Alright, this is WB7MAX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. We're going to get started with our Bible study. It is 6 o'clock. And we're remembering our brother Will Kilimike 5 Foxtrot, who's in the doctor's office receiving procedures at this point in time, praying for him and for that procedure to go well on his throat. We are looking at 1 Corinthians chapter 2. We're going to be reading verses 9 through 16. And basically what Paul is saying here, what he was saying yesterday is, Trust the message, don't trust yourself. We preach Christ and Him crucified, who is the power of God, the wisdom of God, and it is through that message that men obtain faith and trust in Christ and are reconciled to God. And then today, the fundamental message is trust the Spirit and His working in the human heart. And so we trust the message, we trust the Spirit. We do not trust in ourselves or our public speaking abilities or anything else. And so the focus of our trust is on the message and on the Spirit. Okay, before we get started with our reading today, we want to have Mike W7TW open a prayer for us. Mike, go ahead and open a prayer, please. Good morning everyone, this is uh, Mark W7PWO. Um, let's take ourselves to the throne of grace. Heavenly Father, thank you for who you are and what you've done for us by the way of the cross. Open our hearts and minds to the hidden wisdom of the scriptures this morning. To all of us around this round table and also everyone listening, we pray that you establish your words in our hearts so that it's on our minds continuously to help us apply these We pray this in Jesus' name, Lord. We pray this in Jesus' name, Lord. We pray in Jesus' name, Lord. Amen. Amen, Mike. Thank you so much for that prayer. All right. I'm going to go ahead and read this passage since bank conditions are poor. and I know that you can all hear me. So I'm going to be reading 1 Corinthians 2, verses 9 through 16. That's 1 Corinthians 2, verses 9 through 16, and I'll be reading out of the King James. It says, But as it is written, Eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us. By his spirit. but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the Spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God, which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches. but which the Holy Ghost teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. Neither can he know them, because they are spiritually disturbed. But... He that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. All right, so there's our reading. Any comments on this section, please come down with your call sign. Thank you. Alpha. Alpha, go ahead. Well, Max, we're referring to the Holy Spirit here, and God can reveal all things through the Holy Spirit for those that believe. And those that are connected with the Holy Spirit, you can be revealed all things. And through that comes wisdom, you know, multiple things there, Max. Over. Well, you know, that's right. It is not adequate to rely on the human intellect alone. Because it's fallen, it's depraved, it's darkened, and it's perverted. And as a result, the natural man, as it says there in verse 14, does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. The natural man is just the unsaved man. And with reference to him, it says, Eye is not seen and ear is not heard, neither is entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love him. So he's in darkness. He's in ignorance. He's in rebellion. And he is in a state of total inability. It says he doesn't receive the things of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them. So that's a state of inability. And so unless the Spirit of God works in his heart, and opens his mind and illuminates his understanding and regenerates his heart. And he's going to go on acting like the spiritual realm either doesn't exist or that he relates to it in a completely wrong fashion. And so, Scott, you are exactly right. Without the work of the Spirit of God in the heart, changing it and illuminating it, there is no hope that the unsaved man is ever going to understand or receive the things that God has prepared for him by way of redemption, by way of providing eternal life and forgiveness and reconciliation, and all those wonderful things that are there in the gospel. So... We need to pray that the Spirit of God will work in the heart of men so that they can understand the gospel and embrace the gospel. So, Scott, that's a pivotal, important observation that you made there. And it's critical that we not only rely on the message, but also rely on the Spirit to do His work in the heart. All right, other comments, please come down. I got a follow-up, Max. Follow-up. Go ahead, Scott. Yeah, well, also what I see is the stupidity of man. You know, a lot in places of higher learning, it's almost like I see folks get corrupted where they... look at some of these institutions, those that go through these institutions, they come out thinking that man is so smart. They get corrupted at max. And then they walk around with a chip on their shoulder. Well, I've been to higher learning. I'm educated. I'm smarter than the rest of the world. And you engage with these people, and that really shines. And I sat there and shake my head thinking, you know what, you think you're an Einstein, but the Einstein ain't much smarter than a hemlock stump there. Max, over. Copy that, Scott. I couldn't agree more. Higher learning has been the corruption of the human mind and the elevations. of the human pride, and it just hardens people against the gospel. And, you know, that's why it says here in chapter 1, not many mighty, not many wise, not many noble are called. God has chosen the foolish things and the weak things. and the base things and the despised things and the things which are nothing, you know. Those are the folks that he works with, he works in, and he calls to himself because if there's one thing God hates above everything else, it's human pride. And so he resists the proud, but he gives grace to the lowly. And so I agree, the more educated a person is in our secular universities, the less likely they are to acknowledge their need of salvation, their sinfulness, and their need for redemption and reconciliation with God. You know, it just seems like that it's just nothing but fables and old wives' tales that these folks believe and embrace and follow, to their own destruction. because of their self-importance and because of their attitude of self-sufficiency. All right. Any other comments, please, come down. WB-7BZL. Okay. I had a double there. I had Kevin, KB-7ZXN. I had Roger, WB-7BZL. Kevin, you go first, and then we'll have Roger. Go ahead, Kevin. Okay, very good. That's a good comment. And you know, since we reached the summit yesterday too, the hull is pretty good. The crew is pretty good on site. They're kind of the core of the gospel message. And because that is part of the wisdom of God, it has to prove it. Also, And he continues on here, "The mystery, the wisdom of God, is in revealing the Spirit, through the Spirit of God." "We want to finish our hearts and cross to the Father." "It's what transforms us from dead unto life." "The Spirit of God is the involvement with sanctification process that we studied in Romans, what he said." to preach the testimony of the presentation of Christ. And the testimony that the Spirit of God works through to transform us, to reach those that will believe and become... Yeah, good morning Peter and Doc. Yes, I think it was mainly prompted by this phrase that we read in our passage, "The mind of Christ." And I was just following some of the directions that I had noted in years past about the mind of Christ. And I was directed to Philippians chapter 2, starting with verse 5. And if I may, I'm going to I'll read this passage that also highlights what the mind of Christ is, and it goes right along with what Kevin has highlighted, as well as you, Max. "Have this attitude in yourselves, which was also in Christ Jesus." In the King James, "Have this mind in yourselves," which was also in Christ Jesus, "who, though he existed in the form of God, did not regard equity with God as a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men, and being found in the appearance of a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross." This is probably the most revelatory as to what Paul would describe as the mind of Christ in my awareness. Back to you, Max. WB7, visit L. Roger, thank you for bringing in that parallel passage. So Roger was referring to the last phrase of 1 Corinthians 2 and verse 16. where it says, "But we have the mind of Christ." And then he turned us to this passage in Philippians 2, verses 5 through 8, where he talked about, "Let this mind be in you," which was also in Christ Jesus. And so we see that it's the mind of self-sacrifice, we see it's the mind The difference between having the mind of Christ and having the mind of the world is a radically different outlook, understanding, and of course, pattern of behavior that we engage in, because we think differently than the world does. And that's why they think we're foolish, we think they're foolish. I remember in Luke chapter 24, after the resurrection, it says of Jesus regarding his apostles who were saved people, it says, "...then opened he their understanding that they might understand the Scriptures." And that's a direct quote out of Luke 24. which is, I think, totally normal. Depending on, you know, people going to depression, and all of a sudden they're having a rough time understanding spiritual messages from the Lord. And this is kind of a normal thing. It's very frustrating to me. I have this happen to me quite often, Max. Over. who walks in darkness and has no light. Let him trust in the name of the Lord and stay upon his God. So that's describing there in Isaiah 50 and verse 10, Jeff, exactly what you're talking about. Here you are. You fear the Lord. You obey the voice of His servant, who is Jesus Christ. You're a saved man. And yet sometimes you feel like you're walking in darkness and don't have any light. What are you supposed to do? Are you supposed to say, well, you know, God has abandoned me and so I'll just go off in the world? No. That's not what we do. It says, let him trust in the name of the Lord and stay, that is, cling to his God. And so during those dark times, Jeff, you double down in your trust in God, you double down in your faith in God, you double down with your reading and drawing near to Christ and crying out for light. emotional pain, spiritual pain, circumstantial difficulties. During those times, we turn to God, we don't turn away from God. And we draw near to God, we don't walk away from God. Back to you there, Jeff, AK6OK. - Yes, Max, it's very true. And we're in one of those situations right now with my family. You know, since we've been so diligent in pushing these Bibles out, and finally got to a point where we are out of Bibles completely, now we're having more problems for our entire family than we've ever had. And this is expected. You know, my wife not getting enough sleep, all kinds of attack going on, which is a source of prayer needs right now. Just that my wife and I, we have plenty of sleep because we've been having a real problem waking up at 3:00 in the morning and no particular -- that's the funny part about it. You have to fight the good fight of faith, and you have to recognize that it's an honor to be under attack by Satan because it means you're doing something for God. And so good for you, brother. I'm really pleased to hear that you and your wife are going to the throne of grace several times a day, praying for grace and mercy and help in the time of need. And God will preserve you and protect you, and we will pray for you, that God helps your family to be at peace, and that God helps... that God causes Satan to be rebuked. You know, it says, resist the devil and he will flee from you. And so that's the confidence we have, is that whatever this crisis is, Jeff, that you guys are going through, it isn't going to last. Eventually it will come to an end. and God will deliver you from it. So just hang in there, brother. Keep praying, keep trusting, keep obeying, and resist that evil one and he will flee from you. Back to you, Jeff. Well, thank you, Max. And, you know, one of the shining lights in all of this is our dogs. Bear. Bear is 11 years old, I think now. He is a prayer dog, and any time Patty and I are in prayer, he is sitting right by us. I don't care where he is, he will run over because he realizes it's prayer time. And he sits right next to us, and he prays with us. And as you guys probably have heard, he will not eat any food until we pray with him first. He was trained that way when he was a little tiny guy. But it is a great source of comfort for me to understand that Bear even understands what prayer is all about. People can boo-boo this all they want, but I've got to tell you, sometimes he's off in the other room looking out the front window or something, and we can't get him to respond. So Patty and I go into prayer before we eat, and he comes sauntering in, and he'll sit down right in front of us at the dinner table and go, Nope, you pray with Abby, let's do it again. And we always pray with him a second time over. would we not pray and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit who abides in us in opening our eyes of understanding, you know, trying to understand the Word of God in the Bible and Scripture as you read without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It's like trying to read in the dark, you know. If you don't know Braille, you can do that. But if you're trying to do it visually, it's not going to work. And, you know, the wisdom of God is like this great treasure chest. And it's there, and all can see it, but you can't access the contents unless you have the Spirit of God working in you to really be blessed by God's wisdom. And, of course, we know as God works on us as believers in that sanctification process, Part of that process is our faith, our faithfulness and trusting God, living our lives in honor and glory of Him, and trusting the Spirit of God to do that work in us. And that God's wisdom is revealed in that obedience as well, of course, guided and strength of the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much. Thanks, Jeff. Yeah, you know, I kind of liken it, Kevin, to I walk into my living room and it's dark, right? And there's my Bible and I want to read it. Well, what do I do? I reach over and turn the lamp on, right? And it would be kind of dumb for me to sit there in my chair, open my Bible, and try to read it in the dark. I need some illumination. Well, it's the same thing. You know, before I open my Bible or, you know, as I open it, I'm praying. And I'm saying, God, open my eyes. Open my understanding. Okay. All right, the net would like to acknowledge Keith, WB7RKR. Good morning, Keith. Good to have you with us. Keith says good morning on the Utah STR. All right, other comments, come ahead. WB7V0. Roger, WB7V0, please go ahead. All right, our passage here highlights this passage of scripture from the Older Testament. And I believe you may have already worked on this one. Isaiah 64 and Isaiah 65 is quoted, "Things which eyes have not seen or ear has not heard, and not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him." And I was used to growing up hearing about that as something of the future. And I just remember the feeling of the person that highlighted that we can experience this now, that this was given by Paul as an invitation to have the is-ness of the future, you know, to have the is-ness of the future or the presence of the future. and that all comes through the Holy Spirit. So, yeah, if we want to experience glory now, let's invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts. WB7, Visa Dell, Becky Max. Yeah, Roger, well said. You know, oftentimes 1 Corinthians 2 in verse 9 is wrongly quoted and applied. You know, people say regarding Christians, that eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love him. That is not being said of Christians. That's being said of the unsaved, that they don't recognize the value of the gospel and the blessings that it brings. They're in darkness about that. But verse 10 says, But God has revealed them to us. And so while, of course, we don't fully understand everything that we're going to experience in heaven, we understand a huge portion of it because it's revealed to us in the scriptures, and the Spirit illuminates our minds so we can understand it. So we're able to see those things, understand those things, and to rejoice in those things. And so when you go and talk with them, But an unsaved person, of course they don't get it. And the reason why we're telling them is because we do get it. And we want them to get it. And we know that the only way they're going to get it is if the same thing happened to them that happened to us. And that is that the Spirit of God worked in our hearts and enabled us to see what we couldn't see and understand what we couldn't understand. For those who love Him. That's the key word. Key word of the verse. Thank you. Take care. George, real good. I'm glad that you were able to gain some understanding there. God has prepared all these things for those who love Him. And when we love Him, we understand those things and we enter into them. So praise the Lord for that. All right. Any other prayer requests? Please come now. and bring these traditions to the Lord. Heavenly Father, you just heard from our brothers as KK7 PDI and Max just mentioned the the tragedy that's going on in Iran right now. We would just like to bring that foremost and hear their cries and our prayers for them and pray that God will bring them back. all the precipitous events that are being ordered around the world that are against you to be well put down. so that the world can turn towards you and be at one and at peace with you. We thank you for allowing us to come together and be in your presence. We thank you for your many blessings and hearing our prayers and prayers. we'd like to bring before you Will who has gone through a throat dilation feature, a keel of Mike 5 box cut and we're praying for a good result and that his recovery will be very easy and that he'll bring a good result and also he'll be able to swallow and be better as a result of this. We also lift up Doc W6RLJ who's going through some medical things. He's going to be on a medical mission to cure a body and he's already in Hawaii and connecting to a flight. And we're praying that the government there at Your Body is favorable to their mission and that they'll be able to do what they have to do in the medical field. We look out for Brother Ed and 6XOH, who's recovering from a cold and also his wife. And we pray that that brings him some relief and that he'll be able to be on air with us more. We heard from Mark W7 UAR who's working a flight today to Long Beach, California. Thank you. you you you you you you you you you you you you you
