while others emphasized the importance of quality over frequency.
- **Theological Significance**: The Lord's Supper was linked to the Passover, highlighting the continuity between the Old and New Testaments. Participants noted the substitutionary atonement of Christ, emphasizing that the Lord's Supper is a reminder of Christ's sacrifice for the sins of the world.

#### Themes and Discussion Questions

- **Unity and Division**: How can we foster unity within our communities, and what are the dangers of division?
- **Submission and Headship**: What does the concept of headship mean in the context of the Lord's Supper, and how does it relate to submission and rebellion?
- **Reverence and Attitude**: How can we cultivate a spirit of humility and reverence during the Lord's Supper, and what does this look like in practice?
- **Frequency of Observance**: What are the benefits and challenges of observing the Lord's Supper frequently, and how can we ensure that it remains meaningful?
- **Theological Significance**: How does the Lord's Supper connect to the Passover and Christ's sacrifice, and what does this teach us about salvation?

All right, there's Peter, and he says good morning to everyone. Finally saw that, Peter, appreciate that. And we got you hooked up. Okay, any other check-ins, come now. Any relays? All right, it is 6:00 and it is time for us to get started with the West Coast Bible study. This is WB7MX, Net Control. And we are looking at verses 17 to 34. Now, Paul, as we are aware, is dealing with a lot of problems in the church at Corinth. And one of those problems that we've seen him dealing with is the issue of division back in the early chapters. And then he dealt with immorality in the church in chapter 5 and 6. And then the issue of divorce and remarriage in chapter 7. in singleness. And then in chapters 8 through 10, the whole issue of meat offered to idols, the support of ministers of the Gospels, and the whole issue of learning from the Old Testament saints and the mistakes they made not to follow in their pathway. And then, once again, assessing the utilization of our Christian liberty by the standard of what is going to make my testimony credible and receptive to the lost and what is going to accommodate the weak conscience of my brethren and then thirdly what's going to bring glory to God we closed out chapter 10 with this wonderful statement in verse 31 whether therefore you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God so We want to honor God. We want to bless our brethren. We want to have a credible testimony of our own lives before the lost in the face of whatever their prejudices may be. And so, therefore, we restrict our Christian liberties. Now, in Chapter 11, we've been dealing with this issue of male headship and the rebellion that was being manifested by some against male headship by casting off the cultural custom of head covering that expressed... the recognition of male headship and female subordination to that headship in the area of work, in the area of role, in the area of function in society, but not in the area of worth and equality and value. So just as the members of the Trinity are all equal with each other, and yet the Son does the will of the Father in the same way, husbands and wives are equal with each other, but the wife submits to the leadership of the husband. That brings us then to our new section today, which deals with the issue of the Lord's Supper and how it is supposed to be observed, what it's all about, and how it was being perverted at the church at Corinth. And so we're going to see that there was a lot of selfish behavior here that was a contradiction of celebrating the selfless sacrifice of Jesus. How can we celebrate the selfless sacrifice of Jesus when we are engaging in selfish behavior toward our Christian brethren while we're observing the ordinance? That doesn't work. So we have to conduct ourselves at the Lord's Supper in such a way that's congruent with the message and the meaning of that ordinance. It's kind of like trying to celebrate Christmas with a stolen Christmas tree. It just doesn't work, right? And so anyway, you can't celebrate Christ coming to deliver us from sin by committing sin. And in the same way you can't celebrate a Christ's sacrifice on the cross... by conducting yourself in a way that just contradicts that message in the way in which you treat others. So that's our passage today. Before we get started, we want to open our time together in prayer. And so, Steve, W6YSI, could you please open in prayer for us this morning? Okay, let's bow before the Lord. Thank you again for another new day, dear Lord. look forward to the Bible study this morning, and we just pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare our hearts, Lord, that we would be teachable, that we would have a right and willing spirit, and Lord, we know that your word is so important for us, and we need to hear what you have to say, and we just pray that... help us to hear what your message to us is, what we read this morning in Jesus' name. Amen, Steve. Thank you so much for that prayer. All right, Jerry AE70R is going to read for us 1 Corinthians 11, verses 17 to 34. That's verse 17 to the end of the chapter. Go ahead there, Jerry. But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you because you come together, not for the better, but for the worse. For in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that divisions exist among you, and in part I believe it. For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you. Therefore, when you meet together, it is not to eat the Lord's supper. For in your eating, each one takes his own supper first, and one is hungry and another is drunk. What? Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? For you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing. What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? And if I will not praise you? For I have received from the Lord that which I have delivered to you. that the Lord Jesus, in the night in which he was betrayed, took bread. And when he had given, saying, He broke it, and said, This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way he took the cup also after supper, saying, This cup is a new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it. in remembrance of thee. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Therefore, whoever eats a bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. For the man must examine himself, and in doing so he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he does not judge the body right way. For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and in number sleep. But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. For when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world. So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will arrange when I come. Back to you at verse 12, chapter 12, with 8, 8, 7, and 8. Jerry, good reading. Thank you for that. Good clear signal. Alright, any comments on this passage that Jerry read to us? Please come down to call site. PDI. David, KK7 PDI, please lead us off. Yeah, thank you, Max. Paul is setting forth here very clear to the church in Corinth that they had taken the Lord's Supper and had actually made a mockery of it in a sense because they are showing that it is like a common meal to them. They have departed from the significance of the Lord's Supper and the institution of the Lord's Supper and what it was to commemorate. the death, the burial, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and he gave his life upon that cross. So then he has to set forth very clear in this chapter, in verse 23, when he says what he said there with regard to, you know, the Lord's Supper. And it's just terrible what's the place, and then he has to correct it. I dealt with this as well when I was on missionary work over in the Philippines. We visited a couple of congregations, and they had totally taken away from the design that was set up here. As Paul instituted, the Lord suffered, the Lord instituted. It's a tall recalling of here, 1 Corinthians 11, verse 43, when he says, For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you. that the Lord Jesus on the same night that he was betrayed took bread. And so what they did in the Philippines is they would give thanks for the Lord's Supper, and then they would just pass out the fruit of the vine on one side of the congregation and the bread on the other, and then they would switch and go to the other. Well, they forgot the order in which it was to be done, to give thanks for the bread first, and you deal with that, and then you give thanks for the fruit of the vine, and then you pass that out. And so I think it's important to follow the way that God said, and what his word says, and not to deviate from it. That's what Paul's correcting them here. I know that's a lot. Tilo Tilo 7, Papa Delta India. Back to you, Matt. Yeah, David, thank you for that illustration. And I really appreciate the point that you're making there, because, you know, when you change the symbol, you change what it represents and speaks about. Right. And so it's really important to employ the symbol in exactly the way that the Lord Jesus taught us and the way the Apostle Paul taught us. And we're not free to innovate in relationship to that. So, for example, the American flag is a symbol of the United States. And let's say you made an American flag, but you just didn't put the stars on it. Well, by changing the symbol, you change the meaning of that symbol. Or maybe you didn't put the red stripes in, and you changed those to some other color of stripes. Well, you know, you change the meaning by changing the symbol. So that's the reason why it's so important to have the symbol be accurate so that it accurately conveys the message that it was intended to convey. So by mixing things up, They were changing the message and thus perverting the message. So one of the things I've seen is people innovating with the Lord's Supper and they wind up using potato chips and Kool-Aid instead of bread and wine. You're not allowed to do that. When you change the symbol, you change its meaning. So a strict adherence to the order of presentation of the elements and the nature of the elements themselves, which need to be bread and wine, that is what has been prescribed, and that's what we need to follow. So thank you, David, for teaching us that we shouldn't innovate or change any aspects of these ordinances of either the Lord's Supper or baptism that the Lord has given to us. All right, other comments, please come down. PDI, quick follow up. PDI follow up, go ahead. Yeah, Mac, let me give you just one other scenario that took place, where one day the Lord's Supper, a brother who was leading that Lord's Supper, decided to make a change without following the scriptures and had to be stopped. And that was he decided to go ahead and give thanks for the cop, the fruit of the vine, prior to giving thanks for the bread. So he wanted to switch the order, and it had to be stopped. And told, "No, you will do it according to the Scriptures. The bread first, then the fruit of the vine." If we start to make any changes with regards to the order in which it was presented, then we deviate from what God has asked us to do, and we are in error. You cannot allow that to happen. That's the very thing we had to correct in the Philippines, and now they're doing it correctly now. They're doing it the way that the Bible teaches us to do it. God's Word first, man's feelings and what he might want to do is never going to justify what God wants you to do. He will see you repent of your prophet, and give back to you now. Yeah, and thank you for the additional illustration. We are not smarter than God. And if He has said that there's a way in which things are supposed to be done, then we need to just humbly submit to that, follow that, and not change it. And, of course, the body had to be broken before the blood flowed, right? And so that's why we celebrate the giving of Christ's body before the shedding of His blood. All right, the net would like to acknowledge Doc W6RLJ. Doc checked in by way of text message. Doc, appreciate you being there and listening in today. We got you, brother. Okay, any other comments on this passage or anything in it? Please come out. Pop Alpha. Pop Alpha, go ahead. Well, what jumped out at me, Max, a little bit is when... when we're being, when we immerse ourselves in communion, the there in 27, it says in an unworthy manner. And I've been praying about this this week. I've been tapped to give the communion message. And I know what this Sunday is. And it's going to be difficult for some to keep their focus on on the communion thought because they're thinking about the football game after the service, you know, the Super Bowl. Well, the angle that I'm taking, Max, is we have something so much bigger than the Super Bowl. later. We have right now the super supper. And focus on the cross and then deliver it in a way that David was sharing. And drilling down into this unworthy manner because it's an opportunity for those that lead communion messages to really with the Lord's guidance and counsel to take each one that's participating, take their spiritual walk to a deeper, deeper, deeper level. And this is the center of the service, is the partaking of communion there, Max. And come and MPA. Yeah, Scott, really well said. I just want to say by way of a side to everybody that I got my SDR scored away. I was on the wrong frequency. That's why I was getting all that noise. In any event, that was all on me, all my fault. Okay, Scott, back to your comment. You are exactly correct. You know, to eat and drink unworthily means to partake of the Lord's Supper in a manner that violates its meaning and its significance. It doesn't mean that if we have sinned during the week before, we're not supposed to take the Lord's Supper. If that were the case, none of us would ever be able to take the Lord's Supper. A general sense of sinfulness or specific acts of sin in the last few weeks is not what makes us unworthy to partake, because if that was the case, none of us would ever be worthy to partake. So this whole idea of unworthiness in taking the Lord's Supper has to do with, and is explained by, the context. And the context here is that people were engaging in eating ordinary food. They were bringing their food to church to eat a meal, and they were eating it, gorging themselves, those who had lots of food and others who had no food. They weren't sharing their food with them at all. And so they were being selfish. And so the disorderliness here was trying to celebrate the selfless sacrifice of Christ while engaging in acts of public selfishness in front of the people. The other thing was they were combining their potluck meal, if you will. It wasn't even potluck. Everybody brought their own food. They didn't share it all. But then they were combining that with the Lord's Supper. So they had a public meal combined with the Lord's Supper. So that was the other disorderly aspect. When people come to the Lord's Supper, Scott, with improper attitudes, either an attitude of irreverence or an attitude of careless passivity or complete distraction where their mind is on something else, or when they view it in a superstitious way, or when they're being selfish or disorderly or indifferent. That's what it means. And so your situation here, Scott, where, you know, on Sunday everybody's thinking about the Super Bowl instead of thinking about the Lord's Supper, that is what it means to partake in an unworthy fashion. And so when we are taking the Lord's Supper, we're looking at him, what he's done, what he's achieved for us, We're looking back at His death on the cross. We're looking forward to His second coming. We're proclaiming our faith in Him by our participation in His ordinance. And that's the orderly way in which to partake of the Lord's Supper. And the disorderly way is to do so with indifference or with distractedness. or with superficiality or with some sort of distracted selfishness, you know, looking at your phone while the pastor is talking about the Lord's Supper, thinking about putting that load of laundry in the washing machine when you get home, all of that is what it means to partake of the Lord's Supper in an unworthy fashion. And so when we come with a careless or irreverent or distracted spirit without the intention or desire to commemorate the death of Christ as a sacrifice for our sins, then we're eating and drinking unworthily. So you, Scott, are right on. And I really encourage you, to challenge the people, as you said, to focus on the Lord's Supper and not on what may be happening afterward. Great comment, Scott. Back to you. Well, also thinking, Max, you know, you don't— when you're tapped to give the communion message, this is a serious, serious challenge. part of the service and you seek God's faith in how this all transpires and another thing that I was that's laid on my heart that people may not realize but there's many people coming from many different directions to the service. And when they're doing that, when they're getting up out of bed, when they're getting dressed and getting ready, when they get in their cars, or some of them are close enough to walk to the service, All that is the beginning of this service. And this goes green back into Ezekiel 12 in the Passover lamb, all pointed to this particular service that's coming up. on Sunday. So it's, you know, these are the things that have been going through my mind as I want to articulate this in the proper way and put it all together. And ultimately, this cannot be taken lightly there, Matt. And 7MPA. Yes, that's well said, and you're exactly right. What Jesus did at the Last Supper is He transformed the Passover into the Lord's Supper. And so the Passover was, of course, a picture of the sacrificial blood of Christ protecting people from the wrath of God. You remember they put the blood on the doorpost from the lamb they sacrificed. And so Jesus took certain elements and carried them forward, other elements He discarded, and He completely transformed the Passover into the Lord's Supper. So you're right. You know, when we come to the Lord's Supper, we've got to come with a proper attitude. There needs to be a humble reverence for the ceremony and the one that represents. We have to have an active mental engagement. in remembering and reflecting on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We have to have a renewal of our commitment and belief and trust in Jesus as our Redeemer, our King, and as our coming Judge. And there needs to be an outpouring of praise and thankfulness to Christ for having saved me from my sins. And so these are proper attitudes. This is what it means to eat worthily of the Lord's Supper. And so we have this attentiveness. We have this heart engagement. We have these mental thoughts about who Jesus is, what he's done, who he is to me, the fact that he's coming back, and the fact that he has saved me from my sins. All of those thoughts going through our mind as the ceremony is being conducted. is what it means to eat and drink in a worthy fashion. So, Scott, excellent analysis there and expression. And we'll be praying for you, brother, as you prepare and as you preach this coming Sunday, that the people in your church would be thoroughly engaged with Jesus and who he's done and what he's done and who he is and not be distracted by what might happen after the service. All right, other comments? Anybody want to comment here? Please come on. Is that exactly it? Okay, we got a double there and I did hear two stations. I was able to pick up Mark KJ7PBT. Other stations, stand by and I'll get to you as soon as I'm done with Mark. Go ahead there, Mark. Yes, ma'am. Thank you. In just a couple of chapters that we've been reading, we've been discussing amongst ourselves how the world tries to take what God has told us to do, what the Lord is telling us to do, the way he's telling us to act, as explained by Paul to this church, and flip it on its head and make it completely different. So as an example, we see men trying to be... like women, women trying to be like men, and we have lots of different examples in that area, and we won't go into that, but I want to key in on this particular verse, I think it's 36, where Jesus says, "Take ye this as my body, "which is broken for you. "Do this in remembrance of me." There's two things in there, one is, this is my body, which is broken for you, and for you, and for you. of his body for us. And we do just remember that. That's why he introduced it so that we can remember that over and over. And we never lose sight of that. The point that I want to make is that, you know, Jesus says, and I think we talked about this before, Jesus says, that this is my body. And he is giving his body for us. So the sinless The sinless body, the innocent body, has tried to get into us. And our salvation for the weak will be saved. The world tries to get that out of the head. And they say, "This is my body. I am going to death." But I say, "This is a man. This is a person for me." It's completely the opposite. It is a... Especially, for example, in abortion, people sacrifice an innocent person for themselves. And so that is completely inappropriate. I know in Islam, if they kill someone in jihad, that is their redemption. So it's just the exact opposite, the exact inversion. of what Jesus did. He laid down his life for us. People are saying, oh, you know, I need to kill other people in order for me to be saved. So the world has all sorts of perversions of Christian doctrine, and we really see it in this area. So Mark, thanks for that thought. Okay, there was another station on top of Mark. Other station, come now. Oh, there's Kevin. Kevin, we got you checked in. You got a comment for us. Go ahead. Well, thank you, Max. And very good comments all the way around. You know, this is an important text. And of course, this is an important topic because it is one of the two ordinances that the church was given there. And I think you talked about a little bit of a baptism at the Lord's Supper. here. One of the things I just wanted to emphasize is the remembrance aspect of it. It is a memorial and a remembrance of what Christ did for us. It's just pointed out very well there. And Scott, I appreciate the reverence. And David, you talked about this too, the reverence. and that it's important and it's brought out here. The consequence of not doing so is also pointed out here, and that it brings judgment upon ourselves if we don't approach it with the right reverence and in the right approach. And that is, you know, one, he talks about being divisions among themselves. We need to be at the right with our brother and have our focus on what this is. This is a memorial. This is a remembrance of what Christ did for us. And we see through the church age, if you will, you know, different versions of this from transubstantiation, consubstantiation, and then properly, generally, you know, as a memorial, as as I think a lot of us focus on. And it is pointed out here very clearly. And then you also have divisions that have developed over the years of closed communion, closed communion, and open communion. And that's really a different discussion. But I think there can be discernments made from here too. But the important thing is, I think... One point I just want to make is that sometimes if you have issues, if you're not coming to the Lord's table right with God and right with your brother, properly discerning the focus of this, you are better off just to abstain from partaking of the Lord's temple until you address those issues and can come to the table in the right manner. KB7, Zedekian. Yeah, you know, there's lots and lots of ways in which the Lord's Supper has been perverted. You pointed out a number of them. And in particular, the Roman Catholic Church teaches transubstantiation, that this is a real sacrifice, and there is a real body and real blood by way of this transubstantiation through the actions of the priests. And the priest takes the actual wine and the actual bread and turns it into the actual body and the actual blood of Jesus. I have a whole message on Sermon Audio on transubstantiation as to why that is not a biblical doctrine. And so, as Kevin said, these are symbols. of Jesus, these are not Jesus himself. Romans chapter, strike that. Hebrews chapter 10, verses 10 to 14, make it very clear, three times it says there that Jesus made one sacrifice once for all. And so we don't sacrifice Jesus over and over and over again. Um, Because that would be to declare the inadequacy of the sacrifice. That's why they had to sacrifice animals over and over and over again, because they could never take away sin. And if you have to sacrifice Jesus over and over again, what you're saying is he can't take away sin. With one sacrifice, he's got to do it again and again and again. So in any event, transubstantiation is one of those perversions. Consubstantiation is another, in which the real presence of Christ is said to be attached to the elements themselves. And so that's the Lutheran doctrine. And then, of course, there's the memorial doctrine, which has been the position of most of Protestantism, other than Lutheranism, forever, which recognized that the bread and the wine are symbols of the body and blood of Christ. They are not the body and blood of Christ, and Christ does not exist in them in any way, or with them in any way. We look past the symbols to the one that they represent, And so, you know, it's just like, you know, you have a wedding ring. Most of you have wedding rings on. What is this? That's a symbol of your marriage. It's not your marriage. That's a symbol of your marriage. And so you look past the wedding ring to your marriage partner. And that's where your focus is. And the symbol is wonderful, and the symbol is great, and the symbol is to be respected. But the symbol is not the reality itself. the symbol merely depicts the reality. And so that's what we're doing. We have the bread and the wine at the Lord's Supper. We're looking past that to the one that those things represent. We're focusing on Him and who He is and what He's done for us, and we're remembering Him. and we're also renewing our faith in Him, and we're also looking forward to His coming again. And this is a very serious ceremony. You'll notice at the end of this passage that if it is perverted, that brings judgment from God, and very severe judgment. So this is not something to fool around with at all. We need to take this very seriously because it's at the core of the Gospel, because it's focusing on the person and the work of Jesus. And so therefore, we don't want to pervert the Gospel by perverting the ceremonies. And so when Jesus says, this is my body, this is my blood, he's saying, this represents my body, this represents my blood. He's speaking by way of metonymy. For example, when Jesus says, I am the door, is he a literal piece of wood that's 32 inches wide and 70 inches tall and an inch and a half thick? Well, of course not. So we understand he's using that word by way of metonymy. And it's the same way here. He's saying, "This is my body. This is my blood." He's saying, "This represents my body. This represents my blood." All right, other comments, please come down. YSI, PDI. Okay, YSI first and then PDI. YSI, go ahead. To me the emphasis, and this is where I've always thought, and I think it's biblical, Jesus in 24 and 25 is saying, "Do these in remembrance of me." Why do we need to remember? First of all, we need to remember this, is that we have a tendency, not a tendency, it's a proneness to forget. And you know, we probably ought to do it every week, and some churches do communion service every Sunday. But we have this tendency, this proneness, to forget what Christ did for us. We've got three weeks to think about what the world's doing and think about me. Oh, I've got to think about me and what I want and what I... You know, that kind of stuff. But we need to be reminded what Jesus did. You were born in trespasses and sin. You were born dead. He made us alive. It was an atonement. It was a propitiation. And we need to be reminded of that. You know, as soon as we get to church on Communion Sunday, we need to be reminded that that's why we're here. We're going to remember why Jesus came. W6YSI. Yes, they well said. It is to the frequency of the observation of the Lord's Supper. Some churches do it every week. Some do it once a month. Sadly, some do it twice a year. Sure. You know, Jesus says, "As often as you eat this bread and drink this wine, you show the Lord's death until he comes." And as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup. And so he didn't specify a frequency. I think it's great if a church does it every week. I think it's adequate if a church does it once a month. But certainly no more seldom than now. And you are so right. We need every week to renew our faith in Christ, our focus on Christ, our trust in Christ. and a renewed appreciation and an act of worship toward Him for what He has done for us. So more is better. And I think that you make an excellent point there. All right, KK7 PDI, go ahead, Dave. Yeah, thank you. I really appreciate Steve's comments. He's just spot on. I appreciate it because when I look again at the apostolic example in Acts 20 and verse 7, it says that the disciples came together upon the first day of the week to break bread. Yeah, we do it every first day of the week. We give, we celebrate the Lord's Supper. We believe the apostolic example is there in Acts 20 and verse 7. It's not talking about a common meal there. When you look at the context and you research it out, you'll see that's the case. But I want to show the respect again. I think it's so important to see this. In John 19... verses 19 to 20, Pilate wrote the inscription and put it on the cross. He read, Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews. Many of the Jews read this inscription because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in three languages, Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. And what's important to see about this is that In the Hebrew language, which would have been for the children of Israel, for the Jews, there's four words that describe Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews. And each word of these four words, when you read right to left, at the beginning of each word stands for the word Yahweh. And so you have Jehovah God, you got Yahweh, that is on the cross, is what the inscription reads. And so that's why the respect is given the way it is. We should never take it lightly. Without him, we are nothing. And because of what he did, we have life eternal. - Yeah, thank you for sharing that, David. Really appreciate that. And I just wanna reinforce what you said, and that is that the Lord's Supper is a symbolic declaration of the very center and core of Christianity, and that is the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ for our sins. His body was broken, His blood was shed, so that we might have an adequate atonement to satisfy God's wrath and God's justice against our sins. And we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. And so without the atonement, there is nothing for us in Christianity. We are hopeless. We are helpless. We are without anything. And so this is the reason why the Lord's Supper is so important. This is the reason why it needs to be treated with such dignity and reverence. This is why we need to enter into it, that seriousness, because it symbolizes and represents the very core of Christianity, the very essence of salvation, the very center of our belief. And therefore, we need to understand it, and we need to get it right, and we need to participate in it properly, and we need to then utilize it as a means of grace. to draw us near to Jesus and to reinforce and deepen our faith in Jesus. All right. We are out of time. Great comments all around. Really appreciate the focus on this passage. And let's all pray for Scott in 7NPA as he brings. the meditation on the Lord's Supper this Sunday in His Church. All right, this is WB7 in the X-Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. Any final prayer requests before I lead us in prayer? Please come down with your call sign. All right, well, let's go to the Lord in prayer. Father, we thank you so much for our Savior, the Lord Jesus. We thank you that He... gave Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice on the cross for our sins. We thank You that Jesus died just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the resurrection by the Spirit. And so, Father, we just pray that You would help us to have a proper attitude, a proper understanding, and a proper behavior, at the Lord's Supper so that it is dealt with with reverence and with faith and with an inward heart interaction with our Savior, who is symbolized in these elements of the bread and the wine. Father, we pray that we would partake in this supper in such a manner that would honor Christ and His intentions when He established this ordinance and gave us directions for His observation. And now, our Father, we want to bring before you the needs of our group. Father, we think especially of our brother Mike, W7TWO. Father, he's got a lot on his plate. And Lord, he needs a lot of supernatural grace and strength and mercy to hold him up. And Lord, we just ask that you would be pleased to comfort his heart over the passing away of his nephew, Dale. Father, we're sorry that Dale didn't win this battle. against this illness that he's had. But Lord, we're grateful. He was on the brink of death. They removed his life support, and he revived. He revived enough to hear the gospel and to declare his embrace of the gospel. Thank you, Father, that Dale did make a clear profession of faith in Jesus. And he had those several weeks where his leg was amputated, but he was able to talk about his faith and his trust in Jesus. And now, Father, he's gone. And, Lord, we just pray for his mother, Barbara, that this would shake her to her core. And, Lord, that she would repent of her sins, that she would trust in Jesus as her Savior. And, Father, we just ask that... you would cause her to really repent of her failure to read the scriptures to Dale when Mike asked her to do it. Father, this woman is in rebellion against you. Her heart is hardened towards you. Lord, break that hard heart. Give her a Damascus Road experience. And Lord, bring her to salvation. Give Mike Keith in dealing with his extended family and all the issues that are involved there. Lord, we thank you for the good news that Randy could be accepted into one of these two apartments. We pray that would happen and that he'd be able to get into suitable housing so he can get through the winter without freezing to death out there in that trailer. And, Father, I just pray that you give Mike wisdom in extracting this excavator from this shipping container. Father, what a logistical challenge that is. And so, Father, give him wisdom so that he can help his friend and they can get this job completed today. with efficiency and effectiveness. And then Father Mike has the temporal arteritis, and Lord, that's weighing on him also. He's got back pain. Lord, there's a lot of issues there. And so, Lord, I pray that Mike would get the proper medication and that you would cure this temporal arteritis. We pray that you would take away his back pain. And Father, all the people around him that have so many needs, that he's ministering to. Father, give him grace and strength for all of those needs. Lord, just surround Mike with your loving arms. Draw him near. Hold him up. And, Father, give him strength. Lord, we just pray that you would have mercy on our dear brother. Father, we just want to thank you today for Jenny's successful hip replacement. Lord, she's now got to go through rehabilitation. And, Lord, there's a lot of pain and difficulty involved there. Give Al and Jerry wisdom in ministering to Jenny. And, Lord, I pray that she would know full mobility. Father, we think of our sister Sandy, W7SAB, who's also waiting for a date for her hip replacement. Father, may that come sooner rather than later. Father, we just want to pray also for this young man, Owen. Glenn KJ7UMW asked us to pray for Owen, who is the pastor's son, who is involved with a gang at 18 years of age, very violent. And Lord, I just pray that you would save Owen out of that darkness and out of that depravity. Lord, we pray for the safety of Glenn's church, that Owen would not come to the church and do anything violent or inappropriate. Father, we just want to praise you today for George K2KJX and the healing of his diverticulitis. Thank you, Father, for that. That's an answer to prayer. And, Lord, we're grateful for that. Father, we just want to pray today for Mike, W7TW's son, Jaden, his grandson, who's immersed in rock and roll culture. Lord, we just pray for his salvation. Lord, have mercy on Jaden. Pull him out of that darkness, that sensuality, and that evil, and bring him into the kingdom of light. where there's peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Father, we just want to pray for a Bethel Alpha Phi Yankee, a friend Anthony, a W7DGM, who's on a long road trip, and he requests traveling mercies for him. Father, be with Anthony as he travels. Guard him from accidents. Give him perception to avoid difficult situations. And Father, as Anthony travels around the country, may he effectively share the gospel with many. Father, we want to pray for our brother Cody, K-7-TRF. We struggle with insomnia. And Lord, we pray that you give him sleep. Lord, many others struggle with insomnia as well. We think of Bert, W-7, R-K-D, and others. Lord, have mercy on each of them and give them sleep. Father, we pray for Cody's niece, Zoe. Thank you that she left her boyfriend, that she's moved in with her grandparents. Father, give them wisdom and grace in ministering to Zoe. May her ears be open. May she repent of her rebellions. And, Father, may she become a sound, solid Christian who lives for you instead of for herself. Father, we just pray for Jeff, AK6OK's niece, Haley. Father, that you would bring her to salvation and that you would also bring her to peace regarding the past injustices that were done to her. Father, just cause her to focus on Jesus. Follow him. and commit her case and care into his hands. Thank you, Father, that Jeff has had an influence in her life. Continue to open doors so that Jeff can continue to minister. Father, our brother Roger WB7VCL is not here today, but Lord, we're praying for his wife, Dailene. Thank you for the good news that her cancer was all contained in the lump. And Lord, I just pray for complete healing on Daylene's heart and that this cancer, having been removed, would never reoccur. Lord, heal her up quickly. Lord, we pray for Autumn, that you would give her a new place to live. Father Roger and Daylene need to focus on Daylene's health. And Lord, I just pray that you would provide Autumn for another place where she can live. We pray for mental stability. We pray that you would help her develop her social skills. especially that you would deliver her from her false theological beliefs and save her. Father, I just ask that you would bring clarity and conversion to Autumn. Father, we just want to pray today for Doug Eshman. We thank you, Father, for his faith in you and his faithfulness to you as the pastor of Chalice Community Church. Lord, give him the ability to teach the scriptures. in a way that is a blessing to the people in the church. And Father, give him peace and comfort in reorganizing his life after his wife Deidre died last summer. And Lord, we just pray that you would give him the real skill as a pastor in that church. Father, we just want to pray for Carol KK7TPO, her son-in-law Chris. who's call sign is KL5SC, who is a believer. Lord, he had angioplasty. We pray for healing from that and also for the future extensive back surgery that he needs to be successful. And so, Lord, just cause Chris to be able to get his back surgery and be relieved from his pain. And, Lord, we want to pray for little Alice, Carol's 7-year-old great-granddaughter. who is a sweet, innocent girl who's being raised in a very ungodly and wicked home. And, Lord, we thank you for Carol's protection. We pray, Lord, that you would draw her to yourself. We pray, Lord, that the Holy Spirit would operate very powerfully in Carol's heart and mind to protect her not only from evil, but also to turn her towards Jesus. May she read the Bible, may she trust in Jesus, and Lord, may your angels camp round about Little Carol and protect her. Father, we just thank you today for your goodness and your mercy and your grace to each one of us, and we thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. Father, we just pray today for Scott N7NPA as he presents Christ this morning. Sunday, I ask the communion service that people would see Jesus more clearly than they ever have before and that they would reverence the Lord's Supper in a deeper, more profound way than they ever have in the past. And Lord, I pray that the secular entertainments of this world would not even remotely enter into people's minds as they contemplate Jesus. A thousand years from now, it's not going to matter who won the Super Bowl, but it's going to matter who died on the cross and what our relationship with Him is. So, Father, help us to focus on the things that matter and the things that are important and to live for them and not for the frivolous entertainment of this world. Father, we ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, this is WB7MAX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Society. We want to thank all the stations who checked in and those who stood by to give us a clear operating frequency. We meet here seven days a week at 6 a.m. in order to read the scriptures, understand their meaning, message, and application, and then pray for grace and mercy to live out what we learned and for God to meet the needs of those that are in our circle of fellowship. I'll be returning this frequency now to regular amateur use. This is WB7MX. I'll be clear and standing by. KK7PDI? David, KK7PDI, go ahead. Hey, Max, I wanted to bring this in earlier, but there just wouldn't be time for the study today. But recently I did a lesson on the eternal God. And I know you've done lessons in Revelation. But when you look at Genesis, the first chapter, when it says, It's in the beginnings. When you look at the word "begin" and you look at it in Hebrew, it means "bearsheet." And when you take that word "bearsheet" and you break down each letter max from right to left, you get the words "be" and "red," "el," "shin," "yod," and "peab." And then when you look at those individual letters in the Hebrew language, "peab" means "proc," "covenant," "yod" means "bad," and you probably know all this, and "shin" means "destroy." El means daughter and noni, Res means the head chef, and Be'et means pet, or the body. And when you break that down and you put the letters together after that, and if this shows at the beginning, you get the word "ben" when you take "be'et" and "resh" together, and that means the son. And then when you take "pah," "yod," and "chin" together, you get "che'et." And in Hebrew, that means thorn. And then when you take the other letters, sh, l, s, and r, s, you get the word "ros" which means "head". And then you get another word when you take these other letters together, and it means "veros" which means "tree". and then it shows again, you know, the cross, and that finally God was the gift of mankind. And so in the beginning, it was already prophesied there that Jesus would die upon the cross. And that's why the Lord's Supper is so very significant. I mean, you've probably done lessons on that, but I just wanted to share that. Keto Keto 7, Papa, tell them, yes. Yeah, well, thank you for that, David. I was completely unaware of that. And, you know, elsewhere in the Bible it says that Jesus was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. So that would reinforce the fact that the one who did the creating, as it says in John chapter 1, is the Lord Jesus Christ. And it's the Lord Jesus Christ who did the creating. was decreed and planned to die on the cross before the world was ever made. So God's eternal plan of creation and of redemption through the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ wasn't something that was made up on the fly. It was something that was planned from eternity past. So, Dave, thanks for sharing the fact that Jesus was there and the plan of redemption was there from the very beginning words of the Scripture. Appreciate that, brother. Back to you there, David. Yeah, like I said, I just did a lesson on it. I've got a copy of that video. But I pointed all that out in the video where it shows just in the word "beginning" in the Hebrew language. And they would have understood that very clearly, that that's the case. Yeah, right. And you know, sadly, I never did learn Hebrew in seminary because the seminary I was at, they didn't have a Hebrew teacher. I do know some. I've studied on my own, but certainly don't have that level of confidence. So thanks for sharing that. I can do Greek real well. Had a couple of years of that, but Hebrew not so much. But anyway, thanks for sharing that, David. I appreciate that. KB7 ZXN Great Bible study this morning, thank you so much I'll be just a little bit and then I gotta get busy Thank you All right, real good David, appreciate you brother, love ya All right, Beck, Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee, what do you got for us? ZXN Yeah, go ahead Kevin, Beck never did check in today So I think that he's not here Kevin, KB7 ZXN, go ahead Yeah, hopefully all is well with Beck. I got here a little late today. Quite a bit late actually, so I apologize for that. But yeah, I appreciate David bringing that out. You know, there's so much in some of the acrostics and even in the language, and of course, what he was bringing out was one of the reasons the high priest was so adamant of wanting to have that taken down. And, you know, as I said, hey, what is done is done. It's staying there because it really declared all the fulfilled work of Christ. One of the things, too, that's fascinating is the study of The Tetragrammaton itself of Jehovah also has a lot of representation within it of, of course, the cross, and Jesus' fulfillment of that as well, and the sacrificial lamb. So, yeah, without a doubt, everywhere you look, the Word of God is certainly written by the Creator outside of time and space, as He, on every level, reveals Himself. and his plan for mankind. So anyway, that was a good little study there that David shared. And anyway, I appreciate your comments today too, Max. KB7 is on the camera. Yeah, real good, Kevin. Thanks for that. You know, the Bible, you know, the scripture says heaven and earth shall pass away, but by words shall never pass away, right? And, you know, the Bible is the expression of the infinite mind of God, and that's why we can set it endlessly and never exhaust it. And I think we're going to be like reading the Bible for all eternity and learning new things and seeing new insights and understanding connections between various doctrines and expressions of God and his glory that we never comprehended before. Sadly, we still have partially. darkened minds and imperfect minds and souls. And so our ability to comprehend the infinite, not only with the finite, but also with the fallen, even though redeemed, nevertheless still suffering some of the effects of the fall, limits our ability to gain that insight. And I am really looking forward to having a better mind that is more clear. and a better heart that is more pure, so that I can better understand the infinite depth of God's Word and of God's glory. And I think throughout all eternity, one of the reasons we're not going to get bored with heaven is because we're always going to be gaining new understanding, new insights, new awareness. of the infinite depth of our God and of his amazing character that is just so multifaceted and of his amazing work that is so profound that we'll never form the depths of it. Back to you there, Kevin. Well said, Max, and I couldn't agree more. You know, as we're going to read about here soon in Paul's text, you know, as if looking through a looking glass, it's a little cloudy and not as clear. We marvel at what we do see and God has opened up to us, but it's just a glimpse of what is coming ahead, and that is quite exciting, honestly. And, too, I just appreciate the comments today. I think there are so many that were spot on and focused on the proper reverence given to the Lord's Supper there. And I really appreciate that in the prayers, too, because I think they go hand in hand. You know, we recognize so much that at least it should cause us to recognize the great sacrifice, the only one innocent, God himself alone. becoming man, that He would sacrifice Himself in such a dramatic way. It's so easy for us to emphasize salvation is a gift and a free gift, and as we should, it is. But that's only because we should also at the same time recognize it came at quite a cost, at that cost of our Lord and Savior giving Himself. a ransom for us. So, yeah, I appreciate the reverence and the soberness that all those that commented on the text today gave it because it deserves that, to be sure. But anyway, I do need to run too, Max. Thank you for all you do here, and I appreciate everyone's comments today. WB7MAX, KB7ZX. All right, real good, Kevin. Thanks for that. Appreciate your fellowship. KB7X and 7-3, have a great day, and just pray that you and Boze will know the Lord's blessing on everything you do today. This is WB7NX. I'm clear and standing by. Anybody else want to chat? I'm here. KK7, PDI, K2KJX Uh, just a second 7, KETO 7, uh, monkey jumping, go ahead Roger, this is George. I sent you an email I found on your website, the Comcast one. So I sent you an email that you would send me that Bible study pack of Pharisees. I'm so interested in that, and I love the fact that God reveals in His Word... even through Hebrew, what the gospel really is. Over. Yeah, I copy that. I studied a little Hebrew, but it was interesting in this study of the eternal God, and you can look at the word in the beginning, the very first verse in the Bibles. in Genesis already shows that it was already planned before the creation of the world that Jesus would go to the cross and die for our sins. And so it's there now that that word begins in the Hebrew and that word "vereshit" again, when you look at the word and break it down into individual letters and look from right to left, you get the, what each letter means. And then when you break those down and you combine it together, you get the sun, you get the thorns, you get the head, you get the cross, and then you get the gift that God was to us for our sin, to prove the effect it is. And without that gift, we would not have eternal life. And so that's all poured out in the very first verse of the Bible. So anyway, yeah, I will send that to you. It recently reached that, and so I will send it to you so that you can see it and listen to it. Actually, I've got the PowerPoint, and I could probably send that to you, because that explains it so much clearer. But I just like to see it through the record, so I'll get that sent to you. Thank you. Keep in people's hands and pop it down to me if you'd like to use it. Roger, roger. Thanks again. I appreciate it. Send it in to me, and I'll log in. Much clearer email. Thanks again. K2KJS. Copy. Thank you. 73, and we'll see you all tomorrow morning. WB7MAX, K2KJX. K2KJX, WB7MAX, go ahead there, George. Yeah, it was great comments today. Sue and I only lived in Jacksonville, Florida, went to a Christian church, which I think is a break off of Church of Christ. with musical instruments, and we used to have communion every Sunday, and I really enjoyed that. That was such a blessing. It kind of brought us all together every Sunday as a body of believers. And I think the church we go to right now is once a month. The other Baptist church we went to, I think it was once every two months or a quarter or something, because I know it's a lot of work. But yeah, it was such a blessing to have, celebrate communion every week over.
