#### Bible Reading and Discussion: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

The central text for this study was 1 Corinthians 1:10-17, where Paul addresses the issue of division within the Corinthian church. The passage begins with Paul's plea for unity: "Now I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no divisions among you, but rather that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose." This plea underscores the importance of unity in Christ, emphasizing that division is contrary to the will of God.

Paul's reconciliation with John Mark is also discussed, illustrating the power of forgiveness and reconciliation in the Christian community. The importance of unity in the church is further emphasized, with participants reflecting on how denominational differences can impact this unity. Discussions also delved into church leadership and governance, with a focus on the history and structure of the West Coast Bible Study. The theme of leadership and humility in preaching was also explored, with participants sharing insights on how leaders can maintain humility while effectively communicating the message of Christ.

I'm moving in here to the crow's nest this morning. All right. Looking for check-ins. Looking for check-ins to the West Coast Bible Study Group. Please call in. 7-N-P-A. N-6-X-O-H. Hey, morning, Will. How are you doing? I'm all good. I'm glad to be here. I'm all good. I'm all good. I guess James is going to be in the board discussion for the stuff like the project. I think that's a copy maker. I don't know if that's over the floor. So I hope we can have a hand-picked. You know, Will, if it makes you feel any better, about a year ago, I did the same thing. I got the coffee pot in there, but it got cocked in there somehow. And my usual ritual is... come out of the bedroom, turn left, go down the hallway, take care of things, come back, and I already have my coffee pre-made on a timer. I dump that in a cup, and then I climb up here into the crow's nest. Well, that particular morning, I had just like what you're referring to. The coffee was all over the counter, onto the floor. What a mess. So I feel for you there, brother. Alright, well you get lined out, get mopped up and come back and join us, okay? All right. And the net would like to recognize Peter, KJ7BA. Good morning, Peter. Thank you for stopping by. You're so faithful. I hope that today's net brings you a blessing. Looking for check-ins to the West Coast Bible Study Group, please call at 718-825-7000. I think I keep hearing cams. Hi, Beth. Yeah, I just got done with him. Uh, Will Pinks, or, uh, Ben Pinks. WB7VZL, good morning. Well, Roger, how you doing today? Well, I got that wonderful water therapy. and now I'm ready for the water of life, so to speak. Over. Boy, you're getting into any anonymity, aren't you? I have really appreciated the morning bath. Yeah, I'm now officially 75, and water therapy is even more appreciated, I guess, at those older ages. Yeah, good morning to all. Yeah, I appreciate that. Any prayer requests come to mind, Roger? Nothing. Well, let's see. I did try to take... Well, let's see. Eugene, of course, is... Eugene is under the weather. I think he hasn't been answering my calls, so I don't know how he is. But today we're having a memorial service for... the gentleman that passed away when I played his favorite song this week in the garden. And he took his last breath while I was playing it. And I kept on playing, but I could tell there was just an astonished, incredible grief response. So we're having a memorial service, and I'm playing that same song at the end of the service today. So that's kind of what's happening on our plate today. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Roger, that strikes a chord with me. You know, my grandfather was 6'3", 6'4", skinny as a bean rail. And my grandmother was 4'11", and almost as big around as she was tall, and skinny and I look just like her. Our personalities are similar. And her favorite, favorite hymn was In the Garden. And her and I would sing that together as I was a little boy. And we'd sing. Grandma and Grandpa just lived across the field from me, so I would go to Grandma and Grandpa's all the time. My dad was always gone. He had a freight truck and run to the East Coast, so my grandfather had a huge influence on me and my grandmother. And that was her favorite hymn there, Roger. Over. Oh my, oh my. Well, I will hope to retain that thought when I play. It was his favorite, and it was just like, you know, people take their last breath when a family member shows up and everything is right. Well, it seemed to be the right song for him. He learned it at a very early age as well, as you indicated. What a wonderful, I'm so glad you shared that with me, Scott. That's very special. Thanks. Roger, are you here full time? Sometimes I can't take all the setting and I gotta slide down the fire pole and go use the facility and then be back. So we'll see towards the end of the net if I have to do that, but I might hand it off to you for a minute or two. Over. understand, oh my, you're a miracle to be doing this what you've been through you are certainly an answer to prayers God, yeah, whatever I can do yeah, you bet and let's do one last call and then I'm going to have Jerry Reed and Roger if you'd open in prayer here both of you guys have booming signals this morning, but we'll go one last call one last call to the West Coast Bible Study group, please call in 7 NPA And 6XOH. Romeo, Lima, Juliet. Well, good morning there, Roger. How are you doing this morning? I'm very well. How's the morning for you? All good over here. All good. Is there an advance for the pressure point? Yeah, and praises are the big bow on top of that, over. Amen, for sure. Just a fast survey. Quiet, Si. Yeah, I believe in the next blessing. Oh, golly. Okay. Well, we'll be lifting you up for prayer there, Roger, and thanks for that, and your ministry. Over. Well, thank you, John. I'm really enjoying that. I'm feeling a participation satisfaction and trying to help the Lord out as He directs. All right. All right. Ed, W6NOX, XOH, I always do a UMP mixed up. Go ahead, Ed, over. Yeah, good morning, Scott. Just checking in, I'll be listening, no prayer requests. But anyway, have a blessed day there. Thanks again, Steve, N6XOH. You bet. And how's your cold doing there, Ed? Are we gaining on to any? What is that, Scott? Uh, the condition of your cold, you and Ann's cold, the sniffles, over. In November 6X ray, Oscar Hotel. Scott, Scott. Scott was wanting to know how the colds are going, how you feeling? Oh, okay, I'm having a hard time hearing it. I'm doing better. It's still hanging in there, but I'm doing better. Thanks, Steve, N6XOH. Okay, Jim. Yeah, I fully understand. Loggers are the same way. All right. And, uh, Steve, I appreciate your relay there, Steve. All right, any last-minute check-ins before Roger opens up in prayer? Okay, Roger, can you open us up in prayer, please, this morning? Heavenly Father, again we come in the early morning hours at the beginning of the day to be sort of fortified by your Holy Spirit and the Word of God. So thank you for keeping your promises. Thank you for the blessings that have gone on in the past on this day. And we're expecting it to continue because we have opened the Scripture and invited you to be present in our hearts in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. All right. Appreciate that, Roger. And, Jerry, we'll do our reading today, this morning, the first leg of it anyway. We'll see how things go. 1 Corinthians chapter 1, Jerry, verse 10 to verse 17. Over. New American Standard we're reading out of this morning. And verse 10, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ. Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Cephas and Gaius. so that no one would say you were baptized in my name. Now I did baptize also the household of Cephanus; beyond that I do not know whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, for the cross of Christ would not be made void. Thank you, A.E. 7-year. I appreciate that reading there, Jerry. So Jerry kind of lays it out here that, believe it or not, not always do we always get along. You know, we're in the world, but we're not of the world. And Satan is the big wedge that tries to... to split us in half sometimes. But we have to recognize what that is and overcome that and seek first Christ's counsel that beyond anything, the unity of Christ shall reign. So any comments on what Jerry read, please call in 7MPX. PDI. Kilo7, Papa Delta India. Yeah, go ahead, David. Yeah, this PDI is so important for us all to understand, and that's the fact that the region is separated being separate is a sin. And Paul knows better than anyone how this even affected him. And so you can go back to Acts, the 15th chapter, and there was a strong contention that was between him and Barnabas. It started there because Barnabas wanted to take John Mark on a mission trip and Paul wanted... to take part in this and then go together, but he was against John Mark and came back and had the 13th chapter. John Mark failed to continue on that trip and Paul had a sharp convention here over that situation. But what's important to see is that later they were reconciled. Paul was reconciled to John Mark and spoke well of him. We read about that in 2 Timothy 4:11 as well as Colossians 4:10. So they worked out their difference because those differences are things you need to reconcile with your brethren. So when he says here, "I plead with you, brethren," by the mercy, you know, again, by God, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing. We're all to be unified in the word. Will there be divisions or will there be a separation or a disagreement concerning leadership issues? Levels are always going to come up. But with the word of God, there can be no division. We must be unified. And it's paramount to our faith that we are unified in what Jesus teaches and what the Word teaches. As far as leadership issues, disagreements will come. And that's why God has always left local economy to the church to make their decisions. so that those leadership issues will become less. Kilo Kilo 7, Papa Delta India. I could say much more, but I won't for now. Back to you. I appreciate that, David. David's just laying out... that divisions among the church or even among Bible studies or any brothers and sisters that come is a sin. And that we absolutely have to be unified inside Christ and work some of this stuff out. And that's why we have a church government. And that's laid out. Dave also pointed out that in the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul and John Mark, they had these differences. And they had to work them out. So this isn't anything new. You know, Satan takes his wedge, and he puts it in our block of wood, and he tries to drive that wedge in between us to split us up. And we absolutely can't have that. You know, sometimes it's best to be timber-bound, where a block of timber-bound wood cannot be separated easily at all. So we don't want to be a nice straight green maple that busts apart real easy. We have to be a timber-bound stump. and cling together through the unity of Christ. All right, any other thoughts? Come in. And 7 MPH. PWO? Yeah, go ahead, Mike. Yeah, Scott, talking about unity and lack of unity and what it has to do with the church and impeding the fruitfulness. Can I read John 17, verse 20 to 21? Absolutely. Absolutely. Okay, John 17, verse 20 to 21. I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in me, through their word, that they may be one, even as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me. W7TW. Okay. Yeah, thank you for that passage. We're talking about unity here. Anybody else would like to jump in? And so did Pierre. - Okay. Well, I'll throw my two cents in here in that, you know, this Bible study net is a non-denominational net. And all of us come from different backgrounds, different denominations. Sometimes I feel that denominations are the work of the devil, and he uses even the denominations to drive a wedge amongst different churches inside different communities. Some churches reach out and try to build their attendance by taking other members inside the community from other churches. All this is wrong. The individuals have to seek God's face. I come from a background of the Restoration Church, which is a Burton Stone, and it's Thomas Campbell, you know, we sometimes can be called Campbellites. And I wouldn't necessarily that I'm a true Campbellite. You know, I believe that we're saved by grace. And so I have hybrid in me, but that's my background nonetheless. And so in the Restoration Church, it is led by elders. Each church is independent from the others, so they're led by elders. And the elders are called by God. And so these individuals, their spiritual walk gets to a... to a point where they have this connection with the Holy Spirit and God, and God will lay upon their heart that He wants them to be church leaders. And that's how the eldership is chosen inside the Restoration Church. And the elders are pastors equal. They will preach. They will teach. They will go to rest homes. They will do everything, everything that the pastor does outside of the day-to-day workings of the church. And the elders will hire the pastor and have him come in and be a part of this leadership team. So that's my background. And the background for the West Coast Bible study is similar to that. Jerry and Roger and I are on the board of patriarchs. And this goes back to the original foundation of the West Coast Bible study that started back in 1957 by, I don't have his name, WD6DDJ and Guy, W6ZTY were the original founders. And they, along with Mel, a zero CBZ, formed the West Coast Bible Study Net that branched out into the Midwest Study. And so there is the Midwest Study is our first brother, our first cousin, if you will. And from the beginning, going back to 1957, we have shared a Bible study network. prayer requests and studies and came back then. Some of the West Coast attendees would attend the Midwest and vice versa. So they are our brothers that we lost arms to. There's also an East Coast net that comes on about 2 o'clock in the morning. I'm not very familiar with that outside that I know that that's part of our group also. And then we've got The net controls were handed off to Harold, KA6ENC. And from about 1998 to about 2021, 22, something of that nature, Harold won the run the West Coast study. And these are gathered from directors of the patriarchs, and they work in shoes who they feel God is leading. There is a lot of prayer involved. here and Max is our leader and we give Max the full opportunities to run the net the way he would like to see fit and sometimes Max has to. And Terry, V-E-6-P-O-H. But at that time, Terry was V-E-7-P-O-H as he was living in British Columbia. And then later he moved to Stony Plains, Alberta, and the six went to a – or the seven went to a six. And so this is – Bible study, real similar to different denominations, including the background that I have. So that's a little history of how the West Coast Bible study... Yeah, I heard. -- which is much of the East Coast. I don't know that it was the one that you were initially referring to over there. But yeah, there's certainly some wonderful little study net there. You know, I really wanted to-- and thank you for sharing that. That's certainly an interesting perspective. I think, coming back to the text here a little bit, to be followers of men and one of the things that developed into this church is they became kind of a, well, more following the personality or the leadership of different people as opposed to the leadership of our Lord. And that's where our focus really needs to be. We want this to be I was just mentioning that a very young man, a child, I feel a lot of pride in Guy Wilson's chat. I mean, he's 6 feet, he walks, and he and his two sons, we work together, and he introduced me to him radio as well as. what a problem thank you very much I have to keep it out and die well to be able to keep working on my life and to be successful in my life yeah oh alright uh Roger appreciate that yeah it all comes down to our hearts you know uh seeking God's face it's an intimate personal walk that the Holy Spirit uh works on our hearts and then uh And with that, the brotherhood blooms. And this is what we have, and this is of God's design. So thank you for that, Roger. All right, any other comments, please come in. 7NPA. KM-5F. I heard a follow-up up there, and I heard Will. Go ahead, Will. Take you, Will, first, and then we'll go with the follow-up. Go ahead, Will. KM-5F. Give him the glory. And the problem we have in the church today is too many preachers are taking the glory, and they want to be elevated. They want to be known. They want to develop their rapport rather than putting the emphasis upon Christ. And that's where it needs to be placed. And that's what he's saying here. It's about Jesus. It's not about Paul, and it's not about Stephen or Apollos. Let's walk today and be humble. Be humble and recognize that there's, you know, it's God's desire to have unity in Christ and have that faithfulness and unity in our walk. So take that to your quiet place. All right. Any final prayer requests that's on anybody's heart? It's my turn to lead in prayer today. I encourage you, if God's been working on your heart to lead in closing prayers, that would be a huge boulder that you could take out a Pastor Max's pack set. the different daily prayer requests. So I just throw that out there, ask you to put that on your heart because it's something that I know. I'm very, very close to Pastor Max. I know that he, this is some weight in the back of his back sack. And just like today, Pastor Max is here every day. He's here every day, and he loves this ministry. But if you spend every day eating chocolate chip cookies, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, well, pretty soon you're going to get tired of chocolate chip cookies. And so when he asks for a time off, each one of us need to be willing to step into this chair and assist. And each and every one of us can do this. grow and learn. And today was a little bit different because our leader is taking a 24-hour sabbatical. And how important is that for Pastor Max to be able to get away? you know he's just one cog in the wheel it isn't about Max it's about Christ and we we read and learned about that today so we give you the glory in that Father we just listen to uh Jeff's testimony about shipping out these 20,000 Bibles and being able to hand deliver and put these Bibles into hand to an individual like this truck driver's marine husband and how that spoke to her. and then so excited, they had a dear friend in the Army, and she backed up and got a personal Bible for this friend in the Army. And she went away with a pink one, you know, kind of a lady flower Bible. How beautiful is this? And so, Father, I just pray that every single one of these 20,000 Bibles shipped, that this army, this Marine Bible, will also, you know, in due time, be dogged and ruled out. And lives can be changed, not only for the recipient, but as the recipient shares what he's reading. So, Father, we just give you glory. We asked for this... for Jeff's ministry, this Operation Worship, that he seeks financial assistance to have another 80,000 Bibles put to print and brought into the warehouse. So, Father, I just pray that you will bless Jeff in this ministry that's so deserving of the glory. Father, we want to lift up Christi here. That's Carol's son-in-law. You know, he had this heart obliteration that removed 90% of his blockage. And, Father, only you can do that. So we just give you the glory in that. Father, we are lifting up Al's Men's Breakfast over there at the Fern Ridge Christian Church, and we just ask that those that attend, that they can have a blessed day. Father, we lift up Darrell's sermon to you this morning as he is preparing to go and deliver the message that you put on his heart to share with the church family. So we just ask that Darrell will have the strength. under the circumstances of his health issues to articulate and to share with that. Father, we lift up Roger and his ministry and how he was able to come alongside in this memorial service. and play in the garden alone and how this touches the hearts of others in and outside the service like it touched my heart this morning. So I thank you, Father, for Roger's continued steadfast in the ministry. Father, when we think of Roger, we're also thinking of W6RLJ. as he is preparing to head to the mission field here in the South Pacific. And his ties to the West Coast Bible study came back in 1957 and those guys, as a personal friend, W6ZTY, Guy Welch, and that story that Roger shared with us today. How beautiful is that? All of us recognize the reverence of those that went before, that they are called, that the net leaders here are called by God, and that it is a ministry that they take very, very seriously, and rightly so. So we thank you for Roger and his ministry, and we just... ask that as he prepares, that his heart is prepared, his mind is prepared, and that he's prepared to deliver messages in the mission field. Father, we give you a boy that ends up feeling a little bit better every day, a little bit better with his cold. N6XOH. We lift up Ed to you this morning. Father, We lift up James to you this morning, Pastor Dave's grandson that has pneumonia, just a little tight, you know, a couple months old. Father, I ask that you come down from the heavens and put a healing hand upon James. Father, we ask that you put a healing hand upon Dale, a recent son of yours that come across the threshold and invited you into his heart. And now he's having a little bump in the road, a washboard, if you will. We just pray that this, for wisdom of the doctors that decided to take, remove the leg below the knee, Father, we give you glory that it was below the knee. And we just ask that you put a mindset upon a day of thankfulness. And that ends we lift up a veil to you. Father, there are those that are in Iran today that are under tyranny. And Father, I just pray for guidance and protection there. I pray for your intervention. Many there don't know you. They're of a different vein, but there are some that do. But Father, I ask for special protection for those. And Father, I pray that this conflict can be resolved, that these people can be freed and be free to enjoy life. Be free to seek your face, if that's what it's called. And so, Father, I lift up the Iranian people. Father, I lift up Jim to you today as he goes down to the Lofa breakfast spot. and engages with those that may not know you, that he converses with them, not only in worldly ways and military ways, but ultimately those conversations will lead to you and that they will have open minds and open hearts. And Father, give Jim the words that he needs to share the gospel and build the kingdom. Father, we want to lift up Casey's, can't read the Corrie, Corrie to you. And so we understand this friend of Bruce's that passed away. And Father, I just lift up that family as they are grieving, along with Bruce, K4VCL. You know, we can rally around that. Father, let's put audio hands out upon Bruce at this moment in time that he can feel your presence, that he knows with the passing of Corrie that you are in control. So give Bruce comfort. Give comfort to Corey's family as they go through this time of mourning. Father, as we think about Corey and memorial services and funerals, Father, we lift up our brother David. KK7 PBI, who is leading this large funeral today. Father, give David the right words to share. Give him the opportunities to articulate in a way that will resonate with different hearts and minds the gospel story. that you're in control. Father, we pray for those that are mourning themselves. Give David a message that can be uplifting. Father, be with Dave today as he seeks this calling. Father, as we turn to the big rest, we're so thankful. Father, we... There's so many pastors in need. You know, the different churches, you know, over there in Idaho, they're searching for a pastor. And in Fern Ridge, they're searching for a pastor. All the universities are searching for a pastor. Father, we just ask that hearts and minds can be opened and that you will lead... new pastors to these churches. And there's other churches also. And mission fields to fulfill. The harvest is plenty and the workers are few. Father, we've been having an extraordinary amount of participants, people grabbing chairs, sitting around this big table. The table gets bigger and bigger. But it's all about you. And so I've been saying that, Father, we still have the silent multitude, those that are in the shadows. And Father, they have things on their hearts and their minds. Father, meet their needs. Father, we lift up Chris to you this morning, a friend of Brian's, KJ's son of PWM. Father, we just pray that his shattered elbow can be healed. But more importantly, Father... his heart can be healed, that he can accept you into his heart. Father, I just give Brian the encouragement as he reaches out to multiple people that he's associated with. We think of his secretary. We think of Chris. We think of many people. His wife, Anna, they seek your wisdom in making decisions about... her employment situation. I know many of us have been in that situation before. So we looked up Anna to you. And Father, I just pray that your wisdom and understanding, that she can recognize the path that you want her to take going forward. Father, we are praying for wisdom and spiritual protection for the pastors of these churches. And especially the church leaders that are pastorless. Father, I just pray for intervention there. Father, we take this time. I mentioned about the Operation Worship, which is a key ministry that's connected to this West Coast Bible Study Net. Father, we also pray for the Fellowship of Christian Loggers and the work that's done out in that mission field. Father, we lift up Mark to you, W7UAR, and his connection with Tyler and the struggling of his life. Not me. Go ahead, Beck. We're weak this morning. These Tide... Uh, what, Tide? Yeah, like Tide washing detergent. Oh, yeah. Why didn't I think of that? That's a good one, Beck. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope others do too. Oh, we do. You're starting to have a following here. I like it when others can contribute. Yeah, and for those that are listening, tomorrow we'll be starting at verse 18. Verse 18. So there's a little tidbit. You have a blessed day, Scott. I'll talk with you later. All right, Beck. You and Sandy have a blessed day also. That's an NPA Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee. Hey, Beck, would that use the road to me? Yes, sir. Uh, no, we don't, but I'm going to send you whatever you need. Just check your email, your address over. Oh, sure, I can do that right now. Just let me know how many you need. I can send you a whole case if you need them. I only need one for myself and a very good friend that deserves one because he's taken on pressures from management on behalf of everybody in the park to try and get all this garbage that we have straightened out. And he deserves it, Roger. Roger, and I don't know if you knew it, but my wife and I were a park owner. We had a park that was 170 spaces we sold about two years ago. So where was that located at? Roger, well that's awesome. Yeah, it was really fun running that part. Okay, well I'm going to send you my address right now, Jeff. Okay, shoot it over to me and I'll get these out. Thank you, AK-16K, I'll call from 5 Yankee. Okay, thanks, Beck. AK-6, okay. KB-7, KTY. KBY. Well, we're all serving God here together, so that's all that matters. Jesus takes it and does what he wants with it, and of course he does all the work, and when he's doing it, it's all good. So if we don't have anything to worry about, do we, Scott? That's exactly right. That's exactly right. All righty, I need to check out, Kathy. I've got to go move some equipment this morning. And thanks for jumping in and saying hi.
