### Bible Study Summary: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

#### Introduction and Context

The Bible study focused on 1 Corinthians 1:18-31, a passage that delves into the power of the Gospel and the paradoxical nature of God's wisdom. This section of 1 Corinthians is part of a larger letter written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Corinth. Paul addresses issues of division, immorality, and lack of spiritual maturity among the Corinthian believers. In this particular passage, Paul contrasts the world's wisdom with the wisdom of God, emphasizing the importance of preaching the cross of Christ.

#### Key Verses and Themes

**Verse 18: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."**

This verse highlights the dichotomy between the world's perception of the Gospel and the reality of its power. The preaching of the cross is seen as foolishness by those who are perishing, but it is the very power of God for those who are saved. This theme underscores the importance of sharing the message of the cross, despite its apparent foolishness to the world.

**Verse 22: "For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom."**

Paul contrasts the expectations of the Jews and the Greeks. The Jews sought signs and miracles as proof of divine intervention, while the Greeks were preoccupied with philosophical wisdom. This verse serves as a reminder that the Gospel is not about signs or human wisdom but about the power of God's message.

**Verses 26-27: "For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty."**

This passage emphasizes God's preference for choosing the weak and foolish to confound the wise and mighty. This theme challenges the idea that success and salvation are dependent on human wisdom or strength. Instead, it underscores that God's power is most evident when working through those whom the world considers weak or insignificant.

**Verse 28: "And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are:"**

God's choice of despised and weak things to bring to naught the things that are esteemed in the world further reinforces the theme of divine reversal. God's glory is displayed through the unexpected and the seemingly insignificant.

#### Discussion Points and Insights

**David, KK7PDI, emphasized the power of the Gospel and the importance of sharing it.** He referenced Romans 1:16 ("For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.") and Hebrews 4:12 ("For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."). These passages underscore the transformative power of the Gospel and the importance of proclaiming it boldly.

**Kevin, KB7ZXM, discussed the foolishness of the world and the wisdom of God.** He highlighted the importance of not being embarrassed by the message of the cross. This point encourages believers to embrace the message of the cross, even if it is seen as foolish by the world, because it is the wisdom of God.

**Roger, W6RLJ, referenced the Philippian jailer's conversion.** The story of the Philippian jailer, found in Acts 16, illustrates how the message of the cross can lead to transformation and salvation, even in the most unexpected circumstances.

**Ed, ZXN, focused on the importance of proclaiming God's Word and trusting the Spirit to work.** This point emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit in bringing about conversion and spiritual growth, reminding believers that their responsibility is to share the message, trusting God to do the rest.

**George, K2KJX, discussed the reluctance of Christians to share their faith and the importance of sharing personal testimonies.** This discussion highlights the need for believers to overcome their fear and share their personal experiences of God's grace and salvation.

#### Discussion Questions

1. How does the world's perception of the Gospel as foolishness challenge your own understanding of its power?
2. In what ways can we, as believers, overcome the fear of sharing the message of the cross, even if it is seen as foolish by others?
3. How does God's choice of the weak and foolish to confound the wise and mighty challenge our own notions of success and strength?
4. How can we better trust the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of those we share the Gospel with?
5. What personal testimonies can you share to encourage others in their faith journey?

#### Prayer Requests

The group concluded with prayer requests for various individuals and situations, including health concerns, healing, and national leadership. The focus was on seeking justice and wisdom in leadership, reflecting the importance of God's wisdom in guiding our lives and communities.

#### Closing

The Bible study ended with a prayer for justice and wisdom in leadership, followed by a sign-off and wishes for a blessed day. The technical sign-off involved returning the frequency to the Vintage Military Radio Network, ensuring a smooth transition and respect for the radio community.

This Bible study not only delved into the profound themes of God's wisdom and the power of the Gospel but also provided practical insights into sharing the message of the cross with confidence and faith.

Okay, I copy. Will, cue Mike by pop shot. No prayer request. Will, we have you checked in. Nothing wrong with your radio. We have a terrible band today. Utah SDR is non-functional. I am listening to you on the Half Moon Bay SDR, able to pick you up there pretty well. So anyway, we're going to proceed with the Bible study. We've got about another two minutes or so before we get started, but any other check-ins, please come now. Brian's in there. Yeah, copy Brian. Brian, KJ7 PWM, I'm able to hear you on Half Moon Bay SGR. Go ahead, Brian. Alright Brian, KJ7PWM, I was able to copy about half of what you said on the Half Moon Bay SDR. So, you know, the poor man's amplifier is to yell a little louder into your microphone. So raise your voice a little bit when you transmit, and hopefully we'll be able to hear you just a little bit better. Okay, I've got Brian, KJ7PWM, checked in. Everybody hold on. I've got to check my text message here in just a minute. All right, I got a text message here from Brian, KA7ZIP. And anyway, he says, a prayer request update on my good friend Jay. He has a full scan to see if where prostate cancer is spread, waiting on results, definitely needs our prayer. So let me make a note here, Brian. Everybody hang on one second. *Loud whistling* Alright, this is WB7MAX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study. I want to see if Roger WB7VZL is there. Roger WB7VZL, are you on the air? Alright, no joy on Roger WB7VZL. Maybe he'll check in a little bit later. And let's see, what else do I have here? Oh, Brian says he was yelling. Okay, Brian, well, the poor man's amplifier didn't work this time. All right, we are cooking with gas here on the West Coast Bible Study. We are ready to get started. And we are in 1 Corinthians 1, verses 18 to 31. Isn't ham radio great? You know, we are the pioneers of radio communication, and we are getting this figured out. So no problems here. We are all happy, and we are doing well. Give me one last second to check my SDRs, and I will be back with you, okay? Hang on. Thank you. Thank you. All right, Beck, check your frequency. I think you bumped your dial. You're a little off frequency. We were able to read everything that you said, so no worries. And God is on frequency, so he got it, too. So, Beck, check your frequency. Come back to me. Roger, got it. Thank you. Sorry. No worries. You are on frequency now. Everything is good. I hear you really well, Beck. So anyway, appreciate that. All right. In the interest of radio transmission quality, I'm going to go ahead and read this section myself. I'll be reading out of the King James Version. I'm going to be reading 1 Corinthians 1, verses 18 to 31. That's 1 Corinthians 1, verses 18 to 31. verses 18 through 31. All right, verse 18. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God. It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believed. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom. But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, And God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty, and the base things of the world, and the things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and the things which are not, to bring to naught things that are, that no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are you in Christ Jesus. Who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, that according as it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. And that brings us to the end of chapter 1. All right, any comments on this section, please come now with your call sign. BDI. David's in there. David's in there. David, KK7 PDI, please go ahead. Yeah, verse 18 is such a powerful, powerful passage. Because when he says here the gospel, the message of the cross is the power of God. To every single person who with a contrite heart had come before the cross of Jesus and had confessed their sins and had repented and been renewed and had their sins forgiven, they understand the power of God through the cross. He goes on to talk about that God chose through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. I think we're going to realize in that day when we end our lives and that we go and stand in front of Jesus and we're there. The power of the Word, the power of the Gospel that we had in our hands is so powerful. And what did we do with it? How did we teach others? Did we take the time to tell them about Jesus? And if we didn't, I would hate to have that message given back, "Why didn't you tell me?" but then like yesterday at the funeral, I saw how powerful the message is. When God speaks, it cuts people to the heart. Kilo Kilo 7, Papa Delta, India. Back to you, Max. Thank you. And to the Jew first and also to the Gentile. We read about that in Romans 1, 16. And then, of course, there's that wonderful passage in Hebrews 4. The Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. And over and over again, we read about the power of the Word, the power to convert. And we have this power. We can wield this power. We can wield this power. We just need to preach the gospel, as you said, to every lost person that we come into contact with. So let's be faithful in wielding the power of the word in our witness to the world, and may God be pleased to use it to open hearts to believing in Christ as Lord and Savior. Thanks for that comment, David. All right, other comments, please come down. ZXM. ZXM, please go ahead. JB-7Z, and there may be somebody else in there as well, Max, I heard in the faint distance. But I just wanted to thank David for his comments because I think he's spot on and you encapsulated it as well. But it got right to the heart of it. And that's exactly it. The preaching of the cross, the foolishness to this world is the power of God and salvation. You know, the term he uses, the power of the dynamite, if you will, the explosive, the power, you know, literal and figuratively, but literal power of what really changes lives, what answers the questions of life. and I love how he just makes the contrast. The wisdoms of this world, you know, the philosophers of, you know, Aristotle and Plato and whatever flavor of the day, the Epicarians and the Stoics and whatever today, the self-help gurus. Where are they? They have no answers for the questions of life, for our salvation. What about the disputers he talks about, the scribes, the Pharisees, those that love to just have endless arguments over the minutia of the law? they have no answers. The answer is always Christ, and Christ crucified. And it is foolishness to the world. It's interesting, you know, to look across the landscape of... you know, those that are faithful to the Lord and share the gospel. And even in this first century, the most unexpected group of people and churches, and even the folks here in Corinth who had a lot of issues, still carry the gospel, spread the gospel, and people are saved because of it, because it's not about us. It's not about the wisdoms that we can... re-scient or intellectually reason in our own minds it's about Christ crucified. KB 7 is that example. Yeah, Kevin, well said. And you know, I really appreciate you saying it's about Christ crucified. You know, the cross is at the center of our message. Jesus didn't come to help us with our problems. Jesus didn't come to make us happy or improve our relationships. He came to save us through our sins. And unless we keep the issue of the sinfulness of humanity and the cross as the remedy for that problem right at the center of our message, we are failing. Jesus didn't come to be your friend. He came to be your Savior. Now, as your Savior, he will be your friend. But until we get this issue of redemption and reconciliation through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross for your sins, front and center, then all the other stuff we say about the gospel really becomes sin. a subversion of the gospel because it says in Matthew 121, thou shalt call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins. And so we have a crucified Savior. We have a sin-defeating Savior. We have a Savior who will redeem us from our sins. and he does that by the work on the cross. So, Kevin, thanks for emphasizing that. All right, other comments, please come down. RLJ had a double with Kevin there, Max. Okay, Roger, W6R, you doubled with Kevin. Roger, please come ahead. You have the microphone. Thank you. Good morning. It came down to verse 14, and it was really something. The last phrase was, "The message preached to Satan, I was to believe." Immediately, my thoughts ran over to verse 16:31, I believe it is, where the jailer, half-clawed, had his own dream. And his reply was, believe and you and your family will be saved. It's a tremendous promise and a great hope. Yeah, amen there, Roger, W6RLJ. You referenced the Philippian jailer. And the fact that when he said to Paul, what must I do to be saved? He says, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved and your household. And so it says that Paul went and the jailer washed his wounds and he preached the gospel to the whole household. And they all believed. So anyone who believes will be saved. And that is the message of the gospel. And I really appreciate you pointing that out, Roger. Excellent point there. Okay. Other comments, please come down with your call card. ZXN. ZXN, please go ahead. Yeah, difficult band conditions. And I just wanted a quick follow-up in that the important amount of emphasis on the crosshair, too. you know, there's a growing religion, well some say growing, some say waning, but anyway, it's so prominent in areas, including where we live here, that the world tries to teach that they get offended at the cross, and the cross is offensive, because it is, but that's part of the mystery revealed in the salvation that the wisdom of God that Christ was the sacrifice given in such a way because honestly our sin is shameful but they would have you believe that salvation took place in the shedding of blood at in the Garden of Gethsemane, what he, you know, it's what it blessed from the anxiety of what he would see in the coming hours. But no, you cannot miss the message here is the preaching of the cross, because that is at the heart of the gospel in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, according to the scriptures. prophesied from days beforehand, you know, in the Old Testament, and fulfilled in the new here. So in the preaching from ordinary folks of the simple truth of God, of Christ fulfilling the sacrifice needed to redeem us back to Him, what a beautiful gift this is. from our Lord and Savior. KB 7 is that example. Yeah, Kevin, really well said. And, you know, it's the whole issue of the cross that is a stumbling block. Everybody's happy to say, oh, yeah, the morality of Christianity is wonderful, you know, the Ten Commandments, all that. But when it comes to the cross, that's where the offense is. And, you know... we have to not be embarrassed at all about preaching the cross, about preaching substitutionary atonement, and that the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sins. And you know, because our message is foolishness to the world, and they mock us and they scoff and they scorn at that message, we tend to kind of withdraw and say, oh, well, you know, we become embarrassed by the message because of the response we're getting from people. Do not be embarrassed that you appear to be foolish. in the eyes of the world. Because what we have to understand is that we're living in two separate universes. We're living in the kingdom of God. They're living in the kingdom of darkness. We're serving Jesus Christ. They're serving Satan. Their ways are not our ways. As God says in Isaiah, he says, my ways are not your ways, for the heavens are high above the earth. So are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts. So, yeah, when we're preaching the truth, we're going to appear to be out of our minds and very foolish to insane people. You know, if you've ever tried to talk to an insane homeless person on the street, you're living in a different world than you are, right? You have a different reality than you do. And so it's really tough to communicate to them. Well, it's the same way when we're preaching the gospel to the lost. They're living in a different universe than we are. And we seem like brain-addled people to them, and they're brain-addled people to us. And what's going to reach across that chasm and connect with them is the power of the gospel. And so don't be ashamed of that. You apply that. Even if they think it's ridiculous, you just keep preaching it. And if God is pleased to call them, As it says there in verse 24, then they will see through it. All right. Other comments, please come now. PDI, follow up. PDI, follow up. Go ahead. Here in verse 26 and 27, Matt, there are two reports here as well, and I want to just comment on that for them. because I think Will made such a great comment with regard to this just the other day. And that is not many mighty, not many noble at all. When you look at the apostles, they were ordinary men. They were uneducated, but they had the Word of God, and that's what changed everything. In verse 27, it says, God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put the shame of the wise. He chose the weak things of the world to put the shame of those things which are mighty. Those apostles took the elite of that day, the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and they put them to shame in how they taught the truth and they were teaching what God had said. And they, being the leaders of the Jews, never took it to heart. They would say but would not do. And the apostles were able to show them, and they looked at them as uneducated, unwise, but yet they were actually the ones who got the help they needed back in the day. Yeah, David, well said. And when you look out on the congregation, you know, there's not a lot of university-educated Christians. You know, most of them are just ordinary folk from blue-collar jobs. Maybe not the sharpest knives in the drawer, but those are the kind of people that God saved. Not many mighty, not many wise, not many noble. Those from the higher classes of society. who have lots of power, lots of money, lots of freedom and position and importance in the eyes of the world. Those people are the hardest people to reach with the gospel. And so when we're thinking about evangelism, we evangelize everyone without exception. But when you look at the people that respond, it's the people from the lower classes of society. It says in verse 27, foolish people. It says weak people. Verse 28... the things which are despised, the despised people, the people which are considered to be nobody in the eyes of the world, those are the people that God saves. Now, it's not that he doesn't save highly educated, highly intelligent people, but most of them are so full of themselves. and so filled with self-importance that they just don't think they need God because they have everything in this world that this world could offer to them. So, you know, the good news is that God tends to take the things which the world despises and he uses those to display his glory and the things which the world esteems. very highly, God used them with contempt. You know, you really see that in Psalm 2, where he that sits in the heavens shall laugh at the arrogance and the self-importance of the kings of the earth, and the high and the mighty, and how they think that they don't need God. So let's recognize... that the gospel humbles human pride, and the wise and the mighty and the noble are generally the most proud, and thus the hardest to reach with the gospel. All right. Any other comments, please? Come now. This is Ed Aksan, follow-up. ZXN follow up, please go ahead Kevin. Thank you Max, TV7 ZXN. And I wanted to come back just a little bit too in the follow up, but where we started and David made an excellent point I think that I don't want to lose sight of in the beginning. that God's Word simply needs to be proclaimed and shared. You know, we don't have to use extravagant measures on our part to try to defend God's Word in many ways. We don't have to try to... manipulate it or manipulate people to understand it. We simply need to proclaim it. And it is foolishness to the world, but the simplicity of it is that God's Word will not come back for us. You know, if we know from Isaiah, his ways are not our ways, his thoughts are not our thoughts. And as high as the heavens are above the earth, so are his thoughts above ours. And that is, so he talked about sharing things. the message of the gospel in the service yesterday, it can be hard. It is a two-edged sword. And we don't need to go on an endless debate. We just need to simply proclaim God's word and let the Spirit of God do its work in the hearts of those who are in need. than here at TV7. Thank you. We need to answer legitimate questions and objections to the Gospel. Our passage tells us in verse 22 that the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom. So the Jews are looking for miracles, you know? And the Greeks are saying, "Well, you know, what about this philosophical issue, and what about what that philosopher says?" And they're looking...the Jews are looking for signs and wonders. and the Greeks are looking for human wisdom and things that make sense to the dark and depraved, fallen human mind, and they're not going to find that in Christianity. And we shouldn't bother to try to supply it. We don't need to do a dog and pony show, or we don't need to... you know, explain all of the historical, archaeological, you know, proofs of Christianity, although we have those. The real issue is we need to preach to the conscience. You are a sinner. You are in rebellion against God. You have broken God's laws. You have a guilty conscience. you're going to have to stand before God on the day of judgment. There is only one thing that is going to redeem you from your sins, and that's the blood of Jesus Christ and his subsidiary sacrifice. And we explain the justice of God and how the justice was satisfied at the cross, and now redemption and forgiveness is available. That's the core of the message. And so what I have learned to do, and I think that this is what David, KK7PDI, was talking about, is we preach to the conscience. And it's not that our message doesn't impact the reason. It does impact the reason. Christianity is not irrational, but it is suprarational, which means it's above and beyond human understanding. And our passage says that right here, okay? This is God's ways, not man's ways. So you're exactly right, Kevin. We need to just proclaim it and trust the Spirit of God to use the Word of God on the conscience of those that God is calling to himself and bring them to salvation. All right, great comment. Other comments, please come now. I'd like to comment on that. I agree with what you're saying, and I appreciate it. But I want to add to that one of the things that I knew, is that everything falls into place. And the most important part of that is probably the example of our lives and how we treat others around us. Because if they looked it up and determined it, they have to be better than they because it's right that they may follow that example just because they want something better. Yeah, excellent comment. I'm not sure who made the comment because I didn't pick up the call sign, but you're exactly right. You know, Jesus says, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works. And, um, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." So, you know, we think about, "Well, I'll make this intellectual argument in favor of Christianity, or I'll provide that historical proof in favor of Christianity." But more powerful than that is people looking at our lives, seeing our behavior, watching our love for our Christian brother, watching how that, you know, we don't retaliate against our enemies. We love those who hate us. We pray for those who despitefully use us. And you are exactly right. Our conduct and our behavior is the powerful witness that convinces people that Christianity is true because they can see it in our lives. and they say, I don't know what that guy has, but I want whatever he has because I admire the way he lives, the way he behaves, the way he gives, the way he serves, the way he loves, the way he shows compassion and kindness and understanding, the way he embraces everyone no matter what their condition in life. That's a powerful witness. Great comment. Thanks for bringing that out. All right, other comments. Please come now. PDI. PDI, go ahead. Yes. Yeah, last comment, I'll make this morning. But anyway, on that funeral yesterday, I just wanted to do a quick follow-up. People came from all over. They came from the Pacific Islands, Guam, Rota. They came from Hawaii. They came from all over the United States. We had 150 in attendance. Many of these people have known me for 50 years. My message to them yesterday was very simple and clear, and that is Matt makes many plans in their lifetime. They work all their lives to make ends meet, to have a retirement, to maybe build their dream home, and in the midst of all their great plans, many times when it comes to death will come knocking on the door. And then they never have an opportunity to enjoy all the fruit of their labor. and all that they've done because they built up their treasures on earth rather than in heaven. And so I encourage them to let God complete them. Let God be the one that completes their lives because we all stand in front of him and what we did with his word and how we will give an account of how we interpreted and used his word in our lives because all the physical things you imagine will always become somebody else's. And so, therefore, build up your treasures in heaven. That was the message yesterday. It's not one that they were used to hearing. It's not what it's been, but I think it's been passed on to people. I know I had people that came up, and I just said, give glory to God. Just obey Him, because obedience ultimately is going to be the same. Don't quit. Stay obedient to the end, and God will take you home. He will do what's best in the house of the obedient. Yeah, David, what a great message. Thank you for that. You know, what shall it profit a man if he gained the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? And, you know, your message at the funeral was spot on. And that is that we need to be way more concerned about preparing for the life after death than we do about preparing for this life after retirement or whatever. And it's not that we shouldn't have retirement plans or goals or savings or whatever, but that's not the focus of our life. That's a subtext to our lives. The primary theme of our life is, I am laying up treasure in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt. I am trusting in Jesus. I'm proclaiming his message. I'm really living for the life to come. And while I have to do some things with reference to this life, That's not where my focus is, and that's not the main theme of my life. That's the subtext of my life. So do we have material stuff? Hey, we're all talking on radios, right? But we don't live for radio. We love radio. We appreciate it, but we live for Jesus Christ. And he is the center of our affections. He's the focus of our lives, and he's the one that we're living for. And really, in this world, we're living in and for the world to come. And so that is a really important concept, and I'm glad you pointed that out. I appreciate that. Okay, other comments, please come now. K2KJX K2KJX, real good copy on your voice, go ahead there George You know, Roger, Roger, I think I've already mentioned this once before, but when I taught adult Bible study classes, I would ask them who's faith, and most all would raise their hands, and then I would ask them who likes to witness or share their faith. and nobody would raise their hands. And I did this for several classes. And then I asked them, "Do you ever feel the urge of the Holy Spirit giving you the voice to share your faith?" And they would say, "No." And I said, "Okay, well, for the next week"--we would meet once a week-- Look for opportunities where you feel like the Holy Spirit is giving you the urge to share your faith. And the next week we would meet and nobody said they saw any urging of the Holy Spirit. And I said, "You're not looking. You're not listening." And it is our goal to share our faith, let somebody know that they're a sinner, they need salvation through the Lord Jesus. And it's a struggle because most people, at least in my little world, most people don't like to share their faith. And my wife and I have a small greenhouse nursery, and sometimes Jill walks up to them and says, "Do you go to church?" That's the cue for me sometimes to just share the gospel with them. And it's really sad that most of us, I don't know the percentage, but most of us do not like to share our faith. But it's only because somebody told us about Jesus that we are believers today. It's just a hit. Yeah, good copy, George. Sorry, I had a little glitch there with my SDR. In any event, you're exactly right. You know, a Christian who doesn't share his faith, you almost wonder if he has any faith. Because, you know, it's the nature of a baby when he's born that he cries. And it's the nature of a newborn Christian that he wants to talk about his salvation and his Savior. And while not all of us have the gift of evangelism, all of us have a testimony to share. And, you know, one of the things I found really helpful, George, in trying to get people to start witnessing evangelism, is, you know, because the preaching of the Gospel is foolishness to them who don't believe, they're embarrassed about being thought to be foolish. And because of that emotional reaction to social rejection, they don't witness the And so what I tell them is, look, just share your own testimony. You go up to somebody and say, you know, I had something amazing happen to me a while back. And what happened to me is, and then you share your testimony about how you got saved. And so you're not asking that other person to do anything. You're not trying to pressure them into changing their attitudes, their beliefs, their behavior. You're just telling them what Jesus did for you. And so do you go to church is certainly a good opening line, but once again that's putting the focus on the other person. And that's fine, but if you feel like that is going to create some consternation or some resentment or some negative reaction that you're going to then get embarrassed about, you don't even have to do that. What you have to do, what you need to do, what you should do is share what Jesus did for you. And if you do that, they'll go, oh, well, good for you. And then maybe that'll start them thinking. Maybe they'll say, well, yeah, you know, that's fine for you, but it's not fine for me. And then you can go, oh, really? Why isn't that fine for you? So I have found that for people who are not accustomed to witnessing, to just share their own testimony and see what doors that opens. And so, George, K2KJX, excellent comments. And I think we all need to encourage ourselves to witness and others to witness, because if this is the most important message in the world, and it is, and if this is what people need more than anything else in their life, and it is, then for us to withhold this message from them would be like, if all the people around us had cancer and we've got the cure to cancer, why would we withhold that cure from them? They may not like our cure. But you know what? At least we can say, I shared it with you, and if you go ahead and die of cancer, that's on you. I have the cure. And so if people go to hell, that's on them, but we offered them the cure. So great comments. All right, we are done with our Bible study. We have the Vintage Military Radio Network following us today at 6.50, so we've got about 10 minutes to close in prayer. And I want to do that. Are there any final prayer requests that anybody has that they want to share with us? Please come now. then that is going to convince them of the reality and the genuineness of the transformative power of the gospel. And so, Father, we just pray that we would not be embarrassed by the fact that people mock us and call us foolish because we believe the gospel, helping, Father, to not bend to their desire to give them some sort of human wisdom in order to persuade them to embrace the gospel. Lord, they're doing a CT scan to find that out. Lord, I pray that that cancer would be confined to his prostate. It wouldn't be anywhere else. And, Lord, they would be able to get that taken out or radiated or whatever they do in order to put a stop to that. So, Lord, we pray for Jay. Lord, that you would be pleased to... and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ in their walk with the Lord. Father, I just pray that you would heal Dale. Father, we thank you that his leg was amputated below the knee. Father, that's going to give him so much more mobility. And Lord, we're grateful for that. And Father, we just pray that you would strengthen his faith and give him a good spiritual walk. And Father, eventually a good physical walk too, as he has some sort of a prosthesis attached to that lower leg. Father, just raise Dale up. Make him a monument of your physical healing and of your spiritual healing. so that he can be a bright and shining light preaching the gospel to the lost. Now, Father, we just want to pray today for our brethren at the Midwest Bible Study. Father, we thank you for our brother Darrell, WB7AOT. We pray for his health issues. Father, he's got urology issues. Pray, Lord, that you would fix all those up just right so his body functions properly. Lord, we pray the same for our brother Scott at 7NTA. And, Lord, for all those who gather around the Midwest Bible Study, at 4 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on 3962.5. Father, I pray for all of them, that you would build them up and bless them in their faith and in their walk. Lord, we pray for Harry, K7HK. His wife, Darlene, is coughing up blood and needs diagnosis and treatment. Father, we pray that you would be pleased to... who had a severe stroke and is out of the hospital recovering at home now. Father, have mercy on Julie, and Lord, may she regain full function of her body that was impacted by that stroke. Father, we just want to continue to pray for Harvey, W-A-3-E-I-B, and his wife, Karen, who has AFib and early onset Alzheimer's. Father, give Harvey wisdom in caring for his wife, and Lord, we pray that Karen's heart would stabilize. Lord, we pray that you bring them both to salvation. that you would be pleased to heal him of that problem that he's got. And Father, there are others on this net whose names don't come to me right now who have cancer in that area of their bodies. Lord, have mercy on each of them. And now, Lord, we just want to thank you for our nation and for its leaders. and for their responsibility they have to rule over us. Cause our president and the Congress and the courts and all the administrative officers to have wisdom in administering the affairs of our nation. Father, defeat the wicked, exalt the righteous, protect, Father, your servants who bear the sword. And Father, I just ask that there would be justice done Father, we ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen. and for God to meet the needs of those in our circle of fellowship. I will be returning this frequency now to the Vintage Military Radio Network, which will follow immediately upon our sign-off. And so I'm wishing you all a blessed day and a good day of worship. If you're going to church today, and that God would gather us here together again tomorrow. This is WB7MAX. I'll be clear in QRT. Amen. Amen. you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you
