### Bible Study Summary: 1 Corinthians 6:1-8

#### Participants and Check-Ins
The Bible study began with a series of check-ins from various participants, each bringing their unique experiences and backgrounds. Brian (KG7PWM) faded away during the check-in, while Peter (KJ7VA) reported a foggy and cool environment with a temperature of 33 degrees. Philip, Don (KI7PPC), David (KT7PDI), Will (QLX5 Foxtrot), and Mark (W7UAR) also checked in, with Don and Mark using the Utah SDR. Scott (N7NPA) was designated to read 1 Corinthians 6:1-8, and Jerry (AE7) prayed for healing and recovery. Beck (5 Yankee) shared a joke of the day, adding a light-hearted moment to the study.

#### Prayer and Scripture Reading
The study opened with a prayer by WB7MAX, the Net Control, asking for improved band conditions, understanding of Scripture, and healing for those with medical issues. Scott (N7NPA) then read 1 Corinthians 6:1-8, which addresses the issue of lawsuits within the church. The passage highlights Paul's concern over the Corinthian Christians taking each other to court, emphasizing that believers should resolve disputes among themselves and avoid seeking justice from unrighteous judges.

#### Discussion Points and Themes
The discussion centered around several key themes and points:
- **Lawsuits and Pride**: The passage underscores the pride and division that arise when Christians take each other to court. Paul argues that believers should resolve disputes internally, reflecting a higher standard of justice and integrity.
- **Church Discipline and Testimony**: Max (WB7MAX) emphasized the importance of church discipline and the testimony of the church. This involves addressing conflicts within the community to maintain a healthy and unified body.
- **Readiness for Judgment**: Mark (W7UAR) referenced Acts 5:5 and 1 Corinthians 1:4-9, stressing the need for believers to be ready for judgment and to live blameless lives. This readiness involves a commitment to living in accordance with God's will and standards.
- **Sharing Christ**: Scott (N7NPA) highlighted the importance of sharing Christ in various settings, emphasizing that believers should be ready to testify about their faith in every situation.
- **Overcoming Struggles**: Jerry (AE7) shared a story of someone overcoming alcoholism through faith, illustrating how faith can lead to transformation and healing.

#### Discussion Questions
- **How do pride and division manifest in church communities, and what are some practical ways to address these issues?**
- **What does it mean to be "ready for judgment" as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 1:4-9? How can we prepare ourselves spiritually for this?**
- **In what ways can we resolve disputes within the church, and why is this important for maintaining unity and integrity?**
- **How can we better share our faith in various settings, and what are some practical steps we can take to do so effectively?**

#### Closing Prayer and Reflection
The study concluded with a closing prayer by Jerry (AE7), expressing gratitude for another day and asking for healing and a life pleasing to God. The prayer reflected on the importance of living a life that honors God and brings glory to Him.

#### Technical and Miscellaneous Notes
The study faced some technical challenges, with weak signals on some SDRs and interruptions during discussions. Despite these challenges, the group maintained a spirit of camaraderie and shared a joke about skydiving, adding a touch of humor to the session.

This Bible study not only delved into the scriptural context of resolving disputes within the church but also provided practical insights into living a life that reflects faith and integrity.

Okay, but you got me on Utah or Half Moon Bay, right? Roger. Alright, real good. Thank you for that. Okay, alright, so it's likely to be heard on Half Moon Bay and Utah. So glad for that. Alright, this is WB7MX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. We are going to get started with our Bible Study. and we are in 1 Corinthians chapter 6, 1 Corinthians chapter 6, and in this section of scripture, we have been looking at the prophets in the Corinthian church, and in chapter 1 through 4, He dealt with the issue of divisions in the church. And then in chapter 5, he dealt with the issue of veniality in the church. And now in chapter 6, he's dealing with the issue of lawsuits in the church. And all of these problems arose out of the issue of pride. of the Corinthians being puffed up. Paul specifically says that about them. So that's what we're going to be dealing with here, and that's the section that we're here. All right, so before we get started, we want to open in prayer. I'm going to open in prayer, and then Scott's going to read to us. So let's pray together. Our kind and gracious Father, we thank you for this passage that we have, and thank you for the band conditions that you have allotted to us. Father, we pray for an improvement in the band conditions so we can communicate better about your words and proclaim your glory more clearly, not only here, but around the world. And so, Father, we just pray that you would calm the sun down and help us to be able to have a good day and condition. Lord, we just want to ask that the Holy Spirit would illuminate our minds and our understanding so that we would be able to understand the Scripture. And, Father, may the Spirit also use that understanding to transform us. to form us into the image of Jesus Christ in our thoughts, in our words, in our actions. Father, there are some here of the dead who can barely hear. I pray that you help them to be able to hear. And Lord, I just pray for those with medical issues, Father, that you would be pleased to relieve them even now. Father, we ask these things in Jesus' name. I'm reading out a new American Standard this morning. Does any of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law court? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life? So if you have a law court, dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? I say this to your shame. Is it so that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren? But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers. Actually, then, it will already defeat for you that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? On the contrary, you yourselves wrong as defraud. You do this even to your brethren. And that brings us up to verse 9 there, Matt. It's 7 MPA. Alright Scott, real good. Thank you for that reading. The net would like to acknowledge Mark, W7UAR, there on the Utah FDR. Mark, thank you for being with us this morning. Same conditions as before, but we're working with what we got. Alright, Scott just read to us 1 Corinthians 6 verses 1 through 8. Any comments on this section, please come down to your call post. KT7TDI, please go ahead with your call now. ... and they can be addressed, they can be addressed, and not by those who are unwise, but by those ... You can take things so that we are not really seeing the real deal here. We can't have people out there fighting. The problem is, people are using this as a weapon. If they get their feet on the ground, they're just saying, you cannot do that. Now, I'm not saying that the grip of the bottle here is everything that you can have over here. I think that's a good thing as well. It's good to have a fair amount of people. What the problem is, is that with all three ships, they haven't yet seen the problem in history. We see it from that point, they wanted to go back. Yeah, David, copy all on the Half Moon Bay, appreciate those comments. David was simply saying that, you know, in churches, a lot of these problems arise from people borrowing money from other people inside the church. Mark said, "Reboot in Acts, verse 5, Paul directs the church to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, quite the punishment, but necessary to remove the dominance of the flesh and of life, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord." Now, he focused on this phrase, "the day of the Lord," there in 1 Corinthians 5 and verse 5, and he went back and looked at chapter 1. verses 4 through 9, where it says that we eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end that you may be blameless once again, here it is, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. So the point that Mark was making is that there's coming a day of judgment, and we need to be ready for that, and we need to be blameless in that day. We see that Mr. Sasse is using like a stop-mode trigger, but we have the leadership of the Roman Empire that we've built. And they're your masters, and you have to be around them all the time to get them to break themselves really strong. And as I told you, you are basically two of the very strong, two of the different parties that you see. Different teachers... ... and so that's why... Yeah, David, thanks for that comment. David was saying that the Roman Empire was an empire that was saturated with sin, and the leaders in particular were involved in gross sexual immorality. And it also had to do with the way financial dealings were carried out in the Roman Empire. My call here is to say pretty much, now your call is to restore to a good fellowship in the church. You've got to call out to him, and it's not an easy thing to do sometimes as a church leader. Or even if you come into a brother, and say, you're a brother. And so this issue of church discipline needs to be brought back into practice today in our churches so that our churches fear the Lord, our churches follow the Lord, our churches take the teachings of the Lord seriously, and they take the moral behavior of their members seriously. And it's not being hypocritical to hide it. It's just saying we need to deal with it internally. And so this idea of taking these lawsuits out to the world and asking the world to adjudicate them is saying the world is more just than the church. And we need all these unjust, unsaved, ungodly, immoral people to pass judgment on us as to what our behavior should be in a particular situation. And you can see what a terrible testimony that is to the world. Yeah, Max, I appreciate your comment on that. It's all 37211. The quick and bold, but that's not the thing. But the right is to be generous and give. I can see your comment with regard to the things that are done, dealt with within the church. Hi David, I was able to copy about half your words on the half-moon day SDR, but the gist of what David was saying But when I gather in a booth or with individuals that I detect have a spiritual side, I may not consume alcoholic beverages with them, but the conversation right in that bar is going to be about the Lord Jesus Christ and how He came and saved the sins of the world. And so that's, you know, That's where my mission field is. Now, do I do that on a regular basis? No, I do not. But if the opportunity is there, that's where I do my work there. Max, over. Yeah, Scott, well said, and I completely agree with you. There's no place we can't take Christ and bear witness for Christ and share the light for Christ. It's just a matter of awareness, and it's a matter of understanding why you're there, what you're doing. And, you know, if you don't ever go into the bar with a guy, Scott, you'll be slandered for being holier than thou. And if you go in the bar with a guy to share the gospel, you'll be slandered as a glutton and a winebibber. So just know that you've got a clear conscience, you're doing the right thing, you're serving Jesus, and let the world say what they might say. Back to you there, Scott, in 7 and 8. And this person won't do it. He says, rather than go to the secular authorities, just take the law. And, you know, there's plenty of times when we say, you know, for me to get justice in this situation would be a terrible testimony for the unsaved. So I'm going to just take the law. That's a good example. I'm very glad. Yeah, thank you. I'll touch on that too a bit because that's a good point. You know, again, it's about our relationships with one another. And I love the point that Scott and David made too, that our witness is important and all things we need to do unto the Lord. And that's a question we can always ask ourselves, whether it's in a relationship or a difficult circumstance. I mean, my response to this, Okay, station attempting to make a comment. Please come forward with your comment. I'm playing with my SDR here and I keep cutting you off. Go ahead, station. Yeah, Whiskey 7, Uniform Alpha Radio. Yeah, just as I was listening to the whole conversation here, to me a couple things come to mind. My mom always taught me growing up that you wanted to avoid the appearance of evil. And so, yeah, for me there's exceptions in ministry and stuff like that where you're doing stuff. Anyways, I love overall the message of, hey, this is how we should conduct ourselves. We should live in a way that withstands, I think, some degree of scrutiny, try to avoid the appearance of evil and sin, turn the other cheek, and try to resolve matters through the church in a way that maintains the respect of the church and respect of one another. W7UAR. And so if you see someone in a situation that's questionable, where you could see that, well, maybe they're out of line there, just pray for them. Will, that's a great comment. Thank you for that. And so I remember somebody asking me once in a very difficult situation, they said, Max, what are you going to do? Almighty God, we send you today grateful for another day on this earth and for this month. We ask, Lord, for healing, for swelling in legs and feet. Pete and Six intellect, your friend Bill Dyke. back a5y feeling for swelling in his right leg and for knee pain mike here's an fsm pray for recovery for case and skills after having a cold and mike uh it's called tincture of time uh it takes a long time chairman 7bkp for opportunities to share the gospel about m7 mta focus on you and help us to live a life pleasing to you. And we ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen. This is AE7 here. He's done. Jerry, thank you for that. Just a second. that was a total alcoholic. And by the grace of God, through trusting and being baptized in Christ, he gave up his alcoholism and he stopped drinking. And now he got his life back. At the same time, he had to witness someone who professed to be a child of God and yet worked in the bars and in that they also include because of homosexuality God accepts that homosexuality and that all this is creeping into the church and we have to be tempted from that and show what the scriptures say and that's what we're hearing so I'm against I'm big on optics optics are so important to the church and to the fellowship and if i see a brother or sister doing something that i don't quite understand i don't rush the judgment i wait till i know the search and i have enough information that i can go and talk privately to that individual as you stated in your talk and you talk privately and that doesn't get the success that it's easy to get that back on track and then we talk, and if that doesn't work, well, then I take it to the church. And that is all in accordance with the scriptures, and then we'll deal with discipline if it needs to be, because there's a sin there or something's happened. Keep with people's heaven, Papa, Delta, India. We could go on this for hours, Max, but anyway, that was just my comment. All right, we'll be right down. Mark, W7, UAR, come ahead. I just loved hearing the discussion here and I don't drink it all myself and I couldn't agree more with the feedback there about the appearance of evil. That was part of the comments I think I was sort of making there is you just want to avoid the appearance. But when I heard him say, "Have you said or done anything that you regret?" I said, In my heart I'm like, well, yeah, even when I'm sober, that's true. So anyways, yeah. But I'm sure alcohol wouldn't help that either. Hey, that was a great photo you sent the other day of you out there hunting. It looks like, did you say you got your limit? Yeah, Mark, I did get my limit that day. We went hunting the following Monday. I only got two. But that's hunting, right? But that was an extraordinary day. And we had great birds and great shots. Over. Thank you. Oh, that's fantastic. Well, I want to hear the joke of the day and then I'll come back and share some other stuff. Alright, Beck, Alvon from 5 Yankee. It's time for you to come forward and tell us the joke of the day if you're still there. I'm still here. You ready? I'm ready. Okay. Why do you not need a parachute to go skydiving? I can't imagine a circumstance under which I wouldn't need a parachute if I'm going skydiving, but go right on ahead there, Peck. You would only need a parachute if you plan on skydiving a second time. Yeah, roger that, over. Okay. I'm listening. I actually plan on -- you know, I've never jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. I know people that do that. My sons have all done it. I just can't bring myself to jump out of a perfectly good airplane and take a chance on the parachute opening. I'm too risk-averse for that. Over. Yeah, you know, I only got one body, and I'm glad I took care of it in my youth so it doesn't bother me too much now in my old age. But, yeah, I never have liked heights. I've always had acrophobia, which is the fear of irrational fear of heights. Sometimes I'll be sitting on my couch in my living room, and I'll open a book, and it'll have a picture of a guy climbing a cliff or standing on the edge of a cliff, and I get an adrenaline rush out of that.
